Ordered chicken samboosas, fried chicken sandwich and lamb stew (lunch). The samboosas are in a thin wrapper, crispy and you choose a sauce of your liking. The chicken sandwich is crispy and good portion! Loved the slaw and cucumbers inside. Lamb stew comes with a large portion of khbuz bread slices, I can barely finish it. This cafe restores my faith in NYC as a culinary oasis. Honestly 9/10 restaurants in NYC are at best mediocre. Yafa is the exception. Yafa's attention to detail, as well as a strong balance of simplicity combined with quality ingredients, results in a rich and flavorful experience you won't forget. The staff are attentive and service moves quickly even during brunch time rush. Everything you order is likely to be delicious but I can't say enough about the goat cheese, fig, mint, and pomegranate on sourdough toast! Words cannot describe how happy I was to find this urban oasis of a cafe tucked away in Sunset. I was on the hunt for a spot to get some work done before heading to Costco nearby to do some grocery shopping and was intrigued when I saw this Yemeni cafe on Yelp. I enter to find a spacious, brightly lit space filled with tables and decorated to invite customers to stay awhile. I ordered a brown sugar iced latte, made with their Signature Yemeni coffee brew overlaid with cardammon. It was bold and delicious. When I got up to use the restroom, I noticed there was a whole other back room with even more seating and a more peaceful vibe. I spent a few hours working before I got hungry and perused their menu. I could see that their Middle Eastern brunch items were popular but I went for their Bacon Egg and Cheese Samboosa bites. These were yummy pockets of lightly crisped dough perfect for study snacking. Staff were friendly and courteous throughout my visit here. I really enjoyed spending the day working here. I'm very tempted to return to buy their Yemeni coffee beans roasted in Brooklyn and their stylish merch. A must visit for anyone looking to try Yemeni coffee. read more

Try the Yemeni breakfast. Get a taste of the eggs with vegetables on their own, before adding in the foul and cheese. Actually, I don't know if these were supposed to be mixed together or if they're just supposed to go with the excellent bread. The berry hibiscus iced tea was also a fine addition for a hot summer night. Yafa has mastered Uber Eats infrastructure; the order was fast and meticulously packed, convenient for a Sunset Park picnic up the hill. read more

I came here on a Sunday (9/13) with a fellow yelper Mei C. for Brunch. It was takeout with limited outdoor seating on the sidewalk (close to the R train subway entrance). You place your order inside at the counter and pay, and then they would bring out the food to your table. We grabbed lots of napkins so we could wipe down the table and chairs before we sat down. I noticed their menu had limited breakfast offering which differ from the menu posted on yelp. I was looking forward to the Shakshuka but that was removed from their menu =( We ordered: Mei- Iced Mocha drink AND Avocado toast with arugula and fresh sliced tomatoes on top (from the breakfast section). I- Yafa Fried Chicken sandwich from the lunch section (less healthier option) with a cup of water. The avocado toast looked delish with a thick layer of avocado. Her toast looked really crispy (toasted well) with a nice crunch sound when she took a bite. Looked very healthy and refreshing (because of the tomatoes). My fried chicken sandwich (on a brioche bun) was big and pretty good but not as healthy as her meal. I picked it because it had a brussel sprout coleslaw (which is different from normal coleslaw) and I was interested in their homemade plum chipotle sauce and homemade potato chips. I got the lab sandwich and it was so delicious, the meat was tender, the sauce was spicy and the bread was beautifully buttered and toasted. The zaatar chips had great seasoning on them and the waffle fries were also super crispy. We got the chicken samboosas and they were delicious as well. When you love fried chicken as much as I do, then you've heard multiple people talk up Yafa Cafe's fried chicken sandwich. And boy does it deliver. Giant hunks of super crispy chicken, spicy sauce, fluffy brioche bun. So good! I had to find a place to set up shop in between doctor's appointments and ended up at their parklette. I was there long enough to also have a Yemeni pourover and and everything-bagel-seasoned croissant with cream cheese inside. The croissant was definitely unique (and delicious). The coffee was strong, and at $7, you could really see how much care went into making it. It's definitely not a grab-and-go kind of thing. Before I left, I got the aforementioned chicken sandwich was well as a lamb haneeth sandwich. That one was good too, but so, so messy. Big hunks of lamb, a tad on the drier side but still good. We usually come to this part of town for Chinese food. Imagine our surprise when this inviting and modern space popped up on the Brooklyn Eater list. Sure, go for the Yemeni coffee which is interesting and worth the price of admission. But if you really want to know why this place is at the top of my own personal restaurant list, go no further than the truly gourmet chicken sandwich AND even more gourmet lamb sandwich. You may have noticed through my other thousand reviews, I love a good sandwich. You may have also noticed that I'm of the opinion that most restaurants that don't specialize in making sandwiches (and even some that do) routinely botch the genre. It's always very disappointing. But fear not! My only dilemma, which I debated fiercely with my dining companion, was which sandwich was more perfect. I'd probably go with the lamb sandwich because it's a more unique offering, and this one is certainly the best I've ever had (but I also haven't had many). I could also make an argument for the chicken sandwich, which, while STILL is the best I've ever had, is way more common. In any case, you can't lose. We're going to have to make the trek out to this spot early and often, and you probably should too. read more

