I am taiwanese and I have to say this was delicious. There is someone actually making noodles in the back. Service was quick and very nice and upbeat. My server was Kelly and she was great- I ate in and took what I didnt finish to-go and she even separated my noodles from the broth! The mango green tea was also fantastic. Thank you!

Toronto Review 4/Many: I went to this excellent Lanzhou spot with another person as one of my…read moreearlier meals. Our server, Sophia, was bubbly and friendly, giving suggestions and helping with the ordering process for the other person who wasn't as sure what they wanted. We eventually went with two appetizers and two entrees, which was more than enough food, and honestly, we could have only ordered one appetizer. The better of the two appetizers was the CAD 8.95 Hand Shredded Pepper Chicken/手撕椒麻雞/Shou Si Ji. The dish consists of cold chicken in a flavorful sauce, topped with some greens. The chicken was tender, with a mild, pleasant spice and a bit of numbingness from the Sichuan peppercorns, along with some fragrance, presumably from sesame oil. It reminded me a bit of salivating chicken you find in some Szechuan spots, but it was more aromatic and a bit less spicy. The other appetizer was the Steamed Edamame/岩鹽毛豆 with Himalayan pink salt for CAD 5.95. The other person chose between this and the vegetable dumplings, as he avoids pork, and it was, of course, lighter than the other appetizer. The decent portion of edamame was topped with some pickled carrots as a garnish. My main dish was the Braised Beef Noodles/紅燒牛肉面/Hong Shao Niu Rou Mian. The dish included several options, including size, noodle style, and spice level. I chose the large for CAD $20.95, medium spice, and for the noodle style, I chose flat/宽面, as it was closest to the prism style I like at Lanzhou spots in the States. Along with these, I also added a tea egg for an extra CAD 2.95. Outside the add-on, the dish also had a couple of large slices of radish. Compared to some spots in NYC, I slightly preferred the QQ/bouncy texture of the noodles at a spot near me. However, the broth was better here with a balanced amount of mala, though I would likely order spicy next time, as I tend to add chili oil to the relatively lighter Lanzhou broths. The beef was also much better, being tender with a mild chew regardless of whether it was tendon or other cuts. The tea egg was flavorful and worth the add-on, especially when the inside was dipped further into the broth. I can see why others order this. The other person went with the Signature Stir-fried Noodles/招牌炒面/Chao Tatiaozi. There was an option of protein, and he went with Chicken for $17.95 and added the same egg. I tried a bit, and there was a pleasant pepperiness with a bit of numbing flavor, but less than my dish. The noodles had a good bounciness and overall had a slightly better chewiness than mine. This was lighter overall, but also tasty. This spot has apparently come to the US already at the Mall of America, and I would love it if there were a location closer to me. Good place.

They were quite busy with takeout orders which I took as a good sign. We ordered the Beef Sirloin Noodles level spicy and numb(4/5), Breaded Shrimp (5/5) Seafood Fried Rice (4/5) and Lamb Skewers (4/5). Beef Sirloin Noodles were delicious. The broth itself was not overly salty compared to other places we've been to. I enjoyed the addition of peanuts to this dish for that extra crunchy texture and nutty taste. The noodles were cooked perfectly. They were bouncy and chewy. The beef itself was good. Some were a tad bit chewy. I wish there was more bok choy. We'd also opt for extra spicy and extra numb next time. Breaded Shrimp was enjoyable. You can't go wrong with this dish. It was crispy, and the batter to shrimp ratio was decent. Seafood Fried Rice was good as well. Again, we liked how it wasn't overly salty. We were able to sense the taste of the seafood. I wish they added more scallops since we only got two pieces in the whole dish. Lamb Skewers were satisfying flavour-wise. We really liked the seasoning on them. It was on the chewier side but it was manageable. We'd like to try their other skewer options next time. Overall, such a good spot for affordable and delicious food. I'm glad my family recommended this place. I'd like to point out that a customer was being problematically entitled and rude yet the female server stayed professional. I thought she handled the situation quite calmly which I wanna commend her for. P.S. The restaurant has a sign on their door saying not to bring pets inside. So please read this and try not to bring your pet inside to avoid looking entitled and rude.

When we went in, there was no worker so had to wait a few minutes to be seated. I ordered the Spicy and Sour Sweet Potato Vermicelli with Beef. Lots of variety on the menu and prices are good for the big portion size but food tasted alright. The beef was really tough and hard to eat.

All their noodles are freshly hand-pulled to your preference of thickness! Service was great and food was made super fast. The braised beef was so tender and full of flavor. On a snowy day, I was looking for warm noodle soup place and decided to try their takeout given we can't find any parking spot nearby. We tried their beef braised noodles and the lamb skewers. Both were awesome and they timed your pickup time pretty well. The noodle was tasty, and the beef was super soft and flavourful which hit my every expectation on this dish. The lamb skewers ($9.99 for 4) were marinated very well, with perfect flavouring. It brought back a lot of childhood memories immediately. This is definitely my No. 1 go-to place for lamb skewers in future! Overall, I was very satisfied with the two dishes I've tried and they were having great value for money too. The chef is clearly having solid cooking fundamentals in Northwestern Chinese streed food. I strongly recommend this restaurant and will definitely revisit to try other dishes in future.

We ordered the following: 2 X Beef Brisket Noodle 1 X Dan Dan Noodle 1 X Pork Rugamo The Beef Brisket Noodles were good as last time, as well as the Pork Rugamo (Chinese burger). There is nothing spicy about the food here despite it being a Sichuan restaurant. For the "ant crawling up the tree" noodle dish, what they gave doesn't even remotely match what a traditional "ant crawling up the tree" dish would look like. It doesn't even resemble the picture on their menu. Not resembling the traditional version is ok if it tastes great, but not in this case. We haven't been able to visit for the past few years then decided to visit again for the sake of nostalgia. The whole menu changed so much that we didn't recognize 90% of them. I was able to find pictures of old menu from Google and showed to the server as I could not find our favorite dishes in the new menu. Luckily, they weren't on the menu but all available to make upon request! The taste didn't change much. I love the sauteed pork with pepper and chili was still so amazing. Spiced dry lettuce root was a bit too oily and needed more salt but still tasted good. Spicy beef noodle was also really nice as well but felt like the spices were bit heavier than years ago. Still pretty good and portion size was huge. They didn't change too much of the space as the overall layout and dining area remained unchanged. Service was great as well. I'm glad that this place is still serving the old menu and will definitely return. I always crave their spicy noodle bowl in the winter!
