Bar seems to be the main focus, so unless you like waiting, forgo a table; a barstool is the place to sit. Combo plates make it easy to order, with appetizer add-ons $4 each. Not bad at dinnertime. General Gao's Wings: Well coated in a sweet and zippy sauce that's much less cloyingly sweet than typical, but the deep flavor from the wings themselves came through. Screaming of five spice and likely a brine of some sort. Crisp and tender. Egg Roll: In a word, elite. Crunchy outside and inside, with droopy moist celery, cabbage, and pork. Didn't even need the duck sauce it was so moist. Lobster Sauce: Nice dark color and velvety tender, but good, not great, lacking a little on flavor. Scallion garnish a nice touch. Pork Fried Rice: Medium color, medium flavor. Missing the oomph in an old school fried rice. Chicken Fingers: Not the meatiest, but piping hot, golden brown, crisp throughout (none of that raw stuff that's so common) without being overcooked, and pleasant flavor to the batter. Sweet and Sour sauce on the side was superb, with tart really coming on strong and balancing the sweet. No cherries, but plenty of pineapple and a couple different colors of peppers. Some near misses and some big hits, with plenty of upside, so I'm giving 4 stars even though closer to a 3.5. I'm sure there are a few more elite items to be lurking in that menu. 2025 update: Last time I got takeout, it was pretty expensive, one of the reasons why I haven't gone in a while, I decide to splurge a little and get some extra food and the containers have shrunken too! The rice tasted a bit weird for being peter woo's (because even a year ago, i would've told you they had the best rice) more like generic fried rice. I was a bit upset because I ended up spending nearly $50 for half of what I used to get, servings were normal ish, I believe they went down to 3 chicken fingers instead of 4? Overall, I just don't really know if I can come here again because theres places that open earlier, have cheaper menus / even a lunch menu, give you a good experience, etc. read more

I don't know why some people rave about this place there are much better Chinese restaurants in the area. The lady who answers the phone is not the nicest and to be very honest their budget meals make no sense especially if there's a certain meat within that meal that can't be substituted for say two chicken wings. The rice was hard and tasted like it was leftover definitely wasn't fresh . The wonton soup needed copious amounts of salt to have any flavor whatsoever . The boneless ribs were hard & tough to chew. I would first like to say that I find it highly disturbing that when I ordered Asian cuisine from this restaurant that neither the person answering the phone or my delivery driver was actually of Asian decent. I find it to be a harmful form of cultural appropriation and makes the experience feel inauthentic and rather shallow. Going on almost 20 years I've been frequenting PW's. I've become a part of the Woo family of regulars, staff and owner. It's my pleasure to consider Peter, Betty, Gene and Tony great friends of mine. But that doesn't change the fact that their food is fantastic. A recently added item that is a must are spicy chicken fingers. OMG that are ridiculously delicious! Me: Hi, does your szechuan bean curd have any meat or seafood? Guy: Pshhhh, no. Me: Ok, great. I will have an order of szechuan bean curd and an order of scallion pancakes. The dude wasn't very pleasant for the remainder of this conversation, but I put the order in and waited. The guy arrived, it cost about $5 more than it should have, the guy left. I brought the bag into the kitchen. I opened up the bean curd container. I thought to myself, "Wow, that looks remarkably like a crapload of meat all over the top of this container. Maybe it's crumbled tofu. I'll pick it up in touch it." Nope, not squishy. Definitely meat. I called Peter Woo. Me: Hi, I just got an order delivered and there's meat all over my szechuan bean curd. Guy: Yeah, it comes with meat. Me: But I don't eat meat, and I specifically asked if it had any meat or seafood and I was told it didn't. Guy: Well you have to tell us if you don't want meat. Me: I did. Guy: (to kitchen) HEY! DID SHE SAY NO MEAT!!?? Kitchen: Yes. Guy: ARGGGG! We will send you another order. Thirty minutes later, I got the bean curd with no meat.
