Came here on a weekend evening and we were pretty lucky that there weren't many other people here - there was no wait and we were seated quickly. Our server said the place was usually pretty busy and hectic so we definitely were fortunate it wasn't like that when we went. I liked the little bar to grab side dishes - as an AYCE spot, having the ability to get sauces and things like lettuce and bonchon yourself was very nice. The food itself was all right - not the best meat ever, but good for the price and restaurant. The other dishes like the pancake and bibimbop were solid as well - no complaints! We finished the meal off with ice cream as well which you just grab from a mini fridge on the side. Our server was super friendly and nice, she made the experience pleasant and was very attentive. I would only suggest this restaurant to someone that has been to a Korean, cook yourself place, and really enjoys the experience. I would caution anyone that is uncertain or unfamiliar. I would tell anyone that doesn't like incredibly fatty meat, or that likes their food cooked beyond medium rare to dine elsewhere. The hostess was friendly, we told her we had never been to the restaurant before, she quickly walked us thru the menu. Our waiter came by, we told him we had never been there before. We ordered various dishes, and plates of meat were dropped off. No explanation whatsoever. As he turned to leave, I said again, we'd never been there before. No insight into how best/long to cook anything. Every meat dish was incredibly fatty, like, 2/3rds fat. I placed meat on the grill, it cooked very slowly. I asked him to turn up the temperature as we liked our meats cooked well, so he turned the heat up. At one point he said he was going to swap out the grill-pan, and turned the heat down, while meats were still cooking. This was incredibly frustrating, I felt like food was taking forever to cook, and the longer I sat there staring at the meat, the more annoyed I got. It was all you can eat. We didn't finish our first order of 5 dishes we were so annoyed. It was not worth the money, it was an unejoyable experience. I've only been to a few self-cook Korean restaurants previously, and generally liked them. Each time I come here I enjoy it less. I noticed new servers who were decent but noticeably passive aggressive. We used to get this very nice lady who always greeted us with a smile and was more than happy to help and explain menu items. You can tell she is genuinely a kind person. But this time we got a different server who barely gives us a second of her time - she took drink orders when not everyone was present and when we tried to flag her down to get more drinks she didn't even stop to listen, she just kept walking away from us. - our burner wasn't cooking well so we turned it up but each time our server comes by and turns it down without saying ANYTHING ??? She does this a couple times, walking by messing with the burner without saying anything. So when she did it for the 5th time we stopped her and asked politely if she could please stop doing that because our food is taking forever to cook - but she didn't even let us FINISH our sentence before she immediately answers "ITS AGAINST THE RULES TO TURN UP THE BURNER PAST LEVEL 5 ITS NOT ALLOWED" and proceeded to walk away right after. I'm shocked...why did she not simply inform us of this "rule" which is not written anywhere? Instead of coming by turning down our burner she should have just told us. I felt so uncomfortable. ALSO I'm aware this rule could be in place to not burn the food but that's why they switch out the burners for you when it gets too burnt. But at level 4/5 the food was simply just not searing or getting a good color on the meat. I prefer medium to medium rare cook on my steak. I agree with the other reviews about their burner not evenly distributing heat. It's always super hot in the middle and the sides barely cook. Super annoying. ALSO - usually when I come here they allow us to order more meat whenever we asked. The rule is 9 menu items per order. We ordered 9 items in the first "round". Once we finished most of the food we had 1 item remaining so we decided to order more for the second "round" but our server refused to take our second order because we didn't finish that 1 item. I think that's just ridiculous. I understand they're being cautious of food waste, but be so for real. After our server refused to take our second order until we finished all the food at the table, another server came by and kindly and voluntarily took our order. We finished all our food BY THE WAY. They now stick with the new menu where it's $43 per person. There's no more option to get standard or premium menu anymore. I think $43 is still a good deal for the variety and options. Lots of side dishes from the "salad bar", lots of good variety from the kitchen, large variety and good Quality of meat, and my favorite is their complimentary melona ice cream. Wow, we LOVED this place! Its AYCE korean BBQ. The place is right on route 1 in saugus, with