Spicy Potato & Cheese Empanada (PO) (vegetarian) Chile Con Carne Empanada (CH)

The food here was amazing!! I was here on a work trip and came two days in a row. Loved the spicy potato and chili con con carne. Service could use some work. You are able to order on a kiosk outside, which I am able to do but an elderly man went to the window and the staff at the window was rude to him saying they were busy. The kiosk is also is very busy and could be easier to navigate.

It's basically a takeout place for empanadas, with only three outdoor tables. The waiting time could be long at rush hours, each empanada costs about $5, and discounted prices if you buy half a dozen or a dozen. I've tried one of their most popular flavors, the Beef Empanada with seasoned ground beef, green olives, potatoes, bell peppers, and spices, and it was quite salty.

We haven't been here for years but it still hit the spot! Can't go wrong starting with this on a Monday.

One of my favorite places to stop for an affordable bite. I'll be honest, I haven't had a bad flavor yet but a few of my favorites are the creamy corn, chili con carne, pepperoni, and the mushroom. The empanadas are made to order (you can also take and bake!)

Nutella and banana empanada

Amazing empanadas quit a selection from meats to vegans I had Beef. Chili con carne and Nutella with bananas . You got to watch the last one you will bit in to a Nutella oozing out of the shell. The Chili con carne had just the right amount of spice. The restaurant is ultra clean and the service was spot on. You can eat outside or pick up to go

Nah fam they might actually be the goat. This place actually makes better pasta than most Italian restaurants. Like it's actually al dente. Wild. The burrito is good too. Where this place shines is the empanadas. The perfect mix of crispy but soft. The stuff is reasonable, the flavors are all there. In the corner of your empanada, they actually press on the initials for what type it is so it's easy to tell later on. You've gotta clean the outdoor seating yourself, like brush off peopes crumbs and the like, but that's cool.

It should be called American Hot Pockets. World of Empanadas should get into the comedy business. Nothing about this place resonates with the namsake. Trying to capitalize off "Empanada Culture" while ignoring how the Latin community operates is a disgrace. Salsa comes with Empanadas. It's an unwritten golden rule. You'd know that I'd this company was truly in touch withr the culture. Get a load of the little container I paid $3.50 for! Two or three little servings of sauce lol what a joke. Empanadas that cost almost $6 bucks! If these people knew anything about the true culture of empanadas they know they should be affordable and that salsa ALWAYS come with it free. The locals are too desensitized to corporate greed to realize this is such a farce.

I saw on a Yelp friend review this place and I wanted to try it. The place is small and I only saw the windows to order and pick up. So I ordered on line and when I got there my order was ready. I really recommend them. They have different flavors, they even have some sweet ones. I ordered 3 of mushrooms and two of the Garbanzo ones. I also ordered some pepperoni and some cheese. They were so warm, flaky, tasty, and delicious. The mushrooms flavor had enough stuffing and the crust very soft and flaky. Any flavor you get they are pretty good. I am just sad that I am so far away from them I don't get to taste them often. I highly recommend this place. They had couple of tables at the street to eat buy mainly this place is to pick up.

We ordered a dozen and chose Beef, chicken pot pie, Santa Fe chicken and Chile Con Carne. Loved how it came with the sauces. I'm not a spicy person at all and the Santa Fe chicken was my favorite. Took about 10 minutes and we waited in the tables in front. I didn't realized there was an inside with tables until someone walked in. We came home and everyone practically devoured it. Only 2 left in the box!

6 pack empanadas
Marie Q.

Delish empanadas. I got the 6 pack. Beef, spicy potato, biscuits and gravy, pizza flavors. The best one was the potato one. Orders are made at the window and they take a few minutes to prepare fresh. The seating is on the sidewalk so it's great for a quick snack or to just take home.

The vegan plate had black beans, white rice, plantains, and a side salad. The bandeja paisa had beans, a fried egg, chicharron, steak, rice, plantain, and chorizo. The meat was perfectly grilled but the chicharron was a little tough but still good. The vegan plate had much flavor -- the beans were tasty and the rice fresh. They were very generous with the plantains. The complimentary tortilla chips and salsa were so fresh and delicious. The spinach empanada was a little tough - it was crispy but there was less spinach than I would have expected and the cheese in it wasn't really melted either. Overall the food was very fresh and delicious. Parking can be tricky bc their lot fits only 3 cars. We parked a couple blocks in the neighborhood. Front of the store parking also seems limited. Service was kind and efficient. Food came out in less than 5-10 minutes. Place is well decorated and has nice seemingly traditional decor inside.

