    Grilled pork fresh rolls
    Samantha C.

This new Vietnamese cuisine restaurant opened up not too long ago and we've finally got the chance to try it. Came here on a Wednesday evening around 7:30pm and it wasn't too busy. As it got later, it did get more full though. The interior has aesthetic decor and there are about 6 booths that can fit 4 people as well as some other small tables. Since we were one of the first tables, service was really quick. We got our food within 10 minutes. We ordered the fresh spring rolls with grilled pork, the bun bo hue house special vermicelli. The owner was super nice to us and let us try the iced coffee, which was really good. Probably our favourite of the meal! The bun bo hue came with blood curd, vietnamese ham, rare beef and another kind of meat (not sure). It was good, but we wish it was spicier! Maybe it's to accommodate people's spice levels, so we'll ask if we can get some more spice next time. The special vermicelli came with grilled pork, grilled chicken, spring roll and sausage. The flavour was also good, but more on the mild side. Both dishes were average size and the price was pretty average as well. They take credit card and cash. Not sure about debit. If you pay cash, you might get a discount. Happy we have a new Vietnamese place in this area! We like it better than some others we've tried around here.

I recommend giving them a try if you are looking for some Canadian style Chinese food.

Picking Shanghai Noodles with Grilled Chicken, Mixed Green Vegetables and added on an appetizer Chicken Egg Roll. The Shanghai Noodles* were just right, perfectly chewy how they should be. The vegetables were crunchy, crispy zucchini, celery, cabbage, broccoli with onions. It was very tasty and very filling. Good value.

We all ordered one dish and the prices range from $18 - $28 depending on the protein. I tried the Pad garlic pepper beef $21. I was very surprised to find out steamed rice (extra $3) is not served with your entree. My wife ordered the Thai basil chicken and mother-in-law had the chicken green curry. Overall the food portion is decent and flavours are alright. The thai ice tea was good as well. In terms of dining experience, we had to follow up several times to get our take out order and containers. I know this restaurant recently opened about 2 months ago so there's room for improvement. In terms of larger groups of 6 people or more the menu indicates a mandatory gratuity of 18%. I am not a fan of the mandatory gratuity and should be left to the client. If you're looking for some Thai cuisine with good portions and depth of flavours, then this place might be for you. Some may find this place on the pricier side.

I had their Rou-Si Pork noodle soup, one of my favourites. It was delicious, with rich flavour. It hit the right spots and satisfied my craving. Jin's Mi-Fen hails from Hunan's Changde City in the northwest part of Hunan Province in China. The restaurant itself has a nice bright interior with plenty of seating. I was seated quickly and given the opportunity to ask the server if you have any questions about ingredients. The server recommended the most popular item on the menu which was the Signature Spicy Beef Double Up, 招牌双拼牛肉粉 , where it's a combination of 2 different kinds of beef, cooked 2 ways. M2. combined together with M3 on the menu. M2. 酱香牛肉粉 JIANGXIANG BEEF LOIN (STRIPLOIN) M3. 津市麻辣牛肉粉 - MALA SPICY BEEF JERKY (EYE ROUND) The server forgot to mention that this dish is recommended with soup on the side. She mentioned that the Signature Spicy Beef Double Up is spicy and said that, even when customers opt for a mild spice level, it does contain spices. She recommended to request no spice if you're unsure of spice preferences. Good advice. I like it hot and spicy, and in the end the cautious approach failed to deliver the requisite heat. I ordered 2 different soups using the table's QR Code sticker. M5. 番茄牛腩粉 - TOMATO BRAISED BEEF BRISKET M1. 招牌双拼牛肉粉 - SIGNATURE DOUBLE BEEF You get to choose the noodles and spice level ahead of time. For being the most popular MUST TRY choice among customers the Signature Spicy Beef Double Up wasn't my most popular choice. The broth was watery, salty and lacked spice. On the bright side, springy soft noodles and pickled vegetables were the MVPs, with the pickled vegetables adding a nice sour and crunchy texture. The Original beef brisket noodle tomato soup was a favourite! The sweet-tangy flavour of the tomato went well with the tender soft and chewy beef brisket. This one's a winner! 老配方牛骨牛肉真實熬湯 . They make their soup in house from an old-fashioned 400-year-old recipe which uses real beef bones, no MSG, and 24 herbs. When you are ready to pay the bill, there are a few steps to walk down to get to the bar area. I had a nice chat with the really friendly people who will cash you out. Glad to see this authentic Hunan style mi-fen noodle restaurant open in Durham!

Today was Tuesday, so we were good to go. The promo was $25 including 1 bowl of noodle, 1 bowl of clay pot rice with meat and 1 of snack dishes. We could choose them from the special menu. We chose the beef noodle soup, chicken & mushroom clay pot with soup, and the snack was the deep fried wonton. The wonton was great, so delicious and my little one loved it so much; the beef noodle soup was ok, but only a few pieces of beef and radish; the clay pot was the most I like, when I put the soy sauce in, the pot was boiling. That's so nice. That also caused the crackers at the bottom. That's really amazing. We also got a little bowl of the seaweed soup for the clay pot. So nice. This special deal was so good that enough for all of us. Next time, I would like to try other options.

The Lanzhou noodles had a great chewy texture and tasted super fresh. The claypot rice was warm, savory, and had that nice crispy bottom layer which made it extra satisfying. Portions are generous and the flavors feel very authentic and comforting -- like a home-cooked meal. It's a great budget-friendly option in Markham, especially if you're dining with a friend or partner. Definitely a hidden gem for cheap eats. Would recommend if you're craving noodles and claypot rice without spending too much!

We do have an allergy and requested no celery, there was in fact celery in the dishes we discussed accommodating the allergy with, we also asked for vegetarian Singapore noodles, and there was meat. We found the portions and price very generous, we were even given a free serving of meat for the size of the order, everything was fresh but most of the dishes we got were in a crazy amount of sauce where you wouldn't really expect any sauce or a very little like the Thai basil stir fried veggies and tofu, it was drenched in a big puddle of sauce.

We were quite impressed with the food here...it's actually very authentic northern style Chinese food. If you are not familiar with the food in this region, I can see why some people had negative comments. My advice to you if you are not familiar with some of their menu items, order the fried rice/noodles and fried dumplings and not items like chicken with ginger & scallion sauce. The latter dish is actually a popular Chinese chicken dish that is not commonly offered in Chinese westernized restaurants. I did see a photo of this dish on google soaking in oil which doesn't look too appealing so I would request for the ginger onion oil sauce on the side (maybe it's prepared in Northern style?). I will definitely try it on my next visit. We got the shrimp fried rice and beef brisket udon in beef bone soup. Both dishes were good and I was surprised that there were quite a few large shrimps in the rice. The soup base was a bit bland but the beef brisket was tender and flavourful. Highly recommend this dish if you are looking for comfort food. Make sure you ask for their chilli sauce which is great for the beef brisket! My favourite dish was #519 fried tofu...this was perfectly done and I requested the sauce to be on the side. The best way to eat fried tofu is to dip the hot crispy tofu with a bit of the sauce! The pan fried dumplings were only okay but they did serve it well with vinegar sauce! I will definitely be coming back on my visits to MAC U.