This review was just for the Orange Blossom Lemonade. I think I was expecting more of it based on the name but it didn't exceed what it sounds. With a hinge of orange floral taste in the otherwise basic lemonade, I can't say much more. For its price ($3.27 with tax) it did a good job of quenching my thirst in the hot weather. It was refreshing cold drink but don't see myself getting it again. What I would get if I had the chance was the fried chicken burger that's being raved in the other reviews. Though I wouldn't want to dine here in the summer because they only have outdoor seating. read more

So far I've tried the fried chicken sandwich and the lamb haneeth sandwich. The flavor on the chicken sandwich was absolutely delicious and became increasingly addictive with each bite. I ordered delivery so it arrived warm, but it would've been even tastier at a hotter temperature. I also would've liked less chicken in my sandwich so maybe offer single vs double filets of chicken in the sandwiches. The side salad was super fresh, flavorful, and well-portioned and I love that they offer salads as sides. The lamb haneeth sandwich had me drooling. The meat was juicy, tender, and flavorful. I also ordered it delivery so when it arrived, the bottom slice of bread was a bit soggy. If they can figure out a way to prevent that issue with deliveries, it would be perfect. Maybe offer the option to deliver it deconstructed and have the customer assemble the sandwich on arrival. Side salad was excellent. Their iced drinks are also refreshing and yummy. My first time at Yafa Cafe had me wondering how fast I could get back there. Everything about my experience was memorable: a welcoming ambiance, friendly staff members who took the time to explain coffee offerings, sockets in close proximity to keep my devices charged up, the ability to order and pay for my meal while working and receiving it at my seat(!), memorable music, and for the icing on the cake, delicious food and coffee beverages. The falafel wrap was both crunchy with melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness, with fries that were expertly cooked--crunchy on the outside with a perfect texture on the inside. Stopped by here between interviews. SO glad I did! Service was excellent. Very helpful and kind at the register. They let me have an open tab since I was going to be there for a couple of hours. Really nice spots in the front - didn't realize they had all this space in the back though! And WiFi! I got the fried chicken sandwich which was delightful. Later I got the Yafai coffee (an americano) which tasted just like tea! I love tea but drink coffee for the extra caffeine, so this was the perfect blend! I also love the ambiance. I love how they have decor representing different middle eastern countries and not just one. I loved seeing a couple of Persian items in there. I loved the vibe with the music - modern but still made me feel like I was back in the Middle East. Can you tell how much I enjoyed it by the number of times I said love? Super happy we tried this place. They've been around for a while and I have always wanted to try. It looks like a small cafe when you walk in but they have more tables in the back as you continue in. They are an order and sit down establishment where they'll bring you your food, some tables also have have a qr code that you can order from I believe. We ordered a latte, sparkling berry lemonade, shakshuka, halloumi sticks, and a falafel wrap. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. The shakshuka is on the thinner side with a strong pepper flavor, definitely paired well with the grilled garlic sourdough that it came with. The falafel was great, wasn't too dry. The fries that came with the wrap were crispy and seasoned nicely. Loved the halloumi sticks/fries which I don't see on many menus. The workers were friendly and patient from beginning to end. The place itself was clean and had a variety of foods on the menu. My latte was made perfectly, strong espresso flavor, good temperature. The berry lemonade was refreshing. Met fellow Yelper Sherry W. for weekend brunch at this cozy cafe spot in Sunset Park. Some tables and chairs setup for outdoor dining on the side street. Placed our orders inside the shop and staff brings the food out to us. I got the Avocado toast with Arugula and fresh sliced tomatoes on top. Toast tasted really good with the right amount of buttery crisp bite after bite, not to mention the healthy aspect of it. My beverage of choice was the Iced Mocha, which was decent. Nice little charming place in Sunset park. I am glad I gave this place a shot after checking out so many positive Yelp reviews. Due to the Covid pandemic the tables inside are unavailable but they have 4-5 outdoor seatings. I ordered orange blossom lemonade and a chicken sandwich to take out at the counter. The drink was quite subtle and I loved it. The note of the orange blossom is amazingly well balanced with the lemonade. It's more a tea than a lemonade, a mix of only good things of both. Result is so refreshing. Chicken sandwich was packed in a nice black paper box, not in that white styrofoam box. When I opened it in Sunset park about 10mins later, the sandwich was still warm and pretty good: batter crunch, chicken juicy, coleslaw still fresh, and brioche bun still fluffy. Everything was perfect and I am glad the portion is decent too. Not that tiny in between a slider and a burger kinda that they serve in many other hip places. I wondered how much crazily better it could've been if I was served at the table. I will give this place two thumbs up with thousand thanks for this wonderful sandwich at humble $10. This place is the gem of Sunset park. Oh. Just to add one thing, there's a deli with same name at the corner of the same street, so don't get confused. This is a must visit. Businesses like Yafa Cafe are what makes NYC a special place to live. The staff here serves up an equal filling of hospitality and deliciousness. I've never been to a place like Yafa where the regulars express their delight when they overhear that you ordered their favorite things on the menu and then tell you that you did a great job, just makes you feel like a good person. Regardless of price, it's rare to find an establishment where you can get great specialty coffee and great food, but this is where it's at, my yelpers. We are sooo spoiled with great restaurants here in Sunset Park -- now even more so after these guys opened their doors. Yafa is (rightfully) getting a ton of buzz about their Yemeni coffee (eek -- no pun intended but there it is) but the food menu should not be overlooked. Our shakshuka and fried chicken sandwich were a perfect brunch on a recent cold and rainy morning and my boyfriend had multiple rounds of orange blossom lemonade. I visit here all the time with my toddler and we love every moment we spend here. He can be a little curious and mischievous, and everyone is so kind to him.