ample outdoor parking. The inside is beautiful and kinda dark. The tables and seating are wide and open. Very comfortable! They have a buffet bar to get sides (like lettuce, Jalapenos etc) and a few other things. The best part though, is the unlimited meat selection. There is a lot to try and we were satisfied with all of them. My favorite "side dish" is their chicken wings. I thought they were better than Bon Chon korean fried chicken. There is a bar in side and many seating. There was only 1 waitress serving several of our tables there that day, and it got a little hectic. However, she was so pleasant and friendly. She was literally running/hopping around from table to table and getting us what we needed. There was never any attitude when we asked for more meat/food. Needless to say, amazing service! We are a party of three adults and two kids. When we arrived, the host was very nice and patiently explained how to order and informed me about the children's prices. We were really looking forward to K-town BBQ. If the food was good, we planned to hold a big birthday party here next month. However, after we sat down, we waited a long time without seeing our waitress. When she finally took our order, many of the dishes we ordered never arrived. Each time we tried to call the waitress, it took a long time, and we waited a long time for our food. When our water ran out, it wasn't refilled, and there was no explanation for the missing dishes. Every time we called the waitress or make eye contact, it felt like she couldn't see us. I even asked the host if she could help us with our order since we waited for a very long time. I suggest that everyone avoid ordering any cooked food from the menu; they won't serve it to you. We only got our cooked dishes when we were about to leave. The Japchae I wanted for the kids never arrived, and the steamed egg they brought was overcooked, and burned. Leaving the kids with hardly anything to eat. Meanwhile, the table next to us, which arrived later, was already being served cooked food and meats. The meat portions were also very small; each time we ordered, it was gone before we could enjoy it. We kept waiting for the waitress to come, and the grill almost got burned. Overall, it was very awkward and a terrible experience. I initially thought I'd just brush it off and wouldn't return, chalking it up to bad luck. But then I realized why she treated us this way; K-town BBQ mandates a 20% tip! No wonder she didn't want to pay us any attention, as she'd still receive the 20% tip regardless! The most frustrating part was that it took us 15 minutes just to get the check and another 15 minutes waiting to get our credit card back. So, you're stuck waiting and waiting. In the end, I reduced the tip to 15%. However, they revise my tip amount back to 20% according to my credit card company without my permission. I am really upset. More of a 3.5 stars - K-Town BBQ offers endless meats and Korean fare right on Route1. SERVICE: I have to highlight the service first. Everyone was incredibly nice, especially our server who was very funny and helpful throughout the night. SALAD BAR: They have a small salad bar where you can grab some side dishes and veggies. Next to the salad bar is a small sauce station. They have some variety but wish there were more veggie options! STARTERS: GET THE WINGS! I cannot stress this enough. It was probably one of the best items I had. Soy garlic, crispy and juicy wings. The gyoza was standard and can be skipped. Steamed eggs are also standard but great to pair with the meats. MEAT: The most important thing about kbbq are the meats which K-Town seems to struggle with. The beef tongue was way too thick so it became hard to chew. Some of the meats were marinated in a way that was either too salty or sweet unfortunately but if you eat it with rice, it's not too bad. SPACE: Very spacious and clean! We came with a big group and they separated us into two tables but it still worked out as we next to each other. K-Town BBQ opened recently on Route 1 North in Saugus, in the same strip plaza as Fuddruckers, just north of the Kowloon. This space went from Brazilian BBQ (formerly Midwest Grille) to Korean BBQ (K-Town BBQ). This All You Can Eat Korean BBQ offers hot grilling at each table in the main dining room with choices of meats, veggies, and sauces. There is also a separate bar section to the right. I stopped by on a rainy weekday evening and it wasn't too busy and I was seated after they wiped down a table for me. I was directed to scan a QR code for the menu, but I had already taken a photo of the menu for quick reference. They have 2 AYCE options on the pricier side, similar pricing to other current Koran BBQ places in the area They offer the Classic ($37.99 plus tax) which includes 10 meat & seafood choices and the salad bar (actually veggies, kimchi and spiced veggies for the grill). The Signature ($42.99 plus tax) includes everything in the Classic plus 10 additional meat & seafood choices (exotic choices), starters (wings, fried gyozas), spicy