The dumplings were pretty good! We had the dim sum sampler. IT had 2 shrimp dumplings, 2 chicken dumplings, 2 pan fried pork dumplings, 2 sui mai (shrimp and pork) and 2 veggie spring rolls. We didnt eat the spring rolls because they looked a little overcooked. The pork dumplings were my favorite. The filling of the krab rangoon was very good, but overcooked. Came here around 5pm in the middle of the week to pick up some food to go. 1-800-Lucky was empty except for one gentleman enjoying his food. It was raining outside, so no one there either, but set a cool vibe. I stopped at the table and there was no one to greet me nor was there anyone at the business directly to the left. I asked the man working the counter of the spot to the right after standing there for about 5 minutes if he knew where the person was, since Yip was clearly open. All the signs were on and the massive steaming table was FULL of food cooking. He said that there is someone but maybe she was in the bathroom or in the back grabbing something. I continued waiting and almost 7 minutes later (tbh I should've just left by then but I was really craving dim sum), she finally emerged from the back on FaceTime. Nothing else in hand, definitely not from the bathroom (odd that I feel the need to specify that), and seemingly unconcerned that I was waiting for her. She took my order and asked me to take a seat while my food prepared. I was surprised when I had to wait an extra 30 minutes for steamed food that was already being steamed from before I ordered. A guy placed an order about 20 minutes after me and his was done at the same time mine was. While I don't know what he ordered, his bag was just as full as mine. In the end, the dim sum is mediocre at best and wayyyy overpriced. This is coming from a dim sum aficionado who's tried multiple Yip locations across SFL. Save your time, money, and hunger. I've been to Yip in the Aventura Mall and it was ok, but Yip in Wynwood has been awful, especially for how expensive it is. The chicken dumplings were mediocre even by American standards and even Costco frozen dumplings tasted better and fresher than these. The boba milk teas (thai iced tea and taro) were both very watered down and not sweet. While I appreciate when boba isn't too sweet, I still need flavor, which these drinks lacked. The texture was fine. Also, the boba was $11!! I've never had boba this expensive even at the most fancy authentic boba shops with multiple add-ons. If the boba was $6, I wouldn't be complaining as much about the quality since I know Miami is expensive, but $11 is such a rip off for what you get. The ambiance of 1-800-Lucky and the service was fine. As for the Taro Milk Tea (0/5), this was the biggest disappointment in a very long time. This either needs to be bettered or completely removed from their menu. All the deep fried stuff was pretty good but everything else was just OK. The har gow was SUPER fishy. *Soft Shell Crab Bao - The soft shell crab was super bitter and mushy. I read that as not very fresh. Yikes! *Xiao Long Bao - it was like lukewarm and the inside was mushy so either seemed like low quality ingredients or that it had been frozen for too long. Parking close to this area is mainly street parking. We parked 2 blocks away and walked down. This location isn't Easy to find, it doesn't say YIP outside. It's across the street from Electric Lady and we just asked the security where YIP was and he let us in. We went into a food court type of environment. There were different restaurants within that area. We ended up at YIP and ordered a variety of items. We got shrimp dumplings, steamed pork dumplings, vegetable Spring rolls, and Keanu Rangoon . I enjoyed the spring rolls the most and I disliked the poke dumplings. It just tasted .....different from pork dumplings I've had at other places. My friend enjoyed the shrimp dumplings and the krab Rangoon tasted like cream cheese. I didn't taste any crab in Rangoon. You can pick wherever you want to sit. It was pretty warm in the food court. They didn't have reg drinks so I got a coke from the bar across the way and my friend tried one of the drinks from the bar which she liked. We are all about an Asian food hall and we found this spot inside 1-800 Lucky. Covid-19: we were able to eat outside on the patio that was very empty. We got the Shanghai Soup Dumplings, Char Siu Bao, and Crispy Mini Bao which came with a condensed milk dipping sauce. Everything was delicious. The soup dumplings were smaller than others I've had, but still just as good. The Char Siu Bao were perfect. The Crispy Mini Bao were a great, unique dessert. It's a little pricey. Each dish was very small and cost about $10. Okay. So let me start off by saying that this place is very cute, it's in the hip Wynwood area that (I've discovered not being from here) a lot of the young adults LOVE to come hang out, shop, eat and play, day or night, weekday or weekend, it's all the same. So I get it, but this area of town is A BEAST when it comes to parking, it is always full of people on the narrow sidewalks, who don't want to let you through. There's LOUD music constantly playing everywhere (why do I feel like I'm at a club on a sunday afternoon when I'm simply walking down the street.) Anyways, we were excited to eat here & were expecting dim sum... I guess this is their concept of dim sum but it's not the traditional Chinese concept AT ALL. This place is a food court, with various kinds of Asian cuisine; sushi, ramen, boba, Filipino snack foods, a bar, an ice cream stand, etc. You find your own table, you then stand in line for each vendor (if you order from various vendors- which we did), then you have to go back and pick up your order when your buzzer(s) go off. Not relaxing at all. It was so loud (music playing) that we had to yell our orders to the vendors and we didn't bother to talk much while eating because yelling at each other was just inappropriate, lol. The food was okay; Duck lettuce wraps from Gold Marquess ($20) was veggies w/ miniscule pieces of duck; Frim another vendor that I can't