Just got back from this fabulous under $5 meal! Sure, it's in a Liquor store. Sure it looks a little sketch, but once you eat it BAM so good We had the Beef, chicken, Santa Fe, and Spinach. Top ones for me were Santa Fe and Chicken. Santa Fe was a little spicy but that's what I loved about it. one totally filled me up... eat it with the garlic, cerrano sauce man so good. There's no place to sit in there, so my friends and I headed over to Winchells to grab an ice coffee for 1.99. 2.35 empanada + 1.00 ice coffee= BEST CHEAP MEAL OF ALL TIME. The guys were nice enough to hook it up with a salad! The salads were a little plain, wish they had more garnishes.. ie. parmesan for the caesars, but the garlic pasta salad was good for a plain pasta salad.. i'd add sundried tomatoes to that for sure as well.. all in all, so GLAD we found this place. Very amazingly fresh and delicious! read more

The best. I could live on their empanadas. Its my go-to whenever I need to bring food to a party, or order food for my own gatherings. Their selection is amazing, and like every single empanada I've ever tried has been delicious. Great, super-filling breakfast burritos and soups too. My family and I just love this place. read more

These empanadas were very good. The chile con carne was my favorite. The nutella and banana was a great dessert!

I am very happy I stopped in for some empanadas, chile con carne and the ham, cheese, and jalapeño were winners. . They were served piping hot and with a smile from the woman at the counter. Off to the side was their chimi and salsa bar. I immediately went for the chimi and spicy salsa verde, because spicy is the way to go. I sat down and took a bite from my ham and cheese empanada and was very please with the stuffed ingredients. Every single bite had filling. And paired with the sauces, I couldn't decide which one I wanted, so I cut the empanada in half and dipped accordingly to each sauce. The chimi was definitely tangy and soaked in the right amount of herbs and spices. The salsa verde was spicy but not too much that it took away from the enjoyment of the flavors. The chile con carne was just as delicious, and again packed with meat. Flavorful and moist. The crusts were flaky, chewy, and tasty, without the overwhelming oily base. I will definitely be back to try other flavors. read more

While I had been a loyal customer to this establishment when it was located inside a liquor store my feelings have changed a bit. They recently moved to a new location on Magnolia blvd and with that they raised their prices and changed their lunch special. I still find their empanadas very tasty but don't think its a value relative to other empanada establishments. Raising the prices and changing the lunch special feels greedy especially when nothing really changed. Seating is a bench table. read more

Real empanadas , love ham and cheese and the chicken one! Taste like real argentinean empanadas! And dont forget to try after the salty one the one with dulce de leche or Nutella!!!! read more

Jesus Christ. Here we go again. This place- not good. If you have absolutely no idea what empanadas are, or what they should taste like, welcome, this is the perfect place for you. I can't wait to shame everybody that walks into this place with a smile next time I pass by. So, I guess, this place is good for something. read more

Cute little restaurant. Was not really impressed by my order. I got combo the beef empanada and nutella and banana empanada with the pasta as a side. The beef empanada tasted bland to me. The chimcurri sauce is really good and gave it flavor. That definitely saved it. Nothing special about the crust. The nutella and banana empanda tasted was more nutella than banana. But if you like nutella I guess this is for you. Thought it was wayyy too sweet. The horchata was ok too. Not really into it. Mayyyybe I'd try it again some other time but nothing im OMG about. read more

Awesome place for some amazing affordable food. The empanadas are only $2.95 ($4 for the Friday special), and they have meat, vegetarian, and vegan options... dessert ones too! My favorite is the Potato & Cheese, definitely their spiciest because they soak the potatoes in salsa. My kids love the Sponach & Cheese and the Breakfast ones. Great people! read more

This place has been in my Yelp Bookmarks for a while now, and it's only inspired me to get through that veritable backlog even more quickly. Why? Because a huge gem like this can get lost in there, who knows what other treasures there are! World Empanadas is one of those most amazing things in LA: a food joint with adequate parking. Inside, the store is adorned with cute trinkets and the like, but all in all, it's rather plain. But it's this unassuming place that has some of the best empanadas I've ever had. From the usual suspects to their own breakfast-based creations, they offer a wide variety of options. Thankfully, no matter which one you grab, you're guaranteed something delicious. They've also got some housemade horchata and jamaica to round out your meals - you can't miss this! read more

Empanadas are very delicious and size portions are pretty big. I just wish they would somehow have a way to label whats what.

