This was a really spacious place to get Korean Chinese food in the Bayside area. The prices were also pretty competitive in terms of the amount food that you get and the price that you pay. I visited with my family and between the three of us, we shared two dishes off of their main menu instead of ordering from the lunch menu. We got the signature jajangmyun and tang soo chicken (instead of the default pork, honestly didn't even know this was an option!). It's a nice alternative for those who can't or don't want to eat red meat. Kimchi and yellow radish (which my family said tasted a bit salty) were the side dishes that were served. Since it was cold outside, hot barley tea was served after we had placed our order. We didn't have to wait too long for the food to come out. The jajangmyun came out first and there was a decent amount of seafood in it (clams, squid, shrimp). This also came with two bowls of kimchi soup. The tang soo chicken was the table favorite as it was very crispy but not oily tasting at all so we basically cleared the whole dish without feeling too full. It also came with a huge bowl of the sweet and sour dipping sauce on the side. I really liked and was surprised by the complimentary mini puffs coated in hardened sugar. It was like tanghulu but a pastry puff version. If this was a menu item, I'd definitely order it. The staff were very attentive and I never had to wait long to order or flag down the server for the check. We arrived just before their lunch hour rush so it went from just us being in the restaurant to the whole place becoming half full. The bathroom area felt quite aged and could use a deep clean is all I can say.
Came here for dinner on a Sunday and had a great experience. The staff were super friendly and the restaurant wasn't too busy so we were seated right away. The restaurant was well lit and had a cozy homey feeling to it. The food was delicious! We got the Jja Jang Myun, which was perfectly cooked and really loved how it wasn't too sweet or salty. The Tang Soo Yuk was also delicious - nicely crispy and we kept the dipping on the side. Would definitely recommend those two dishes!
Came in on a quiet weeknight and I was the 3rd table being served at the time. You can easily miss it if you're driving on northern since this restaurant's on the service road side. Basic interior, spacious and comfy to me. I ordered the A20. It was a combo of sweet and sour chicken, a seafood kimchi noodle soup and the black bean noodles. The apps (banchan) I received were kimchi and some onions/yellown pickles. Just ok. I like the fact you can try all of them in 1 dish order. However, nothing really stood out. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good. It did its job getting me full and satisfied but it was just mediocre. I don't think I would come back because there are so many other Korean restaurants around.
Stopped by Joong Koog Jip on a Saturday at around 2 PM, and even though it was a bit busy, we got seated right away in their spacious dining area--always a nice start! This place is known for its ja jang myun (black bean noodles) and jjam pong (spicy seafood noodles), so naturally, I went for the half-and-half option to try both flavors. The ja jang myun came with a thick black bean sauce, pork, and veggies. The sauce is pretty rich, and while I get that it might not be everyone's thing, I really liked its subtle sweetness. It's comforting and not overly heavy. Then there was the jjam pong--spicy, packed with seafood, and honestly the perfect contrast to the ja jang myun. Having one sweet and the other spicy made them a great combo. Plus, they serve yellow pickled radish on the side, which was awesome for cleansing the palate between bites. We also ordered the tang soo yuk (sweet-and-sour pork), and here's a tip: ask for the sauce on the side. That way, you keep the pork nice and crispy! Overall, I'd say this spot has a little something for everyone. If you're not big on thick sauces, you might lean more toward the jjam pong, but personally, I loved the ja jang myun for its sweetness and the fact that it wasn't spicy (because, yeah, I can't handle too much heat!). Definitely planning to come back whenever that noodle craving hits!
