This was my second attempt to dine at Yard House. My first attempt was the Springfield Va location and it wasn't a good experience. We visited the DC location on a Monday night to watch football. Because there wasn't an event at Cap One, there was plenty of street parking and the place wasn't crowded. There are TVs all over so wherever you're sitting, you have a view. If you like beer this is the place saw for you. The options were plenty. The wine and cocktail options were good too. Our server was very attentive (wish I could remember her name). We ordered the Mediterranean salmon, Ahi Tuna salad, Kale & Romaine Caesar salad with blackened shrimp and the Shiitake Garlic noodles. Most of our food was good with the exception of the noodles...overcooked. Food and drinks were good and prices reasonable especially for DC. Service was ok and I might add we did have a large party @ 23 or more. Requested separate billing which they did but only by order number which we had to figure out for ourselves. Duh!!! We stopped in on a busy Friday evening so we knew it would be busy but we got seats at the bar. The server left us sitting for several minutes with trash in front of us. And we had to eventually ask for menus to get their attention. Then it was kind of a sad comedy as she could hear us and we couldn't hear her over the music but we got orders in. Then she went MIA for a good long while. We got the vampire tacos and a burger. It took a really long time for that and when it came the kid delivering tried to give us the wrong food. Then we got that straight and I got my tacos. Still no brlurger. Also, no salsa or hot sauce and I couldn't get any of the other bar staff to come over. Finally the burger showed and it was a tasty burger. Blueberry sauce? Weird but it really works. The tacos were awful. The fries were limp and gross. It felt like they got a really good chef to create the menu and then had a Taco Bell crew make the tacos based on that chefs instructions. Eventually the server did come back. And we tried to pay with the dumb tablet thingy but it tried to make us sign up for their emails to pay the check so we had to wait again for the server to get off her phone and cash us out. My First time at yard house, my boyfriend and I sat at the bar where we were served by a young lady bartender, she asked what we wanted to drink and make them. Once we received our drinks she never once asked us did we want to place order for any food, waited more then 10 to 15mins , literally we had to ask another bartender to place the food order, which he was very nice about it. Our food came out fast and everything was good other than the service we received at the bar, not really attentive and favored one side of the bar. We took some young adults here for a celebration and it was perfect for us adults as well as the teenagers! I had the lettuce wraps which were delicious! Long overdue review. All of my experiences at Yard House have caused me to love it far more than I'd expect for what is essentially a high-end sports bar. Overall this was a very strange experience. I came for happy hour, which was advertised on their website as weekdays from 3-6pm. I arrived shortly after 3pm, but was told that there'd be no happy hour since there was an event at Capital One Arena later that night (which is strange because there are events there more nights than not... so I guess HH rarely happens as advertised). The service was... indifferent at best, and borderline depressing at worst. No one seemed happy to be there, and it took more than 5 minutes after sitting down at the bar and trying to get any staff member's attention for anyone to even acknowledge me. The service remained inattentive and disorganized throughout the meal. A couple folks that I talked to were pretty nice, but seemed scattered in their duties and responsibilities. My drink was cleared before being finished, for example, and my credit card had to be taken on two separate occasions, and neither time was it "handed right back to me" as was promised. There was also an issue with mosquitoes inside the space, and that made for an uncomfortable dining experience. Luckily, the Korean cheesesteak was delicious, as were the beers, which helped to salvage some of the experience. Yard House is usually my go to for happy hour spots. However, at the DC location if there is a big event around the area, they will not have their happy hour menu and just their regular menu. Before coming into Yard House, we checked in on their waitlist early to avoid waiting as long as there was an estimated 45-55 minute wait. Since we checked in on their waitlist early, our wait once at the restaurant was around 5 minutes and we were sat outside. Sitting outside on such a nice day was very enjoyable compared to the crowded inside. I would say the service at the DC location was kind of meh compared to my other experiences at other locations. We waited a bit for requests like more water and ketchup to go with our meal. For my meal specifically, the Nashville hot chicken sandwich was lacking in spice and sauciness. It was a tasty sandwich but definitely wasn't giving Nashville hot chicken sandwich. However, the fried calamari came out hot and was as delicious as my other experiences getting this dish. Yard House is definitely still one of my favorite chain spots to go to but I think the business in this location played a part in a bit of a lackluster experience. read more

