Swung by on Tobin Bridge and saw this just opened up! Get fresh slices of meat (not frozen like some places) and grill them at your leisure. This is an AYCE on appetizers, meats and a side dish bar that has all you need from kimchi, pickled cucumbers, lettuce, garlic, mini sauce bar...etc! My favorite was the beef tongue, fatty beef and galbi! The upgrade to the supreme menu is so worth! The waitresses were so nice and came by often to change the grill because she said "it makes the next batch of meat taste better" even though it was more work on her part! Also she made sure we got some free ice cream after our meal! Parking is convenient with a large lot. Probably a 15-20 minute drive from Boston so def give it a try! read more

Heard this place just opened in MA, so we had to check it out ourselves. There are not too many AYCE kbbq restaurants in the Boston area so we wanted to see if this place was worth coming back. We came on a Sunday night around 7pm. There was no wait for our party of 4. The staff was super attentive compared to the service we had gotten at the other ayce kbbq establishments. They were always consistently checking on our table and changing our grill! We opted for the premium level for the table which included all the meats, lots of hot dishes, and the salad bar. The salad bar was pretty decent as you have a sauce bar with all of the classic kbbq dips such as sweet soy, sesame oil, and the ssamjang sauce (gochujang and soybean paste). The salad bar also had kimchi, radish kimchi, seaweed salad, raw garlic, fresh jalapeños, cut fruit, and lettuce for wraps. The salad bar was my favorite since I don't like bothering the wait staff constantly for these items (in the past at other places, staff would forget and I would have to ask multiple times for even one portion). As far as the hot foods, the steamed egg I wish was more flavorful and the ttebboki had a little too strong of a tomato/ketchup taste, however, the Korean fried chicken was super crispy and they were able to make it per piece rather than a set amount for each order. The meat was pretty fresh. The Galbi (LA Kalbi) and dice steak were my favorites. The only downside is that I wish there was less marinated meat such as brisket. Hoping they do add brisket and regular pork belly in the future!! I would say that the price point for this is pretty fair since there were many options but if you aren't too adventurous in trying different meats (aka if you don't like chicken gizzard), the base level would suffice too as it has most of the popular basics. Restaurant is very dated. Waitstaffs are very nice and attentive. We went for the classic entree includes white rice. Thank goodness because that was plenty. The unlimited bbq meat were very flavorful and tender and fatty as well seafood selection. We selected squid and shrimp. We have been passing this place for months and talked about stopping and trying it. Well today was the day. It was fantastic. Amazing service, delicious food, and great ambiance. You can tell the employees like working here. They worked like a team...our server was reading our mind...thought about more napkins they just suddenly appeared, more water same. First thing I notice is that there is no smoke ventilation so just know that your clothes will definitely smell. The menu seems decent, however I feel like there're wasn't much variety but still decent. Obviously went for the signature since classic would not do us justice. The staff were pretty nice, we came in as a party of 4 on Saturday and got sat right away. I assume since it's grand opening, so not many people know about it. I was pretty hype to have an AYCE kbbq since the only ones I know nearby is Sura. So far, I'd enjoy this place a lot! The salad bar is a pretty good concept, because sometimes kbbq give you side dishes that you don't like or if you want more, you don't need to ask for it. You can just grab as much as you want! We went to K-Town BBQ last night and had a really great time. I give it a solid four stars with one extra star just for the service quality. If not for the amazing service from Helen, I would give it a 3.5. None of the food really made me say wow. The food was good, slightly over mid.. Although the marinated chicken was particularly good. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, service was very Knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. They a great selection of drinks in my opinion. If you like Korean barbecue, you will not be disappointed. If you've never tried it before this is a great restaurant close by to try it for the first time. Although many of the marinated meats taste very similar, I recommend any of those they were all pretty good. The hanger steak had a lot of fat and I would stay away from the garlic noodles, they were over cooked without much flavor. Definitely try the Soju and be sure to visit the salad bar for all your sides and sauces. As someone who values good service and friendly staff, K-Town barbecue goes on the top of my list for service. One last bit of advice. We opted for the more expensive option of the two available. But I don't think we actually ordered anything that wasn't included on the less expensive option. So be mindful before you order. You might not miss out on anything with the cheaper option and save a couple of bucks or spend more on drinks. Happy eating! read more

