Had a solid dinner experience here on a Monday night with a friend of mine. I found this place to be on the pricier side, but what isn't anymore? Downtown rent in Miami I can only imagine is expensive. We ordered three plates which included the Ikan Pesmol/Balado, the Nasi Goreng Special, and Bihum Ayam Jakarta. All of them very different but very tasty and fresh in all aspects. We also got a miso soup that came with one of the main plates which was yummy. I think our server was a bit shy and could've been a bit more interactive and attentive overall, but she was nice nonethless. We the tax and tip, it was $100.
Came for lunch yesterday and had the Lontong Cap Gomeh, which is a tasty combination of chicken curry, rendang, steamed vegetables, and small pieces of rice cake topped with garlic crackers (aka shrimp chips). It was as delicious as always!! Another coworker, who also had it, enjoyed it as well. My other 5 coworkers had the Nasi Goreng Special, which offers special fried rice, opor ayam, rendang, steamed vegetables, pickled carrot and cucumber, and garlic crackers. Everyone loved their food and the waitress kindly allowed us to get separate checks, which made everything so much easier. They take credit cards so don't worry about getting cash before you go!
Amazing! I got there when they opened and was seated right away. The server was kind and attentive. The restaurant is pretty small and elaborately decorated. Its a casual spot. I ordered the bento box and every single item on there was delicious! I really loved the beef and the chicken curry. Its was a nice way to try various items, especially since it was my first time trying Indonesian food. I really want to come back and try their Soda Gembira and sushi! This is a TRUE hidden gem.
Fantastic little spot! Food was very flavorful, great serving sizes, great presentation, and good service as well. Great spot for group lunch or dinner.
Bali cafe was on my list of Asian restaurants to try. It's been very hard to find what I like. My friend and I came after a yoga class needing a much deserved meal and they sat us in the fun little booths up front. I wanted the Indonesian food specifically but they have a lot of other different Asian dishes on the menu. I ordered the rengdang sapi set that came with a miso soup and I loveeeed the coconut sauce in the beef. I never had it before but I know the sauce was gonna be fire. The beef was shreddy (think of it like pulled pork) so there was a lot of yummy flavor infused into it. It came with rice and some veggies. It was a pretty good portion for me. The miso soup was ok but I would love if they offer a more Indonesian type style soup instead to go with the set. I also got the Jasmine tea (unsweetened) but I think it was quite watered down and I didn't taste much of the Jasmine flavor. Overall, I'd love to go back and try the other things on the menu. :)
Food (5/5): Amazing food and definitely authentic Indonesian. We came here a couple of times during our trip to Miami because the food is that good. I'm Indonesian and so was a friend that joined us, we both liked it. My fiancee was also a huge fan. We ordered the opor ayam, nasi goreng special, ikan balado, soto Betawi, gado gado, and rendang. Except the soto Betawi all of the dishes were amazing. The rendang was tender and flavorful, the ikan balado had really well made fish with great sauce. The only issue was the soto Betawi being too salty but that might've been because we got the last of the batch. Besides that absolutely amazing and even better than some restaurants in actual Indonesia. Service (5/5): Awesome and super friendly service. I was able to speak Indonesian to the servers and they had a great attitude. The food came out fast and we really enjoyed the experience. We noticed that some people wanted to order Japanese food but the Japanese chef was out of town. We only wanted the Indonesian food so this was not a problem for us. Ambiance (5/5): Chill vibe with authentic Indonesian decor. Lots of culture and displays available highlighting our culture. Also good amount of seating indoor and outdoor available with decent amount of space.
First time having indonesian food in awhile! This place is a mom and pop hole in the wall shop that exceeded my expectations. I forgot the names that my friend and I ordered but it was the specialty dishes. The service was quick, easy, friendly, and the vibe was super casual which I liked. Definitely going to come here or get takeout next time i'm in miami.
5/5: nasi rames. The rice and all the toppings are out of this world. The salted egg added a nice fragrance. 4.5/5: laksa. It's lighter than Singaporean style laksa. 3/5: bihun basko kuah. The meatball is just flour, it doesn't taste like 100% meat. The location is super convenient . It's a tiny shop but very clean inside.
There are some meals that you go back to thinking about long after the experience, and this is one of mine! Bali Cafe is unassuming and tucked away into Downtown Miami, but an absolute gem of a find. The interior is cozy and casual, and being there feels like a warm hug. The food is transformative: comforting yet complex, and an incredible variety of dishes that are all actual knockout hits. I would HIGHLY recommend doing the Rijstattel Indonesian feast: $35.99 each for a minimum of two people, and a lovely way to try as many things as possible from this place for an insane value. We got to sample everything from yummy soup, salad, lumpia and siumai starters to fish, chicken, and beef mains. Every single thing we tried blew my mind. If I absolutely had to pick, my favorite selections were the Asian salad, Beef Rendang, and Ikan Goreng. A million percent worth visiting and I plan on returning many times!!
It's been quite a while since we've eaten here and it's as good as ever. It's a bit cramped, but that also means people like it! My husband had the rendang which came with a small bowl miso. It's shredded beef with steamed rice and other stuff. I had the Bihun Ayam Jakarta. This is abol of steamed rice noodle with shredded chicken and mushrooms, 2 quail eggs, and a side bowl of broth and 2 small meatballs. Both were fresh and very tasty. We're glad we revisited.
This hidden gem is a cozy Indonesian restaurant located in downtown Miami. The server was exceptionally friendly; since I am Indonesian, we started chatting in Bahasa Indonesia, which created a warm atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious-- we ordered classic dishes such as gado-gado, Nasi Remes with a variety of flavorful condiments, and a tender, savory ayam. Every dish was expertly prepared and full of authentic flavors. Thank you to Sita and her team for a wonderful dining experience!
This family-run restaurant fights for my favorite spot to eat in all of Miami. You are treated so kindly, the ambience is so comfortable, and the food never misses. I have visited several times before making a review, and everything I have tried has been absolutely delicious. The flavors are complex and warm and appeal to a variety of Asian tastes. I recommend asking for their homemade chili sauces on the side and the "soda gembira" (happy soda) is a treat for a sweet tooth. For the fish - ask for the mixture of the two sauces!!! One aromatic, one with a kick. Bali Cafe is one of those places I'll bring family, I'll bring new friends who visit, I'll keep coming again and again.
Had a pleasant dinner at Bali Cafe! I read all the good reviews and was intrigued enough to go all the way downtown to try it. It's right next to the Metromover station, which made it very convenient. Inside is small, but full of character. Our waitress is very welcoming and attentive, the food was amazing. The best salad I've ever had, and the Ayam Bumbu Kecap was delicious as well. Can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu.

