I was very happy with my decision to go with Yorkshire Roofing to replace my 30 year old fairly complex large roof on my semi-Victorian looking two story home. They had done a couple of roofs in my neighborhood here in Livermore over the past few years, so I had a chance to see their quality of work before and that helped with my decision. Anyway, they said they would show up on the 20th of June when I signed the contract in May and they did. They showed up in force even though that started the hottest week of the year (with temps in the high 90's all week). I was very impressed with all of their equipment and men on site to do the job. The area supervisor Hugo was very helpful during the process and answered all my questions. He also stopped by a couple times a day to make sure everything was on track and they had all materials needed. I was also very happy with Aldo the foreman on the job and his whole team of guys. They seemed very organized and worked together with a plan for each day during the week they were here. Aldo answered all my questions each day and made sure they cleaned everything up (right down to running a wheeled magnet around the whole house) to pickup all the nails and staples that inevitably fall from stripping off the old roof. In addition they replaced dry rotted wood and fascia boards that inevitably happen over the 30 years since the house was built and the first roof was put on. This included some special trim they had to locate (looked like crown molding) around one of the spires in the front over a bay window area (they the called the spire a "Pinocchio" because it looked like his hat). They even painted the pieces they replaced, as I had the trim paint left over from a recent paint job. They completed the job in the week they promised and did a super big cleanup before they left and left everything very clean. So I would highly recommend Yorkshire Roofing to anyone looking to get a new roof, as the result as you can see in the pictures was fantastic! I chose the Certainteed Landmark TL (triple layer) shingles that are thick and look almost like wood shingles in the Shenandoah color, that matches our green house and both my wife and I think it looks fantastic, Thank you Yorkshire! read more

I highly recommend Yorkshire Roofing. They were super responsive, reasonably priced and did excellent work on our roof. The estimator Steve Disch is a true professional - he sat down with us and went over all the options and spent a lot of time explaining everything. I assure you, you don't get that kind of customer service with other roofing companies (I know firsthand - I got a lot of low effort estimates from companies who looked at my roof for like 2 minutes and hardly spoke to me) Yorkshire was pretty booked up and we were scheduled out a few months. However, they helped us right away when our roof started leaking and put up a temporary patch that held up great until they could get to us on the schedule. We have a metal roof, and we found a minor leak in the attic along with the vent pipe. I called several roofing companies for help, and most of them have no license to work on the metal roof. Luckily one roofer referred Yorkshire to us, and Yorkshire sent Doug to inspect the issue. Doug was professional and friendly. He went up to the roof and did a thorough inspection. He showed us photos of the damaging area, and gave us a reasonable price. With our approval, he fixed all the damage areas. We can sleep better now. read more

Well I had a few issues after the roof was replaced and paid for. My phone calls were not returned. All issues have now been resolved. However, it's been over a month and I'm still finding nails and debris from the job. I had to fish out of my pool a bracket and nail. I'd give them one star for clean up. read more

I was introduced to Yorkshire by a friend who had a roofing supply company and suggested them I needed a new roof and wanted solar as well I did not want 2 different companies doing it and have a finger pointing issue if there was a leak. Yorkshire did both about 10 years ago. The Owens Corning roof started to show fiberglass and O/C refused to honor their premium warranty. Kenny and Tony from Yorkshire stepped up and said though O/C would not replace the roof and ensure the new roof met all of O/C requirements, they would at no cost to me! This is the type of customer service that all vendors should strive to have; to stand by the product that they sell! I wanted to also put in more solar with battery storage and used Yorkshire for that as well. Tony and his crew did a fantastic job installing both. To start- I did not have them install a roof. However, the estimating process and scheduling were great. I chose this company because the estimator spent about 2 hours total getting measurements, figuring exact costs and giving me a great rundown on how the whole process works. Another roof company had a guy look at my house from the sidewalk and then give me a quote. Get outta here. I ended up deciding to sell the home right before the install. What a wonderful crew of workers Yorkshire Roofing had at my house. To call them roofers is an understatement - they are more than that. They are craftsmen. They are carpenters, electricians, and problem solvers extraordinaire who do what it takes to get the job done with excellence. If a new piece of ornamental trim had to be made to replace ones with dry rot - they made them. On the spot. If shrubs needed to be cut to get t the roof of a bay window, they did it and cleaned up the yard waste. Whatever needed to be done,they never stopped. They just did it cheerfully and with diligence. He has the mind of an engineer and when presented with a major problem - and with my old house there were problems: dry rot, termite damage etc. - he would think, then his eyes light up and would say, "I know how we can solve this". I wanted to tell you about my experience.... I called Yorkshire Roofing to get a bid on my roof repair for an addition we added on our house, the owner showed up after a small back injury he could barely walk but knew how important I get my roof completed before possible rain and for my next inspection. The prices I received from all three bids were very close but my decision to go with Yorkshire was a good decision and I didn't realize how good it was until the night before they were going to show up to do the job. The owner lives a few towns away and he noticed it started to rain (of course my luck) he called me at 10pm to warn me rain was coming and said he was getting into his truck to come help me tarp my roof to keep all the exposed wood dry. We had our facia boards replaced on our Hayward home by Yorkshire Roofing. The actual work on the board replacement was well done and timely. However during the job they accidentally cut the coax and rotator wiring to the TV antenna. I luckily caught the problem and notified the manager to have them repaired which they said they did. However n reality the problem remains. After several calls and emails to have them repaired correctly I never had any response.In addition we continue to find dozens roofing nails around the repair area including the driveway. A worker did go around the property with a magnet device to collect the nails but that proved to not very thorough. I am disappointed that a good company does not take care of their customers. read more

