Walking into Xaman is like being transported to a cool vibey cafe in Mexico City. They do not replace great ambiance with the lack of flavor in their food! We got the mollete and chilaquiles. The bread is fluffy and crispy with flavorful beef. Chilaquiles with birria were one of the best we've had, and stayed fairly crispy throughout the meal. I usually don't order drinks, but had to get a coffee to drink it from these cute cups and their drink menu is so unique. The waitress recommended a coco latte since it wasn't too sweet and it was a great drink to pair the meal with. They separate the horchata and espresso in the Xaman Horchata so you can try both and the horchata is so smooth and good. read more

This was my first stop for food in Dallas. It was one of my favorites BY FAR! I ordered the strawberry matcha latte. It may have been a Valentine's special, but if not you have to try! We tried the Mexican croissant and the chilaquiles. I would recommend both! The staff were so friendly. They explained the dishes, specials, and story behind the restaurant. We went for brunch time but it was a bit busy in the front so we got to sit in the back half that actually turns into a speakeasy at night. The front half is very bright and full of plants. I had coffee and a pastry at Xamán Cafe with my mom this past weekend when we were in Oak Cliff/Bishop Arts for a morning. First of all, the cafe is gorgeous. The cafe is inspired by Mexico's pre-Hispanic culture and history. The cafe itself is modern and bright, but you can see touches of pre-Hispanic culture in their menu and in their dishes. They serve their coffees in mugs made in Mexico - that are beautiful and traditional (black clay with faces on them, in a style popular in and traditional to the state of Oaxaca). We were meeting someone for brunch in a bit, so we couldn't eat a full meal, but I'd love to return for brunch in the future. (They serve brunch daily - starting at 7:30 on weekdays and 8 on Saturdays and Sundays.) Their menu is great - full of Mexican dishes I love: chilaquiles, enmoladas, pozole (only on weekends), sopa de fideo (M-Th only), and more... In addition to their menu, they offer some pastries at the counter. I tried their cajeta empanada, which was very good. Their drink menu is great, too, though: cafe de olla, Oaxaca mocha (with Mexican chocolate), cajeta macchiato, matcha, cocktails (like a fun play on an espresso martini and a carajillo), and more... My mom had a simple coffee, but I tried their Xamán horchata: their house made horchata and a double espresso. Our coffees were great. My empanada was a treat. The service was good. This cafe is picture perfect and oh-so-calm and cozy inside. Lots of natural light to match the furniture, plateware, and drinkware which all appear to be made of wood and clay. It's way more fun to drink your cafe de olla, chai, or hot chocolate when it's served in an art piece that you're actually allowed to touch! Feels extra special. We felt a little rushed during our visit, although our waitress was very kind. We had the cafe do olla (traditional Mexican coffee brewed with cinnamon sticks and piloncillo), which has a really nice sweetness and a hint of cinnamon-y spice. Super cozy and smells like Christmas. We also had iced brown sugar spiced lattes, my new favorite. Not too sweet. For breakfast, we had to try the chilaquiles. I didn't catch the server's name but she was clearly trying to flip her table as soon as possible. During breakfast here, she returned incessantly to ask if we were done or needed anything else. The restaurant seems small at first, but then you walk back and there's another part of the restaurant that seems like a speakeasy. I bet it is at night. Classic Oaxaca decor and flair. We ordered the mole chilequiles, torta ahogada, and the oaxacan mocha for that caffeine fix. All was so good. The mole chilequiles had a nice nuttiness with the mole and the torta was delivered in a tomato based dipping sauce that was absolutely amazing. THE FINAL BAMBOO: For two dishes and an oaxacan mocha, the damage done was around $45. Great meal all around and I will definitely be back to try more items. read more

