However, I normally eat appetizers from Yard House because I usually visit another location, and it's normally during HH. The firecracker shrimp was good over this had to be a fried rice cake, which was not half bad. As for this sweet and spicy shrimp noodles dish, I ended up sending it back because the noodles were overcooked. I love the Yard House chain and make it a habit to stop in when I find a new one in a new town. This location was pretty busy due to the heavy rain and a local Capitals game going on but they got me seated at the bar quick enough. Had the Fontina Vodka Penne and it was delicious as always. This is a fun sports bar to go to on a Friday night. There's plenty of seating and classic bar, food and drinks. I came here with a large party. We were promptly seated after having made a reservation. There's a large selection of cocktails, beers, wines, so there's something for everybody. Expect service to be on the slower side while they're busier: sometimes it took up to 20 minutes for us to get beer on tap. The food was delicious, albeit also requiring good amount of wait. Once you get to the table you can order your apps on a device they have but if you want drinks and a main course you have to wait for your server. We had Kevin and he was great. When we were seated the only games on were college football (Saturday) and I wanted to watch the Warriors/Suns game. I asked and he complied fairly quickly so I appreciate that. There's lots of seating inside and at the bar so I would be shocked if this place would have a long wait but it's always winter so that may play a part. The food came out very fast and for late night (10pm) that was appreciated. We ordered: Lemon drop with Tequila - 10/10 - lemon drop girlies stand up!!! Calamari - 7/10 - a bit chewy for my taste and the breading fell apart immediately so the crunch I was looking for wasn't there. It was served with a jalapeño tartar which was different but I enjoyed it a lot. Bbq Burger (subbed cheddar for BC crumbles) - 8/10 - I ordered it medium and it was perfectly cooked. I wish it was seasoned more and the bacon was crispier but outside of that it was a solid burger. It came with fries and they were just ok. Wings - 10/10 - Half Buffalo & Half Korean Chili Garlic. I didn't have these but my friend said they were good. The Buffalo was SPICY, so be aware of that. read more

We usually play pickleball until 11 pm on Tuesdays. Some of us were hungry after the game so we started looking for restaurants that were open that late in the night in the downtown area. Fortunately, this was open. We called ahead to confirm if they really were cause google is not up to date sometimes. I ordered pale ale and spicy jambalaya. Their kitchen closes at 12 midnight. One of the best jambalayas I have had in the DMV area. It has chicken, nicely spiced sausage, shrimp and bits of crawfish. I absolutely enjoyed my late night delicious dinner. This was my second attempt to dine at Yard House. My first attempt was the Springfield Va location and it wasn't a good experience. We visited the DC location on a Monday night to watch football. Because there wasn't an event at Cap One, there was plenty of street parking and the place wasn't crowded. There are TVs all over so wherever you're sitting, you have a view. If you like beer this is the place saw for you. The options were plenty. The wine and cocktail options were good too. Our server was very attentive (wish I could remember her name). We ordered the Mediterranean salmon, Ahi Tuna salad, Kale & Romaine Caesar salad with blackened shrimp and the Shiitake Garlic noodles. Most of our food was good with the exception of the noodles...overcooked. After reading other reviews, I think if you're a local the key to success here would be to visit when there are no events at Cap One. read more

We stopped in on a busy Friday evening so we knew it would be busy but we got seats at the bar. The server left us sitting for several minutes with trash in front of us. And we had to eventually ask for menus to get their attention. Then it was kind of a sad comedy as she could hear us and we couldn't hear her over the music but we got orders in. Then she went MIA for a good long while. We got the vampire tacos and a burger. It took a really long time for that and when it came the kid delivering tried to give us the wrong food. Then we got that straight and I got my tacos. Still no brlurger. Also, no salsa or hot sauce and I couldn't get any of the other bar staff to come over. Finally the burger showed and it was a tasty burger. Blueberry sauce? Weird but it really works. The tacos were awful. The fries were limp and gross. It felt like they got a really good chef to create the menu and then had a Taco Bell crew make the tacos based on that chefs instructions. Eventually the server did come back. And we tried to pay with the dumb tablet thingy but it tried to make us sign up for their emails to pay the check so we had to wait again for the server to get off her phone and cash us out. You know I started writing this with three stars but reading back over it I think 2 is more accurate. Edit: it's now the following day. I got fries from a convention hall vendor serving a glorified school lunch for $25 and those fries were better that Yard House. read more

