Absolutely great place! The food is served fresh and hot. The vegetables are fresh, meat is great and food is presented beautifully. The restrooms were super clean where the toilet paper roll end is folded! This restaurant transcends all of the common misnomers of Asian restaurants. I had an avocado smoothie and the lunch chicken with broccoli and cauliflower. It came with a spring roll and soup. My family has had the spring rolls and chicken with broccoli and other options. This is one of the best Asian restaurants I have been to in my life. read more

Good Chinese - not a transcendental Asian dining experience, not fancy fusion, but good, reliable, tasty Chinese. Almost everything on the menu is good, from what I can tell. Be careful - if you say spicy, its going to be spicy. Owners are Taiwanese which impacts the menu and food, somewhat. read more

We are a couple from NY, VERY much into chinese/taiwanese food. We've been to dozens if not hundreds of such restaurants in NY area. We came for the weekend for a family visit and came for dinner at Yen's. We were shocked! extremely high quality food, extremely authentic, the owner who is very involved in taking care of all the customers is really motivated to make the best taiwanese food she can based on her mother's delicious recipes. the food is excellent. we were 16 people so I got to try many dishes- all good. I recommend the chicken dish (not on the menu)- chicken cooked in a pot with basil. Fantastic. Amazing experience. better than 99% of the places in chinatown, NY. Wow!! read more

The most authentic Chinese restaurant (as far as I know) in Northern Virginia! It's a tiny hole-in-the-wall built into the side of an office building, but Chinese people in the area know all about it. Huge menu in both Chinese and English. Great place for kids, too, who can order a gazillion different types of fruity drinks and homemade sodas. Docking one star for the outdated, beat-up and uncomfortable furniture. But the food and service is great. read more

My husband and I came in because the reviews were so great, and we were not disappointed. The lunch was pretty cheap and fantastic... and the crab rangoons were excellent. It was less than $30 for lunch for two with an appetizer. Highly recommend, and we definitely will be coming back. It seems like they may have outgrown their space though! There is not much room to sit inside but it's worth the wait. read more

Actually, can't really properly rate it because I didn't get a chance to eat here. Had been wanting to try it for many years as it's been an Ashburn institution and finally found a reason to go........unfortunately, we walked in last Sunday at noon to an empty restaurant and witnessed a full-on brawl between the owner (presumably) and the lady cook who were screaming at each other at the top of their lungs. He was yelling at her and repeatedly telling her she was fired and to get out and she was screaming back in Chinese, all right in front of us. It was all rather surreal and we didn't want any part of it as the argument was escalating rapidly so we promptly turned around and walked out, never to return. So sad I'll never get to see what this place is all about but certainly not a good omen from the start. read more

3.5 stars... 4 for the smoothies and 3 for the food. The place seemed very clean and the staff was very friendly. Its very cozy inside, I think there are 5 booths total. The menu is your standard Chinese. The food is good, but its not amazing. To me, the food is very similar in quality to Jasmine in Leesburg, the only other Chinese place in Loudoun that is worth visiting. It is a bit more reasonably priced than Jasmine. This is really as good as it gets around here. The surprise was the smoothies, very fresh and very tasty. We will probably be back, but it will be the smoothies that bring us back, no as much the food. read more

My favorite Chinese food place in the area. Food is delicious! You can tell it's fresh, we order once a week. Nicest people in the world work there, recognize you immediately, and deliver with a huge "Hello!" and smile on their face. read more

AMAZING!! Wow! I echo many of the other reviewers who state it is great food. I am on business and was staying at embassy suites - so kind they even brought me plate, utensils, etc. I ordered delivery - crispy beef, cucumber avocado salad and spring roll. They brought it and the crispy beef wasn't covered so it stayed crispy even after delivery upon the first bite. The avocado cucumber salad was so fresh, crisp and light. The spring rolls also were crunchy and full of fresh ingredients. I would highly recommend trying this place for delivery if ever in town on business. Simply Delicious! read more

Made review on old account but was just there and this is authentic. They are from China and came here to open the restaurant. Have been going there since they opened. My Chinese friends even say its authentic. The owner is super nice. read more

