Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The rice was undercooked--you could still feel the hard grains when eating it. We also noticed that other customers were offered a variety of sauces and toppings, while we were not. When I informed the staff that the rice was not cooked properly, the only response was, "I'm sorry about that." No effort was made to replace it or resolve the issue. Been a few months since I've been in and decided to hit this place up for their flavorful bowl with potstickers. Today I should have known better as I heard the rice hit the bowl and make a sound like dry rice hitting the bottom of the bowl. Got home and that was exactly what I have. My husband and I tried Cupbop for the first time during a trip to Salt Lake City. It was so delicious we ate there twice in one trip!! We were beyond the valley of excitement when a branch opened up in our neighborhood. Trip #1- We stopped in after they had been open for a month. They were out of Kimchi and Mandoo (two of the big staples). I definitely chalked it up to growing pains of the early days, we waited a few months to come back. Trip #2- We ordered pick up online through the restaurant website. My husband arrived at the specified time, the full order was not ready. He (after a 12 hour work day) waited for 10 minutes for the food. Small mistakes with the food (no topping on the dog, requests for sauce on the side were ignored). Trip #3- We ordered online, again through their own website. My husband arrived and found out they had no idea about the order. He was then peppered with questions/accusations; he must have ordered at another location, he must have used an alternate food ordering site, etc. He showed them the email confirmation and a text I received stating, "Your order is ready for pick up!" No apologies, no offer for a free drink while he waited (again), the manager simply stated, 'Well...we are new." Such a bummer, we were so stoked, we won't be back to this location. read more

I have been hearing lots of hype for CupBop, so I decided to stop in for a quick and easy dinner. CupBop has a pretty unique concept, similar to that of a Chipotle or Subway. Choose your base menu item and customize it (sauce, spice level, noodles or rice, etc). Basically, it's a pricier Korean version of Panda Express. I ordered the Rock Bop (fried chicken bowl) with noodles, rice, and a spicy level of 4 sauce (1 being mildest, 10 being hottest). I thought my bowl was pretty good, but a bit pricey. The chicken and sauce were super flavorful but the portion of chicken was slim pickings and the rest of the bowl is basically sauceless noodles and really dry white rice. Next time I would ask for no white rice and more sauce. Overall, it's a cute concept but nothing worth trying more than once or twice. read more

1st couple visits here were decent, it has since gone downhill. Last night I was talking to some friends and told them we were headed here for dinner but that I was hesitant because it seems like they are always out of something, jinxed myself. They were out of cups, as in the cups they put your food in, as in the cups I assume is in the name Cupbop. As our server overfilled the containers with rice and noodles we asked about the cabbage, out of that as well. To her credit she did give me veggies instead. I could go on but will leave it here. In my opinion this is a management issue, order your products before they are gone, make your food before you run out. I rarely have food envy but was super disappointed with my sandwich after I tried his bowl from Cupbop. It was so delicious and flavorful. The space is modern, bright, and clean. The staff that helped us was great and Robert (who I believe is the owner) chatted with us and told us about the restaurant. You can tell he's genuinely passionate and cares about his restaurant and the quality of product he puts out. We ate there on Wednesday and will be grabbing it for us and family again tonight from the Mesa location. This will definitely be a go-to in our restaurant rotation! We stopped in yesterday for their grand opening, everybody was extremely nice and friendly. You know sometimes grand openings can be very hectic very busy very stressful but everyone of those staff members held it down with so much grace. Place is disorganized and stingy. First off, the floor was super sticky. We paid $27 for 2 cups, and this the amount of meat they gave me. The whole bowl was filled with rice and noodles and this is the amount of meat I received. I had asked them and they said that this was normal serving size. If you're going to charge restaurant price at least give restaurant portions. This is absolutely outrages. I've had this better but in Phx and they definitely did not disappoint. My boyfriend on the other hand, who eats significantly more than me, got a rock bop and we were not happy with the price and how much meat we got. My friend and I were very overwhelmed with the amount of sauce put in. Also, upon arrival, there was limited amount of meat selection due it still being thawed. Then the whole thing is smothered in sauces that you are supposed to shake and then eat. I think I could develop a taste for it, but I would have preferred no sauce at all.
