LOVE this place!! Mom and pop store with the most delicious flaky empanadas in Burbank! Wonderful people, great environment (I hear they'll be adding more indoor seating soon!), and the most satisfying comfort food I've had in a while! My favorite comfort food here is the spinach and cheese empanadas with chimichurri sauce and an agua fresca! I can eat that everyday! This morning I got a bacon breakfast burrito, and the tortilla crust was so flaky and delectable - was going to take a picture but I ate it too fast! x) They also now serve coffee!! This place has actually some good empanadas. Tried the chili con carne and chicken empanadas and found them quite tasty, nice flavor and the pastry is not very doughy. I almost wanted to give this place 4 stars but had to deduct 1 mainly due to the service. The person taking our order at that time did not seem very welcoming, almost like in a bad mood which is quite off-putting. Service to me plays a big part on me coming back or not. I just ordered take out for dinner at World Empanadas. I was very pleased and will be back. I ordered the Chicken ($2.95) and Pinto Beans & Rice ($2.95). Plus the Nutella & Banana ($2.95) for a sweet finish. I love that they are all baked and not fried. They smelled delicious on my drive home and couldn't wait to take a bite. They all had a really good flavor and the salsas were very fresh and spicy. My first experience was a tasty and delicious one. I will be back to try more! read more

By far the best Empanadas anywhere. We don't live in the area, but were in Burbank for an acupuncture appointment. While i was waiting for my wife i was looking on Yelp for places to eat because i am not familiar with the area. Owner was very nice and we chatted about his business and how well he was doing on yelp. We bought a dozen and ate some right there. I think my favorite was the chicken. Clean and quaint, this empanada making joint is like it popped out of a storybook. The owner here is friendly and welcoming. He walks you through their 19 different empanada choices. One of the hidden gems of the valley! Some friends told me about this place a year ago and we've all been obsessed since. It's very small shop in Burbank near Mariposa/Magnolia full of dozens of kinds of empanadas. Empanadas are little stuffed bread/pastries with various fillings. Meats, cheeses, vegetables, dessert fillings, etc. It's a deep tissue massage for your taste buds and you may just leave the place in tears of joy. Happy tears, surprisingly, make a great condiment. Just for future reference. What I love is that they are exceptionally vegan friendly! Yeah, you have a ton of other options, but you also have a ton of vegan options like the quinoa & lentils, pinto beans & rice, soy chorizo, and one of the best reasons to go: the mixed berry fruit empanada. Don't miss the chimichurri sauces over on the side, along with a chalkboard for drawing while you wait. If the empanadas are already made, the wait time is very short. If not, they'll make them fresh for you in under 10 minutes. The staff is great. The owner is awesome. His son is the main chef and is always trying to make new recipes. And they constantly try to improve the setup. Bring your boss some empanadas before you ask for a raise. Get the breakfast burrito (bb). The bb sold here is straight forward and simple -scrambled eggs, sausage/bacon, griddled potatoes & melted cheese, wrapped in a warm, pliable tortilla, with a tomatillo & red chile salsa on the side. But it is constructed supremely well. The truth of the matter is some of these other places claiming to sell bb's are straight up selling potato burritos with barely any of the other ingredients. Not at World Empanadas. There is a good ratio of eggs to sausage/bacon, to potato, to cheese. Legit EEEEEATS with each bite. But what really sets this bb apart from others is the house chimichurri sauce they have available for their customers. It's herbaceous with a bit of heat. Definitely not a typical condiment seen at other burrito-rias, but would argue equally delicious as your favorite local taqueria salsa or the revered Tapatios. If you're a rookie or a vet to the breakfast burrito life and you're in the area, this spot has got the hook up. If you disagree, grab yourself some empanadas. I hear they're also money. Real talk: the bb here is not the gargantuan that Lucky Boy is, nor does it have all the variety of Brothers. But more importantly, the bb at World Empanadas does not have the overly "margarine-ated" taste that some of these other places have. It may not rank as the best breakfast burrito in all of LA but it can easily serve as a benchmark to judge others. read more