World Empanadas - Burbank, CA World Empanadas is a refreshing little mom 'n pop shop on Magnolia near the border between Burbank and NoHo serving up food and flavor that's hard to find anywhere else despite their singularly-focused menu. POSITIVES: 1. A specialty empanada shop. How enticing. As a meal or a snack, you're good to go. 2. The workers here are really nice and if they don't recognize you, they let you know about the shop, how they started, and what they offer. 3. The decor is simple, cozy, and very hipsterish. There's not a lot of room for a large party; but it seems most people here just get their order to-go. 4. There is a wide variety of empanada flavors to choose from. I tried the beef, the breakfast, the spinach, and the Nutella empanada(s). NEUTRAL: 1. I'm gonna put my subjective taste breakdown of my specific order in this section because some where hits while others were misses. A. Beef Empanada - I ordered this one because it seemed like the "safe bet" order. Like most Americans, I've eaten beef all my life. I thought this one was kind of bland and I don't want to order it again. Bad. B. Breakfast Empanada - Everyone loves breakfast, right? With breakfast burritos being so popular in SoCal, I think this flavor is a smart option to have; I had to try it. The eggs, sausage, and bacon tasted really great; but unfortunately, I don't think the breakfast parts paired well with the empanada crust. Neutral. C. Spinach Empanada - I'm not known for eating healthy, but I needed to try the gamut while I was here. I really liked this empanada and I'm not even a fan of vegetables. It's items like this one that can help people like me bridge the gap from eating unhealthy to eating more-healthy. Great. D. Nutella Empanada - This empanada was physically larger than the other ones and it was packed with flavor. That "flavor punch" is un-original and non-homemade, but damn does nutella taste even more wonderful when packaged in World Empanada's fantastic crust. Great pairing. Bomb. E. Cheese Empanada - While waiting for my order, they offered me a free sample of the cheese empanada. It tasted wonderful and I ate it in one gulp even though I have some lactose-intolerance. Free flavors. My weak stomach. Worth it. RANDOM NOTES: 1. It's kind of a weird thing to comment on, but they have really solid to-go boxes with an elegant and simple design that really complements their hip mom 'n pop interior. Other popular places, like Porto's, that happen to serve similar items have to-go boxes that look nice, but are less solid. With their super-welcoming atmosphere, an easy-to-reach location, and a variety of choices of an uncommon cuisine, World Empanadas is a really great place to visit for the large group of friends, the romantic couple, that solo super foodie, and also for the family filled with kids. I hope this awesome mom n' pop shop is around for a while. read more

Ladies and gentlemen and kids of all ages. This is the BOMB! My first time having empanadas, I had the BEEF and HAM & Cheese for starters and the flavor on these things are AMAZING! I went with my friend because she just would not stop bugging me and She loved it as well. She has the Spinach and cheese and a SOY Chorizo. To top this ANTRE-PROLIFIC EMAPANDA EXPERIENCE their Cimichurri OMG, green salsa OH man! and their tomato salsa "I can't WAIT" to dip it with chips is bloody good. On that not, thank you to the EMANADA HEAVENS for introducing me to this wonderful place. read more

Food is good but service I had to question, must be an off day. Over charge and then tell me it's tax. Then I show them the tax on the receipt along with the extra charge, then she gives me cash to refund but didn't say sorry for the mistake. It's all good I get it, very busy tons of people and hard to hear orders ect no prob. read more

