The Bacon and egg empanada with Chimchuri was fire!!! The Carne Asada not bad, Pepperoni and Cheese reminded me of a hot pocket and the chicken well i wasnt happy with that one seemed to soggy for my taste. There are many more fillings i think 19 in total, but for 4 I was already at $22.00 before tax so i stopped my taste testing...A bit pricey for my taste when it comes to empanadas but hey to habe a space at the he Americana probably isn't cheap. The staff were friendly and they get you in and out pretty fast. Overall tastes but pricey!!!

The empanadas in the display looked so mouth wateringly good, that we had to stop by and try it! Seemed to be pretty popular - we picked up a few different flavors to try: chicken alfredo, philly cheesesteak, samosa veggie & mac n cheese!

We stopped by the Americana for some Christmas festivities and started off our journey with some Nonna's Empanadas. You can't miss it, because there's proabably a line for it and you'll see the glass display of all of their empanadas. They have both sweet and savory ones which is great because most of the time, I want a savory empanada. Around 5pm on a Saturday evening, they still had a majority of flavors left. We got the Samosa Beef and the Chicken Mushroom & Cheese and both were great. The empanadas were loaded with filling which was nice because some of the emapanads i've tried were mostly dough. My favorite was the Chicken, Mushroom and Cheese. The only downside is that it's quite expensive for $5.44 a piece.

Get the beef and jalapeño empanadas! And get a whole lot of them. Nonna's has all kinds of other flavors but the beef and jalapeño are easily the best. They make a super easy and super tasty lunch on the go.

I had high expectations with this place. I ordered a variety of empanadas and wished I only bought one. They were all dry and salty beyond belief. I granted. I only ordered the savory ones. I'm not sure how their sweet empanadas are. They may be great. I also wished the lady working was a bit nicer to patrons. She was short with the group ahead of me and I was under the impression I was taking up her time as well.

Saw the stand while walking in to Din tai Fung and made a note to come back. Asked when they closed and she said 8pm. Came back after dinner and ordered 5 empanadas. Disappointed that they ran out of chicken and mushroom but got the spinach and cheese, chicken, beef, carne asada and Cuban. Was ready quickly and costs like $35. Brought them home for me and my hubby. Ate the Cuban the next day, hubby had the carne asada. Very yummy. Had the spinach the next day and enjoyed that one as well. Hubby tried it the third day but it wasn't very good by then. Still, good place for empanadas, just don't wait too long to eat!

Chicken salsa verde = OK. Good flavor. But dry beyond belief. Shouldn't chicken have some moisture? Chicken = gross. Like someone else said.. skip the regular chicken. The seasoning/flavor is just not good. At least this one was a little more moist.. (a little).. but it just didn't taste good. Over $11 for two empanadas. I'm not sure how much they SHOULD cost elsewhere, so I won't hold that against them. Maybe I just ordered wrong? I have had Nonna's from Ubatuba Acai (mid-city) before. They were just DRY from this location. Note: I visited just after 11:00 a.m. on a Sunday. 2023: 8/100

Look, I'm not the authority on empanadas by any stretch of the imagination. I rarely if ever have them but I've had Nonna's twice lately - once from Ubatuba Studio City and most recently at their little outpost at the Americana. These are absolutely scrumptious!!! They have SO many options, sweet and savory and while I'm most always a sweet person vs savory - I adore the mushroom option here. It is soooo good! I highly recommend Nonna's empananadas. The more I think about it the more I think these are the perfect item to bring to a pot luck or gathering. I'd say they are more or less single serve and you'd need to cut them to share but bringing a dozen or two if needed would be so nice. Perfect little snack to pick up while shopping in the area. Service was great.

Not only is this level of empanada dry on the edges and partially flavorless on the Carnitas. But the gentleman that is here on June 6, 2024 at 5:30 PM is literally smoking his vape and has it on work surface areas as well as painting and eating food right in the window. And then when we order our empanadas, he doesn't even put on gloves. Nor did he even wash his hands. And I had to ask him why he had a vape on a work surface area in a kitchen where food is being served as well as paints, and he didn't wash his hands before handling my empanadas that we pay so much for. Then he hands us empanadas that are broken and busted open. We are up for two combos at the price that is posted. I hope that the management reads this and reaches out to me. All we will bring in the health department and show videos and proof of what is happening over at this property at Americana in Glendale. Wake up!! You are serving people food. Take your personal life out of the establishment.

I wish I would have taken a pic of the inside of each, but I was starving and my 5 yr old niece ate all of the mushroom one. haha! Empanadas are filled completely which is nice. No room for air like you might find in some. The mushroom one was our favorite. I ordered the jalapeno beef and it was good but really oily. The guava empanada was a nice ending but definitely a whole lot of guava. I wished it tasted more like a guava cheese roll from Portos. Def one of the better empanadas I've had and a great snack while shopping or waiting for your table at DTF haha.

Got the chicken alfredo & philly cheesesteak. Chicken alfredo was dry & disappointing. Philly cheesesteak is a winner. It was phenomenal. You're welcome.

Really nice for a quick bite around the corner! The variety of empanadas is amazing. Though I love meat, I also love to try vegetarian dishes as comparisons, I must say how the Beyond veggie empanada almost taste like beef! The other vegetarian empanadas are good but don't taste as meaty. Best to end the meal was the dulce de leche empanada. It wasn't too sweet. It was creamy enough to melt in your mouth every bite! Though seats are limited, the convenience of grab and go is great! I would come back again to try the rest of the empanadas!