tofu soup, noodles and Hoodsie cups for dessert. Unless you're on a keto diet, then it was obvious to go with the Signature AYCE, which I definitely did. I placed an initial order for several meats including ribeye steak, hangar steak, spicy calamari, shrimp, bulgogi chicken, pork belly, garlic udon noodles, fried chicken gyozas, plus a mix of vegetables & kimchi from the salad bar. The grill was turned on and it took a while for the grill to become very hot. The ingredients were brought out quickly and tongs and scissors (to easily cut meats and veggies). The staff actually helped out to cut the meats into smaller pieces with the scissor for faster cooking. The seafood, veggies, and noodles cooked quickly, but the steaks and chicken took a while to grill. With some ponzu and bibimbap sauces, the food tasted very good and on the spicier flavor side. I ordered seconds on some items and also tried some octopus too. I kept the orders small since they have a policy of order what you want, but eat what you order. They have a warning on the menu with a food waste charge of $15 if there is leftover meats/seafood not eaten. After I was almost full, I grabbed a Hoodsie Cup from the freezer for dessert, vanilla fudge swirl ice cream. The check for one person was $46 with tax and before tip. This is on the pricier side for Korean BBQ based on the limited, but good choices here. Overall, a pretty good Korean BBQ experience at K-Town BBQ with helpful service. This place had a decent selection of ingredients and good service. I will mention that this place and other area Korean BBQ places are not like the KPot chain, which is aggressively expanding into the Northeast & beyond and offers both AYCE hot pot and/or Korean BBQ with much more choices for a lower price by about $10 per person less, starting at $28.99 pp in 2022. KPot is not yet in the Greater Boston area in 2022, closest location is planned in West Springfield soon. It's only a matter of time when KPot comes to the Boston area. Local Korean BBQ places would need to step up their game if that happens. read more

I was so glad that a new AYCE Korean restaurant opened up. Being that it just opened last week, I consider this still a soft opening. Of course there will be flaws. Let's start with the decor and seating. Decent size bar on the right. I believe there was 25-30 tables. I noticed that they did not have a room for big groups. Also I did not see a table with more than one grill. I noticed there was a party of 7 at one table with one grill. With their 90 minute rule, no way one grill will feed 7 people. Now that I brought up the grill, it's not the best... it's an electric grill. It's not as powerful as other grills. It barley gave any char to the meats. Also, I did not see any sort of ventilation. It was getting so smoky. Now to the service and food. The service was really good. The staff is super nice and attentive. One staff did stand out. I don't know if he was the owner or not, but my man was busting his butt off because I believe they're understaffed . He was hosting, serving, busing, and cleaning. Thank you for your service , man. You and the other staff were great. Food? It was alright... before I get into it, the fried chicken wings were amazing! Similar to Bon Chon and Crave, it was crispy and flavorful. I was with a party of 5 , we ordered 50 total wings LOL Now to the marinated meats, my favorite was the beef belly. It was thinly sliced and cooked faster. Garlic pork belly was good. Spicy hangar steak and diced ribeye steak was good. It would have been better if the grill gave it that char... Because they just opened, some of the stuff on the menu was not available. The garlic noodles were ok. If you like garlic, its good enough to get. The salad bar itself and sauce bar was good. Sesame oil was a little off. Probably the brand they're using. Overall, my group came to the conclusion, we have to give them some time until coming back. I will come back in a couple months when they finally settled in. We opted for the $43 a person selection. The bill for 5 people came out to be around $225. Because they're new, the staff and service was great, we wanted to support and tip them 25-30%. Hopefully things will pick up and get better. I forgot to take pics of the meats we ordered, but the only decently tasting meat was the kalbi. We were super hyped because of the high reviews this place got, but honestly I'm very confused to why they rated it that high. I definitely kept my expectations low once I saw the side dishes (banchan), because as a Korean the options were actually wild. The radish was good but the kimchi was absolutely horrendous and so salty and did not taste anything close to decent kimchi. The meats itself were fine but it was super chewy and the beef tongue was cut super thick (it is supposed to be thin). They didn't even provide appropriate korean sauces for the meats. Now, the ttokbokki (spicy rice cakes) was actually so sad because it did not taste like ttokbokki at ALL. I don't think they used the right ingredients