We got the corned beef hash, Lox plate, meat plate, pancakes, French toast, and chai tea. Everything was good! We are spoiled in Detroit with very delicious corned beef hash, so nothing can't compare. Yolk's was still very good just a bit greasy. I would have to say my favorite was the lox plate because there was a good ratio of salmon, tomato, onion, and capers. I would suggest asking for more cream cheese for your bagel too. I had a California Crepe dish which came with pancakes, others had Eggs Benedict, Eggs with Corned Beef Hash, and a skillet. Coffee was good, service was good, but the food was so-so. I liked the pancakes more than I liked my main dish. The crepes were too sweet for the California filling for me. Really, I just can't see waiting 30 minutes again for this place. I have been coming here for a while and usually love coming here but I had a bad experience with my waiter, Radu. I was contemplating if I should write this or not (I don't like writing reviews with a staff's name in a negative light). My parents and I to come here for breakfast. The restaurant was busy but was seated right away. Radu was our waiter and he was our waiter during our last visit. Because we went during the rush hour, we had to wait about 45 min for our food to come out and it was hard to get our waiter's attention for a refill of coffees and to get our checks. He did not come to check on us unless we called him over. When Radu gave us our check, he pointed at the tip calculation section and said told my dad to tip one of the calculated amounts for the tip... That's not okay! First, that was very unprofessional. As my friends who are waiters told me and also from what I have known since for a while, a tip is based on the service a customer received (my parents were a bit annoyed already before getting the check because of the lack of attention and slow services but we understood since it was the rush hour). Second, we gave Radu a decent tip during our first visit. I would understand if we didn't tip but that was not the case. I was in shock and questioning if I heard correctly at that moment when he said that to us. It took me a minute to realize what happened. I still gave him a tip because I want to give him a benefit of the doubt that he was having a rough day but the more I think about it and the more I talk to people about it, the more I am questioning my doubt. I hope that other people do not experience this. I am sad to say that I will not be coming back to this location again for a very long time. read more

Stayed at the Hilton in the South Loop and the hotel staff recommended that we try Yolk out for breakfast. It was in walking distance so we did. I got the Frittata and friends got Oatmeal and eggs with seasoned potatoes. We were all very satisfied...especially my buddy and I who got the Frittatas. Also, try out their habanero sauce. It's very tasty and not too hot. The cost is a little on the high side for breakfast but it's not enough of an issue to drop them down to 4 stars. read more

Awesome!! I love this place for breakfast. It is a busy place with vibrant contemporary decor, quick turning tables, efficient servers and the din from the highly productive kitchen. If you aren't awake when you arrive you will definitely leave feeling perky from the coffee, food and thumping dance beats (they must have BPM from XM Radio piped in here). I had breakfast here 3 mornings in a row. The crepes and French toast were awesome. Perfectly cooked and plated very nicely. Get the combo and you get eggs, sausage and bacon in addition to the crepes or French toast. The next morning, I customized my own skillet with turkey sausage, broccoli and mushrooms served with red skinned potatoes and eggs. It was so filling. We also ordered the oatmeal with bananas, brown sugar and milk. It tasted a bit light and was ok, so definitely order stuff off the griddle. Day 3, I got to try the Fruit and Nut pancakes that are made with a multi-grain batter, pecans and fruit. It was a perfect "healthy" pancake. the pancakes were light and fluffy yet dense. I would get this again. No matter what you order, the portions are huge! The servers are busy and efficient. This place is loud (lots of hard surfaces for sound to bounce off), so opt for a booth location over the counter or tables in the center if you want to have a conversation. Being new to Chicago, thanks to a little bit of research on yelp, we discovered Yolk which was only just a few blocks away from our hotel. As the name suggests, if you're an egg lover this is "eggsactly" the place to be (sorry for sounding so cheesy) . They have pretty much all kinds of eggs on the menu. Fried, poached, omelet, pancake, you name it. I ordered poached eggs with home fries, bacon, sausage along with chocolate milk. ( I know I'm very adventurous when it comes to breakfast) The reason why I give it 4 stars is even though everything I ordered was pretty safe, there was some room for error like the bacon being over cooked or the chocolate milk not being cold. Best red velvet French toast ever! I was in Chicago for a few days and ate breakfast here twice! I almost ate here again on my last day but was worried about missing my flight. The French toast was filled with this amazing sweet cream-cheese and topped with sliced strawberries and whip cream. You don't even need syrup! The French toast was soft and cake-like. Several things impressed us about this place. First of all, you could see on yelp the live time wait and then you could save yourself a place in line even before arriving at the restaurant. Once we arrived, it took less than 10 seconds for us to be greeted. We probably waited another two minutes before being given a table. It seemed like a really smooth, well run operation. The food was just fine. I love brisket and they had a good one. I like their homemade hot sauce. My wife had a crepe that she said was good. It's a great brunch place to go with some friends. I ordered the tour de france but was disappointed with the small portions... My friend ordered the South of the Border Benny and I think we eyed each other like we should have switched orders. Loved how packed it was. I had a friend come to visit and this place was of coursed packed on a Sunday. We had to wait an hour, but the wait was worth it as usual. The food came out quickly and was cooked really well! Waitstaff was super nice, despite being completely slammed with orders. Last time I got the Countryside skillet so this time, I got the Tuscan Frittata, which is chicken breast, sun dried tomatoes, basil, and potatoes. Normally I love this place it was our favorite breakfast place in the city but recently we ordered our food through Doordash and when we received it it literally looked like they split the skillet in half and threw it in the container. At first I thought did my doordash driver take some of my food but then I called and she said that that's the size of the skillets and let me tell you I've been coming here doe a while and ordering it for delivery I've never received a skillet that small and the potatoes were half cooked I honestly couldn't even finish the skillet.