It's been a while since I had Korean Chinese food. Feeling nostalgic with today's meal reminds me of childhood. So good. Everything was fresh and tasty. Staff were super nice!
We have black beans middle, sweet and sour pork, and beef pan fried noddles! Huge portion and delicious! I love Korean style Chinese restaurant and this is one of the best in the area! Have to come back soon
This Korean-style Chinese food restaurant has an interesting spin on the traditional Chinese classics, as advertised. The food is tasty and unique. The service here is very fast, probably faster than ordering from a takeout joint.
My partner and I were deciding where and what to eat for lunch; I listed several options and of the seven, he chose Joong Koog Jip, a Korean-Chinese restaurant near his place, which was just perfect since I was craving tangsooyuk 탕수육. As it turns out, we ended up not ordering the tangsooyuk, but jajangmyun 짜장면 and japchae 잡채 instead, which exceeded our expectations. * Ja Jang Myun (Large Size) 짜장면 $11.95 This comes in small or large, with a regular, vegetarian, and "very spicy" option. We ordered the large to share and the ingredients were plentiful-- with rich, savory black bean sauce over thick, chewy noodles and lots of cubed onions, zucchini, and potatoes. There wasn't much meat, which I actually preferred, and the banchan helped in cutting the greasiness. * Japchae with Rice 밥잡채 $13.95 Carbs on top of carbs, in my opinion, but who doesn't love carbs? The japchae was slightly bland but vibrant and colorful with shredded beef, onions, carrots, cucumbers, and red and green bell peppers. And of course, you have to dip the rice in soup (we chose jjampong 짬뽕) or better yet, the leftover black bean sauce.
- Food Upon my family's visit here, we ordered Kanpung shrimp, omurice, and a large order of their signature jajang myun. The shrimp came with a sweet and spicy sauce similar to that you get with tang su yuk (in which I also reccomend as I tried that in another visit here). Can't go wrong with the jahang myun as this dish is their specialty. In the sauce were baby shrimp, oyster, potato, and onion. I would reccomend sharing this with others as the portion is huge. Lastly, the omurice. We packed this dish togo as we could not finish the things we ordered. Later on when I tried it, it was pretty good. Mild flavor, great for those who don't want anything too strong. - Service Good service, was checked up on a few times by the gentleman who filled our ice waters. - Ambiance Big windows in the facility, good to let sunlight in. There is a big flatscreen TV playing the olympics! Beware parking, it was a little challenging. There is a small lot by the building that can hold 2 cars at most. Otherwise you may need to find street parking.
The best place to go for a bowl of jjangmyeon ~ quiet and peaceful aroma. Great staff and yummy complimentary dessert when paying the bill! Enjoy with friends, family and more. Thank you for a wonderful meal
Post pandemic, this place is still a solid 5 stars. They give very generous portions of black bean noodles (jjajangmyeon) and spicy seafood noodle (jjampong). I find the noodles to be flavorful and filling. Other go-to favorites include sweet and sour pork (tangsuyuk or ggan poong yook) and also the nonspicy version of jjampong. I can never finish a full jjajangmyeon on my own and it is definitely shareable if you aren't too hungry or want to try a bunch of things off the menu. They also give these really delicious sweet crunchy corn balls as "dessert" when you ask for the check. They make them in house as well I believe. I like how the restaurant is open relatively late and has spacious seating inside, and they package their takeout very well with the noodles and black bean sauce separate.

