While the food is a "good deal" with AYCE including basically anything from a large variety of rolls to ramen and other combos, the quality kind of balances it out. I've noticed quality come down a bit since the last time I've been here, i.e less baked scallop on the baked scallop sushi but either way where rolls come out to be 15-20$ a pop at a typical sushi place you'll def get your money's worth. Totally regretted coming here to eat. I was starving and tired as a tourist in Boston and just saw AYCE sushi and decided to go in and try. First off the worst sushi quality I have ever eaten. It's on par with grocery store quality sushi. And I mean American grocery stores. Not Asian markets. No variety with their options. Just look at the menu online. The portion is so small. Their steak is cut into tiny bits. Their sashimi is cut into sample bits. You can totally tell they are stingy and cheap. Don't get me started on the service. It sucks. Slow and inattentive. Our food kept coming out late. Everything was stale for fried food. Slimy for sushi. And the waitress dare chase me down to tip more than 5%. And call me shameful. And how I should be ashamed to eat out. She was fortunate to even get a tip given how horrible everything was. And for her to tell me don't come back. Don't worry. I won't! I had a terrible experience at the restaurant. I placed my order, I started feeling unwell. but still hungry. I asked for the bill and was fined for not finishing my meal. Despite this, the service was awful, so I didn't leave a tip. However, they altered my receipt by adding a tip without my consent. I had to contact my credit card company to get a refund. Have gone to Yamato II quite a few times. This time around, we got lucky and had a very respectful and polite waitress (it does not happen for most Asian restaurants). What a lucky day. At this restaurant, female waitresses are generally more polite than male waiters as most of them are rude and impatient (especially ones with glasses). At $25/head for all-you-can-eat during lunch hours, price has gone up quite a bit in the past few years, but it is still a very good deal in town because it is true all-you-can-eat. If there are more polite waiters/waitresses at this place, it is worthwhile to go more often. Lastly, the stir udon was very good on the day we went, for some reasons. we called at around 8:45pm at night seeing as to how they close at 10pm and we wanted to make sure that they are open for seating. they said they would be until 9:30pm, which was fine with us. we knew the kitchen would only be open until then too. we rushed to get there only to be turned away by the "host" right upon entering, we asked ato confirm if it's the same place we called that said they take customers until 9:30pm and they were. what's the point of saying you'll take customers until a certain time only to tell us that 10 minutes is too close to last seating, then what's the point of last seating? we got there before 9:20pm. it was upsetting because we took the time to call, and rush down to get a nice late night sushi dinner. read more

I would agree with the 3 star review on Yelp. We stopped here for lunch while attending a conference. We were seated and served right away. It's all you can eat so the sushi pieces were small but that's the norm. Where the stars are lost is the service. I got and ate my order before my wife even got here order. She only ordered 2 rolls. We came here for all you can eat sushi on a Friday night. The food comes out pretty quickly, which is nice when you are trying to eat as much as you can. We had 8 people in our party and they did a good job of bringing out all our food together. The menu works by marking off paper with pen for which rolls you would like and how many of each. There are tons of appetizers to choose from that are included, but speciality rolls cost extra $1.50 each for AYCE. My favorite roll was the Philly Tempura which comes out warm. It was around $40 for all you can eat, probably more worth it to come for lunch for a better deal, however there is a smaller menu for lunch. read more

Arrived ~3:30pm on a Saturday; dinner prices + menu start at 3pm, tried to get there earlier but hey, at least we were able to get sashimi. Orders came pretty quickly despite the dining room being relatively busy (seemingly always is). Didn't try the crab rangoon but was told they are quite good, especially for AYCE. Note, can't do partial orders on the multiple item fried things, so you're getting at least 3. Spring/egg rolls (2) were nothing special but strangly garlicky which I had no problems with. I'm a sucker for shrimp tempura and spicy tuna, was not disappointed. Spicy tuna has little tempura flakes mixed in (obvi to reduce tuna volume with filler), but somehow the crispiness makes it much better, so I'm a fan of the addition. Actually a tiny bit spicy too, which is nice since most places have no spice. The hand roll was surprisingly filled with tuna compared to last time. Tempura rolls (dragon and regular) were very tasty, since the regular shrimp is only 5 pieces I swear I could pop at least 5 whole rolls no problem. Nigiri and sashimi were fresh and tender, good quality for AYCE. Can always order more than we did but again, I gotta get me my spicy tuna. So again, ordered a spicy tuna hand roll, still packed, and enjoyed the crunchy goodness, along with some tasty sauced up eel. Ended with some red bean ice cream, tastes faintly of red bean and kind of like synthetic bubble gum flavor, fine for sugar cream to end the meal, but they should have finally and matcha maybe? Main gripes here are the lack of descriptors on each item (since sushi nomenclature is not standardized), the $1 upcharge for special rolls, and the bathroom state, (not super well taken care of, also down a maze of stairs). My husband and I dined in here for Valentines Day. This location is over an hour away from us, but for all you can eat sushi we took the trip. The food was pretty good, the restaurant was packed, the table was very small. Service was my biggest issue, our waitress only came to our table to take the order, bring the food, then bring the bill. She never came back to ask if anything else was needed like drink refill. Then when we went to pay she demanded a tip, the bill was $65 for everything we ordered which was a good price, and typically I do tip but with poor service I didn't plan to. When our waitress said something about a tip, I did try to add a tip but she wasn't pleased with the amount and demanded 20% and tried to keep my card in her hand until I tipped more. My husband said no, took the card back from her and she proceeded to tell us that if we aren't going to tip next time then order takeout or go somewhere else. So, anytime I am craving sushi I will usually come here for AYCE during lunch. I don't think I'd recommend this place if you are not looking for AYCE- price and quality of menu items when you aren't doing AYCE aren't worth it in my opinion. This place is usually pretty crowded and there may be a wait depending on when you come. I don't recall ever having to wait an absurd amount of time for a table though. They hand you a menu and a pencil and you check off everything that you plan to order. There are a bunch of kitchen fillers but I would suggest not ordering too many of them and getting full before the sushi comes out (I've definitely made this mistake before- although the crab Rangoon's are BOMB). The quality of the sushi is honestly great (especially for an AYCE joint) and there's such a wide variety of different rolls! I do remember the tuna nigiri being a little funky the last time I went though lol. Overall everything is usually reallly good. Like most AYCE places, they claim they will charge you for left over food. So try not to get greedy and order more than you can realistically finish! read more