We tried to sit at the bar while we waited but we were starving so we decided we'd try this place another time. To the owners: Please consider holding a small amount of tables for reservations or consider having some type of online waitlist to join. I'd like to start off by saying the staff was great. I had no issue with them, in fact they were the only positive thing that came from this rest. The establishment seems to also be very understaffed which doesn't help them, but in any case, in regards to the food this place is so trash. They have a marinated section on the menu and the meats I ordered from that section all had the exact same taste, cardboard. I also never thought that lettuce could taste like anything, like at all, but this place just keeps amazing me with how unbelievably bad it taste. Tonight was my family's first visit to this place. We are big fans of Korean BBQ, and have gone to Sura in Medford many times. This time we decided to give K-Town BBQ a try. Location: On the north bound side of Route 1, in Saugus, literally just past the famous Kowloon Restaurant. Easy to find. Plenty of parking. 5 stars. Seating and decor: The restaurant itself was large and spacious, with somewhat classic Korean decor. We were seated immediately by the enthusiastic hostess. Our party of 4 got a spacious booth. It should be noted that when you go to Japanese sushi AYCE or Korean BBQ AYCE, the table is almost always too small. They give you a table designed for 4 people with 4 plates, and then you get dozens and dozens of items to eat, with just as many dishes. It's always a struggle to find room on the table. Not here. We got a table with a large grill in the middle, and there was still plenty of space left over. 5 stars. Service: It was a slowish Tuesday night, and there were only 2 servers handling 5 tables. Our server was attentive, polite, friendly, and informative. Every request was answered with a smile and prompt service. 5 stars. Food: We ordered the "signature" 2nd Tier AYCE, which came to $43 per person. For that price, we had access to pretty much the entire menu. We had a nice spicy tofu soup, tasty Gyoza, kimchi pancake, and sort of a self service ban chan where we went up to a salad bar and got our own snacks like beat sprouts, seaweed salad, and tofu. Not long after we ordered, we got a large selection of meats including ribeye, thick and thin cut pork belly, shelled shrimp, baby octopus, and pretty much all the usual stuff you expect to see at a Korean BBQ. The shrimp and octopus was fine, but here is where I came up with an unpleasant surprise. The steak and pork belly were disappointing. Most of the steak were stringy and tough. There were many pieces of steak that I had to pull at with a fork because I just couldn't get through it no matter how much I chewed. I was eating a lot of gristle and fat. There were occasional pieces that were not bad, but they were the exception. As for the pork belly, although we were supposed to get thick and thin cuts, all the pork belly that we got were pretty thin, and pretty fat. Now, with pork belly being a bit fat is not always bad. But in this case, I looked at the pork belly and thought to myself, "we got the cheap stuff". As for taste, both the marinated beef and marinated pork belly tasted pretty unexciting. When you bite into a piece of perfectly cooked pork belly at a Korean BBQ, the taste is succulent and mouth watering. I've had Korean BBQ in lots of places, and that's how it is in almost every place. Here at K-Town, I wouldn't say the meat tasted bad. But at no point did I think to myself, "Mmm..this is yummy". It's the kind of feeling you get when you bite into, say, a McDonald's Filet of Fish. Does it taste bad? No, of course not. But it doesn't send you any feeling of super enjoyment either. At this price point, I expected quite a bit more. 2.5 stars. So, we walked out having spent about $230 for what I would consider to be a quite average dining experience. I didn't hate it. But in the Boston area there are dozens of places where I can buy my family of 4 a very delicious and satisfying AYCE dinner of sushi, hotpot, or Korean BBQ for under $200. For me, K-Town comes up short in the part of the dinner that mattered the most. The food came up short. read more