Great little spot in Queens to enjoy some jjang jjang myun and tangsuyuk! The service is friendly and the meal is well-priced! If you're craving jjang jjang myun or jampong, i recommend the subway ride over from the city! The portion size of the tangsuyuk is large-- split accordingly or take it home! Cheers

This is one of my favorite comfort foods. You can also order the dynamic trio here at Joong Koog Jip - jjajangmyeon, tangsuyuk, and jjamppong, all in one dish. You know after a meal like this, you're gonna be full. Generous portions and very comforting meal. Specializing in Korean Chinese food, Joong Koog Jip is a comforting and solid spot to order your favorite Korean-Chinese dishes. It actually translates to Chinese House in Korean! - Jjajangmyeon - noodles in black bean sauce. Filled with onions, zucchini, potatoes, and a whole lot of noodles - Tangsuyuk - sweet, sour, and crispy pork. The dish also comes with broccoli, pineapple, and onions. The pork is crunchy, crispy, and covered in a jellylike sweet and sour dipping sauce - Jjamppong - spicy seafood noodle soup. Same noodles as the jjajangmyeon, except in a red, hot, savory, spicy broth. Inside, there's shrimp, onions, squid, and mussels. It's rich, hearty, savory, spicy, and really slurpable. Pretty good restaurant! Service is amazing and the seating is comfortable. I got the kimchi fried rice and pork & chive mandoo, which were not bad. I think the best thing on the menu though is A14, Jjam Jja Myun. read more
I give this location four stars bc the noodle texture in my experience was better at the other location. The soup was really good tho, spicy and flavorful. The sweet and sour pork dip seems to be tastier at the other location too. But i loved the dessert ball, and the bathroom is pretty spacious. read more
Stopped by for lunch with my bf and a few others. We ordered 4 jjajangmyuns, a tangsooyook and an order of dumplings. The noodles were bomb dot com. I thought it could use a bit more sauce but it was delish! The tangsooyook and dumplings were fried phenomenally. The serving sizes here are huge! Make sure you come with an appetite. Apparently this place doesn't use MSG but I'm not sure how accurate that statement is. I didn't feel great after eating here.... But it was delicious. read more
Ive probably eaten here or ordered take out well over 10x from here. What happened to the quantity? They downsized the side dishes and dessert balls from 8oz 1/2 pint round containers to mini condiment containers. Quite saddened and disappointed now. When picking up, the boy at the front desk completely ignored us several times; workers speak primarily Korean - just fyi. The tang soo yook is crunchy and savory. Other times, I usually get jja jjang myeon or jjam ppong. Food is good but service not so much. read more

I love getting trio combos. I wish they gave more noodles because the jjajangmyeon sauce was so good. Portions are super filling. Their kimchi is probably the best kimchi I've had at any restaurant! 10/10 service. It was busy on a Sunday morning and they were still super attentive. read more

We drove over to this place after a friend of mine recommended this place for great jjajjamyun in deep Queens. The restaurant is large, with plentiful seating and very quick service. We ordered pork, jjajjamyun, and mandoo, which was priced very well for the quantity of food provided! For example, the large jjajjamyun was only $12 and it came with so much food that you could easily share it with two. Taste-wise, the jjajjamyun was pretty mild for my preference, so I added some soy sauce and gochugaru that they provided on the side to spice it up, but it's also tasty as is! The pork was perfectly cooked and crispy, perfect for dipping in the sauce, The mandu was ok, it was very mild and healthy tasting but they provide soy sauce and vinegar on the side for dipping. Overall, great bang for buck and will definitely visit again in the future! (for reference, we arrived on a Sunday night around 7pm, parking was plentiful and the restaurant was not very crowded.) read more

If you ever crave a carb loaded meal, Jajangmyun are the way to go. And of course you CAN'T just order Jajangmyun so of course I ordered like 4 entrees for 2 people. - Jajangmyun: I ordered this to-go, and they separated the sauce from the noodles. However by the time they got home, the noodles were stuck together -- reboiling them did the trick. - Jjampong: our favorite out of everything we ordered. It came with an abundance of seafood (which was a tad bit over cooked) and was ACTUALLY spicy. Very delicious, and warms you right up. - Kimchi Mandoo: a bit overpriced for how many you get, but tastes good! - Tangsoo chicken: also pretty pricey IMO, but when you got sweet and sour fried chicken cravings, these really do hit the spot. They separate the sauce and fried chicken for take out. If taking these Togo, I would recommend reheating the chicken by baking at high heat (450F) for ~10 min to get it super crispy again before tossing it in the sauce. I guess for the amount we ordered, it should feed 4-5 people so they gave us extra fried sweet doughnut balls which was the cherry on top to this carb feast. read more