Been here a few times and haven't really been blown away by anything in particular. They do offer what a lot of Chinese restaurants don't which is Taiwanese cuisine. This place to me is more about availability than authenticity. While they have an array of Taiwanese dishes to select from, most of the dishes lacks full flavor. The prices aren't extremely high but it's not cheap. While the dining itself is quite small and seating is limited, the staff is nice and friendly. I'd say they are pretty content with the business they have. You know what they say, "sometimes it's better to have less than more" read more

Really slow delivery service! Took over 1.5 hours for delivery. When I called for an update, the restaurant staff was rude and refused to tell when the delivery man left. One dish arrived cold. Another was too salty. This used to be a better place, the quality has gone down. I will switch to a more reliable and better tasting Chinese restaurant for delivery. read more

Yen's Cafe is a unique establishment, unmatched by any Chinese food eatery in the area. This is a family-run establishment that treats you as such any time you walk into their door. This isn't your typical take out- this is Real, down home Taiwanese food, and I've eaten at plenty Chinese food restaurants around the globe. Rodney is always there to greet you with a smile and make you feel welcomed. There is a reason the place gets packed on a weekend night- the food is authentic and delicious! Thank you, Yen's Cafe, for an always incredible experience! read more

No explanation needed. Yen's is the best, and I wish they'd open another location in Leesburg. High quality, always tasty, always on time.

Best Taiwanese/Chinese food in Ashburn. If you're into tea they have a huge selection of fancy teas served in glass tea pots as well.

Yens is a good basic Chinese place. Lunch specials contain a large amount of food- not skimpy.

I really don't understand why people are fans, honestly. I ordered pork fried rice. My mother had spring rolls. She said hers were passable, but my pork fried race had barely any flavor. There were no salt shakers so I couldn't make it edible, either. The wonton soup wasn't bad though. read more

Got the chicken fried rice and I can say that its very very good... The folks here r cool and it looks like everyone here is loving their food. read more

Very good. I ordered the lunch kung pao and it was delicious. The lo mein seemed like it may have been sitting a while though. I had chicken on a stick which was also pretty good, even though I meant to order steak. My only complaint was the egg drop soup..It was a little thick for my liking, and had corn in it which I wasn't a fan of at all. read more

Very good Chinese food! The best in the DMV. Freshly prepared with quality ingredients and I absolutely love how the food isn't dripping in a puddle of oil like most Chinese restaurants. We ordered the 3 cups chicken, Kung pao chicken and shrimp, veggie fried rice and hot and sour soup. All were great. Ordered the Schezwan chicken too but didn't care for it. The fresh brewed tea was also delicious. Service is attentive and friendly but borderline pushy. Tiny place so make reservations during peak hours. We will definitely return! read more

HAO CHI! THEIR FOOD IS AMAZING! I have only had their food through DoorDash, so I have as yet to dine in, but I plan to. I love that it is fresh, authentic and that the menu is not full of just the run-of-the-mill staples of Chinese-American cuisine. My favorite so far has been the Three Cup Chicken. I have also enjoyed the Chicken with Rainbow Peppers. I feel better about myself after I eat their food and I'm not hungry ten minutes later! XD What I also appreciate is their lovely teas! It is hard to find tea houses outside of Chinatown. Their Organic Rose Tea is delicious, as is their Orange Eucalyptus Tea. I'd like to try their Power Tea (it sounds like a good tea for the 2 o'clock slump)! :) read more

I didn't dine at the restaurant but I did order the Taiwanese chicken nuggets to go. I would say it's the best Taiwanese chicken nuggets I've had in the area. Definitely on the same level as a lot of the spots in Houston and Southern Cali. read more

Honestly, I can't believe how great this place is. I waited until I went 2 times, just to make sure the first wasn't a fluke. The staff is extremely friendly. Our waitress last night showed us how to properly roll a mu shu pancake (which were home made!). Smoothies were great, food tasted amazing. I will be here again, many times. I just wish it were closer to my house, so I could go more often :) read more

OMG...ok I must say I gave up chinese food years ago because of all the "so-so" restaurants in the area. But I'm back in the chinese saddle now!! read more

