An absolute gem in South Park Slope!…read more We happened to be staying at a friend's place a few blocks away and was looking for something open on the later side with great food. We searched Yelp and came across Konoba Yakitori, and it absolutely hit the spot. My daughter and I loved our entire experience--everything from the food to the local neighborhood vibe to the incredibly friendly, attentive staff. Everything we ordered was fresh, cooked to perfection, and reasonably priced. We had the gyoza, edamame, Hamachi Lover, Ebi Shu Mai, and the $15 Beef Set (three beef skewers), accompanied by hot tea and Ramune. The beef skewers were a highlight--tender meat with seasoning that was spot-on. Warm, welcoming, prompt, and super efficient. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating, and our waiter was extremely helpful in guiding us through the menu. Top-tier service all around. The space is small and cozy with a simple, comfortable design. Seating is a bit tight and close to neighboring tables, but there's nothing wrong with being snug, rght? It gets busy, but customers tend to eat quickly, so even without reservations, the wait moves well. Most importantly, despite it being a intimate spot, we never felt rushed at all. It's simple, which is what makes it amazing. An incredible restaurant all around--I love this place and can't wait to return. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite parts was that when you're almost done, you can ask them to pour soup into your bowl, which basically turns it into a whole second dish! Such a fun way to finish the meal. We also tried the wagyu, which was really good, but honestly, the wagyu rice stole the show for me! Overall, great food, service, and ambiance. The restaurant was packed when we went, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time!

In an area where Happy Hour is hardly found, this place is a gem!…read more I love to sit at the sushi bar, as I usually come here alone, everyone working here is very attentive and friendly but make sure if you sit at the bar that you sit away from where they place all the orders (for here and to go) as that spot gets busy and in your way. I've been here many times and my favorite things from the HH menu are the sushi tacos, bite sized different spicy fish with fried wonton skins with some avocado. Spicy tuna is my go to but friends like the spicy salmon. I also ALWAYS order a cucumber salad, very refreshing in a ginger almost peanut like sauce. Round out the HH order with the $1 edamame and one of the rolls. Absolute perfection and not breaking the bank!

They have an extensive cocktail menu with unique flavors. My husband and I started with Miso Soup and Spicy Cucumber. The miso soup was perfect for the cold weather. The spicy cucumber left more to be desired not only was it not spicy, it wasn't that flavorful at all. It tasted like just cucumber. For our main, we shared the Goma Hamachi, American Wagyu Steak, Seared Salmon Roll. The hamachi and salmon roll were our favorites. So flavorful. The steak was okay. Cooked to our liking but flavor-wise wasn't anything spectacular. The sauce it came with tasted like oil with no seasoning. For my drink, I had the margarita with mezcal. It was amazing. For the service, I wish the food had been timed out better. We had a small two top table and the food came out so quickly. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing but we rushed eating our apps because we had no table space. We had to constantly shift plates, the candle, and our drinks to make room. It was slightly frustrating.

Amazing little Japanese restaurant!!!…read more I'm always on the hunt for new sushi spots to gorge myself on raw fish. This was an amazing find! It's one of those bitterly cold New York nights and my husband is on his way out of town on business tomorrow, so we wanted to have a cute night out before he goes. We opted for a smaller restaurant to avoid any rushes and I can say for a fact we were not disappointed. I had the spicy dinner rolls (that were enough for two people if I am to be honest), and my husband had the classic sushi dinner. I'd definitely return.

I also like that their spicy tuna does not have the tempura flakes fully mixed in.