I came with my girlfriend to have a simple dinner. It was quite effective, because the portions were good and the food was delicious. The staff were nice and accommodating. We ordered the Ja Jang Myun and Jjam Pong. My girlfriend asked them to make it extremely as spicy as possible, because she loves her spice and they were able to accommodate and impress. We would definitely come back here. read more

this restaurant had a nice family vibe, it was pretty clean with no crazy decorations and it felt like a really nice place to be able to socialize and catch up with friends because there weren't any crazy distractions. i had a bit of a language barrier because i don't know Korean but it didn't make any real hassle. The jjam jja myun was amazing! it was a really delicious combination of a hot seafood soup with the classic black bean noodles. the soup was hot and spicy but the seafood was a little overcooked and gummy. the overall flavor was really good and i definitely recommend the tangsoo chicken if you're coming with a group because that sweet and sour sauce was really flavorful. it all paired really nicely with the beer! read more
Stopped here for a lunch take out right before my hair appointment and was very impressed. It's super authentic here where they answer the phone and greet you at the door in Korean (although I'm not Korean). I ordered a japchae over rice which I didn't know but came with a soup thing and the usually Korean sides (Kim chi, pickled radish, some onions? And two sweet balls). The meal was ready for pick up pretty quick and came piping hot ready to eat. Overall everything was delicious! read more

Stopped by here last week for the Jia Jiang Mian Black Bean Noodles. This was my first timing having the noodles other than the instant ramen version, and it was delicious. The noodles are made in store, along with the sauce. Super fresh, light, and clean tasting. We made an order for pick up and it took about 20 minutes since they make everything fresh. Since the wait took longer than expected, they gave us an extra one free! The portions are super generous for the price, and the staff is super friendly. The establishment was clean and super welcoming. I highly recommend stopping by, and I'll be coming back! read more

Very satisfying place for Korean noodle. Recommended by by sis and we went try in a Saturday lunch time. The service is good and quick. The portion for every dish is just way too big. Very crunchy yummy pork with sour garlic & pepper sauce. The sauce is mild and not to sour which is very yummy and goes well with the fried pork. The UI Myun has lots of seafood inside, the soup is fresh with a touch of sweetness underneath. Sooo much noodles in and definitions very filling. Strongly recommended. read more
Was starving after work and decided to get some traditional jajang myun (black bean noodle) cause that always hits the spot and whenever at a Korean restaurant you absolutely have to order tang soo yuk basically deep fried pork. But if you can't eat pork then there are beef, chicken options. Checked in and got a order of deep fried dumplings on the house which was delish but beware because it's piping hot when served. Two orders of noodles and a massive plate of fried pork for $42... you just can't beat that. I always leave here stuffed and still have left overs for the next meal. The best part is when paying for the bill, they bring out a small dish of fried dough balls coated in sugar and it's not something you can order off the menu but a little treat to end the night with. read more

Joong Koog Jip's other location (other one is in Flushing). The menu is exactly the same, but this location is much larger than their Flushing restaurant. Order: - Jajjangmyun (4/5) - Jjam Pong (5/5) - Shrimp Fried Rice (5/5) - Seafood Ul Myun (5/5) Pros: - Larger restaurant than their Flushing location - Food is tasty - Portion size is HUGE - Same menu as Flushing location Cons: - I just felt like the Jajjangmyun tasted better at the Flushing location Overall: - If you want the taste of Joong Koog Jip but more space, this location is great read more
This is my favorite place to go for Jajangmyeon. The Jajangmyeon has a very clean taste and is very reasonably price. The Tangsuyuk and sauce was also very good. The pork was high quality although I feel that it was a little overpriced for what it was. I really love the little dessert thing that they give after you ask for the check. A suggestion that I have would be for the Jajangmyeon is that it is not salty enough. They should put more seasoning into the Jajangmyeon because although it has a clean taste, it tastes bland and I had to put my own seasoning in it. read more
Since my review, I was pleasantly surprised to see a response from the restaurant inviting my family back. I'm not sure if or when I can gather my family again for an indoor restaurant outing, but I'm adding a star as I appreciate the gesture. I'll update further if we can make it back to see if the food is back to par and the experience is better. read more