Authentic Indonesian restaurant in the heart of downtown miami! True mom & pop shop with Indonesian decor everywhere. For apps, we tried both Lumpia's (chicken & veggie. They were both amazing - If you like egg rolls, definitely try these out. For the main, I got the Nasi Goreng special, which is a "bento box". I loved this because I got to try a little bit of everything. My fave was the redang sapi (beef stew). The spices were so flavorful & delicious. Friendly staff as well! read more

Had a pleasant dinner at Bali Cafe! I read all the good reviews and was intrigued enough to go all the way downtown to try it. Absolutely delicious gem of a restaurant. It has an unassuming exterior, a wonderfully pleasant interior and very memorable entrees! Service was fast and accommodating. Make sure you get the white fish with the two different sauces. I would come back and get this alone. It's an absolute FLAVORBOMB and I love that everything here is not too salty, the perfect combo of savory, spicy, sweet and not greasy. YUM! We also enjoyed the house salad, the bento box, and dry egg noodles. Brought a party of twelve and they were so accommodating in quickly getting the space ready for us. Also make sure that you ask for chilli sauces the habanero is especially good and spicy. read more
I was super excited to go to this restaurant because I don't see many Indonesian restaurants. I tried my best to not over order because I wanted to try so many food. At the end, we ordered rendang sapi, Soto betawi, and opor ayam. My fiance and I love Soto betawi, but this restaurant made it way too salty. The meat inside was way too dry. I was a bit disappointed at this soup. I felt like we got the leftover of the soup and they reheated it that's why the meat was so dry. However, the other two dishes were very yummy. The rendang was super tender and flavorful. The chicken curry was tender and delicious also. The service was good and she checked up on us. There was only one server and I think she handled it very well by herself. The decorations were very cool. They have Indonesian statues and pictures everywhere. I thought I went into a museum. Overall, I enjoyed the food here. read more

