Love it. I found about this cafe from Yelp (duh, lol) and was dying to go here. It couldn't be anymore conveniently located, right outside the 45th train station (R train). I got nothing but enthusiasm to show for this place. Everything is on point. The chill vibe, the decor, the food, the coffee (omg, the mocha was orgasmic). Even the bathroom was immaculate. And modern. The staff is super friendly too. Oh, the background music is perfect too. Nice chill vibe as well, neo soul/r&b lounge jams. So glad this place exists. (It just opened two months ago). There is ample space for eating, sitting, lounging, doing work on your laptop, or just picking up a book to read ( there a few books to choose from in the book shelf in the front part of the cafe). I'm so happy that this spot opened up in my neighborhood. Top quality coffee and tea, delicious food and pastries. The owners and staff are so friendly and attentive- but in a relaxed and effortless way that makes you wanna turn Yafa into your second living room. Nicely decorated too, good energy. These people put care into what they're doing. There are vegetarian and vegan options and when I asked if they could modify some dishes to make them vegan for me and my husband they were so accommodating. Very thankful for that! I was looking for a space where I can get some work done and have a boost of caffeine to get me through this paper and I'm so glad I came across this gem! The atmosphere is so welcoming, no seriously - the energy is so warm in here!! The staff are soo friendly and make a slamming cup of coffee.. if you're hungry I recommend the Yafa Mac & Cheese.. heavy on the cheesiness soooooo freaking delicious! The aesthetic is very unique for what you're use to in sunset park, it's really just admirable to look at the details of decor, the tiles - absolutely gorgeous! Not your average coffee shop! A business that must be protected at all costs, Yafa Cafe offers first rate home cooked food at rock bottom prices. So far I've only had the lamb sandwich and the egg breakfast sandwich, but you can tell whoever is in the kitchen has a masterful understanding of how to prepare food. For the breakfast sandwich, the eggs are creamy, the cheese used is neither overbearing or greasy and the caramelized onions add a gentle accent to the entire package. This is a level of competency not found in some high end eateries. The Lamb Sandwich was equally impressive, and so substantial it required a knife and fork to eat it. I ordered delivery vía a third party app, which is a rare happening for me. I was not sure if Yafa had received the order. I called them to check and the person who answered the phone was super nice, assured me that my order had been received and was awaiting a driver. A really cute spot with really good food. The interior is so cute, I love the projector they have in the back, the tablescape makes the place look so cozy and homey. The fried chicken sandwich was great, the pickles were so fresh, the chicken super crispy and the bun was soft but held well. I also tried my friends lamb haneeth sandwich which was tender and flavorful. I got a warmed almond croissant and it was great as well. This place was out-rage-e-ous! We ordered the chicken sandwich with brussel sprout slaw, lamb stew, and hibiscus berry teas. First off, the chicken was so soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, it had just the right amount of spice without being over the top. I also couldn't ignore the zaatar chips, they were light and flavorful. Next, the lamb stew, it was fragrant, rich, and warming, the lamb was pungent, juicy, and melted in our mouths, it also paired well with the lovely stewed veggies and homemade bread. Last, but not least, was the iced tea, it was so fruity and light, it needed nothing. We will def be ordering from this place again, and again. read more

The place looks like it has very little seats but if you walk all the way back, there's more seats and bigger tables. It's a pretty good place to study and the workers there are very nice and polite. The fried chicken sandwich lunch is so amazing here. Could be the best FCS in NYC; seriously. The pickles and housemade slaw and sauce that accompany this massive, yummy sandwich are delicious. The whole menu is great. I have to move out of the neighborhood, and I hope they deliver to Bay Ridge. Kinda don't want to do this because this is my fave, somewhat still "secret" spot BUT the food here isn't short of PERFECTION and they are much deserving of this praise. Found long metal wire in my chicken wrap (2.5 inches long) which although could have literally killed me, had I of swallowed it, I tossed it to the side and ate the rest of my wrap (very carefully). Ordered again, maybe a month later, same wrap, found a shiny plastic wrapper mixed into the contents of the wrap, actually bit into it. Huge plastic wrapper, slowly pulled the remainder of it out of the wrap, plastic itself was almost half a foot in length. Now, unless the chef is blind/drunk/high, this would have been impossible to miss as he or she was prepping my order. Feel violated/grossed out. Death/lawsuit/shutdown waiting to happen. read more

I'm ecstatic that Yafa is open for dinner. Not only that, they've redone the interior and added a terrific dining room. I'm not a coffee drinker. As such, when everyone was raving about the new Yemeni coffee place, I let it pass me by. It was only after someone said they make good lemonade (orange blossom water lemonade, and it's delicious) and had a respectable kitchen menu that I gave it a try. Yeah, wow, this isn't a cafe, this is a fantastic little restaurant that happens to have a coffee program to match. From a delicious shakshuka to clever twists on classic NY egg sandwiches for breakfast to an outrageous chicken sandwich, falafel, and succulent roast lamb as lunch (and now dinner) offerings, Yafa's kitchen punches above its weight. A nice selection of pastries, ranging from breakfasty scones and croissants to baklava, round things out. As a professional chef myself, I could talk at length about how every dish is recognizably familiar while featuring an inventive twist. How fusion cuisine they deliver combines an astounding array of traditions into a single dish that simply *works*. The fried chicken sandwich starts with a classic American sandwich, takes it straight to Sunset Park with a chipotle plum sauce, the perfect fusion of the neighborhood's traditions, tops it with a tasty slaw, and then brings it to the near east with a touch of zatar.
