Strawberry coconut milk jelly
Jenny N.

Place is nice and sleek, a little small but enough room to eat in. The cakes and pastries have smaller cake sizes and bigger cakes but pricing is a little pricey but comparative with other bakeries. They lost one star for the pricing. We ordered the strawberry coconut milk jelly and a Japanese style cheesecake. Both were delicious and fluffy. Kayla gives this place a thumbs up! The server commented that Kayla was beautiful since she is mixed blood with big eyes... future yelper in the making ... follow Kayla journey IG @ jen_kay_thejourney and her yelp @ Kayla T. Ng-T

Tried the red bean filled pineapple bun today -- its fantastic! Fluffy bun, crisp topping, generous filled with red bean!

this bakery features amazing cakes and quintessential asian baked goods. there's a big selection and things are displayed in a really nice and open way. service is great, and the cake i've tried (pictured) was stuffed with the freshest fruit which I really appreciated! things are really fluffy and creamy and never feels too heavy after the fact

This is a cute trendy bakery on 8th Ave. So far I've only tried their breads, but I really want to try their cakes, especially the soy mochi cake. Their breads are a hit or miss, depending which bread it is. The pineapple bun with a slab of butter is so good, and I don't think I've found that type of bread at another Chinese bakery in nyc. I know some HK cafes sell them but I have yet to try. Anyway, I think the pineapple bun with a slab of butter is really good (not Hong Kong good, but very acceptable). The bread is fluffy but the pineapple part is crispy and the butter is nice and thick and salted. All the while, it doesn't feel like I'm eating a heart attack. However, I've also tried their ham and egg sandwich and it was a no-go. They had some other interesting-sounding items that I would like to try. And if you're looking for bento cakes, they got it.

Salt cheese bun, sesame mochi bun and milk pudding bun

New modern bakery on 8th Ave. Loved the sesame mochi bun! So chewy and full of sesame flavor. Milk pudding bun was great as well but the salt cheese bun (?) was disappointing because it was bland and flavorless. Would love to come back to try some of their other innovative buns and cakes as well.

I saw the reviews and decided to try it when I was in the mood for dessert. I got the taro cake and it was ok. Too creamy for me and you couldn't taste the taro that much but the presentation was pretty.

The cakes are pretty and taste good. Not too sweet. Great birthday cake to share. Tried many different types of round cakes for different birthdays.

When in Little Hong Kong (Brooklyn's China town) make sure to swing by Bakery 1988! They're known for their delicious cakes but they also have very affordable drinks and pastries. I love their coconut buns and many different pork floss pastries.

came into this bakery one weekend morning. Buns and cakes were fully stocked; there's some eclectic varieties of bun specialty and cakes carried by this bakery (purple taro mochi bun); some cakes are sold by the slice at close to $7 per slice-kind of pricey. The store itself is clean and has a few comfy seats for dine-in. Location might be an issue; there's too many bakeries all clustered around the same area; It's tough to compete with brand name franchises along with the traditional local Asian bakeries that's been around for years. Overall, this bakery sells some tasty baked goods

Strawberry pudding

I tried the strawberry pudding. It was less like a pudding and more like a jello. Pretty presentation but prices are a little high. The 1988 logo on the pudding was made of paper, not chocolate, so don't eat it, haha.

I heard about this bakery on Instagram and loved the prices that they have for small, medium and large cakes. I wanted the Ube cake, but they were sold out of the 4 inch cake for my sister's birthday, so I called in advance and asked for them to reserve a mango cake for a 630pm pick up time. This is my first time finding out that Brooklyn has a Chinatown. It was so lovely hearing them Answer the phone with a Chinese hello and switching to English. The neighborhood has authentic Chinese food cards, Boba tea, restaurants, fish markets and fresh fruits and vegetables. I love the aesthetic of the bakery and the family Business fuel of the establishment. My sister loved the cake. It was not sweet as we're used to our cakes being, but the mango taste fresh and the cake was airy and fluffy. the size of the cake was perfect for her birthday with just her and I present. You can buy a packet of candles or one candle for a dollar.

First time coming in person (I have been spoiled and a fantastic coworker would bring in different…read moretreats from here on occasion). The space is relatively small, with a line inside and outside and a few tables outside. The length of the line and wait time varies based on the time of day and if you go on a weekday vs weekend. Go early if you don't want them to sell out of anything or purposely go a little later if you want one of their lunch sandwiches on focaccia. I have had the tomato and garlic focaccia twice now and each time it has been exceptional. Minor critique, the slices of garlic could be a bit smaller. I also had the shakshuka focaccia which is divine and I would absolutely recommend both. I need to come back to try their sandwiches as well. I am not a sweets person, but everyone I know loves their pastries. Getting someone a gif tcard here makes for a great gift.

Dropped by Radio Bakery on the Tuesday morning after Memorial Day and the lines weren't too crazy…read more I got there in time to grab some breakfast items and baked goods, and then waited at a table outside for the lunch items to get set out around 11AM. I'm usually more of a savory girlie but all the sweet items we tried were great, especially the rhubarb croissant and the earl grey morning bun. I really enjoyed the focaccia sandwiches (smoked salmon and pea/mint/feta were elite) and the artichoke green garlic slice. The flavor of the sesame stirato was excellent but the bread itself was a tad too chewy for the filling we got with it (tuna salad), so that style probably works better with the jambon beurre. Will definitely be on the rotation whenever I'm in the city -- would love to try some of their seasonal/limited edition items one day, though not sure if I have it in me to brave the lines that can form on the weekends, lol! We'll see :)

Radio Bakery... is perfection. I completely understand the line…read more I first ordered the heirloom tomato & feta sandwich, which was unbelievable. It is so clear that they use incredibly high-quality ingredients and carefully curate each component, which is exactly why everything comes together in such an elevated way. The tomatoes reminded me of the ones I grew in my garden during California summers as a teenager. Perfectly salted, layered over soft, not-too-tart feta. The focaccia was made with beautiful olive oil and, while a bit chewier than I usually prefer, gave the sandwich a satisfying bite. I had to close my eyes while eating it just to savor it. The chocolate cherry almond croissant... wow. Such a creative combination, and it did not disappoint. Soft, buttery, and filled with a sour cherry compote that reminded me of a cherry cordial from a box of chocolates. 5/5. Hainsley, who helped me, was exceptionally lovely. Everyone even in line was very nice, the vibes were awesome. I'll definitely be back to try the spicy tofu sandwich and the heirloom tomato tart!

First time I have walked by and there isn't a like so of course I had to go in. Went with the bacon…read moreegg and cheese focaccia. This was delicious but they should definitely keep it on a warming tray or something! It was nice and cheesy with a good amount of the bacon and a whole egg inside. Also had the peach iced tea (doesn't come sweetened but they have options on the bar opposite the register. Service was quick and friendly I was in and out. Grabbed a spot on the bench under the tree to chow down.