Mixed feelings with our experience having Yorkshire reroof our house. We got six quotes, and they were the highest, but we decided to go with them because they were Diamond Certified and we wanted to get the highest quality roof on our house with the least amount of hassle. The project was admittedly complicated, and they went out of their way to mill down 4x4 rafters to match our 1920s full demension rafters (which we agreed to pay extra for) and didn't charge us for a couple of small reworks which we appreciated, and overall the job they did is a high quality job. The actual guys who showed up to work on the house were really hard working and friendly, and cleaned up each day after work. Dan did our quote and he was friendly and patient explaining our options, and Hugo was managing the project and was also friendly, though sometimes hard to reach and didn't communicate what / when things were to happen. Unfortunately the workers seemed overly rushed and made several mistakes, which included breaking one of our pained 100 year old windows (which they said couldn't be replaced with old wavy glass to match the other pains so I had to call around and find it for them,) they also cracked the plaster in our ceiling, leaving an 18 inch gap, which they came and fixed (but then ignored our calls to have it painted to match the current ceiling and so it's still painted primer white and I will have to match it myself,) and just yesterday, which instigated this review, I went in the attic to find that they hadn't reconnected the exhaust fan over our stove, which has been apparently exhausting strait into the attic. Communication was generally poor through the entire process, and after getting ghosted about our ceiling paint it seems easier to make a trip to Home Depot to fix it myself than start leaving them more messages. read more

We had an excellent experience with Yorkshire roofing. They were professional and quicker than we expected. I liked how quick they were with communication. We had a hard time looking for roofers initially, but Yorkshire Roofing was by far the most professional! The end result was an excellent roof. We had a ton of work to be done on our roof since it was built in the 1950's in Concord and we do not know if or when the previous residents re-did the roof. It was slightly more expensive than was originally quoted, but we were financially prepared for this to happen. You don't know how extensive the damage is until they start tearing the roof off and discovering what is exactly going on underneath. We knew they would have to replace roof eaves, but they replaced all the damaged eaves very professionally. The roof came out beautiful. I highly recommend Yorkshire Roofing. read more