As someone who has backpacked through Asia and Bali in particular, I am pleased to have this restaurant right by my place in downtown. It's been awhile since I've had this ethnic food and the couple entrees I tried were so on point. Prices are typical Miami but the cuisine is anything but! It is a small joint behind Mama Tried and can be easily missed as there is a bit of shrubbery to take your mind out of the city and into the tropical jungle that is Denpasar. It tends to fill up fast for lunch so make sure you get there early! The staff is nice and the artwork inside is very traditional and welcoming. It's always great to try different cultural experiences and I advise anyone, especially those that never leave Brickell, to support these small businesses. I tried the _ which had 2 quail eggs and such a flavorful sauce with meatballs served on the side. Needless to say I immediately mixed it all together to make a noodle dish a slight soupy combo that had those Asian spices that are so near and dear to my heart. My best friend ordered the _ with fried shrimp and after a taste of her dish I was happy that these two options are fantastic selections there at the Bali Cafe. Stop by next time you are feeling adventurous or just want a damn good meal! WOW! I was truly blown away by this place. Wow. We were seated in the best table in the house - the one in the window with the seat on the ledge. Our waitress was very nice. We got the Ketoprak and Gado Gado. Both of them looked the exact same from the top with the shrimp chips and drizzle. The ketoprak was the most amazing thing I have had in a while. Super flavorful and I wish there was more! I would have liked to seen more noodle on the plate. The tofu was super soft and tender - was not flavorful itself definitely had to be dipped in the delicious sauce. The shrimp chip made for a nice scoop. The gado gado was good. lots of veggies and the potato was a surprise. Overall a good experience. read more
Delicious food and cute people. This place is a wholesome hole in the wall kinda vibe and true to that vibe the food is bomb. Inside is small and the tables are close together. I've only been for dinner and have never had to wait. Service has always been quick and helpful. Not many vegetarian items but some can be made vegetarian. Totally worth working with the limited options because the food is good and filling. I've been a few times and the laksa is my favorite. Really flavorful and a good portion. Would pick this place over some of the trendier establishments coming into downtown any day. The food is better and the prices feel fair. read more

Some food are good like Lontong cap Gomeh and Nasi campur. But Mie ayam jakarta definitely needs some improvement. It tasted very garlicky (not in a good way) and shouldn't come with western meatballs. My message to the owner: Just go get meatballs from Asian store instead of using western meatballs, it tastes so much different. Service and ambiance were fine. read more

First time having Indonesian food and loved it! This review encompasses the 2 times I have been there. Nasi Goreng Special- I got this the first time there and it was the perfect variety to try different flavors. There was a good balance of sweet, tangy, savory, and freshness in each dish. White Fish- Normally I don't like fish because fish tends to be dry and fishy but Bali Cafe has consistently impressed me. My friend got the fish the first time and it was so good that I had to go back for it myself. It's crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The two sauces give variety to each bite, and it's plenty of food, especially with the side salad. Side Salad- Best side salad I've ever had. The dressing is more complex than those simple ginger dressings at other asian restaurants. The toppings also go above and beyond, adding color and nutrition to the meal. Laksa- I'm not as big on curry but I tried my friend's laksa and it was yummy. It's loaded with veggies and other ingredients that keep the dish interesting. Es Cincau- overpriced for what you get, but still a refreshing drink. It was pretty sweet so I diluted it with some water Soda Gembira- reminds me of liquid bubblegum in a good way. also pretty sweet but was interesting to try Es Campur- love these kinds of deserts with different fruits, textures, and condensed milk Note that a lot of the dishes have peanuts in them, but they also have plenty of delish meals without peanuts. The restaurant is on the smaller end, which is true to the "cafe" part of it's name. The ambiance is clean and casual and give lunch vibes. The service was swift and I'll definitely be going back again. read more

The ambiance is wonderful but the food is even better! Great service and the best salad and hand roll I've ever had. We had the Miami heat as a hand roll and a regular roll and they were both fabulous. Don't miss this Jolene the wall- so glad we checked it out! read more

Bali Cafe is a nice break from the Cuban (albeit amazing Cuban) food that Miami has to offer with fantastic hospitality as well. I ordered the steamed shumai and laksa noodle dish. Both were delicious and priced very reasonably. I loved the use of the peanut sauce for the shumai (versus the typical soy sauce) and the laksa curry was not overpowering but very tasty. My server was also very accommodating and super nice- you can tell that this is a mom and pop shop and they deserve all the business that they get. read more

My last visit here was just ok. I had just returned from a flight and was starving so came here for dinner. The sushi looked better than it tasted. It wasn't bad, but it lacked flavor. The curry chicken dish was quite good, but I'd dint realize it was a full chicken piece like in the photo. That's not my favorite style. I would return here but it lacked the flavor punch I remember. Service was friendly. They didn't rush despite near close. Ambiance has a lot of trinkets from the culture. It's a small space. Maybe in need of a little face lift. read more

I love everything about this place, I used to bring my dates here if I thought they were special enough lol The food is delicious. I always sit in the table by the corner it's so cozy and intimate, even if the window is right next to you. I love the staff here, they're always sweet and helpful and minding their business. Very helpful and efficient. The food here is literally one of my favorites. I don't think I've ever ordered something I did not like here. I'd say I recommend but then you might all ruin it for me next time I go but I still would say you should all try it. read more
