This place went from best to worst really quick. I'm not sure if the staff/owners have changed but the personal touch we used to experience here has completely disappeared. Was recently served frozen sashimi, then told that it's because of the temperature so it has to be served frozen. Ridiculous. Also on arrival we were given happy hour menus which we ordered from. Then when the check came there were zero happy hour discounts. We were rudely told another lady who interrupted while we were talking to our server that "No you didn't order happy hour items you didn't even have happy hour menus" which is absolutely incorrect. We were then handled by our server who honored the menu prices we were given when we were handed the HH menus . We used to either eat here or get take out once a week totaling no less than $120 before tip. We won't be going back. This kind of service is not welcomed. Not sure if the ownership changed, if it didn't then they for sure forgot their customer service skills. read more

An alright sushi spot. Came in and sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chef was just blankly staring over in the distance which was a bit awkward. Shortly after we got the menu and the waitress was friendly. We ordered 2 green teas (they charge by the cup and don't give you a pot of tea). Spring rolls and one Basic Shrimp Tempura roll as well as the sunset speciality roll. The spring rolls were served quickly and were crispy. They tasted decent but didn't have a lot of filling to them. They reminded me of something I've had from Costco in the frozen aisle honestly. Onto the sushi , the shrimp tempura roll wasn't impressive. It's a bigger size sushi roll but it didn't taste or feel very filled and it didn't really have much of the shrimp tempura so it was more like a bigger basic California roll. Next the sunset roll was actually quite tasty and both myself and my partner enjoyed this one. The sunset roll was definitely the highlight of our meal. Overall the food seemed kind of basic for the price. Based on the experience I'd mainly recommend trying their specialty rolls as those seem the most unique and worth getting. Although I wouldn't be opposed to returning here I don't think I'd be rushing back. read more

Did not disappoint!! The vegans got the monsoon shrimp roll and avocado cucumber roll and vegan wings. I forgot to take a picture of the vegan wings but they were delicious! I would recommend the vegan monsoon shrimp roll 100000%!! The non vegans got a rainbow, spider roll and California rolls. Ambiance: I am assuming we went during slow hours, around 1:30 pm or so. There was only us and another family. Ambient lighting and dark walls which was nice. Music was great as well. Went back and was so surprised that the portions were small and they blew it with my dragon roll. They forgot the shrimp but I ate it and then told them. I don't send anything back cause I think it's more rude than a poor yelp review. The server went to the chef and he stated it was rolled right and it was there. If so- where was the tail on my plate? Came here for lunch again, and this will be the last time. I was *REALLY* hoping that they'd improve their chirashi, but no change has been been made. It's a box stuffed to the top with rice and topped with two anemic slices of salmon, whitefish, tuna, shrimp, yellowtail, and krab. There's a dollop of shredded daikon, and a few slices of pickled cucumbers. And that's it. Their sashimi is fine. It's pretty standard, but nothing jumped out and grabbed my by the ears like it would before sometimes. The real kicker was their uni. If you look at my previous reviews I was raving about their uni, but now it's pretty much just your standard dollop of sea urchin gonads. And for some bizarre reason they sprinkled salt on it. This place is fine. You won't have a bad meal here, and that's probably fine for most folks. However, if you're looking for something exceptional, you're probably going to be disappointed, and that's really too bad. Ah well, c'est la vie I suppose. read more

We ended up trying Yanagi Sushi last night after seeing their Yelp rating and we were not disappointed! For checking in we got a ton of amazing edamame, and it didn't take long for us both to realize that the Maki Combo is the way to go. Three rolls for $15~ is an amazing value, and we both definitely got our money's worth. The Pork Gyoza is a must-have in my opinion. The Salmon Roll, Philly Roll, and the Crunchy Roll were all amazing, but my girlfriend and I both thought that the Spicy Yellowtail Roll that I got was a little on the fishy side, so I can't recommend that one in particular. They also have some Soju cocktails on the list that sound amazing, and I definitely plan to come back and try some of those on a night where I'm not expected to be working the next morning. I have never had a bad experience here. The staff are always super friendly and the food is always amazing. They have happy hour everyday and they have happy hour all day long on Thursdays which is generally when we go. I'm a vegetarian and they offer a lot of amazing vegetarian options!!