The owners are from Taiwan and have some great Taiwanese dishes on the menu. Try the braised meatballs hot pot. Not your aveage Chinese menu, which is what I like about this place. Eat in or take out. Sit at the bar and have a drink or a great herbal tea and chat with the friendly owner/staff while you're waiting for take-out. read more

Went there based on all the positive yelp reviews. The fish in spicy soy sauce was too salty. The crispy sesame beef was too sweet and oily. We both ended up not bring able to finish our meals. Boxed them up and they tasted worse when we got home. Not sure if we just ordered the wrong items. This also makes me wonder about the authenticity of yelp reviews. read more

WOW! This is some of the best food I have ever had! My boyfriend and I ate here for a late lunch about a month ago, and we still talk about how great a meal it was! When you walk in you are immediately greeted by the entire staff, they make you feel right at home. They only have seven tables and a bar, but they have eight employees working in the dining room to accommodate you. We started with the mint tea, it is served in an ornate tea set with dried honey on the side. Not knowing what to expect from the dry honey, I was surprised to find how great the honey complimented the tea. We ordered crab rangoon to start. The rangoon was perfectly cooked- crispy, and the filling tasted fresh, unlike most Chinese restaurants where the inside tastes like imitation crab. The two dipping sauces that were served with the rangoon were delicious as well, one was sweet and the other spicy. We then ordered the chicken lo mein and the sesame crispy beef. I will do my best but words can't describe how good these dishes were! The lo mein noodles tasted fresh-like they were made in house. The chicken was perfectly flavored and no weird pieces. It wasn't greasy at all, like some lo mein I have had in the past can tend to be. Before eating lo mein at Yen's I thought lo mein was lo mein, but in fact I was wrong about this, the lo mein at Yen's is so superior to any lo mein I have had in the past. The crispy beef is like heaven in your mouth. It is so crispy and yet tender at the same time. How do they do it?! The beef was perfectly sauced with a sweet, orange glaze that was flavorful, but not overpowering. And at the end of the meal you receive a free dessert! Wonderful hot buns with a custard filling. Sooo good- and free! I can't end this post without commenting again about the superior service. When you go to Yen's they treat you like family. It is a testament that I drove fifty minutes each way and would give ten stars if possible. I probably drove past fifty Chinese restaurants on the way here, but would chose Yen's in a heartbeat. No amount of miles can get between me and the good people (and food) at Yen's Café! read more

Fantastic food. Great service. And yes that teapot sign intimidating. I got P20. Would recommend it. She even offered to adjust the spice level for me. read more

Their lemon grass fish filet is amazing. Def a must have with rest of the spectacular dishes they offer.

I just got some take out from here. I got the vegetable Singapore curry rice noodles and the eggplant in Yu Xiang sauce. I ordered both very spicy. The noodles were very bland; there was almost no flavor. Not spicy at all. The eggplant, however, was amazing. I'm a spice fiend, so it didn't seem spicy at all to me, but my dad thought it was incredibly spicy. I fixed the bland noodle problem by pouring the leftover Yu Xiang sauce over them, and that was very good. Lots of vegetarian options on the menu, so I'll definitely try this place again. Hopefully I can eat in and ask the server for recommendations on what the most authentic dishes are. read more

Decided to meet my husband here for lunch today. Been wanted to try it based off the reviews here in Yelp. We were greeted right when we walked in and seated right away. This place is smaller than I've expected but still very busy. Once a table got up - it would get cleaned and be sat by next customers right away. Their lunch combos are such a good deal and they have so many items on their menu to choose from. Today I decided to get the bourbon chicken lunch combo which comes with a choice of fried or white rice/salad/choice of wonton soup, egg drop soup, or hot & sour soup/egg roll. Everything on their menu is very reasonable pricing and it was good! My husband got the shrimp lo mein lunch combo which comes with a choice of soup. They don't use real Lo mein noodles but I guess that's their way of doing it. I will definitely be back to try more items. All the staff is very attentive. read more