Overall this place was pretty good. The vibe inside was amazing. It's nice and cozy in the front and more elegant once dinner service starts. Me and my friend got the el coco latte and the horchata matcha latte. The coco latte was good but on the sweeter side and the matcha was not all that. We ordered Chilaquiles with beef and to be honest the food was cold and chips were not hot, the only thing hot was the eggs on top. One thing I will say is the food had nice flavor but definitely cold. I ordered myself a café de Olla and they brought it like in a cereal bowl, for a $7 coffee it did not have much cafe.. very disappointed. The macchiato was actually better. The server was polite and very attentive. I do recommend getting in early as the place does get a wait line. I called early morning to see if they were going to be open since it was Easter day, and the hours were 8am-4PM. We showed up around 10am and there was no wait for 3 ppl. We were sat in the back area which is a bit dark but the ambiance is still nice. We ordered two plates of chilaquiles, one veggie with mole and the other with salsa verde and birria. This has to be my new favorite cafe! There is more seating in the back and a lovely bar area. We opted for the bar seats which seemed more spacious and it was fun to see their tequila collection. We ordered a cafe de olla, Xaman horchata, beef power bowl, and the avena. The cafe de olla was delicious and the perfect amount of sweetness. The xaman horchata was also great, but I should've listened to the waitress and poured the espresso to taste vs dumping the whole thing. We got a side of the Serrano salsa for the power bowl and it was so good! Spicy, but flavorful. I would probably order the chicken power bowl instead of the beef next time just bc I wasn't a fan of the meat. The food was very filling, refreshing, and just very good clean eats. I'm from out of town, and I'll be making Xaman Cafe a must-visit spot every time I visit Dallas! The food here was absolutely delicious. This cafe is located in a pretty trendy area. I did not see a designated parking lot, but there are parking spots available on the street nearby where you can pay to park. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant isn't the biggest, so it can get packed fairly quickly, especially on weekends. We came in on a Sunday morning for a party a three. It was a bit of a wait, but luckily there was bar seating available that shortened our wait. Inside, the restaurant has two areas. The front is a bright dining area featuring a counter where you can purchase drinks and pastries. When you make your way towards the back of the restaurant, it splits into a bar area. Dim lighting, very intimate, it gives off a completely different vibe from the front end. We sat at the bar, and the service was a bit slow. It took some time to place a drink order at the bar, and even getting a simple Michelada took over 10 minutes. The michelada was not your average michelada, it was really really dark. Very smoky in taste compared to other micheladas, I wouldn't recommend getting a michelada here. However, the mimosa was good, and their "Duvalin Latte" was also great. The latte truly captures that chocolate-strawberry taste of a Duvaline!!! It is a latte, so expect the coffee taste, but it's not too harsh on the espresso. I got it iced, and it came in a cute clay cup. To eat, we got the "Chilaquiles" with chicken and salsa verde, and the "Machete de Barbacoa" (the machete is only served on weekends, FYI.) The chilaquiles were some of the best chilaquiles I have ever had. This is the reason I am coming back here, for these chilaquiles! Everything about it was delicious. From the salsa to the way the chicken was cooked and seasoned, even the egg was cooked to my liking perfectly! 10/10 for the chilaquiles! The Machete de Barbacoa was also tasty, flavors you can't get at any common Mexican restaurant. A machete is basically a big quesadilla using a corn tortilla. The barbacoa they use is made from goat, it wasn't too gamey in taste, which is great. The barcoa itself was tasty, but the game changer was the broth that came with the dish. Once you dip a piece of the machete in the broth, the flavor is changed and elevated. It took the dish from a level 8 to a level 12 by dipping it in the broth. You could sip the broth straight from the cup, that's how good it was. Xaman, I will be back. The flavors of the dishes here were fantastic, flavors you don't often come across. If you come here, I'll say it again: I highly suggest ordering the chilaquiles. read more

We were nearby at the Texas Theater for an event and came to Xaman to grab dinner as it was a hop skip and a jump away. The minute we walked in the door, we knew we wanted to dine here. They take reservations for dinner and though the dining was completely booked up, they allowed us to sit in the front cafe area and order a meal. The hubs needed caffeine (which was one reason we picked this place to dine) and he cannot have dairy, he was able to get a cortado with oat milk which he loved. We each ordered something different. This place is very unique. I had the opportunity to try both their cafe and their night menu ayahuasca. The daytime xaman cafe is interesting but not extraordinary. I had the chilaquiles and they tasted great but the texture was ruined quite quickly with the dish as it got soggy 7/10. I also had a sandwich here with chorizo but that one was just average 5/10. The cinnamon concha was quite good as a one time experience 7/10. For the night menu, I loved the ayahuasca drink. It was sophisticated but not too sharp. The pineapple was a nice touch 8/10. The pato and pipan was solid but not noteworthy. The duck was cooked well and flavorful. However it fell short to other experiences I've had with duck. 7/10 The ceviche was also solid. It was light and refreshing and a decent appetizer 7/10. The flan however was very disappointing. I wasn't a fan of the texture nor the coffee undertone. I was excited for this dish as I had amazing flan earlier in the day but it fell short. 4/10 The churros were just churros. Can't really go wrong I liked them. 7/10 Overall, I'd really recommend people to try the ayahuasca night time menu. It's an amazing experience and I'm glad I chose to stop by.