My First time at yard house, my boyfriend and I sat at the bar where we were served by a young lady bartender, she asked what we wanted to drink and make them. Once we received our drinks she never once asked us did we want to place order for any food, waited more then 10 to 15mins , literally we had to ask another bartender to place the food order, which he was very nice about it. Our food came out fast and everything was good other than the service we received at the bar, not really attentive and favored one side of the bar. I could hit the arena with a 5-iron. Also, their craft beer is watered down and this place has zero character. Guy next to me got a steak looked like it got run over by a FesEx truck. Your food sucks, your beer sucks, the ONE thing you had going was your proximity to Capital One Arena, and you would rather play the Goo Goo Dolls than the audio of the sport responsible for your foot traffic in this area. Overall this was a very strange experience. I came for happy hour, which was advertised on their website as weekdays from 3-6pm. I arrived shortly after 3pm, but was told that there'd be no happy hour since there was an event at Capital One Arena later that night (which is strange because there are events there more nights than not... so I guess HH rarely happens as advertised). The service was... indifferent at best, and borderline depressing at worst. No one seemed happy to be there, and it took more than 5 minutes after sitting down at the bar and trying to get any staff member's attention for anyone to even acknowledge me. The service remained inattentive and disorganized throughout the meal. A couple folks that I talked to were pretty nice, but seemed scattered in their duties and responsibilities. My drink was cleared before being finished, for example, and my credit card had to be taken on two separate occasions, and neither time was it "handed right back to me" as was promised. There was also an issue with mosquitoes inside the space, and that made for an uncomfortable dining experience. Luckily, the Korean cheesesteak was delicious, as were the beers, which helped to salvage some of the experience. Still, I doubt I'd come back if this is the norm in the overall scheme of things. read more

Long overdue review. All of my experiences at Yard House have caused me to love it far more than I'd expect for what is essentially a high-end sports bar. Probably more 4.5 stars than 5, but giving it the 5 because for a restaurant of this category, I feel like they do everything right: -Fantastic beer selection -Great food, and very vegetarian-friendly, with Gardein and Beyond substitution options galore in addition to your more straightforward vegetarian fare -Wonderful, very attentive service, whether you're sitting at the bar or at a table -SUCH a fun vibe, whether you're there to watch a sports event on one of the many televisions, or to hang out with friends, grab a meal with family, share a drink with your special someone, or just fly solo. I really love how welcoming the atmosphere is -Great value in pricing I've only had a few meals here, but the Cali Roll Stack was DELICIOUS. The Grilled Cheese is also great, the tomato bisque a bit less memorable. My best friend loved the Korean BBQ cheesesteak he ordered when we recently dined here, and my partner enjoyed the Beyond Burger. Yard House is usually my go to for happy hour spots. However, at the DC location if there is a big event around the area, they will not have their happy hour menu and just their regular menu. Before coming into Yard House, we checked in on their waitlist early to avoid waiting as long as there was an estimated 45-55 minute wait. Since we checked in on their waitlist early, our wait once at the restaurant was around 5 minutes and we were sat outside. Sitting outside on such a nice day was very enjoyable compared to the crowded inside. I would say the service at the DC location was kind of meh compared to my other experiences at other locations. We waited a bit for requests like more water and ketchup to go with our meal. For my meal specifically, the Nashville hot chicken sandwich was lacking in spice and sauciness. It was a tasty sandwich but definitely wasn't giving Nashville hot chicken sandwich. However, the fried calamari came out hot and was as delicious as my other experiences getting this dish. Yard House is definitely still one of my favorite chain spots to go to but I think the business in this location played a part in a bit of a lackluster experience. read more
