Delicious century egg with silken tofu in soy vinaigrette
    Catherine S.

I have been dying to try out this joint ever since it opened on a sleepy stretch of Harwood where there are surprisingly abundant choices of oddly placed restaurants. I finally got to try it out with my husband for a weekday lunch and it was amazing! The restaurant is clean and spacious. The servers are efficient and knowledgeable. We ordered 2 bowls of noodles and a side of demon eggs and the food came out super quickly. We loved that the soup was served piping hot! The beef in the double beef Signature could have been a bit more tender but other than that, the flavours were complex yet well balanced with a decent kick from the chilies to compliment the soup. We loved the authenticity of these noodle soups as Asian specialty restaurants are still a rarity in Durham region. The demon egg was also delicious with umami packed century egg chunks sitting atop a decent mound of silky tofu, bathed in lip smacking black vinaigrette. We'll be ordering this again! Our first experience was so great, I had to come back with friends and tried out the vegetarian oyster mushroom mi fen which was also great. I certainly hope JMF will stay around for years to come as it is such a welcomed addition to the Durham food scene!

So happy to have an authentic Chinese noodle place in Durham! Most of the mains are beef centric, but as I'm allergic to beef, there were pork and mushroom bowls to choose from. The noodles was a good tender chewiness, and the broth was delicious! Aside from the noods, the sides were also quite delicious, my favourite being the Demon (century) Egg on Tofu and Pork Belly Croissant Sandwich! We were so impressed, we had my inlaws join us from North York on our next visit. They added rice options (with the same toppings) and a delicious red bean and rice spring roll. It was so good, I didn't want to share!! The parking lot is quite generous for the number of shops in the small plaza. Inside the restaurant is spacious, and tables ranging from 2 seats to 6, and looks easy to rearrange for larger parties. Service was prompt and friendly, and the food comes out quick! Order via qr code on the table, which has the latest menu additions.

Super awesome to see a noodle place like this one in Ajax. Found this gem through Yelp so I had to check it out. The interior is super cute and I had the veggie noodle soup which was awesome. The staff is also super nice. Definitely coming back here to try the other menu items :)

This restaurant has a small hot table and they also make noodle soup called "Lomi". There's a small dining area good for maybe 10 people max. We ordered 2 beef pares noodles (large) $14.99 and one combo meal 2 $12.99 with a choice of 2 meat (pork or chicken), steamed rice and bottled water. Portion wise, the combo meal was a little bit small but understandable for businesses trying to navigate through tough times. We got the bicol Express and another pork dish with shrimp paste. The pork used in these dishes were very fatty so unfortunately, most of the meat was not edible. A little more attention to the meat selection will go a long way for patrons to enjoy their hot table food. The highlight was the beef pares noodles soup. Took some time for them to prepare it, but well worth the wait. The broth was satisfying, and noodles cooked extra soft for my mother-in-law. The beef brisket was tender and seasoned well. Overall, it was a nice first experience at this local restaurant . I will visit again soon when craving some chicken Lomi or beef pares. The owner and staff were very friendly and treated you like family. Well done.

My friend had the King of Kings as our server said this is one of their most popular choices. I opted for the Spicy Charsu. Now I understand some people can't handle heat but I live off of Purple Tongue hot sauce which is made with some pretty hot peppers. I asked for a level one and the lady explained that the spice level on the Charsu was a whole series of levels higher than the King of Kings. I get that . Give me the heat. Anywho, she was comfortable with giving me 0.5 but said I could make it hotter if need be. Ok, better to start smaller I guess. They put some sauce on the side which I added to my bowl. Personally I found the 0.5 a nice tingle; it was good. Made my nose run. But I'm totally getting the level 1 next time. My friend however tried a sip of my broth, spit it out and said poison poison because of the heat Mind you, his King of Kings was a level 1. Which to me tasted creamy and delicious. I love a good pork bone soup and I opted for the Spicy Charsu because of the pork bone base. I loved the broth. It was perfection. The noodles were so fresh . The portion size was enormous. I kept eating and more noodles appeared. The Charsu had an amazing flavor to it . Smoky and delicious . My friend is a larger man and even he commented on the portion size saying he would be ok with a smaller size as he was so full. Good portions for your money. We also had the Gyoza and the TakoYaki. The TakoYaki was soft and loaded with the delicious sauce. The Gyoza were enormous. We were both 100% satisfied with our visit and will be back for sure.