Came here for the souffle pancakes and they didn't disappoint!…read more My party of 3 stopped by Saturday afternoon 2:30 pm and it wasn't crowded. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose outdoor since it was such a nice day out. They have all of their desserts on display in the case, so you can peruse the options and see what looks good. So many of the desserts looked good, like the matcha yuzu chiffon crepe cake or the rose and lychee crepe cake. We ordered via the kiosk and got the mango sunshine souffle pancake ($16.50) and well as a couple drinks. My drink was the white peach lemon jasmine bliss ($6.25), with 50% sweetness and less ice. Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. We got it with the sauce on the side, but I regret doing that as I saw others getting it with the sauce on top and it was beautiful. The pancake was super fluffy and a bit eggy as well. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. The pancake was pretty sweet, so I could barely taste my drink, but I think it was good? I could taste a bit of the lemon but definitely not the white peach, which is a lighter flavor. I got a slice of their Hokkaido cheese cake roll for $7 to go and had it the next day. It was okay but definitely a bit pricy for what you get. I'd love to come back to try their other desserts and pancakes!

This cafe has potential but at the moment it is not quite living up to the hype. The cafe, one of…read morethree in the area, is mostly kitchen & counter with a small bar counter with six stools facing the window & a handful of tables inside. It is not really cute or aesthetic in any way... and the whole place could use a refresh. There is a covered patio with a few tables outside but at the moment it is a bit haphazard and not the nicest because the space next door is doing construction & there is a large dumpster on Green Street. We ordered Black tea & Floral Pineapple Blossom tea drinks, Peach Crepe Cake and a Peach Souffle Pancake ($17.50) via the kiosk. When you order, you receive a text that lets you know your order number, has a receipt, and also an expected time of delivery. The drinks were ready about 15 minutes. They were both fine, and prepared correctly. The peach crepe cake was brought out a few minutes later. My mom enjoyed it and it looked very pretty. Then the time that the entire order was supposed to be ready came and went. I checked in with Nick at the counter and he said that my souffle pancake would be ready in 5 minutes. About 7 minutes later, when my mom was done with her cake. Nick brought it over and set it down in next to me. It was jiggly, huge, and very wobbly. I slid it over so it was in front of me, and the top pancake fell off of the stack, and flipped over so the whipped cream side was on the counter. I tried to flip it back over and put it on top of the stack, but it fell apart. At this point, I was so frustrated with the situation and grossed out by the possibility of eating whipped cream and pancake that had been on the counter, that I asked Nick to remedy the situation. He offered to make a new pancake, but since this one had taken 40 minutes to come out, I was not willing to wait that long again. He kindly offered an alternative suggestion which I accepted. I tried the Creme Brulee crepe cake which was mildly flavored and pretty tasty. (Maybe I should have just gotten it in the first place, but I had really wanted to try the souffle pancake which I've since & sadly lost interest in.) With that, we bid Motto adieu, and it is unlikely that I will return. A few additional notes: Parking in the area is metered and $1.25/hr with a max of 2 hours, the single bathroom is functional, but there is some problem with the ceiling (there is a gaping hole covered by plastic) making for an unpleasant and potentially unsanitary situation. This should be remedied immediately! Peace.

I love Korean shaved ice and this place rates way up there against all the other shaved iced places…read moreI've been here in the states and in Korea. Not only was the flavor amazing (which made me want to return and try them all) but the presentation was definitely instagram worthy. The one negative is that the seating was not plentiful for all their customers but this is definitely not a negative for the owners. That just means they have a great business. Location is in old town so parking might be a challenge.

A Little Cheat Night Never Hurt Nobody!…read more After eating the juiciest chicken ever at Loli Farms, I've been eyeing this dessert spot for a while, and luckily it was only 1.6 miles away. So obviously... dessert was happening. Perfect excuse for a little cheat-night treat! Parking Hack: Don't pay $5 for parking! We parked about 7 minutes away in a parking structure for only $1 for 2 hours. After all the delicious food I inhaled, I definitely didn't mind getting a little extra cardio in. Pasadena parking is definitely doing the most, so parking structure it was! Mango Melon Shaved Ice -- $8.50 | 7.8/10 Mango-flavored shaved ice topped with melon balls and served with a side of milk drizzle. The shaved ice itself was SO soft and fluffy, and the milk drizzle gave it just the right amount of sweetness. The only thing was... I really couldn't taste much mango in the shaved ice. It was pretty subtle, so I wouldn't say this one completely blew me away, but it was still a refreshing treat on a hot summer night. Definitely not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst! Injeolmi Shaved Ice -- $7.50 | 7.7/10 Milk-flavored shaved ice topped with mochi, layers of Injeolmi powder, and more milk drizzle. This was actually our first time trying Injeolmi, so we were curious! The combination of the soft shaved ice, milk drizzle, and nutty Injeolmi powder was really good and made for a fun flavor combination. My only complaint? THE MOCHI. They were soooo tiny! I wanted that satisfying chewy squish, but these little guys basically tasted like mini boba that disappeared the second I bit into them. The shaved ice itself was perfectly soft and honestly the star of both desserts. Inside, there aren't a ton of tables, but luckily we snagged one right when we walked in. And let me tell you... this place had a constant flow of customers the entire hour we were there! People were coming in and out left and right, with only one ordering machine, so expect a little patience if it gets busy. Overall, both shaved ices were pretty decent and made for the perfect little "I already ate too much but I'm still getting dessert" moment. Definitely a nice way to break the diet after our chicken feast! Would I come back? Absolutely, especially to try some of their other shaved ice flavors. Happy desserts!