He said he doesn't trust his ladder and asked if I had one. Leaves some roofing information and says he'll come back with a ladder. He didn't come back and I didn't get an estimate. Recently had our 40 year old tile roof replaced and added solar panels. Yorkshire roofing did a great job start to finish. All staff we had contact with were friendly, professional, patient and knowledgeable. John who estimated the work was very patient and helpful as we struggled with selection of roofing material and colors. We were able to visit their main office in Livermore to see some samples and make final decisions. John took the time to gather 12 months of electrical usage to properly size the solar array (another vendor did not do that, and would have been happy to oversize the system, which we did not need). Hugo the roof project manager did an excellent job as we ran into an issue with the roof deck being below the level of the wood trim and gutters on the house. He patiently explored options and presented us with them....and gave us time to consider the pros and cons. The solution worked very well and allowed us to retain our existing gutter system (gutter shutter). His crew worked efficiently, and in pretty high heat with no complaints. I was impressed. Tony, who managed the solar installation, was super friendly. We asked him to do something that apparently few people ask for - adding a skirt on the lower edge of the solar array - to give it a more finished look. He did the research, found the parts and completed that as well. He did great coordination to finish up...adding an additional grounding rod he thought the inspector may require...and even grounding/bonding the water heater which the inspector noted was an issue. We selected this company for several reasons - they are Diamond Certified, a single vendor for both roof and solar, they are experienced and big enough to be around for awhile. It's been 2 rain seasons & no leaks (there never was even with old roof). I replaced because of aging tiles & Yorkshire let me decide replacement this season or next since it was not urgent - that's honesty! I have climbed roof about 5 times since install & admire how "tight" things are - good craftsmanship! One small con I did not mention earlier. A 6-8 ft of cable is drooping where they replaced eves. Not a big deal since I am capable of securing with clips, but I still have not & it's quite visible from sidewalk. But, if it were my Mom, she would have called them back. My excuse is that I am gonna paint the eve first. read more

I contacted Yorkshire to get an estimate. Given that I am not a roofer, I wasn't sure if my roof was due for a repair or needed a complete replacement. Unfortunately, now that Yorkshire has come to my home, no matter what I needed before, I absolutely need repair work done now. Let me explain. There are three major gripes I have with the individual that came out to my home. I have two roofs, the primary roof on the 3rd floor (tar & gravel) and a foam roof on the second floor. The first, and most important issue I have with Yorkshire was that the guy giving me an estimate put a hole in my roof. He came with his own ladder that was missing a rubber protector on one of the legs. When he put the ladder down and crawled up to the 3rd floor roof, he gouged out my roof. Granted it was an accident, but when I pointed it out to him he literally said "well, I don't have anything on me to fix it...don't you have something? Do you have a band aid, hahaha." When I said, "no," he said "what about toothpaste, hahaha." He admitted he knew about the missing rubber on his ladder but forgot before putting it down on my foam roof. On top of this, rather than offering to fix the problem he made jokes about it and kept asking me if I had something around that I could use to fix it (not that HE could use to fix it, but that I could use to fix it). The second issue was that before this guy damaged my property, when I was asking him if the roof could be fixed rather than completely replaced, which is what he was trying to sell, he kept saying "well, I don't know." When I pushed a little harder he admitted that they didn't like to do tar & gravel and that they pretty much exclusively used this other system that was much better. It's fine if you don't do tar & gravel, but don't try and sell me on a completely new roof if maybe there is someone out there who can make some light repairs. I'm all for honesty, and if he had been honest I might have considered using them for a future full replacement (that was before he damaged my roof of course) I have had to deal with lots of vendors before, but none of them have damaged my property in the process of providing an estimate. On top of all of this, there is issue number three... I emailed Yorkshire through Angie's List informing them of my experience. Not only did I not receive any response to my email, but I never even got an estimate after sitting down with the guy for over an hour & a half. I consider that unbelievably poor management, accountability and customer service. Had someone actually responded to my email, offered to fix the damage, or even just given me a sincere apology this review may not have made it online. Unfortunately, their approach of brushing it under the rug and hoping the problem will go away seems to have backfired. Is this how Yorkshire handles issues with the roofs they install? If I had a roof put in by them and it leaked, would they conveniently ignore my emails then as well? Luckily, I was able to figure all this out before hiring them to do the job. read more

We had them redo our 20 year old roof. We got several bids, but they were willing to work with us to get a quality product with a competitive price. Since the roofing materials were new, our homeowners' association need copies of brochures and letters and whatnot to approve our new roof. John, our estimate guy, was helpful in getting the information and answering all of our (the HOA's) questions. Once the crew came out, they were polite, thoroughly cleaned up after themselves and completed the job in a timely manner. They started on Thursday and when they couldn't complete the job before it got dark on Friday, they came back on Saturday morning to finish up. And just this morning, I got a call from Dino the scheduler that the city inspector would be out, so they took care of everything from start to finish. I highly recommend their services! read more