While staying at hotel next door, we walked over to have Korean BBQ here. Lee was the wait staff and we must say, she was the absolute BEST!! We had only been at a Korean BBQ restaurant once so Lee took us step by step in how to order, what to order, how to cook, wrap, season our food. SHe was the most energetic server we have ever had and made us feel absolutely special. We just finished dining here for the first time and am so happy we have more Asian food options in the north shore and having a Korean bbq place is a plus! They are understaffed for sure but the employees were hustling like crazy, they were all friendly and our waitress was amazing (older woman with short hair)!!! They were all very attentive. The meat was good and we didn't feel like they were being skimpy with the meat (not the best but we can't compare to New York or LA) the marinades were great and I like that they have the ban Chan (side dishes) and sauces as self serve in the back. The fried chicken was one of the best things we've had, it was so crispy. It did get a little smoky in there but beggars can't be choosers, the lack of good variety of Asian food in the north shore is so limited so I am definitely continuing to support them. FYI for those who have never been to a Korean bbq place, you do cook the meat yourself but it's a socializing experience! I hope they make it, the wait can be long on a weekend but please be patient and give them a try! Just for anyone who is expecting real Korean BBQ, this isn't the place for real Korean food/BBQ. It was basically a mock version of Korean BBQ. They tried very hard which I give credit for but they didn't do so well. Decoration- they tried so hard to be Korean pojangmacha style but there are so many typos and irrelevant texts that me and my friends were laughing at. I know not a lot of people would notice it, but if you are Korean or someone who knows how to read Korean, it is quite entertaining to read the walls. Environment- one of the reasons you can tell this isn't legit Korean BBQ place. You would never expect a Korean BBQ place to have no window or vent for each table/grill. By the time we were done eating the restaurant was full of smokes that they had to pop the door open to vent the air. Food- Nangmyoen (cold noodle) was in ddukbaegi which is a bowl for a hot food, and it had bean sprouts and carrots with sesame oil. Not cold at all, and tasted nothing like Nangmyoen. Soft tofu soup was very blend and had a distinct smell to it which I believe was eggplant. In my 3n Korean life, never seen eggplant in soft tofu soup. Japchae was super oily and had no flavor, and it was more like stir fry. It was Definitely not a Korean japchae. Ddukbokki was probably the only thing that was close to the actual Korean food. But it was really less than average ddukbokki you can get anywhere around. Meat is meat. It was ok. But they didn't clean up the BBQ grill or replace it when we had burnt stuff on it. Again different from real Korean BBQ. So if you are going there for meat, that's fine. The servers were slow but nice. Some people may like the food they have and feel free to order the food they offer. Just don't expect them to be real korean food. read more

For all you can eat, it's decent. My partner and I got the signature choice and it came with ice cream at the end and all you can eat salad bar! Lots of choices for meats and sides/appetizers. I would say I liked the variety. The salad bar was nice, not a huge selection but good for kimchi and all of that. The only thing was the kimchi radish was super salty which was a bummer! I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately I have to give it one star. The staff were very helpful as it was our first time eating korean BBQ. Tool plenty of time to explain in detail how the menu worked and the different options. However I found it very over priced for the meat and seafood options. We left spending well over 100 dollars at lunch time, but that's wasnt all. Korean BBQ is the gift that keeps on giving! I have had the worst food poisoning I have ever had in my entire life. ***GRAPHIC WARNING*** I have been hugging my toilet bowl for 2 days straight. My body turning any solids into a liquid in 30 minutes. I am an upside down human fountain. This may be gross or humorous, but I am not exaggerating. Please dine here at your own risk, they expect you to handle raw food with the same tongs that you remove the cooked food with. I will not be returning and will make it my personal goal to stop anyone I know from experiencing what I have been calling the Great Brown Flood.