for it because that was so sad to taste. The only redeeming factor was the fact that they had Melona ice cream which is authentic. But that's it. As for service, there was only 1 waitress working and that is just inevitable that service was slow. As an AYCE the selections were very little and disappointing, and it isn't justified by the price honestly. It was $70 for 2 people, and we left after the first round that consisted of 4 meats... we were still hungry and decided to eat somewhere else after. I am being a little harder on this because they say they are a Korean BBQ place, but this gives a bad rep for actual korean bbq. Went here recently. Not much I can say that is positive. I did like the veggies that were on side (as part of all you can eat). Lots of rules and fees about wasted food. The price I guess wouldn't be that bad but the meats were low quality and fatty. I left there reeking of smoke, so there is poor ventilation. You have to cook it yourself which is a ridiculous thing in my mind. Why not just stay home and cook? This is the second time we have been here. The first time, the service was great. However, the consistency of the service isn't that great. Our second time here, the waiter spilled the raw marinated sauce on me and did not even apologize. It was clear the waiter saw the spill, but he just walked away and did not even gave us more napkins to clean the spill (until we asked for some paper to clean up the spill ourselves). Nor did he clean the floor. Which could have been a slip hazard. Watch out, gratuity is pre-included with at least 20% (written by the server), even if the service is bad! I had some high hopes for this place but after the visit it was more of meh~~ I think looking back should have just gone with the more expensive AYCE menu as their marinated meat gets pretty heavy after a while and it's nice they included few seafood options to mix things up but definitely would need more variety. So 2 stars for the menu and food but they have great service since we came on Christmas Day and it was very quiet only a few tables and they looked after us pretty well. I do have to agree with another reviewer that this place really should have a fan vent above the stove as the smell is really apparent after sitting in a while. But yeah it's a major investment for sure maybe just have some ceiling fans for air circulation would be nice. It's a relatively new place and it's in a shopping plaza right off route 1 so very accessible. Hopefully they can mix up their menu offerings so that it'll be worth a second visit. read more

I would say the the flavors could be better but there are alot of selections of food on the menu, the price is reasonable I believe. Honestly, the side dishes arent the best, the bean sprouts needs a little bit of umami for my tastebuds. Kimchi was good atleast and the sides and other sauces are self served so you wont have to bug the servers to get lettuce. Came on a Sat night at 545pm and there were only a few tables. Around 630pm, there was a wait. So try to get in before 6pm if you plan to go during dinner. We've read mixed reviews online but decided to try it for ourselves. When we first got in, we were greeted by the owner right away. She was very friendly and explained the menu. We had a vegetarian in our party and she suggested due to limited options on the AYCE menu, she said she could order off the to go menu (has a good amount of vegetarian options). This was very helpful to know as we didn't know there was a to go menu option. Our server was very friendly as well and attentive. The service here was great (just as most reviewers mentioned). The food itself was really 3 stars. I rated 4 mostly for the service. If you've never had Korean BBQ or if you live in the area, then this may not be too bad. But as someone that's had KBBQ elsewhere, there are other, better spots. I know AYCE would not have the best quality, but there should be more options that are not marinated and more varieties. Many meats were marinated the same, so they all tasted about the same. Also with so much marinade, it caused the grill to need to be changed more frequently and created a lot more smoke. The lack of ventilation made it difficult to enjoy, especially when it got so smokey. Besides clothes and hair smelling after you leave (as expected), your face and skin smells too. Most places nowadays (hot pot and kbbq) has installed or added better ventilation). With this place being newly opened, we thought there should be better ventilation. They have a small unlimited salad bar, ice cream and sauce area that you can get yourself. The cooked items like steamed eggs, chicken wings, fried gyoza all took a long time to get. A new Korean BBQ in town! I had high hopes, but alas, I think they have a bit more work to do first. But let's start with the positive: the food was quite delicious. The Kimchi was not too spicy, just how I like it, the cucumbers and similar veggies all tasted great, so did the meats - I tried thin-sliced beef ribeye, pork belly, and the