remember the name of- we ordered he veggie spring rolls ($7.90) which were pre-frozen & still cold in the middle, and the Shanghai soup dumplings ($8.90) had the weirdest dough texture & forgot that there's supposed to be soup inside; Joel ordered ramen from Unagi @1800 ($19.00 a bowl), he said it lacked bite and flavor. Also- at Unagi they automatically add 18% gratuity, even though they don't come to your table to take your order, they dont bring your food or anything that a server does. Rip-off. Back in my college youth era there was a cool and hip Chinese restaurant located off Lincoln and Meridian in South Beach called Miss Yip. This place was the bomb with great Cantonese dishes, plus the most delicious dumplings and buns. They closed many years ago and recently I heard of several of food stands opening baring the name Yip and decided to try it while we were in Wynwood. We ordered the Dim Sum platter which comes with spring roll, steamed shrimp, chicken and pork dumplings. I also decided to order the soft crab bao buns, everything was delicious and fresh. The dumplings were barely warm and tasted like they had been cooked prior, sat out all day and were reheated in the microwave. The wrapper was a little hard and stale already. The veggie eggroll was fresh however, but nothing to write home about. Soft shell crab also looked great presentation wise but lacked in flavor. If you're looking for fresh dumplings and come from the Bay Areas plethora of dim sum restaurants, I would skip on Yip's. read more

YIP Wynwood is located in 1-800- lucky-one of my favorite food halls. I've tried most of the food stands- by far YIP keeps me coming back!. My fave dim sum is the Shanghai soup dumpling. In the pictures you can see that I tried the dim sum sampler the green dumpling was shrimp/pork it looks small but it's it's quite big & flavorful, i prefer the steamed ones, I'm not too much into fried food, but they were tasty. I think the flavor in general is good. If you compare it to New York Chinatown dim sum it is no place near it, but for Florida, it is pretty good. The food was out almost instantly and literally every single bite was just as good as the last. The spring roll truly impressed me the most. What seems to be a staple at Asian spots, unfortunately often times turn into a greasy soggy goo, but not these, my friends, not these. The veggie spring rolls were nice and crisp on the outside with a juicy, flavorful filling. Then dipped into a sweet yet spicy sauce to complete the perfect bite. Dimsum maybe just street food to some but it requires technique and proper equipment. Yip has both plus good customer service so this equates to one of the best dim sum brunches in Miami. We came around 12:15pm on a Sunday right after opening. FYI, Yip is located inside 1800 Lucky so it gets pretty packed the later it gets so if you want to snag a table, come early. The menu is divided into 3 categories: Steamy, Crispy or Both so it just made perfect sense for us to order from each. We got the Shrimp Dumpling, BBQ Pork Bun and Shanghai Soup Dumpling from the Steamy. Flaring Shrimp Ballz and Fried Siu Mai from the Cripsy plus an order of Soft Shell Crab Bao and also on order of the Grande Shrimp Bao. Folks, there wasn't even one single thing that we didn't love. Each dim sum morsel was made fresh and tasty, the fried items were perfectly crisp and piping hot and both bao buns were just heavenly. These were clearly crafted with care and made with high-quality ingredients so I could see why the prices might discourage some patrons. Even though this visit was a special treat, we would gladly come back and order the same items again because they are worth it! The dim sum from the steamy and crispy sections is about $6.50 per order and the bao buns are $9 per 2. And oh, we also had a dessert called Crispy Mini Bao with Lech Condensada. Wow! Came back to Yip Miami locates in 1-800-Lucky and was happily surprised. This time I was able to try some more of their dim sum. I still recommend the crab buns. Probably one of the best things in the menu and in 1-800-lucky. I was also able to try their soup dumplings. There's nothing like a soft light outside with a soupy moist center. That's how I can describe the soup dumplings. Delicious. Their dim sum is out of this world. Their siu mai was my next best bite. It was crispy on the outside with a soft center. Perfect sweet and sour dipping sauce. Literally drooling right now talking about it. Last but not least I had a bubble tea with their dessert: crispy mini baos with leche condensada. WOOOOOWW. That was good! The baos were nicely baked and were paired perfectly with the sauce. The tea was also so tasty and matched great with the dessert. Like milk with cookies. It's been kind of hard to find good dim sum in Miami but luckily found some at Yip, which is one of five restaurants located inside of the food hall of 1-800-Lucky. Situated inside this cool bar/dining space in Wynwood, you're able to choose from several different kinds of dim sum, dumplings, and bao buns. They also have a dessert dumpling, which I thought was pretty neat and haven't seen anywhere else, as well as boba tea. Today my group and I shared six plates, one of which we knew we wanted double of so we ordered two of it. That was the soup dumplings, which I think is probably my favorite. It's like a regular dumpling with shrimp inside of it but is also filled with broth... kind of like wonton soup in one bite! When you bite into it, the liquid pours out. It's definitely wild! Just don't break it beforehand, and definitely wait until it cools down a little bit first. The other plates we had were the crispy siu miu, steamed siu miu, shrimp, shrimp and chive, and shrimp bao buns. Honestly it was all really good! Everything was cooked perfectly and had loads of flavor. The dipping sauce for the crispy siu miu was a nice sweet opposite to the dumplings. The bao buns were messy when split but that's all part of the fun; they also have a small kick to them which wasn't too hot to handle and added to their dimension.