Yorkshire had roofed our out buildings in the past and did a very good job so we decided to have them roof the house. It is roof with some more difficult challenges but they did an excellent job. Our roof had several leaks and more developing and needed to be replaced. We contacted them early this year when it was still raining and set up a date in mid June. They arrived 3 days early to remove the solar panels and start removing the old roof. They were here on time every day, left the job site clean at the end of the day, and finished the job on time. They do quality work and understood how to fix the problems we had. They communicated with us on a regular basis during the job to explain how they were going to fix specific problem areas and to answer any questions and get clarification on our expectations. They were very professional in their approach and did quality work. I strongly recommend them based upon their performance. I wanted some dry rot repaired, broken, missing tiles replaced. Thought a handyman would be fine, but a painting contractor suggested that a real roofing contractor would be better. Len came out for the estimate. Yorkshire Roofing seemed like a good local, family owned, real roofers. Went by their office a few times to finish the details of the work, and were told we would be put on the schedule. After the rains began to subside, we called back to schedule. A crew of two came out and knocked the job out in two days. It took another third day to complete some T&M work replacing some stringers in our arbor. Another painting contractor commented on the quality of the roofing work, and wanted to know who they were. I had flashing installed where there hadn't been, and was told that some just shove the flashing under the tiles. I told him that Yorkshire had removed three rows of time before placing the flashing. Dry rot removed, beautiful flashing end caps installed, house was ready for painting. Yorkshire Roofing does great work, and prices are reasonable. read more

Don't bother calling for a repair. I tried today. They will tell you they are too busy for you. They don't bother to recommend a business partner who might be able to help. Seems like too much of a bother to help people. They only handle repairs for past clients and installs. I will continue referring my client repairs and installs somewhere where they aren't too busy for me and my clients. read more

Yorkshire Roofing recently replaced a ~400 sq. ft standing seam metal roof with a PVC roof (IB Roofing Systems) on a small detached building. I was very impressed by the quality workmanship and the exception customer service throughout the process. I'm glad to have found my "go to" company for all future roofing needs! I'll definitely be recommending them to any friends and family that need roof work. All of the staff were great to work with throughout the entire process. Tina (admin) was very helpful on all paperwork issues. The roofing crew (Doug, Scott, Jesus, Cuco) and gutter installation crew (Chris, Sean) did great work, and were all very friendly and professional. They were very careful of the landscaping, etc. and cleanup was exemplary. As would be expected on a project of this type, various issues came up during the process, and they were always addressed promptly and professionally. It was always very clear that the staff wanted to be sure that any concerns were completely addressed. I was particularly impressed that the staff continually went the extra mile to provide great customer service. John White (estimator) was very thorough in answering all of my detailed questions, and continued to be very helpful throughout the process on any issues that came up. Dino Falconi (project scheduler) arranged to change their usual PVC roof installation procedure to have only the roof installed first, and to have the gutter installed the following week, since I had wanted to paint the rafter tails and eaves of the building while they were unobstructed by the gutter. Later on, when I found a cracked concrete tile on my house roof (this had nothing to do with the roofing project), Dino managed to find 2 replacement tiles in their shop and provided them to me free of charge! I was especially grateful for this help since this particular brand of tile is no longer being manufactured and would have been difficult to find. Similarly, Tony Ehrhorn (production manager) not only helped find the cause of a spot of dry rot on the eaves of my house (again, this had nothing to do with the roofing project), but also gave me instructions on how to fix the leak, completely free of charge. Thanks to his advice, I successfully fixed the leak myself and saved the cost of a service call. What I learned in the process of finding a roofer is that they tend to be very flaky! Not Yorkshire Roofing!! I called for an estimate and they were out by the end of the week! Dan was very thorough and great with the estimate. Laid out all are options and went into depth about differences. This made me very drawn to them as we'll as the financing they offer. Being a first time home buyer with no extra cash laying around this pretty much sealed the deal and I'm happy it did. I did my homework and got a few more quotes from the people who actually showed up. Yorkshire's pricing was very competitive amongst them all. Dan was persistent and followed up with me a few times but I wasn't ready to pull the trigger and it hadn't started raining. When it was time I met with Dan on a Wednesday to finalize and sign the contract, Dino called me on Thursday and put me on the schedule for the following Tuesday! On Wednesday night I had a brand new roof a day before the rain came and Thursday morning the inspector came job complete. The only thing I had to do was put out an extension cord under my garage door. Yorkshire roofing handled everything from a-z making the whole process hassle free! The workmanship they displayed along with their promptness of getting the job done was incredible!
