    Aiko I.

This place is apparently new in the neighborhood but is rapidly gaining a good reputation from the locals. I ordered (through Ubereats) the following items: - Malaysian Curry - Fried Chicken Wings - Basil Seafood I loved the wings. The crispy coating sealed the juices in so perfectly. It requires special skills. The flavor on the chicken itself was moderate, but the wings came with a sweet & sour sauce so you can control the taste as you like. Malaysian Curry (Chicken) was tasty. To be honest, I do not know what Malaysian Curry is supposed to be like. (We ordered this as our daughter recently visited Malaysia, and I just wanted to try this :) The curry was hearty with eggplants, chicken breast pieces, and other vegetables They were generously diced. It tastes sweet and spicy - sweet comes first, and the spice/hot sensation kicks in afterward. I liked the generous use of fresh coriander leaves. I was a bit disappointed that it did not come with rice. I somehow expected that it would come with rice, but looks like I have to order it separately. Basil seafood was good, too. The shrimp was cooked plumpy and juicy, and there were a lot of large pieces of the squids which were tender. But although the menu said "Shrimp, Squids and Scallops", there were no scallops. Instead, I found mussels and imitation crab pieces. The mussels were fairly big and perfectly cooked, but the imitation crab was let down. I know that the scallop price is high - but I expect fresh seafood (more mussels?) rather than using a processed product to be substituted for the scallops. BUT, from the way the wings, shrimp, and squids were cooked, I felt that this place definitely has a great cook. I look forward to trying their food again!!!!

Good things come to those who wait. The food is prepared fresh and you can definitely tell it's made with love and care. Authentic Thai cuisine right in Whitby. You just have to have patience and trust me, it's worth it. I've tried a number of their dishes. I've dined in and did take out a few times. It's a small place so keep that in mind if you plan to dine in especially on the wknd.

The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable, and when we moved to our table our server was also great. Cocktails were fabulous and the ambiance of the place is very nice. My wife ordered this vegetarian squash dish and she loved it. I ordered the steak and the cook was perfect but I found the sauce overpowering. It's personal preference, I like my steak with just salt and pepper without sauce. My fault for not reading the menu correctly. The sides of purée and veggies were great. Overall KB hits it out of the ballpark and is so much better than the chain upscale eateries.

Every dish I had was very good. For this meal I ordered something different, the shrimp stuffed catfish. Never had catfish so this dish was calling me. The sauce was very tasty and had a nice kick of heat to finish. Catfish was good and the shrimp stuffing was more like a meat ball texture and not really whole shrimp like I thought. Service was very good. Our waitress was chatty and was joking around with us which was fun. Ambiance is more on the rustic side almost had a saloon feel, partly because of the old building but it was quaint. There was plenty of free parking in the rear which was convenient. All in KB is a good option if you are looking for an above average restaurant in the east end.

Captain's Boil, the formulaic chain would be the floor and the one I really enjoyed, Lobster Boil Seafood House, in North York would be the ceiling. What I'm about to say about Sea Salt would definitely leave their management a bit "salty". Unequivocally, Sea Salt sits in the deep basement of the pecking order. Sea Salt's standing was easily determined after my first spoonful of the seafood broil. The sauce was their downfall as they went overboard with the of garlic and not to mention they burnt the garlic. As the Cajun sauce is the soul of a seafood boil, their sauce literally ruined the entire dish and experience. The combo we ordered came with fried calamari and shrimp and fries. The fried calamari and shrimp lacked a bit of "salt", which is rather ironic considering the restaurant's name and neither of the sauce complimented (sweet chilli and ranch) the calamari well. The fries were what you expected it to be. But a little bit too much sauce. The one thing that I liked was you could choose to have the Turkish Salaam Cola as part of your combo drink choice. I didn't think it was all that different from regular cola, but it was nice to try. Service is quite slow here and not super attentive. We had to flag them down various times to get things that should have been provided. We weren't given enough plates to start and we had to request for bibs and disposable gloves. These are pretty standard things at other boil places. In general, the appetizers were better than the seafood boil. The portion of the combo was pretty good so we packed some of it to go. But to put things into perspective, the following day I reheated the food for lunch, and my two kids didn't even touch it (with one of them who had experienced Lobster Boil Seafood house). That tells you something!

You go girls I love it. Came here for dinner and had a hard time choosing what to order as there are so many good options on the menu. Really wanted the calamari & shrimp appetizer but opted in for the shrimp bucket and the fish and chips. I also got a coconut mango drink which was super refreshing and delicious. I thought the fish tacos had a kick of spice added but they were still good. The fries were crispy, which I loved but the highlight for me has to be the shrimp. I loveeeeed the sea salt sauce. Though I usually don't like corn, I loved this one and enjoyed the meal. Would come back here for more for sure!

