Tried Orient Sushi Grill and this place is amazing. We love the all you can eat menu. Tons of options, everything we had was really solid, and it's one of those spots where you just keep ordering because it's all good. Small lesson learned the hard way though. Some items come with multiple pieces even if it just says "1" on the menu. So when we ordered 4 spring rolls, that turned into 12 actual rolls showing up at the table. And because they charge you for food waste, I suddenly found myself in a high stakes personal challenge where I had to eat 8 of them like it was my job. No regrets, just slightly overcommitted. Orient Sushi & Grill is SOLID!! I've come in at least 3 times now and they are pretty consistent. The service is great, and the food can't be beat! I love the AYCE options. You can choose AYEC Sushi or Sashimi for a great price. The AYCE options include whatever is in the regular menu too, I believe. I have sat at the bar twice and they are quick to get your food orders out. It can get loud during busy times but it doesn't bother me. On my last visit here, I met a random guy who also sat at the bar during his business trip. Turns out he is also a sashimi lover like me! I have yet to try the other me up times other than Sushi. The Chinese food looks amazing and the portions are generous. I'm glad I have this option super close to me. It's become a regular spot in my rotation. Loved the open kitchen and seeing the sushi chef's preform their magic, prepare rolls, nigiri and sashimi. They offer AYCE sushi for $29.95 or sashimi for $43.95. We opted for sushi. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. He answered questions we had on a few of their rolls. We ordered albacore, eel, octopus, salmon, smoked salmon, tuna, yellow tail nigiri, a Norway roll, Caterpillar roll and a Salmon Avocado roll to start. The smoked salmon nigiri was the standout! Fabulous flavors, unique, first time I've tried it and will now will be looking for it! The octopus nigiri was chewy and lacked seasoning, the only mid-step of our meal. The eel nigiri and Caterpillar roll was delicious, loved the meaty texture combined with avocado and eel sauce. A great cooked sushi option. We followed up with a tuna, salmon, spicy tuna, spicy salmon and spider roll. All the salmon, tuna, yellow tail nigiri and rolls were fantastic, fresh and tasty! The menu wasn't as robust so it took a while for me to choose an item since nothing stood out. We ordered the calamari app and they gave a huge plate of it without any lemons. All you can eat sushi here. When in doubt just go for it! I've frequented here multiple times and the best option is the AYCE. If one person wants the AYCE then the rest of the table must follow suit. I love the avocado salad, seaweed salad, tuna tataki, yellowtail nigiri, salmon nigiri, eel nigiri and many others. The food was pretty good... and came out quick. We did the all-you-can-eat. There were some things on the menu (sushi-wise) you'd expect to be available on AYCE but they were not. Also, when we ordered it felt a little shaming. The waiter told us we were ordering too much and that if we didn't eat it all they'd charge us extra. Spoiler alert - it wasn't too much, it was just right for us. It was also expensive... ended up being $150 with tip. There are definitely better choices around the east valley for AYCE sushi. The food might be good, however the service here is disgusting. The fish does not taste fresh at all while it did take thirty minutes to come out. They messed up my order twice and when I asked them if they can make a few changes, my server and the host seemed irritated. Now, I'm quite new to eating sushi because I never grew up eating it. So I asked the lady manager a question I had about one of the rolls and what comes in it. And she just straight up laughed in my face in front of the whole restaurant completely humiliating me. The real issue was the service. She didn't just ask once, she came back repeatedly, almost like I was being interrogated for daring to enjoy the meal. It made the entire dining experience awkward and uncomfortable. If a restaurant offers AYCE, customers should be able to eat without being pressured or made to feel guilty for ordering. This place has been more than a restaurant to me--it's where I've celebrated anniversaries, birthdays, and countless special moments. My partner and I have been here so often that our picture is literally on the wall. I've always raved about the quality of the food and the consistent experience--until now. Last Saturday, I came in with my 9-year-old daughter for a mommy-daughter sushi date. We were kindly greeted by the host and seated near the front of the restaurant. I decided to go with the all-you-can-eat sushi while my daughter ordered ramen. Our server--an older Asian woman whom I believe is the wife of the owner and someone I've seen many times over the years--approached our table and handed me the all-you-can-eat menu and a pencil. When I asked for a few minutes to make my selection, she immediately seemed irritated. She walked past our table multiple times, glaring at me as I tried to decide, and then suddenly snatched the paper from my hand. She rudely warned me that if I didn't finish what I ordered, I would be charged extra. I calmly let her know I understood (at that point, I had only selected about 5 rolls and an appetizer). She continued repeating herself in a harsh tone and informed me that I would only be served a few rolls at a time. I agreed. From there, the entire experience became something I honestly never imagined I'd endure at a place I once loved. As I ate, she stood no more than five feet away--watching me, glaring at me, and making my daughter and me feel extremely uncomfortable. It wasn't subtle or professional--it was targeted and downright hostile. After I finished the first round, she again reminded me not to waste food, clearly implying she didn't believe I would finish what I ordered. I told her to go ahead and bring the rest. I made sure to eat every single piece, just as I always do. Despite my attempts to remain kind and even "kill her with kindness," the mood didn't change. She whispered, pointed, stared, and hovered. This went on for the entire hour we were there. My daughter was visibly uncomfortable, and what was supposed to be a sweet little bonding moment turned into something stressful and upsetting. The final straw--the part that truly broke me--was when we paid and began to leave. This woman stood at the host's desk with her phone pointed directly at us, filming us as we left. My daughter noticed it first and asked, "Mommy, is she filming us?" I looked back, and sure enough, she had her phone out and was tracking us as we walked out the door. After 15 years of loyalty, I honestly cannot believe I was treated this way--especially by someone who knows exactly how long I've supported this business. I may be a small woman, but I have a big appetite. I came to enjoy the meal I paid for, not to be harassed, judged, and surveilled. I'm writing this review not out of spite, but out of sheer disappointment. I've loved this place for so long, and it breaks my heart that I can no longer recommend it or return with my family. I wanted to order in for date night so I ordered the Love Boat, house rice and drunken beef noodles. I spent $75. The boat was $45. Let's just put that out there. When hubby gets home he comes in with two small bags. I'm wondering where the rest of the food is for $75. To my surprise we got two small trays of sushi which was the "boat" a box of the fried rice and a small try of the noodles. I tried the rice. Immediate no. It smelled like a wet dog, and so did the beef. The rice itself had no flavor and it was pale as if it wasn't "fried" at all. The chicken was white, no flavor. The shrimp had a hint of flavor and carried the rice. The sushi was subpar. I definitely wasn't expecting slices of salmon and tuna as part of the Love Boat. The last thing to try was the noodles. It carried all of dishes and that was even mediocre. I wanted to like my food but it lacked so much flavor and had an odd smell which I call "wet dog". I tried this place because it was recommended and because of the 4 star review it received but I just can't get with it. Unfortunately, it's my first and last time trying.