Yen's Cafe - Taiwanese Near Me - Ashburn, Virginia

They have some great Taiwanese dishes on the menu. This place is a find in the middle of the vast residential community in Ashburn. It's a small and quiet place tucked behind the Giant shopping center but once you try their tasty and authentic Chinese cuisine, you'll be craving for their dishes. The owner and staff are very friendly and originally from Taiwan I guess. We enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. The meal was great! Nice service too and neat and cozy place. read more

Decided to order delivery on a Thursday afternoon. My friend was over with her kids and was also starving. We ordered using their online option (which is an automatic 10% off your bill). We had the orange chicken lunch combo that comes with rice, soup, fried spring roll and a salad all in a plastic bento box. We also ordered the combination lo mein and chicken with mixed veggies. All quick, delicious and the orange chicken is more meat than breading which is a win! read more

Menu contains American Chinese food and Taiwanese Chinese food. The style can be light and less salty compared with other Chinese restaurants, good for health. The space is tight, only has 10 or so tables, some of them are fairly small. If you order Taiwanese dishes, it can be a little pricy. Average $30/person or more. read more

Let me start off by saying that the service is quite good! Welcoming, attentive, helpful, quick. That is saying a lot given my numerous experiences in No.VA at Chinese food joints. Let's just say, the quicker you get outa those places, the better. At Yen's that wasn't the case. It's a cute little place that fills fast during lunchtime on a Saturday. But while people rave about the food here, I can't say it was good enough and a good enough value to bring me back. In fact for $40 elsewhere, I have gotten twice as much food with comparable taste and quality...some even better. And, the dishes I ordered were not complex or uncommon. The biggest detractor for me was that all of the food was quite greasy. For this price point, I expect practically greaseless and fresh-tasting. Appetizer, two entrees, and tea. The taste was decent but nothing to write home about, especially when home generates some of the best Chinese food outside of China. Knowing good Chinese food is in my blood, and the bar is set perpetually high. I may give Yen's another shot to see if there's some hidden deliciousness that I missed and that can justify paying so much for Chinese food. Not in a hurry though, so my quest to find good Chinese food that I'm willing to share with peeps from home definitely continues. Sorry, Yen's Cafe, I was looking forward to being floored with fabulousness but must say that the food fell kinda flat. read more

It's about time I wrote something up about Yen's. Woe is us that they are out of delivery range, as this is one of the best chinese restaurants in NoVA on this side of DC. In a sea of mediocrity and sameness, Yen's subtle spin on the norm is what it takes to stand out - not an easy feat with such familiar and common cuisine. Their friendly and chatty waitstaff; the extensive secret selection of authentic dishes; the Taiwanese bent of the menu; the juice bar; the tea sets; the moderation of saucing and oiling; the extra effort in presentation; the straight-out-of-the-oven complimentary pastry desserts; the exclusivity of the small venue in the face of its popularity (make reservations!); and the affordability considering the area! If you're getting your chinese somewhere else, consider raising your standards. read more

Just ran into this place off the side n yelp 4 1/2....it was small BUT the food was off the off the hook with HUGE taste :) - Great costumer service, the lady n her friends were so sweet they invited us to their home 4 Xmas!! HANDS DOWN Yummy 4 my tummy!! read more

The food, service and price was all great. The waiter was very helpful regarding vegan food options and suggested the eggplant basil, which we found quite tasty. We also ordered a beef soup and spring rolls. At the end, the waiter brought us complimentary dessert balls filled with red bean paste and custard. All in all, the food we ate was rich; the next time I come I will focus on ordering menu items with more greens and vegetables in to balance out the oil and starches. The bathroom toilet paper was very luxurious to touch, as was the sink and counter. I liked the paper cut outs on the wall, and the pastel pink and blue paper placemats that matched the cherry blossom menu covers. read more

The food here is great! We started with soup, sweet & sour - better than most I've had & won ton - also excellent. Then we had sizzling beef and crispy noodles with chicken - both were wonderful both in their flavor and presentation. I really can't say enough good things about my experience at this restaurant! I went for a late lunch with my son and his family including a baby, not only were the staff accommodating but they kept my granddaughter entertained. I can't wait to go back read more