On the most recent trip I really enjoyed the country fried steak. While it is heavy, it is perfectly fried and topped with a savoury and creamy white gravy. The fries on the side were cooked absolutely perfectly. The coleslaw was tangy and balanced. The Mac n Cheese was so creamy, with a hint of spice and topped with breadcrumbs to create a mix of flavours. This is already on top of the many other tasty dishes such as the pork shoulder and smoked chicken wings which I highly recommend. Butchie's is a BBQ staple for Durham region. No ribs or brisket, so I'm not sure if they really ever have that sort of bbq food available. The hush puppies were nice. I liked the crunchy/ crispy exterior and the soft, cake like interior. It was a savoury item I've never had before and definitely can understand why it's popular. I also like the sauces they served with these. Smoked chicken wings were amazing. Chicken had a nice salty, herby rub it was tossed in. It was like all dressed or bbq chip seasoning on top of the chicken which was a bit addicting. Our chicken was a bit over cooked and slightly dry, but it was still great. My partner had the country fried steak. I was going to warn him it probably wasn't his cup of tea but he never tried so there you have it. It was a fried thin steak with some gravy sauce over top. I don't know if that's how it's suppose to taste to be honest so I don't want to really judge it. I personally wouldn't order it. Nevermind if it's how it should taste, I just didn't love the soggy feel to it. The steak was super dry and over cooked. I loved the drink options. They carry a sparking tea made locally and I know they've tried to partner with local artisan drinks. They make milkshake the real way with real kawartha dairy ice cream, which is amazing. I love that they have real Kawartha Dairy ice cream too. The service is 10/10. People are incredibly friendly! The food took a while to come out the kitchen so definitely not an option for rushed dinners, but atleast it's fresh. Personally, I want to support them, but I think it's not my kind of food. I hope they continue to be in business though and spread their good spirits and fun. I'll definitely swing by for ice cream once in a while.

Service was still very attentive during this time. Our appetizers included: complimentary bread, escargot and shrimp, cajun calamari, and a large ceasar salad Our drinks: coffee martini, cosmopolitan, and lychee martini Our mains: trout and scallops, pickerel and shrimp, and seafood di mare The appetizers were great, and the large salad was enough to feed 3 people (could have fed a 4th as we had leftovers). The star in this bunch was really the escargot and shrimp. It came with a buttery sauce that was good with the complimentary bread. The oysters were also fresh and came with salsa and horse radish topping to choose from. The calamari, while good, was overshadowed by the others. It was meant to have a cajun taste, but I did not get that flavouring coming through, but it was still a good app regardless. For the drinks, the lychee martini seemed to be a favourite given the amount of alcohol while the cosmo seemed light on it. So if you're looking for a martini with a fruity kick, I'd recommend going to the lychee martini. The coffee one tasted more like coffee, but it may have been masking the amount of alcohol based on its strong flavor. For the mains, all three were excellent. The seafood di mare is very decadent and heavy. After eating so many appetizers, I barely had any bites, but it did make for some great leftovers.

Still the same quality. Tender calamari, pickled sliced hot pepper, cucumber pickles - all coated by super thin-crisp butter. I will order this every time I am here for sure. #2 We ordered this "medium rare". I did not expect much as our last experience with their burger was not good. HOWEVER this one was very good. We ended up ordering the Mariner seafood boil with garlic and herb sauce and the steak and shrimp special. For appetizer we tried the crabby stuffed mushrooms. All the food was scrumptious and we were given bibs and gloves to keep us from making a mess with the seafood boil. The Mariners boil is good for 2 people. Parking seemed limited at first, but there's more available in the back. Just a tip: be careful not to miss the entrance, since exiting is a one-way street and re-entering can be tricky. We arrived around 6:45 pm and saw a small line with two groups ahead, but the place is much bigger than it looks from the outside and we were seated quickly in a comfortable booth for four. The pub was clean, and I was especially surprised at how spacious and tidy the washrooms were--not what I usually expect from a pub, which tend to feel older and worn. The menu is huge, and TVs are everywhere--even in our booth. Between us, we tried a good range of dishes: 1. Caprese Salad with Steak - nicely balanced with pesto, though the steak was a little dry. 2. Fish and Chips - incredible portion for $18! Crispy, perfectly cooked fish with fries, coleslaw, and even a Caesar salad. The fries were well-seasoned (no ketchup needed), coleslaw was enjoyable despite me usually not liking it, and the Caesar was delicious. 3. Mexican Salad - flavorful, fresh, and generous in portion. 4. Tuesday Wing Special - wings were $0.90 each, so I ordered 15 with a Coke Zero. The garlic Parmesan was disappointing--dry and lacking flavor--but the Buffalo ranch wings were tender and spot-on. Service was friendly, though our waitress could have been more proactive with drink and water refills. Overall, I was impressed. Clean space, huge portions, good value, and a welcoming pub atmosphere. Definitely a solid stop if you're in the area.
