My husband and I got takeout from Saigon Boys and it was fantastic! I got the #28 House Special Vermicelli ($11.95) and my husband got the #44b Chicken and Shrimp Fried Rice ($12.95). My vermicelli was grilled pork, shrimp, chicken, and a spring roll, over a bed of vermicelli with julienned cucumbers, carrots, daikon radish, and shredded iceberg lettuce. There's usually bean sprouts, but I asked them to omit those. It also usually comes with fish sauce, but I asked them to substitute peanut sauce instead and they gladly obliged. The pork was so flavourful and actually lean. I was impressed and really enjoyed it. The shrimp were good too, but I only got 2 of them. Wish I got more, lol. The chicken was flavourful too, but it was dark meat, which I don't like as much as white meat. The spring roll was good, but a bit soft and soggy (probably because we got takeout and it was sitting in the container for a while). The vermicelli was nicely cooked. Not too mushy. The vegetables were fresh and tasty (the radish is pickled). The peanut sauce was excellent. The hot sauce was really hot, so I only used a smidge. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. My husband liked his meal too (although I personally would classify his dish as a side dish that you would eat with a meat or vegetable dish like with General Tao Chicken, or Stir-fried vegetables but he had it as his main and he liked it). It has lots of little shrimp and diced chicken. It also had that frozen mixed vegetables medley, you know the one with carrots, peas, corn and green beans. I had a bit and found it a little on the salty side for my tastes, but it was still good. I called our order in and then went to pick it up. The person on the phone was really nice and was careful to repeat my order back to me, since I had some special requests. She said it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. We arrived after 25 minutes and it was ready. Service was courteous. This place was really busy with takeout and food delivery services orders. There were a few people dining in as well. I can see why they are popular. Good food and good prices. The restaurant is in a strip mall. There's free parking. read more

After visiting my friend at the hospital, I was hungry and needed a bite to each. It was 4 pm. I need nourishment. I needed lunch! I did a search and found Saigon Boys. I had had Vietnamese food at one of my favourite restaurants in the GTA the day before. I took a chance and had pho again. I walked in. There was a sign to wait to be seated. A woman promptly seated me at a small table for two. I wanted to sit on the opposite side facing the parking lot, but there were two stools close together behind the chair. I knew that it wouldn't be roomy for me. Instead, I got the view of the hallway that goes to another section of the restaurant. It wasn't exactly buzzing with business at this hour. There were plenty of open tables. I guess it's the norm to seat a single person here. I got menus. I liked that there are vegetarian options. My friend would be pleased. I started off with fried spring rolls that have pork in them. I also ordered my usual, which is the rare beef and beef ball pho. These days, I can do a large because I love it so much. Within a few minutes of placing my order, the spring rolls came to my table. Part of me wondered if they flash-fry already fried ones or if they are simply that fast. It was impressive. I found the spring rolls to be more doughy for my liking. The filling was flavourful, heightened by dipping each roll in the sweet chili dipping sauce. There were hot temperature-wise. A few minutes after that, my large bowl of pho came. Yay! I will say that my favourite restaurant for pho in Mississauga has the most fragrant broth I have ever had. In comparison, the broth here wasn't anything special. What I didn't like was the strong taste of ground pepper. It's not normal for me to taste ground pepper in the broth. It was odd. The noodles were perfect. The rare beef was tough at times. I was disappointed in the quality of the beef balls. There were some tough, indigestible bits in at least four of them. I had to toss them aside. The green onions were also chopped up pretty coarse, which didn't make my experience all that great. Although the lime, bean sprouts, and mint were fresh, I wanted more. It is the downside of being spoiled from being at a great pho place the day before. I will say that portions at Saigon Boys are generous. It's a good place for your pho fix in Peterborough. However, I had had better. Staff here are efficient. I paid at the counter using a credit card. All went well. Many folks did takeout while I was chowing down. A couple of people ordered the tom yum noodle soup. Perhaps I should give it a try next time and see how that goes. (422) read more

Saigon Boys is one of the food gems of Peterborough. It is nothing special to look at but the food is excellent. Great quality, good portions and a good price. Everyone I've introduced to this place has really liked it. They do take out which is a great option should you find the place too busy. Their website is good for looking up menu details. I have found it to be a bit busy during the week at lunch due to people that work in the area going there for lunch. There have been a couple of times I've gone at lunch and there wasn't a table free! I hope they stay around for a long time because it's a great place to have in Peterborough. read more

I was meaning to order from this location for a while now, and let me tell you I was not disappointed. The portion sizes are amazing, and the food is pretty decent. If you like Vietnamese food I think you'll love this place. Be warned the location itself is pretty small but I personally think it adds to its charm. Oh man!! What a surprise ! All I can say is ... try this place! I had the won ton noodle soup and it was proper. First off , let's talk about the broth... piping hot with ample flavor. Next topic... the won tons. Not the biggest... I'm from Scarborough and I'm used to some monster won tons ... but ... but .., they are descent and very flavorful.... next the noodles.., just the right amount of goodness. Good solid place. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Lots of familys and couples coming in to eat in a simple but nice and clean restaurant. Im a huge fan of good General Tso Chicken (Swatow in TO being one of the best) and Saigon Boys' GTC is very good. Spicy, sweet, saucey, and very tasty. Saigon Boys is pretty basic in regards to interior but If you like authentic Pho you will love Saigon Boys. I have had Pho all over Vietnam and there's is just as good. Great menu selection and have never been disappointed. My wife and I visit at least once a week. read more
