yummy egg tarts; the puff pastry isn't crunchy but super soft and lots of egg flavor. Bakery is conveniently located in busy parts of Brooklyn. I'd go early before sell out

It was a hot day and I was looking for something cold to drink. Stumbled upon this store and the store caught my attention. I went to take a look at the stores and noticed that they also have a Lilly Bloom section that sells the lily bloom egg tart. The store is clean organized, and the cakes and breads are displayed neatly and there are signs and prices on the tags so you know what you're paying for and how much. The cashier lady is pretty quick with calculation so the line to pay for the food moves pretty fast. They have a special drink promotion, and I order the dragon fruit drink. The drink taste really therapy to me. Seems like it has a lot of artificial sugar in it. There is a couple of pieces of dragon fruit in the drink, but I don't think I would repurchase the drink again. It was refreshing though.

You can't come to Xinfa and not get their egg custard! Their egg custard is one of the closest I've had to the KFC egg custards in Asia. If you've been to Asia and have had them, you know what I'm talking about. Xinfa's egg custard is moist, and the crust is nice and crispy. I'd say this might be one of the best egg custards of this style in NYC. There's usually a line but it moves pretty quickly. Just make sure you know what you want before it's your turn so you can keep the line moving and save yourself time.

This is literally my favorite bakery to get Portuguese egg tarts from and they have quite a few varieties of interesting Asian breads. The only complaint I have about this place is that it is sooo deep in Brooklyn but that just makes me want to make sure trips over whenever I can. This bakery is okay sized however it is always busy, at least whenever I go, so it will get a little squishy. The service is super quick and although I am not a big fan of crowds, I really think the items here are worth the hassle. This time around I got a 1/2 dozen Portuguese egg tarts, they are always made fresh but I would recommend to eat at least one once they are purchased because the quality is definitely the best when first purchased, and I tried the durian crepe cake. The egg tarts of course are always great and the durian crepe cake was super moist and very duriany and not too sweet. Definitely will be back for these two items as soon as I can as well as pick up a couple more!

Best egg tarts I've had, seriously. Getting them fresh as soon as they open is the best.

$2 Portuguese egg tarts - they only sell these but they are just like regular egg tarts! Really great value. I would come back again. The custard is eggy and there is a great amount of it in the tart. The pastry crust is thin. They make it pretty often so I got mine warm!!! This was so yummy and better than Flushing egg tarts for price, value, and taste!!

A few of my work friends had recommended Xin Fa Bakery for their egg tarts ($2), so I decided to buy some for a gathering. There is a good amount of custard and the crust is on the thinner side. I am not a fan of the crust because it feels more crumbly. There is a worker in the front who will get the baked items for you to maintain order and cleanliness.

The shop's signature item is definitely their egg tarts. In my personal view, the other pastries and breads are just so-so and a bit overpriced. When it's crowded, you may have to wait quite a while for tart. If you don't want to wait in-store, the staff will take your payment, note down your phone number, and call you back when the next batch is ready for pickup. One box contains six egg tarts. If you can't finish them all, storing them in the fridge will give them a completely different taste.

Was taking a walk on 8th ave in Brooklyn and decided to check out this lovely bakery. I think I got a corn dog and a red bean bun. They were super fresh. Right out of the oven. Coffee was ok. I think it is located right now at 5816 8th ave. Will be back to try the egg tarts. Very good customer service.

The best egg tarts in Brooklyn! If you're lucky, you might not have a long wait but even on a rainy day, I had to wait 30 minutes! At least I know they were made fresh and packed just for me. Their egg tarts are great cause it's thick! The crust is nice and flakey and still manages to hold onto the thick custard. It's also not too sweet, making it the perfect little snack. I've gotten breads and other pastries from here as well but the egg tarts are the move to go. They also have the name Lily Bloom inside too so I'm not sure if this bakery is still called Xin Fa but I know there are other Lily Bloom bakeries around the block that aren't as busy as this one. So if you want to skip the wait, go to one of the other locations!

100% one of the best egg tarts I've had, definitely top 3. Their Portuguese egg tart is the real star, and pretty affordable at $1.75 each! It gets pretty busy and crowded inside the bakery, so we ate outside at a nearby park.

I'm a huge fan of egg tarts and this place have the best one I've ever had! It lives up to the hype. The custard to shell ratio is perfect! It seems like 85% custard and 15% shell. It came out SUPER hot I burned the roof of my mouth 3 times but I just couldn't wait. I've never finish any shell of an egg tart before, but I did here! Part of the shell have a cheesy taste to it. The custard was not too sweet and it wasn't heavy with the vanilla either, just the right amount. It was so fluffy!