marinated chicken (and 3 portions is definitely enough for one person). No complaints there! When I came in it was quite full, but at least 4 tables or so were empty, but apparently not servable. I was told to wait for 15 minutes or so, which of course was no big deal. I asked if I could get a beer and sit at the bar, which was no problem. The bar is a bit weird: it's a narrow strip of a normal restaurant bar with stools and a TV, but was completely empty. No barkeeper, no guests. No big deal though. However, I ended up having to wait 35 minutes or so. The person who greeted me and served me the beer (the manager??) was very friendly, no complaints there. It seemed like a hectic (Thursday) night. When I was seated, I noticed that it was really cold in the restaurant. If I were to guess, I'd say 60F. So cold in fact that at the end of my meal, I really wanted to leave, as it was getting uncomfortable and I didn't bring anything warm to wear (why would I? It was a nice warm fall evening). The whole place was also very loud. I think that's in the nature of such a place though - not sure what they can do about that. Same with the occasional smokeyness - I guess some guests let some meat burn, but there were times of very noticeable smoke in the air. Again, probably a side effect of the type of restaurant where guests cook themselves. Not sure what they can do about that either. Also, it was quite brightly lit. I think dimming the lights could help a bit with atmosphere. With the hecticness and the lighting, it didn't really feel as welcoming to me as it could be. But now let's get to the price. First, I expected some a la carte options, like Japchae. Alas, none of that - just the All You Can Eat BBQ. You have 2 options: The Classic with less meat options for $37, and the Premium one (forgot what its called) for $42 if I remember correctly (they don't seem to have a website??). I wonder if that's normal for a Korean BBQ; but think about it: I left the place paying $50 incl. one beer (a large Sapporo), the Classic, tip, and taxes. $50 for a dinner - I am used to paying that in a steak house maybe, or for really good sushi. But this doesn't really compare with those experiences, at least not for me. Is it just me? Maybe. Make up your own mind. The food is good, the service was friendly (both the greeter/beer bringer/manager (?) and the waiter), parking is of course ample, and I think it can be a good place for a fun night out with friends I think. I was on my own, and maybe that's unusual, but I just felt it wasn't worth what I paid. If you made it this far: congrats. I don't think I ever wrote a review this long lol. May it help the owners. Great korean bbq! Route 1 sucks but its worth putting up with for K-Town. Not my first kbbq experience but this was my first time here. We walked in and were greeted by the most amazing wonderful woman who was very helpful. She walked us through the two AYCE tiers and we settled on the "signature" so we could have access to the spicy meats as well as japchae and gyoza. We selected our meats, grabbed some veggies from the bar and started cooking. Everything was delicious but the regular beef bulgogi and the spicy pork were the hits at the table. The woman was very attentive - checking on us regularly, filling waters, changing out the grill plate (2 times!) etc. The service was phenomenal. We got the signature and all the marinated meats taste the same, spicy or not. All the meats had about 60% straight fat, not the place you want to go to if you're looking for quality cuts of meat. The only redeeming food items here were the chicken wings and the soybean soup. Beware, when ordering chicken wings, if you say 1 order, they'll actually only bring you one drumstick out. I was in disbelief when they brought it out. Also I could barely breathe in there because they had zero air vents. I'm not even sure how they were allowed to open. The whole place was so smoky and the only time I felt relief was when someone came in or left and the doors were open or when I was in the bathroom.. They have to iron out a lot of the service issues as the waiter barely knew the menu and we also had to send back food that we didn't even order. Overall a logistical nightmare in there. Glad there's a KBBQ place open in the North Shore but safe to say I will not be returning anytime soon. The food was too subpar but what can I say, it's an AYCE KBBQ place after all. I won't go again. This is the worst Korean barbecue I've ever had. The girll near the center of the stove is very hot, but the sides are completely cold, making it impossible to cook evenly. The ingredients lack flavor, and the tofu stew tastes like nothing I've ever had before--in a bad way. The steamed egg soup has a strong fishy smell. Each dish is worse than the last. read more

