My husband was SO looking forward to this Yard House opening...all I've heard for the last month is "Yard House Yard House Yard House!" We have been to others in California and they were FANTASTIC....unfortunately, this one...sighs...just wasn't. Let's start with the food because most of you reading this will be interested in the food. We had the crab artichoke dip appetizer as well as the blue crab cakes. Each was meh. Very small portions for the price. The dip was something like $12.95 and here is your Ms. Jones tip of the day: DO NOT ORDER THE BLUE CRAB CAKES!!!! Get this for TWO 2 inch diameter crab cakes they charged over $12.00!!!! Really???? On what planet is one crab cake worth SIX DOLLARS???? On top of that, you'd expect that if they're going to give you such a skimpy serving for such an outrageous price that it would be out of sight delicious--it was not. Two crappy, over cooked crab cakes on top of some sloppily served (but giving credit where credit is due, tasty, sauce). Moving onto entrees, my husband had the beef dip sandwich and I had the tomato and olive flatbread. Kind of hard to mess those two up in my honest opinion...they were okay. A 2.5 star out of five type of thing. Now let's move onto the ambiance. As a previous review had said about sitting next to her boyfriend and having to YELL at him to be heard, yep...it was EXACTLY the same for us. And it wasn't a fun type of loud there--it was annoying. The music was way too loud, tables TOO CLOSE TOGETHER...just a very uncomfortable, not fun atmosphere of being crammed into a very tight, very loud, sardine can. You know how Olive Garden gets on a Saturday night (and no, I don't like Olive Garden either), THAT'S what you get here. Almost the same type of experience and same type of level of food. Again, it was very disappointing considering we went to Yard House a number of times and a to a number of locations in California and they were outrageously tasty and we very much enjoyed each and every experience. Makes me think that perhaps it's the management here? After all, Yard House is a chain restaurant so why else would this location be so dismally disappointing in comparison to the others we've been to? Now for the parking. Mind you, we went early (before 5 pm) and it was extremely hard to find a parking spot. Granted they have valet, but after you've dumped a wallet full of money on mediocre food and a not great atmosphere, do you really feel like tipping the valet guy and waiting for your car? Not Ms. Jones. Nope, no thank you. We MAY give it another try, but with SO MANY OTHER RESTAURANTS near by, it will be tough to justify why we'd go back. In closing, if you want a loud restaurant where you have to yell at your dining companions to be heard, mediocre food, problems with parking and be out at least $100.00 by the end of the night, than you may enjoy this place. Me? I'll be at India West (less than a half block away), having a lovely experience, delicious food in an upscale environment, with a private booth in the corner having sexy conversations with my husband, while playing footsy under the table for half the price. read more
