The employees also cooked themselves dinner off the menu, which was pretty cool to see I guess. The food was decent. The nice aspect of Yoodon is the free salad bar/veggies by the counter. I'm not a huge fan of kimbap in general but the Yoodon kimbap is pretty good. The pork cutlet was crunchy and not burnt, but the protein inside was minimal despite it looking plentiful. Good job on the presentation, I guess? Utilizing surface area to make your eyes feel fuller. The pork cutlet plate has essentially all of the ingredients and flavors as the yoodon kimbap sans the seaweed. The burger was tasty but very basic. The fries are fluffy and not crispy. It's the same level as fries you'd find in a run of the mill food cart or in the freezer section of a grocery. Average food but good service bumps it to a 3.5/5. TLDR: Yoodon is local Korean-owned small restaurant that is great for lunch or dinner, whether you're craving kimbap, udon, or a big juicy burger! The food is wholesome, homemade, and delicious; the service is personal and attentive; and the indoor seating is clean and airy. I came to Yoodon for the first time after reading the great reviews and I was not disappointed! I didn't realize that Yoodon is more of a take out and delivery place, so I came with my family for a sit down lunch, but they have some seating available, so it wasn't a problem. It might be helpful to know though that there isn't a public restroom available for customers. For takeout, they receive orders by phone or through their website because this option has less fees for both the vendor and the customer. Yoodon is owned and run by a very lovely Korean husband and wife duo who really care about their customers and "cook food they would make for their own kids" as the Mrs. told me. At the moment, she runs the front of the house while her husband cooks all the food in the kitchen alone. He told me how he hand-makes all the burger patties, which explains how they're so ginormous, and comes in at 6am to cook the udon broth for four hours every day! Although the couple works alone, they haven't compromised on quality or service. They were happy to accommodate my grandmother with a more plain udon that isn't on the menu and checked in on us often. It really felt like we were eating food from a neighbor who just happens to cook really well. They also haven't raised their prices since the pandemic so you really get a good amount of quality food for a good price. Like many other restaurants and small businesses, they went through a really rough time during COVID, especially because they opened just 3 months before everything shut down, but they are so grateful for everyone who has supported them and said that all the positive reviews have given them strength to carry on. read more

I have been going here every now and then and I am always very satisfied. When this please says spicy, they mean spicy. I can handle spice and my nose was running Like crazy I had to take a break. Unassuming, local but simply excellent Korean comfort food. The menu is kim bap, katsu and udon noodles and you really can't go wrong with any of it. All the kim bap rolls were fresh, stuffed with good filling and incredibly tasty. Katsu was crispy and had large portions. Udon also hit the spot. The restaurant is very small with only a few tables so most of their orders are to go. Prices are pretty reasonable for the quantity and I love eating at mom and pop run Korean comfort spots. I got 2 burgers for my kids on my way home. The burger patty was uncooked inside. It was bloody red. I called the owner about it but she asked me if I want to go back there to return. It was too late and too far to go there. If she was being reasonably nice and cared about my concern, I would try again. The Chicken sandwich here... my goodness. It's phenomenal and you can tell its made with love as its a small family business that cares. You can tell by some of the interactions that they have with customers that they care, because they remember their orders and they have a fair share of regulars. The chicken sandwich is juicy and the sauce compliments it so well. The shoestring fries are made crispy and its the perfect sidekick. If you love spicy, then get the hot option. Me personally I like spice, but the sauce was too much for me. The bulgogi kimbap was also really good and my SO loved the udon. If you are around the area, then I do highly recommend. Ordered takeout online for dinner here recently, overall food was yummy. Overall good experience,, I would order from here again in the future. The lady working there was very nice as well. There is no dine in from what I see, no tables were set up, and it's a relatively small restaurant. Ordered: beef udon, vegetable tempura udon, shrimp tempura udon, yoodon cheese burger, yoodon kimbap, and shrimp tempira kimbap. From their past reviews and photos they usually have a salad bar in the back that allowed diners to pick whatever vegetables they wanted. Due to COVID, I don't think they have this option. The beef and shrimp tempura udon included a variety of veggies though, it wasn't lacking in any way, the vegetable tempura was topped with a bunch of scallions. The broth was hot and everything was packaged securely. The flavor of the broth is the usual mentsuyu flavor. Yoodon Kimbap was interesting, think kimbap with a fried crunchy katsu sort of breading. Due to having takeout it wasn't as crunchy as expected. It came with a tangy sort of sauce on the side. Shrimp tempura kimbap was refreshing. It had a lot of krab meat (not actual crab but the crab lookalike that's made from pollock/fish, the krab you'd see in California rolls). It was also a bit on the spicy side. I think the best bang for your buck is their burger, it's pretty big and comes with a salad and fries. I can't comment on the taste since this isn't my order, but I was told it was delicious and filling. One thing to note was that their was mayo and ketchup drizzled on top of the salad, which I guess simulates a Russian dressing. But next time I'll include on a note to just have plain salad or sauce on the side. read more