This place is not worth the prices. The buffet style food is limited. You order the meats, seafood etc on a two sided menu which states two prices. It is not listed as "per person". $43 and $37 plus. It is misleading so BEWARE. You cook the meats, seafood yourself on the grill inserted on the table. It was supposed to be unlimited with free salad bar. They served us twice. Price was $85.98 not including drinks and State tax. Informed us there was a freezer on the opposite side of the restaurant with ice cream. They were generic branded, blue bunny mini sundaes. Drinks are Coke products which is $2.75 (per glass). The atmosphere is okay nothing fancy. Would not recommend. Should not recommend stars they get one because of misleading information. read more

Love this place for AYCE kbbq.... Way better than Sura in Medford. Super affordable too! Management was very kind and let my party enter the restaurant with all of our gear and store our electric rideables inside. We will definitely visit again! Location, atmosphere and big parking lot. It was easy to find right off route 1 The service was great The host was very informative it we had the we have the signature menu AYCE. TRUST ME THERE'S NO SHORTAGE OF FOOD. I had to lychee martini it tastes very good it was very well made . The services we had through the waitress was great she was very attentive and she was always cleaning up and helping us in guidance through the process of cooking our food and ask us if you ever needed more things. Food was very tasty and the service was phenomenal. Lee and Helen were super nice and welcoming and encouraged us to try a bunch of stuff off the menu that we hadn't thought of. It was a new experience for us having never been to this style of restaurant before, so we already took away a few lessons. For example: get veggies and sauces to mix in from the salad bar to cook with the meat, don't eat all your rice and noodles at once, and order more sake. Can't wait to come back! read more

Food was so-so. The "bibimbap" was actually repurposed fried rice with a few shredded carrots mixed in, instead of the full array of marinated veggies. We ordered both the beef and the chicken bibimbap and the beef had shares of bone mixed in with very gristly meat. The marinade was flavorful but the meat quality was off-putting. I would not go here for Korean food with other great options nearby in Burlington and in Peabody with similar casual ambience and prices. Did the Signature KBBQ -- overall it was really good and had a lot of options. Recommend getting the galbi and thin ribeye. The chicken wings were super crispy (exceeded expectations). Our experience here was overall amazing. Right off the bat, both the hostess and our server were so nice and friendly. We went with the basic options and left full and satisfied. All the meat was fresh and well marinated! The salad bar was clean, with lots of options and good sauce options. This place is incredible for the price and the wait staff who were always smiling to serve you. Their menu was fairly big and each of every item I had was above average to slap yo mama delicious. First have to mention the wings were phenomenal. They have a much better crisp than bon chon so just that itself is already a win. Sauce can be just a bit better but still love it. The meats were also great quality and addictive. The hanger steak, galbi, and pork belly were my favorites and taste amazing with beer. Not to mention the little side dish/vegatble bar they have in front of the kitchen. It has my favorites garlic, lettuce, jalepeno and countless sauces. Incase if you're curious, this place is much better than Sura in medford. It just blows that Ktown bbq is fairly far from boston. PLEASE OPEN UP IN SOUTH SHORE!! My friends and I opted to get the signature AYCE style. We ordered a variety of their meats and dishes including thinly sliced beef ribeye, hanger steak, beef, belly, beef tongue, diced ribeye, garlic & salt pork belly, galbi, spicy chicken gizzard, fried gyoza, and kimchi pancake. They had a salad bar and a sauce station to pair with the meats. Out of all the sauces, I most enjoyed the soybean paste and ponzu sauce. Unfortunately, the sweet soy did not have much flavor to it. In terms of the meat dishes, I most enjoyed the beef belly, hanger steak, and galbi. I tried the spicy alternative of some of their meat dishes as well, but I did not like the marinade as much. I usually like beef tongue but found some pieces really tough to chew so I was not fond of it. The pork belly was alright, but the garlic marinade felt a bit too much. The fried gyoza tasted good like standard frozen ones that were deep fried. The kimchi pancake was flavorless, so I did not like it too much. What stood out from this restaurant was the exceptional service. Every worker was friendly and willing to step in and help with the grill. They frequently changed the grill for us and checked in often when we wanted to order more meat. Overall, I would give this place a rating of 3.5 (rounded up to 4) as it was alright, but I have also had better elsewhere. read more

After a rough start to the year I thought it was a giid idea to treat my daughter to a night out. Our server was incredibly nice, attentive, and helpful and added so much to our experience.