I went to YardHouse 1 block from the Caps arena to watch Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It's Literally 1 block from the arena. They refused to play the game audio. #1 team in the Eastern Conference riding the high of Ovi getting the career goal total. 1 block away. And we talking city blocks. I could hit the arena with a 5-iron. Also, their craft beer is watered down and this place has zero character. Guy next to me got a steak looked like it got run over by a FesEx truck. Your food sucks, your beer sucks, the ONE thing you had going was your proximity to Capital One Arena, and you would rather play the Goo Goo Dolls than the audio of the sport responsible for your foot traffic in this area. Giving yard house 3 stars because they couldn't play our hockey game on any of the tv's. Apparently they didn't have access to it. It's major league hockey and this is a sports bar. The hot honey and horseradish aioli added a nice extra kick. My husband ordered his burger medium and it was cooked very well. My poke salad had a nice amount of ahi tuna, avocado, edamame, roe, and seaweed salad. All our food was well-seasoned and not overly salty. - Menu variety. Something for everyone- veggies, meats, seafood, drinks, etc.... - Layout. Given that it's DC, the space is pretty good. They have a nice open bar with many tvs there, as well. They have many booths that are deep, which can seat 6-8 people, which is helpful. - Price. Moderately priced and pretty good value for money. My poke salad was approximately $21. The most expensive item on our tab was a mixed drink, which was around $13, which surprised us as to how much one mixed drink ended up being. - Service. Pretty good, especially when it's busy. This place was pretty packed and service was still pretty reliable and attentive. What's not - Noise level. We were here on a Sunday afternoon and it was incredibly loud inside, to the point it was difficult to hear each other, even though we were sitting right next to each other. I point this out for others to be mindful of this when there may be a special sports event going on or whatever else. The noise carries very easily in this place. - Price. To be fair, most of their menu items are reasonably priced. However, one of our mixed drinks was $13 just for the drink. Something to be mindful of, because your tab can run up quickly depending on exactly what you're ordering. Normally I don't have high expectations chain restaurants. But this location was quite good. For a DC restaurant it is quite large with two levels. While we waited for the rest of our group to arrive we got drinks at the bar. The bartender was cordial and gave us our drinks promptly. I got a mojito and it was mixed well. When the rest of our group came we were seated at a large table. There were some hiccups with everyone getting all of their food. But at least all the appetizers came out promptly so no one was left without food. I personally had no issues with my food. It came out in a timely manner and came hot. I got a carne asada taco and a shrimp taco. These were some of the best tacos I've had in a restaurant. They were not skimpy on the stuffing either. Rice was well seasoned. They were good enough that I ordered another. We shared a plate of chips and salsa, which was ok. The salsa was good. But the chips were just regular tortilla chips that tasted like what you can buy from a grocery store. As with most DC restaurants, there is no dedicated parking. I'm a regular here and their happy hours are ADDICTIVE! I've also visited them after hours when coming home from the club and it's always good. Did I mention that their happy hour starts at 3pm?! Get there! Ambiance: this spot is live and a great place to catch a game, mingle at the bar and simply chill. Singles...it's also a good place to find a friend lol don't say I never told you so. Drinks: their happy hour prices are 1/2 off so I normally get wine or a cocktail and I've never had any complaints and always leave satisfied. Food: my go to items are traditional wings, chicken tenders and sliders with bbq sauce on the side (SO TASTY!) I normally get either of these because hey, I'm mostly there for the drinks but these menu items are given in large portions and they're so good! Warning: wings are NOT served on the happy hour menu. Overall, I truly appreciate this bar. I didn't mention service because honestly service can be a hit or miss. I've sadly had a few misses because my servers have either left me waiting for the bill for a longggggg time, overcharged me, or messed up my order. Of course after speaking with them about it they accommodated for the inconvenience but I wouldn't say that service is anything to rave about-the food and drinks are. Happy hour prices: you'll probably spend around $10-25 depending on what you purchase and that of course speaks to the total for drinks and the selection of food on the menu.