Customer service 4*; very good customer service, always smiling, however, they did mix up my order once and simply apologized rather than providing me with my original order ( I did find out after I had a bite, since that is the only way to find out ). I was a little disappointed to be honest, however, mistakes do happen, I just do not think they tackled it correctly. Fresh 5*: The ingredients, freshness and quality is superb Rewards: they are connected to "FiveStars" do make sure you sign up when you go in and you will be eligible to collect points and rewards. Price & Portion comparison 4*: I do find it to be a little overpriced, as the content of the ingredients/portions inside tend to be very little and hardly adequate for an actual portion. read more

This place....AMAZING! I was so obsessed at one point I would literally want it every single day. My favorite is the Santa Fe. Omg it's soo good! And then they give tou this a sauce and it's even BETTER with it. They have so many options! The empanadas are made soo well. I was never a huge empanada fan until I tried this place. Everyone is really nice too! read more

Great little place for a quick lunch or takeouts, these freshly made empanadas are my favorite in the area!

All empanadas are not created equal. And the empanadas these guys create are dangerously delicious. Addicting. Most of the empanadas I have tried from other places are made to look big and plump, but they are very stingy on the filling. These empanadas are not stingy at all. You will get a full mouth watering bite until the very end. If you're still reading, stop it and check for yourself already! My three favorite empanadas are: Chile Con Carne. Beef. And Dulce de Leche. OMG, they are so good. I'm hoping they open a closer location to Highland Park soon. HP needs them. read more

I stopped by the other day for lunch and was so upset to see they were closed!!! Then I read the sign explaining why they were closed and was so pleased to read they were closed in support of a Day Without Immigrants. Not only are the empanadas amazing, so are the proprietors. Happy to say I got to enjoy their soup and empanadas the next day. The Santa Fe chicken and chile con carne are my favorite. read more

Was looking forward to great tasting empanadas. I've driven by this place many times and decided to give it a try. With so many good reviews on Yelp, I dragged my family to this place on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. We ordered 4 different kinds of empanadas and none were good. Boring pastry and not very good fillings. No one in my family liked the empanadas. In fact, the tortilla soup was the best part of the meal. Either I have no idea what a good empanada tastes like or most of the reviewers are fake for this place. I really wanted to like this place but I just can't. Also, the customer service was not great. read more

The most delicious little empanadas in LA. When you come you just have to order one of each and pig out. Nicest staff ever and the shop is super clean and cozy. I'm almost never in Burbank but this place is a good enough reason to drive out at least once a week! read more

My husband brought me up some lunch from this little place a few days ago. We have driven by several times but never actually have eaten there. I got a ham, cheese, and jalapeno empanada, and a breakfast empanada. They were both very good, but when I saw how much they were each, I was a little taken aback. I thought it was a little over priced, like how I would feel if I had paid that much money for a cupcake. However, they were delicious, and I can't wait to try other empanadas. The first one on my list to try is the banana and nutella! read more

I love their empanadas I think that says it all for my review. They make them very flavorful, decent amount of filling and the dough is also delicious. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Empanadas were okay, I really liked the fillings but I'm not a huge fan of their dough. I definitely prefer the dough at Porto's. Also their drinks were so good!! Their Jamaica was amazing (: read more

Great family run business. Walked in and saw the wonderful display of empanada's. Asked a few questions and the young man was so informative. Ordered 15 at $2.75 a pop. Favorites include the Santa Fe Chicken and the Spinach and Cheese. The ones that say "spicy" are truly spicy. One note.... Their Empanada's are baked not fried so the texture was a little different than I've had. read more

