Flaming Grill & Buffet is a spectacular spot in its price category. In a world where fast food's cost is often double-digit, a weekday lunch at an AYCE spot for $14 is beyond incredible. While food quality on its own is 'meh,' I can confidently say you get more than you pay for! When it comes to food quality, this is mediocre. The General Tso's chicken was great, though that is to be expected with an item heavy on salt, sugar, and fat; almost everything else is instantly forgettable. The sushi, for example, was on the low-tier of supermarket. At the same time, I do want to call out that there was nothing I tried so awful I spat it out. However, in a high volume, ultra-low cost spot, all non-catastrophic quality issues are immediately forgivable. Now, while Flaming Grill doesn't have everything under the sun, the variety is excellent! There are Asian, American, and Japanese dishes, as well as a salad and dessert bar, plus hibachi. While you will not find any oysters on the half-shell, I can confidently say there is something for everyone. Even with my voracious appetite and taking a small amount of what looked interesting to me, I was unable to try everything. When it comes to the service, considering the buffet nature, it was just fine. I absolutely want to award some credit as it was attentive enough that when I moved on to dessert, they knew to bring the check. As for outside my table, food items were kept refilled, as I saw nothing nearly empty. Everything was also kept clean, and no cleanliness issues were noticed. Final verdict: Unfortunately, my taste run a little more fancy than Flaming Grill & Buffet, but that is not an issue with the eatery, but a fact of my becoming bougie? I think? That said, when I find myself in MA, and waiting for the Rental Tesla to charge across the street before returning it, you can bet your serving spoon I will be coming back. read more

A huge buffet offering everything and anything you could want, and price is good, I think I paid like $20 and then a couple more with the drink. They have a variety of cuisines such as Chinese, American, and even Mexican food. They also have a sushi bar that you can get, I didn't try it this time but I would if I were to come back. They also have salads and fruit which I got later. Desert is minimal as it's ice cream cups and bars but they're good, plus options near the fruit bar. Some of the buffet items include: sushi, kung pao chicken, chicken and broccoli, hibachi fried rice, veggie fried rice, lo mein, bbq chicken, thai chicken, crab wontons, spring rolls, and sooo much more! It's $12.99 per person for lunch and that doesn't include drinks. I'd say we def got our moneys worth during lunch! Not overcrowded but enough people to feel like you're not alone there. My son and his friend were dying to try this place after another friend recommended it. We arrived at about 3 pm on a Sunday afternoon. The place was dark with an amazing amount of seating. We waited in a short line to pay for our food with sodas being extra. All in, it cost approximately $24 per person. We then waited in another line to be seated. The booth was in need of repair with part of the adjoining paneling missing. We were immediately asked what we wanted to drink. When I asked for water in addition to my soda, the waitress seemed annoyed but brought it. The food was typical buffet fare. I enjoyed the green beans and lo mein. Unfortunately I didn't notice the hibachi and sushi sections in the back. I eventually tried the sushi, which was surprisingly good. Next time I'll focus on getting some hibachi too. There were a variety of desserts and ice cream novelty items, with the latter available "to go" for &1.25 each. During most of our time, there weren't many waitresses around, making it challenging to get a refill on our sodas. Overall, the staff was helpful when you were able to get someone's attention, and our plates were cleared as we were finished. I felt a little rushed, but the boys didn't seem to mind. We went there to celebrate a Birthday and when we received the bill for 6 people, it was just a total and a receipt to sign. There was no itemized bill and they added 10 percent tip on there, and we had no way of knowing since we never saw an itemized bill. So, I tipped a 20 percent tip on top of the 10 percent. They were doing this to all large groups without any signage or any way of them knowing! My friend went to the front desk and asked for the itemized bill for her, and her mom, and later called me and brought this to my attention. This is unscrupulous business practice. Came here for dinner on a Saturday evening and it was packed but it's a big restaurant and we didn't have to wait. This place was booming. Tons of food and workers were wheeling out fresh food to change out empty pans. Plenty of sushi to choose. Grill station was very busy. Our waiter was good about coming by and grabbing our empty plates. I really have no complaints. We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Two families came separately for dinner, with different checks, and we only asked to be seated in the same section of the restaurant -- not even at the same table. The place was almost empty, yet the staff deliberately tried to seat us in different rooms. When we politely asked to sit closer together, the hostess (who introduced herself as "manager Daniela Cruzz," though another staff member gave a different name) was extremely rude. She accused us of refusing to pay tips, which was never even mentioned, and tried to force us into being seated as a "group" so they could add a service fee. When we explained that this was unacceptable and that they were losing loyal customers, the response was simply: "We don't care. Leave." We have been coming here many times before, but after this shocking treatment, we will never return. It's sad to see good restaurants lose regular clients because of unprofessional staff who push unwanted charges and treat guests with disrespect. read more