The waiter was quick to take our order from the ayce menu but he was quite busy throughout the meal and we often had to flag him down to order more or to have our water refilled. We only ordered the crab rangoons from the kitchen and everything else was from the sushi bar. The crab rangoons came to our table within minutes of handing our order sheet to our waiter, but the sushi bar orders took a bit more time. If you're trying to take full advantage of the AYCE experience, I'd suggest placing your next sushi order as soon as you get the first order so that you don't spend time waiting. I was impressed that the sushi bar never got our order wrong even though we ordered a decent amount. The rolls and nigiri were packed with a lot of rice. I wouldn't say I was mind-blown by any of the items I got but none of them were disappointing either. The sashimi had a good texture and tasted fresh. I saw some neighboring tables order their cocktails, as well as get other items from the menu. The other menu items seemed pretty decent but I probably won't try them because I'd only come back if I was in the mood for AYCE sushi again. My husband and I came in on a Sunday evening for dinner to get some AYCE sushi. As much as we wanted to like this place, it missed the mark on all levels for us in terms of service, quality, freshness, and taste. We frequent AYCE sushi places everywhere we travel around the U.S. and Yamato II was a big let down for us. The experience was at best mediocre all around. From the second we entered the establishment, the staff seemed uninterested not even looking up from their cell phones to greet us. No hello or any sort of greeting. A woman agitatedly escorted us to be sat at a table. The restaurant was hot and stuffy and the original table they brought us to had zero air flow. When we asked if we could move to another table a little farther away from the door (the air outside was hot an humbid), the hostess was so annoyed. This already put a sour taste in our mouths. Another instance of the bad service was when we asked for some soy sauce from one of the servers and waited more than 15 minutes for it. Seeing how other tables around us were getting refills, I politely checked in about the soy sauce refill and the waiter barked at me telling me that I had to wait and be patient. Umm...okay? You were just out with the soy sauce refilling tables a few seconds ago and I've been waiting for over 15 minutes. I guess I'll wait longer? We tried various items from the AYCE menu varying from kitchen items to sushi. The price they're charging does not justify the food they are producing. Their AYCE was pricey and they still were charging a $1 extra for each specialty roll ordered. The fish did not taste fresh or seem as if it was of decent quality. If I had to make a recommendation of what to order, I found the Snow Mountain, Ebi Mango, and Steam Shumai to be the best from what we tasted. I would also recommend paying attention to the picture menu they provide you to see exactly how many pieces of an item will be served to you so you don't stumble into a grave of needing to pay for leftovers. For an all you can eat place I was surprised by how well made and pretty the food was. Everything tasted great - LOVED the hand rolls. The only meh item was the spring rolls. Price is reasonable ( came down to 27 per person in a party of six including gratuity), but definitely come for lunch since dinner is more expensive and in my opinion not that much different ( you get dessert and sashimi options for dinner hut lot for lunch ). You tick off items like how you place an order at any other restaurant. You can order as many rounds as you want. The wait for each round was a good 15-20 min so I'd suggest choosing carefully each time - go big the first round . Our server was also a bit difficult to track down, although she did refill our water once. The worst part of this experience was at the end after I paid and signed/ added a 15% tip. The server came back to our table and demanded that we give at least 25%. She was aggressive and evidently angry and gave me the pen to change the tip amount. I did not express any emotion and refused to change anything. She then called her coworker and was talking about our table. Looking at other reviews it seems like they do this often. I am a sucker for sashimi and appreciate how they don't charge extra as some places will do that. I could order plates and plates of the salmon sashimi because it was that good! Quite possibly one of the worst sushi experiences I've ever had. Ordered the spicy crispy roll and it had zero flavor and didn't taste fresh at all.