Empanadas remind me of small clouds. If done right they are puffy, a little yummy goodness of flavors swirling in my mouth. This place does that and more! They have flavors you don't normally see at other places, like quinoa and lentil, creamy corn, my favorite apple and dulce de leche. Also the best traditionally you expect. I only liked the spicy meat empanadas and only kinda liked it. It's not the typical empanada I was brought up with, the dough is not flaky and it's only baked. I'm pretty sure it's been frozen for a bit too. The other issue I found as a business on a weekend why not have as many empanadas available to serve instead of making me wait ten minutes. I recently traveled to Brazil and these remind me of those empanadas, just as good and cheap too. You sit inside but it's kind of narrow and cramped, it would be cool to have more outside tables. If you are looking for a great bargain meal for lunch or take out, this is the place. My wife and I had the combo meal which comes with a salad or soup. To hot of a day for soup and the salad which was a good portion was good, although a little cucumber to cool down my palate would have been s great touch. The girl working the counter gave me a sample of the soup, tortilla. I'll be back on a cool day for sure. I've had nothing but goodness from here. It's a real sweet place, made by families for families. My only downside is that the horchata's too grainy for me, but to each horchata lover her own. You find this place in a small corner grocery store. I got there around 3:00p, and there weren't too many empanadas left. However, I managed to score one of each creamy corn, spinach, and apples & dulce de leche along with salsas (chimichurri, salsa fresca, and tomatillo sauce) and then hurried home. Those three empanadas were still warm when I got home. I cut them in half (before my boyfriend could eat them all by himself) and shared with the said boyfriend (who was apparently quite hungry). We both agreed that the spinach one was the best, but they were all delicious. In fact, it was quite amazing how much dulce de leche they managed to shove into a little empanada pouch. They are flavourful and perfect for snacking. I'll be back to try other vegetarian-friendly empanadas (nutella and banana!). read more

One of the best local restaurants in Burbank! They are so fast and efficient. The restaurant space is very tiny. It's busy during lunch! I like to order my Empanadas and take it to go. Round up to 4.5! A really good place for fast lunch. The empanadas are baked and doughy, not greasy, and the fillings are all tasty. My personal fav is Spinach. I like that the fillings aren't JUST beef, just spinach etc. but mixed with different ingredients for a unique flavor. Lunch special is a good deal, 3 empanadas + Caesar or pasta salad for ~$7. The Caesar is simple but refreshing. Their sauces, esp the salsa fresca are also delicious. Today (Friday) when I went they had a daily special, which turned out to be tongue (beef perhaps?) But it was also very good and hearty. I'd like to come back to see if they have different specials every week! The only thing that's a little troublesome is the location/parking-- the lot for the liquor store is often chaotic (cars parked everywhere), and you're forced to find street parking. Great empanadas, great music, great vibe, great Jamaica (hibiscus ice tea). Was gonna have 4 empanadas and had to try one more. Had beef, breakfast, biscuits and gravy, creamy corn and cheesy onion. Yes those were all empanadas. They were all great but beef was my favorite. Good clean environment and the inspirational quotes written around the place was a nice touch. Rockin the Gypsy Kings too, can't complain. Definitely recommend and I'll always try to come when I'm back in the area. UPDATE! Came back and it's still amazing. On March 15th 2019 I popped in to World Empanadas for the 1st time ever. I didn't have much time, I needed to catch a Bus, so I figured Empanadas would be a safe bet. When I got there, there was a Queue (a good sign that food is good, I thought). It all went down from there; The Menu Is in Tiny Print (for us short sighted folks), The Prices are Not Clearly Posted (in Large enough Print) and are Exhorbitante $3.99 Per Empanada, No matter what is in it. I asked for 1 cheese and onion empanada...they were out but promised they would have a new batch in 3-5 Min. (I can't recall). They came out, they put one into a bag and off I went to catch my Bus across the street. I was hungry so I thought I'd try it. The Cheese was Too Salty and the Blob Of Cheese and Onion was Still Frozen. What a Disappointment. Still waiting for the Bus I Called and said The Cheese ones are Still frozen, they offered me a replacement and I said I didn't want to miss my Bus . A bit later, a Nice Your Lady Named Joyce came Out To the Bus Stop with a Bag with 2-Empanadas. I Could Not Believe it. That is Professionalisms. I Appreciate It A Lot.