So disappointed. I have been to this place a couple of times before. So, I returned again for a late lunch of two empanadas and an order of tortilla soup, I got the order to go. What can I say. The food was not terrible. But it was not all that great either, certainly nothing you would make a special trip for, as I chose to do. The soup was not really soup at all, for there was hardly any broth. Just a pile of cooked, tasteless vegetables. Mainly corn, and what might have been cut up squash, or possibly cabbage, possibly onions. I could not even tell it was so lacking in flavor. The empanada crust was fine as far as it went, the filling was very bland. So, if you go to get full, and have no other expectation, this place will do. If you are looking for an interesting taste experience, or just some real flavor, this is not the place. So sorry. From my recollection, this place used to be a great deal better, that is what brought me to return again. I have reflected on why the food was so very bland and lacking in flavor. In truth I suspect it reflects lack of care. The person who prepared the soup must not even have tasted it. That is my guess. The same is the likeliest explanation for why the empanada fillings in two different empanadas also was very bland. Somebody is just going through the motions. Too bad. read more

Accidentally discovered this place on their second day at their new location (thanks to the guy twirling a sign outside). Amazing empanadas! That's all i have to say. Update: August, 2015 Their burritos are AMAZING! I ask for light filling otherwise it's huge and messy. read more

Don't order the breakfast burrito unless you want cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla. Go to corner cottage instead and get yourself a real breakfast burrito. Empanadas are good stick with that. Hibiscus tea was good service was friendly. Breakfast burrito was terrible. I took 4 or 5 bites and threw the rest directly into the garbage where it belongs. read more

Great experience here! The staff is really friendly, the inside is small but quaint, and the empanadas are awesome! My friend and I LOVED all the vegan options here. The vegan burrito was really good, I just wish they were made to order and not pre-made. Regardless, I would return! read more

No I'm not big on empanadas. But this place empanadas were really good. I really like the beef empanada and the practice empanada. I think they should open up a little earlier so people can get the breakfast empanadas on the way to work and school. They have a large and delicious selection of empanadas, including sweet empanadas! The banana and Nutella sweet empanada was soooo yummy!

Came to a taping of the voice and we got here a little early. Opened my trusty yelp app and saw this place and it was the best decision made that day. I had their lunch special which includes 3 empanadas and a salad. The only downside is its in this little liquor store so there's really no seating aside from a few stools and a countertop. The food was really good and hot, potato was my fave!!! I wish there was one in riverside read more

Only came for dessert - all the empanadas are 3.72 - ran out of the dulce de leche(most popular). - mixed berry one is vegan and similar to a berry pop tart or berry pie. My bf liked the tart/sweet combo and ate the whole thing - Nutella/banana was the best of the two. Warm and gooey, and definitely made a huge mess. Is there any other way to eat an empanada? read more

I always pass by this place and was so curious to try! Because yelp had it at almost 5 stars I tried it today! Honestly, it was very disappointing:(. I really want this to be my new spot! I got the beef empanadas and every bite tastes like olive. The potato inside of it is very bland. Save your coin and take it to Porto's instead where you can rely on some good tasting empanadas. It also doesn't help that each empanada at this place is $3.00! So I'm now throwing away $9 worth of food :( read more

This place is an empanada heaven!!! I love their lentil & quinoa vegan Empanada, my other favorites are the chicken, biscuit & gravy, Nutella & banana. Their empanadas are baked to perfection (light & flaky), that's right not fried like others. They offer chimichurri and other sauce but I eat it plain because it's absolutely delicious even without the sauce. I've ordered as much as 100 empanadas from this place in the last few weeks (for a party and they all loved it). That's how good it is!!! If you are in the area, stop in and try their yummy empanadas, I guarantee you won't regret! Ambiance: Great Food: Delicious Service: Good (one lady behind the counter with pharmaceutical blonde hair doesn't smile much, she doesn't look friendly, but I think she's ok) The lady with dark hair is absolutely darling, I always hope she's at the counter each time I'm there!!! read more

This place is amazing. I'm mad at myself for not eating here sooner. I'm used to different looking empanadas so I was like no way is this place gonna be good, Boy was I wrong. There are so many good flavors and choices it really just depends on your preference. I love the Sante Fe, my friend loved the cream corn. I also think its pretty reasonably priced because 3 empanadas is definitely a meal. Overall fantastic place. read more