This place got me a bit confused as it is like central market where there are a number of eateries in the building. So took me a bit to orient myself. The whole location is lively and have many small tables around. There was a designated area for people to line up for Holbox. I realized that people were getting seated already. I was seated at the bar. The staff told me that they will start taking orders at 11:30. It was perfect!!! Gave me enough time to ask AI what to get. The waitress came to get my order shortly after they opened. AI recommended getting at least 2 items. Tostada de kanpachi + uni was recommended and Taco de pescado. So I got both. The sea urchin was SOOOOOO buttery. Highly recommend it!! The tostada was sooooooo good also. Gotta eat it while it is still crunchy. There are a lot of fish and a good amount of uni on it. We loved everything we got and loved the garlic sauce they offered us. And for some reason it kept reminding me of one of those spots people go to in movies and shows. After a long day of work, my girlfriend and I were driving around trying to figure out what our…read morestomachs were calling for when we passed this cool little outdoor spot called La Bamba. And of course, as soon as we saw the name, we immediately started singing La Bamba . That was literally what made the place catch our attention. My girlfriend is always quick to pull up Yelp before we commit to somewhere new, so she checked the reviews, saw they weren't too bad, and noticed they served Caribbean food. We turned around and decided, why not? The restaurant itself was a nice little spot. It wasn't overly crowded, but there were enough people there that it still had some energy. Our first impression, though, almost made this review never happen. When we walked in, we stood near the front trying to figure out whether someone was going to seat us or if we were supposed to seat ourselves. There was a woman working at the register who didn't acknowledge us, even when we tried getting her attention. It came across as pretty rude in the moment, and we genuinely considered just walking back out. Eventually, we decided to seat ourselves. That's when David, our waiter, came over and thankfully the service got much better from there. He was attentive, cool with us, and overall gave us a much better impression of the service than how things started. First came the chips and salsa. The chips were a little too hard for our preference, and the salsa itself was pretty bland. We originally wanted to try the ceviche as an appetizer, but after seeing that the price was getting pretty close to entrée territory, we decided to save that money and go straight for our meals. I ordered the La Bamba chimichanga with carne asada. I don't normally like beans inside my burritos, so I substituted double rice, along with cheese and sour cream, with guacamole and pico de gallo on the side. My girlfriend went for the Cuban sandwich, which she was really excited about because she had been craving one. Our food came out surprisingly fast probably within about 10 minutes. My chimichanga was... okay. That's probably the best way I can describe it. It had some flavor, it filled me up, and there wasn't anything specifically terrible about it. It just didn't give me anything that made me think, "I need to come back for this." At around $18, I also would've liked the plate to include some rice and beans on the side. My girlfriend wasn't too impressed with her Cuban sandwich either. She found it pretty dry and thought there was way too much meat compared with the thinner, juicier Cuban sandwiches she's used to having. But somehow, the thing we weren't expecting to care that much about ended up stealing the show: THE FRIES. I don't know exactly what seasoning they're using, but those fries were really good. And the garlic sauce they served with them was even better. We sat there trying to figure out what was in this sauce until one of the chefs happened to walk by. We finally asked him, and after all our investigating, it turned out to basically be garlic, mayo and ketchup. Simple? Absolutely. Did it work? 100%. That combination with those seasoned fries was probably our favorite food of the night. For drinks, I ordered my usual Blue Moon on draft. It was decent, although I've definitely had better. My girlfriend's fruity mocktail was actually the better drink between the two. It was refreshing, a good size, and had this sweet taste with a slightly bitter finish that we both liked. After everything, our bill came to about $73 with tax and tip. That's ultimately where the value started falling short for us. For what we ordered and the quality of the entrées, we both walked away feeling like we expected a little more for the money. That being said, this wasn't some horrible dinner. David was great with us, we liked the casual atmosphere, those fries and that garlic sauce definitely deserve their credit, and my girlfriend and I still had a good time together which is what brought us out in the first place. But if I'm judging La Bamba strictly on the food and experience we had that night, I can't say I'd personally recommend it based on this visit alone. Would I completely write it off? No. There are enough other things on that menu that I'd consider coming back, ordering something completely different, and seeing if round two changes my opinion. For this first visit, 3.5/5 feels fair.

The inside of the restaurant looks awesome, very homey and welcoming. As far as the service goes, the food came out pretty fast, so no complaints there. My mom ordered the Ropa Vieja, and I got the breaded chicken. Now, the breaded chicken itself was amazing! Nice and crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and just really good overall. The rice was also amazing. Unfortunately, this is where the stars started going down for me. Both my mom's and my beans did not taste good at all. They had this weird taste, almost like they were rotten or had gone bad. We asked for new beans, hoping maybe it was just that batch, but somehow the second ones tasted even worse. The fried plantains were also disappointing. They were very dry and had almost no flavor. I was expecting a lot more from them. As for my mom's Ropa Vieja, she said it was just okay. It wasn't bad, but she definitely wasn't blown away by it. I really wanted to like the food here because everything else was great. The staff, the atmosphere, the service, and especially the breaded chicken were all fantastic. So I'm honestly torn between giving this place 3 or 4 stars out of 5. If the majority of the food had been good, I would've had no problem giving it 4 stars. But when almost half of what we ordered didn't taste good, it's hard for me to justify that. With that said, I'm giving Mambo's 3 out of 5 stars. I really hope they improve on some of the food because they definitely have a lot of good things going for them.