If it wasn't for y'all I wouldn't have taken pictures of the meat options because the baby back barbecue sticky ribs was calling me like they knew me personally, WTH! Do you see how much meat was on those ribs? Anywho, they had at least a dozen options of sushi AND many options at their Hibachi Grill! 3 stars for good food. Service is ok but trying to force you to pay more tips, which dose not make sense. As a buffet, they want you pay 15-25% suggested tip which is for normal restaurants. My wife and I are regular customers to this restaurant. Tonight, the food was very bad. Everything tasted horrible. The fish tasted bad with rusty color. We tried literally all other food but nothing was even palatable and we left with empty stomach. Speaking to the waiter, he said try to come early as this is expected at the end of the day and food has been there for most of the day. He normalized it with no apology even! As if we didn't pay for it! When we talked to the manager, she was indifferent, not even looking to us while listening. She was also unapologetic. No surprise since this is the same waiter attitude. The server didn't mention that we had to pay for the take out box they charged us all the plates we had including the one I added food on it and then add it in the takeout box, my friend asked for a bag so I could put my takeout food in it then the guy near the front started saying that we had to pay for the takeout box and there was a small sign saying it, but I don't know why they didn't have the sign like near the front door so people can know, the sign shouldn't be so fucking small it was ridiculous. One of my favorite lunch spots in the area. I think their General Tso's chicken is the best I've had on any menu. I really like the range of options, and love being able to pick and choose what I want to eat - for example, having one of each appetizer instead of having to order a full dish of anything. The soups are exceptional - don't skip those! The sushi is good and I've never tried the noodle bar because I always fill up on the buffet itself. There were lots of options including the usual crawfish, fried rice (2 types), fried chicken, sushi, and more. Staff was friendly and willing to help. Food was hot and the kitchen was continually turning out more fresh dishes. The flavor of the food itself is typical buffet food, not bad but not anything unique. As far as ayce Chinese Buffet this is as good as it gets. Loads to choose from everything is fresh the place is very clean. You can get hibachi and sushi and some American dishes a full salad bar and and fruits and a bunch of desserts. Loads of sauces and dressings. Chose this location to meet up with friends vs the Jamaica Plain location for the parking convenience! This is one of your typical multi-everything-cuisine buffet that has the single advantage of being in a huge building which means huge variety. We came in on a Saturday at 2pm and we're seated promptly. The place was bustling as we made our way around checking the offerings. The place was clean from what I could see. No sticky floors and the food was kept organized. In regards to the choices it's pretty ridiculous. Probably 3 aisles spanning 10 to 15 feet filled with your typical buffet fare of Asian and American foods. Also had a sushi and habachi station which was alright (I would pass on most of the sushi offerings). Lots of desserts present (cream puffs, cakes, cookies, fruit, jello etc) though one interesting note is the ice cream. Instead of your typical tubs of self serve they have small individual packs of ice cream cups AND various popcicles and ice cream sandwiches! The odd part is the sign stating each one being 50 cents which kinda ruins it (not sure how they'll tally that up if you're sneaky... Honor system it is I guess). Overall we were quite satisfied with the results. Waiters that came by cleared our plates but didn't automatically top off our drinks (too busy I assumed). Price was also a steal at the total being a smidgen over $30 for 3 people (no including tip). Overall if you want lots of choices and a good price definitely give this place a try! read more

Lunch today at Flaming Grill and for sure, you can't beat the price. Lots of empty tables on a weekday, which meant that they didn't have to crowd folks in too tight. Comfortable. There are several steam tables and a few cold tables. And of course, the sushi and hibachi are included too. I spent most of my calories over at the sushi tables, which had a decent selection of salmon and tuna and avocado maki rolls, plus a few that had been fried and covered in sauce. The trays were quite full and good choices. On the steam tables, many items were pretty far from traditional. Most of the chicken and shrimp options were fried and covered in sauces. But then, most people coming to a buffet aren't really looking to make all healthy choices. What could have been better? Refilling drinks, picking up litter (a napkin was on the floor the whole time I was there) and the tongs at the sushi area were sticky. Thankfully, I brought my own Purell and dosed regularly after filling my plate. One very long table of desserts including fresh fruit, pastries, cakes plus a full bunker of ice cream. read more

This place has alot of really good chinese, japanese and a cook to order hibachi. I only tried lunch and plan to try dinner. Only negative was I noticed as mentioned in another review the "light green colored wasabi not the usual shade of darker green so that seemed a bit "off" but it seemed like real wasabi and tasted fine when mixed into the soy sauce but maybe they should switch to the greener stuff, everyones a bit over picky when it comes to sushi and I can see where anyone can tell it just doesn't look the right color green for wasabi. Great stuff I had: General Gaus chicken, hong kong muscles, lo mein noodles, chicken, very good raw sushi seemed fresh and was very good.ice cream is worth having for desert, the hot and sour soup is good, put some sriracha sauce in it. Be sure to get sriracha sauce in a bowl on the side to spice everything up just a bit.