The concerned server told me that it may be painful, but being the chili head that I am, I gladly took on the challenge. It was a larger bowl than their regular size and my ramen came topped with lots of corn, some mushrooms, bean sprouts and 6 large pieces of chasu. The broth was magma red, but it was not as spicy as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, it was spicy but not to the point where it would warrant a warning. The spicy broth tasted like a mix of Buldak sauce and Capsaicin, but didn't have much depth. I finished my ramen, broth and all and enjoyed most of the experience. The least favorite was the chasu and the egg as chasu did not taste fresh, and I could not taste the char on them at all. The egg was over-cooked and under marinated which was disappointing. It's still one of the few ramen options in Durham but can't say it's comparable to the other Kenzo locations.

I preferred the seaweed, which was pretty delicious actually. We also ordered the beef brisket noodle soup, a stir fry noodle dish with pork, and buns. The soup was delicious - great flavor, noodles were amazing as expected. The brisket was tasty but difficult to eat because you had to chew for a long long time, long enough to swallow, if that makes sense. I just let my husband eat all of the beef after my one bite. The pork dish was good too but the flavors didn't wow me. Maybe I should have ordered something spicier - although adding the chili spice helped a lot. The soup buns (5 buns/order) were amazing - super hot (temperature wise) and very tasty. We were almost too full to finish them. All ingredients seemed super fresh. Always cool to see the noodles being made - just be prepared for loud noises, especially if you have your back turned away from the counter. I guess other hand pulled noodle places I've been to there's some sort of separation or glassed in area to see them being pulled, but when the dough gets slammed onto the counter it's quite loud. I would bet each batch has at least 3 slams? I'm sure it's to get the air pockets out and is necessary - I just wonder if there's a sound barrier type option or maybe some funny sign warning or heads up from the waitstaff? We can't wait to try something else from Noodle Me!

Let's get in to ... first, off currently Aug 2019, there is construction on the roads around the strip that Noodle Me is within, so it took us a while just to get in to the parking lot. Then we noticed there isn't a whole lot of parking. Maybe some across the street. But keep that in mind if you are driving over. Once we got in, the place is a nice small place. Does have lots of sitting, but slightly packed to fill more people. The staff was very friendly and the menu had nice photos for some of their meals to entice the new comers. So myself, my wife and my sister in law went in new. Ordered the wonton soup, combo lo-mein and their steam buns (thought they were dumplings). - The Wonton soup brother was very good. Noodles, not really anything to overly rave about and wontons were plenty. So an overall good dish. - The Combo Lo-Mein, was quite good. Enjoyed the noodles and a good variety of meat and vegetables. The odd part, wasn't exactly mixed up. Noodles on one side, veggies on a another side and meat. A bit of work to mix it all. So that assumes that all of it was not fully cooked together, which I feel helps to get more of the flavour across all of the ingredients, but to each their own. - and the Steam Buns, those were quite good. The dough was pretty thick for the small appetizers But a good overall. I will say the overall flavour is good and wouldn't hesitate to visit again if I'm in the area, but wouldn't drive across the city for it.

We do have an allergy and requested no celery, there was in fact celery in the dishes we discussed accommodating the allergy with, we also asked for vegetarian Singapore noodles, and there was meat. Albeit a lot of meat for what it's worth, but when you're a vegetarian that ain't really a selling point. Picking it all out was a nightmare. We found the portions and price very generous, we were even given a free serving of meat for the size of the order, everything was fresh but most of the dishes we got were in a crazy amount of sauce where you wouldn't really expect any sauce or a very little like the Thai basil stir fried veggies and tofu, it was drenched in a big puddle of sauce.
