The food here is typical of breakfast you might have at any diner across the US. Large portions, average food, pretty good service. This time I had eggs and hashbrowns with scrambled eggs. It tasted fine, came out hot, and was more than I could eat myself. The hashbrowns were not as crisp as I usually like. Basically, the food will always be 2 out of these 3 things: fast, hot, cooked right Overall, if you're just looking for a decent breakfast at a reasonable price with your grandfolks, this is the place to go. Two stars for the "European style " French (with marmalade) pancakes and three stars for the regular pancakes. The European style pancakes usually are called crepes, but the large serving of unevenly cooked, cooking oil flavored, very thin pancakes soaked in a watery imitation of orange marmalade were not crepes; is this why they were called "European style? Ye Olde Pancake House is just that--a pancake house. I wasn't expecting gourmet food, nor is it. But, their food is good quality, the place is clean, and the price is right. I usually get their # 3, which is two eggs, two bacon, two pancakes. Eggs were scrambled, tasted good. Bacon was relatively thick, seemed good quality. Pancakes were large, and tasty...perhaps could be a little more fluffy/tender...but were still good. The best part is their house coffee. I'm not a coffee snob, but I don't drink folgers and the like. Their house coffee is really good. If you're looking for a simple, tasty, filling, no-frills breakfast, I suggest you give them a try. I suppose for what they are, I should give them 5 stars. But Yelp's system for 5 stars is "as good as it gets". read more

We got here at 1:30pm on a Friday and were seated right away. I ordered the bacon and cheese omelette, my mom had the Belgium waffle, wife had the green chili omelette. If I could give 0 stars I would. We went in and got seated. I was trying to get my kids seated and this lady with a bitchy tone asked for our drink order. I'm still trying to get situated so I completely blanked on what to order. She got real impatient real quick and weren't even that busy. My kid dropped something on the floor, so I quickly tried to get it off the floor because I didn't want anyone to slip. The same grumpy ass lady came out of the waitress station, leaned against the work station and said, "if you get up from your chair you have to wear a mask or you need to leave." I walked a step and a half, I could touch my table if I reached over. Plus there was waitresses walking and reaction was, "omg, I don't want anyone to slip and hurt themselves. Then, behind us was an elderly couple, very nice. The wife was walking towards the door to leave and a male waiter shouts, " wear a mask or vacate!" ITS AN ELDERLY COUPLE!!!! HAVE SOME RESPECT!!!!!! Some of the staff needs to be retrained or fired. I was a server myself for 4 years at a much busier restaurant and never treated people like that. NEVER EVER GOING BACK!! My husband and I moved to this area about 2 years ago and we have been wanting to go to this place one Sunday morning to try it out, but it's always extremely busy with a long wait time. This morning we decided we would just get takeout. He got the biscuits and gravy and I got boysenberry pancakes. Our order was about $14. To keep things simple, my pancakes were mediocre and his biscuits and gravy were terrible. We both tried them and agreed We prefer Dari mart biscuits and gravy. They did not put syrup or butter in my bag and I didn't have syrup at home so I had dry pancakes. Our service was ok. When I called they didn't know much about the menu (I understand it could have been a new person). If they would have known more about the menu options I would have spent more when ordering. We will not be back to eat in house or take out. Such a disappointment. read more

Not going back. Ever. I was so hopeful, especially since they 'specialize' in breakfast. We went on a Sunday afternoon, and even with an empty-ish house they sat us right next to the door (it's 15 degrees out!) so I couldn't even take my coat off for our meal. My boyfriend ordered a strawberry lemonade and the host comes back with a cup of strawberry syrup with a little ice and a little lemonade. My boyfriend likes things sweet, much sweeter than my bitter preferences, and it was so thick and syrupy he didn't even drink it. He ordered a sausage and ham omelet, and I the eggs benedict with a side of toast. His omelet was so smothered in cheese (normally a good thing) that it was sitting in a puddle of grease. The hollandaise was so salty I'm pretty sure it had three days worth of the recommended sodium allowance, and the 'butter' on my toast was definitely far from butter. Not sure what the giveaway was there - the bright pee yellow color, or the fact that I had to smother the toast with jam packets to make it semi edible. Their only saving grace was the fact that I was ravenous (happens during pregnancy) and their hashbrowns were perfect. I mean perfect, and the only reason it deserves the one star I have to give it. I would compare this place to a Dennys or Shari's. Basically if you like mass amounts of grease, hydrogenated oil on your 'buttered' toast, and hollandaise sauce from a can, go here. If you're actually looking for a quality meal with real ingredients I recommend driving straight by. We will never cheat on our favorite breakfast joint - the glenwood - again. I am generally pretty happy about the food choices in here. I have had pancakes, omelettes and eggs benedict, all tasted delicious in my opinion. We always had to wait for a bit before getting seated, but the customer service is always great. There was a time when I wanted to switch my toast/hash browns to apple pancakes, but I could only have the original with what I ordered. The server offered to let me have a side of apples to make them into apple pancakes anyway. It feels great when servers can accommodate your needs instead of just saying no. My fella loved his swedish pancakes, but if you're interested in having anything else reconsider. He couldn't eat the bacon it was so undercooked and he paid extra to add two eggs but because he asked for them scrabbled he received about half the order of dried out eggs. My eggs and hashbrowns were dripping with oil. The toast was burnt and the sausage had obviously been sitting under a lamp for a long time. I heard there was good hang over food here, but even then it's too greasy. On a positive note the place was packed but we didn't have to wait long. My husband and I hit up Ye Olde Pancake House on Friday morning. I was doing fine until I looked over and saw stacked containers of store-bought cinnamon rolls ready and on hand to be sold as if fresh from their kitchen. Then I started paying closer attention, and I really gotta say, we'll never eat there again. Bland, flavorless, low quality, clearly pre-packaged everything reconstituted and put together in their "kitchen" - none of what we were served was "from scratch" in any sense of the words. Really, the decor inside is clean and quaintly old-timey in a way that charms. The restaurant is clean and the servers were very nice. I have been a regular at Ye Olde Pancake house for a few years now. It is conveniently located near my work, so I manage to get a meal or two there every month. While there is nothing spectacular about the menu or the food, there are no real pitfalls either. I have ordered omelets with a variety of fillings not on the menu, like bacon, cheddar, and pepproncini, and they are always prepared well. They have surprisingly good soups for lunch, and the tuna club has become one of my favorites. The staff is quite friendly and efficient. The coffee is well below average, and the slightly high prices keep me from rating them 5 stars. Be prepared to wait for a table during the weekend breakfast rush. read more