Definitely pre-order your portuguese egg tarts via phone! I always get them by the dozens but they also sell them in singles. Love them!

When you order the egg tarts over the phone, do you prepay as well?

You do not prepay

Do you they speak English if I want to be order egg tarts over the phone?

If you go to Lily Bloom on 86th street off Bay Parkway, you don't have to wait. Less crowded and same offerings. The place is run by the same people. They have a third location in Bay Ridge Brooklyn.

Do they have egg tarts and all of pastries ready when they open in the morning? If I go around that time, do I still need to call ahead to place an order?

Like any bakery around the area, depends how early you go they will have a smaller selection. The best time to go for a wider selection is after 9am. If you're looking for specifically Portuguese egg tart, they won't be available until after…

But this review is about something bigger than dessert. The strawberry cheesecake here reminds me of my mom. It was her favorite, and it was one of the last desserts I got to share with her. Anytime she wanted a sweet treat, that's what she asked for. Ordering it now keeps me connected to her. This past July, on her 3rd birthday in heaven, I placed an order to celebrate her. The menu only had cherry cheesecake that day, so I wrote a note explaining what the strawberry meant to me. The staff didn't just make it happen, they sent an extra slice of strawberry cheesecake on top of it. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. The people here have always been this kind. We love everyone who works there, and we're grateful for the small moments of care they've shown our family. Thank you for everything.

While the line was intimidating, it moved surprisingly quick: by the time we had pastries in hand, it was only 10:50 a.m. A 30 minutes wait for supposedly the best pastries in this part of town is not bad at all. Between my wife and I, we shared three items: an olive and grape focaccia slab, a corn cake, and a triple chocolate croissant. Of the items we tried, the corn cake was a sleeper hit and turned out to be my favorite. I loved the caramelized crispy edges of the corn cake. The corn cake had a wonderful sweetness to it that felt balanced and not overwhelming. The decadent triple chocolate croissant was buttery, airy and flakey. The focaccia was proofed perfectly, had a bubbly open crumb and each bite fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. The grape and olive flavor combination sounded strange but actually complemented each other nicely -- sweet and savory. I can absolutely understand the hype behind Radio Bakery and wouldn't mind waiting in line again for their delicious products.

Everything was perfect. Perfect techniques. Perfect flavors and such robust flavors and textures. I was so impressed. I wish I could eat more right now, everyday. The most tomatoey focaccia. These are the things I've gotten: Bacon and Chive Focaccia (5/5): I would get this anytime they have it available because it's a warm focaccia with cheesy spread loaded with crispy bacon and sausage with chives. The bread is bouncy and the perfect amount of dough with the savory bacon and sausage. The chives gives it a freshness. Beware they sell this at 10am and runs out FAST. Like 30-1 hr fast and they don't make anymore for the rest of the day lol. Or at least I've went 3 times here and the 2 times they sold out by 11am and the one time I've gotten it, it was 10:15am. Beef and Arugula Focaccia (4.5/5): If you can't grab a bacon and chive focaccia then this is their next BEST one! It comes on a sea salt focaccia that's loaded with slices of thin beef, caramelized red onions, arugula, and slathered with a good horseradish mayo spread that coats the greens. This is delicious! Listen it didn't look appetizing but this one the taste over looks and it was one of the most flavorful sandwiches I had. The horse radish mayo gives it a nice punch! The beef was so tender. Turkey and Pesto Focaccia (4/5): This was loaded with turkey slices, slathered with a generous pesto spread, and had kale that seemed like it was seasoned lightly with olive oil or a tangy vinaigrette. This worked very well with the focaccia which soaked it all in and the kale was perfectly tender and balanced out the saltiness from pesto and turkey. Safe choice for sure! Corn Cake (5/5): You must get this pastry if it's your first time here or anytime you want a sweet treat. I honestly think this is their best dessert ever and would get it everytime. It's a moist, chewy on the inside brown butter corn cake that tastes like corn bread mixed with brownie texture if you get what I mean. The outside is crunchy while inside is perfectly chewy and moist. Love this! Vanilla Kouign Amann (4.5/5): They do their Kouign Amanns close to perfection here. Theirs comes with the infamous caramelized sugar bottom and the inside is nice and fluffy with layers of buttered croissant like bread. Well done! Double Chocolate Croissant (2/5): This was not good as when I bit into the pastry it was flat and soft. Not a good chewiness or flakiness at all.