I'm absolutely adding Yoodon to my list of eats! I was craving udon so I decided to do a Yelp search for near by recommendations and I'm so glad I did. We ordered the shrimp tempura udon, shrimp stir fry udon, fish katsu and the yoodon kimbap. This was way to much food for just me and my husband but I love variety. The portions are a good size and everything was tasty. Though the stir fry udon was especially good. It was almost creamy and the udon noodles are the right consistency of chewy & bouncy. I asked for the spicy sauce on the side because my husband can't do spicy. Thank goodness I did because it's got a real kick and I loved adding it to my dish. The yoodon kimbap was not very exciting and I won't be getting again. The actual amount of veggie/meat was pretty small as the kimbap was mostly rice and a fried outside. Hits the spot every time I'm craving a chicken sandwich! My girlfriend got the chicken stir fried noodles which was also very good. She opted for non-spicy; meanwhile I added some spicy powder of my own from the free salad bar that they have, where you can make a side salad at no extra cost. I haven't heard much about Yoodon before I got there, but it has to be one of my favorite restaurants in the Bayside area now! From the outside, it may look a bit small and inconspicuous, but it serves great quality food that makes you feel right at home. The prices are affordable and the portions are really good, as I left feeling very satisfied. I tried the Yoodon Kimbap, which is definitely eye-popping when you first see it as the seaweed appears to be deep-fried, similar to how it is in kimari (deep fried seaweed rolls). As for the filling, there is imitation crab, pickled radish, carrots, and a bit of lettuce, which is all pretty standard for kimbap. However, the sweet and savory sauce drizzled on top really helps the kimbap stand out along with the fact that it is deep-fried on the outside. The crunchiness on the outside contrasting with the softness of the rice on the inside makes for a nice change in texture. You get a balanced meal with every bite too as you get some protein, carbs, and veggies all in one kimbap. If you're feeling a bit hungry or are in a group, I definitely recommend getting this as I haven't really seen it anywhere else! I also tried the udon with vegetable tempura and right away, I was blown away by the looks of the tempura and udon. First of all, I did not expect to get so many tempura pieces, as I'm always used to getting only a few, so the fact that there are multiple fried carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and onions make it worth it to me. Yoodon doesn't skimp out on the quality as well, as each piece was crispy on the outside, yet juicy on the inside. Aside from that, the udon has scallions, carrots, and spinach leaves inside, which makes for a very balanced and nutritious meal. The broth was really nice, as it was full of umami and had a hint of sweetness. The udon noodles were nice and chewy, which meant that they were cooked to perfection and they were great for slurping up the broth as well. All in all, the udon was very refreshing and balanced out the slightly salty, yet not very greasy tempura due to how lightly fried the vegetables were. That's how tempura should be and Yoodon prepared it perfectly! Besides the food, the service was also exceptional as the owner made sure to refill our glasses with water every time it was running low and she also made sure that she got our orders correct. The food also came out really quickly, so we never had to wait too long for anything. It was honestly a very enjoyable experience dining in at Yoodon and I would definitely come back again. Overall, Yoodon is the definition of "more than meets the eye" as this small restaurant has a lot of dishes that not only look good, but also taste really good too. They have a wide variety of dishes, so if you want to try everything, you're going to have to come back for more, which I certainly will be doing! read more

An absolutely delicious small family-owned restaurant. Food is yummy and service is great. I usually get the stir fried udon with brisket and I make it a bit spicy - super tasty and pretty filling. I have also tried the yoodon kimbap and it is soooooo gooooood, soooo bad for you but so delicious. It's basically a kimbap rolled in donkatsu, how could you go wrong?
