I didn't want pancakes or bread, so I asked to have fruit instead. So with the small side of fruit I thought I would be charged $2 only. When I received my check I was surprised to see that I was charged $4 for my fruit. I don't understand why they charged me $4 instead of $2 especially since I didn't order any pancakes or toast. Despite any reviews you read and unless there is a secret hidden menu, the ONLY vegan option was steel cut oatmeal (made with oat milk). I even asked as I thought maybe they just didn't have it listed on the menu. It was exactly as you'd expect oatmeal to be. Be ready to spend several bucks more to make your oatmeal actually tasty with fruit or nut/granola addons. Come on it's 2026 at a downtown city breakfast joint. I had breakfast at Yolk for the first time since 2013 and, I can confirm that it (sadly) hasn't changed since my last visit. We visited on a busy Sunday morning around 11am. It was buzzing with diners, so it took about ten minutes to be seated. Our waitress was really nice and very attentive. I don't recall her name, but she was a young, Indian lady. She had a radiant smile and sunny disposition. She didn't rush us and took the time to ensure that she had gotten our order correct. i ordered the hash browns, eggs, bacon and toast. The eggs were great but everything else left something to be desired. The bacon had a lot of gristle on it and was very salty. The hash browns weren't cooked enough. They weren't browned at all, and the toast wasn't toasted enough. It was also chewy and much harder than I would have expected. My sister ordered the corned beef hash. She was disappointed because there was very little corned beef! It was mostly hash browns... she said if she'd known that the serving was so small she would've ordered it as a side. She felt the same way I did about the hash browns and toast. They also charged her $4 for a toddler-sized glass of orange juice. I understand that it's freshly squeezed, but the size was a complete rip-off. The environment is louder than most restaurants, but it's comfortable. The bathroom was also clean. My sister wanted to let the waitress know that the corned beef serving was minimal so she could warn other patrons before they ordered it. She genuinely wasn't trying to get a discount, but the waitress insisted on mentioning the complaint to her manager. She was very apologetic even though it wasn't her fault. Anyway, our waitress comes back and says that the manager had taken the corned beef off the bill. That was unexpected and a very nice thing to do. The service here is quick and friendly and our order was taken right away. When the pancake came out I was shocked the butter didn't melt onto it but sat on top which showed me the pancake wants very warm. It was pretty slow but there were people in each booth on either side and the table next to us. There was music playing overhead but it wasn't overbearing.
