Fresh and tasty. I picked up three of their empanadas: chicken, beef and spinach and cheese, while my girlfriend had their vegan soy chorizo and mushroom and cashew cheese. All were flavorful and did not disappoint. W/ the chimichurri sauce, you can't go wrong. We'll be back for more. read more

Empanadas? Yes. Breakfast burritos? Nah. Let me just say, the spinach and cheese empanada with chimi sauce is reason enough to visit. The other empanadas are solid in their own right. The ones with potato have a savory seasoning that pops, and the creamy corn makes for a nice appetizer, while you wait. Lol. We tried that sausage burrito, and just felt the proportions were off. Too much sausage and cheese, compared to very little potato, egg, and no salsa. If you just want a pound of sausage and cheese, you'll love this. But if you want a balanced burrito, just sack up and wait in line at Corner Cottage. When I put some of their green salsa on the burrito, it did improve a bit, but was just a little heavy for my taste. But let's remember, this is an empanada place. Stick to those, and you'll do great! read more

I'm obsessed with their empanadas, I'm vegan and they have so many options for us as well! It's such a great little place to grab a quick bite to eat, the hibiscus tea drink is pretty refreshing as well! If you feel like treating yourself I definitely recommend the berry flavor, it's like eating a jelly filled donut but better. read more

Awesome place! Didn't know this existed in Burbank! I was referred to this place by a friend. They have a lot choices to choose from. My favorite is the breakfast empanadas. read more

They have some delicious flavors and some not so much. The Santa Fe chicken and Chile Con Carne are probably my to go ones. I usually save room for a nutella one for dessert. I'm not a fan of their lunch special salads which is why I just order individual pieces. I usually go during lunch which isn't the best idea. This place is more for getting a snack before dinner or something. read more

I get a weekly craving for empanadas and this is my go to place. Excellent food and I love the variety especially vegan options. Definitely 5 stars! read more

World Empanadas - Latin American Near Me - Burbank, California

World Empanadas has only been in business for about a month, and I'm so glad that a co-worker introduced me to these goodies, because I would not have known that this even existed in Burbank! It's actually located in a liquor store, so it's easy to miss at first glance. But you gotta stop by and try these out! I enjoyed these way more than the empanadas at Portos! Their empanadas are baked, not fried. I usually find the pastry of baked empanadas dry and tough. World Empanadas are flaky, tender, and taste just as decadent as a fried empanada. And they're packed with flavor. They have a selection of six different kinds of empanadas with beef, chicken, veggies, ham, cheese. I tried three so far: - Beef - ground beef, onions, potatoes, peas, green olives, sauteed with lemon juice and spice mix. I usually find beef empanadas too salty because of the addition of green olives. This one from World had a great balance of flavors. - Spinach - thought I'd give a veggie empanada a try. This one has fresh spinach sauteed with fried garlic, lemon zest, and baked with mozzarella cheese. It definitely had a fresh, bright flavor to it, but I would have appreciated a little more cheese. I love love love fried garlic, but I think the delightful crunch I love about it got lost in the baking process. - Ham & Cheese - great combination of ham, cheese, and jalapenos! This one was my favorite hands down! I'd eat this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! They have an affordable Lunch/Dinner Special that gives you a lot of bang for your buck. You get 3 empanadas of your choice and a side salad for $6.75. Very filling, and a great way to try different kinds of empanadas. For my side, I had a choice between getting a Caesar salad or pasta salad. I chose the pasta - al dente rotini, swathed in a dressing that was prominent with garlic or shallot. Although tasty, it kinda left me wanting something more than dressed pasta, like the addition of some sun-dried tomatoes, black olives, or a sprinkling of some parmesan cheese. Overall, I love what's coming out of this kitchen. I'll definitely be back to try the other kinds of empanadas! read more

I've lived in Burbank for years and never even heard of this place. One day my mistress at work (just kidding, she's a friend) told me all about this place. I Yelped this place out and my stomach grumbled immediately at the sight of these flaky orgasmic little concoctions. So I did what any sane person would, drove as fast as I could to this place. Man oh man. Seeing the empanadas in person filled me up already. The smell was infectious. I tried the ham and cheese with jalapeño and my oh my. Heaven in your mouth. I've already told several of my friends. I will definitely come back for more. Great food, great service and super cheap! read more

::Joan Rivers voice:: Can we talk about these empanadas? I went to World Empanadas today for some din din. I ordered a dozen empanadas: 2 Santa Fe, 2 spicy potato and cheese, 2 creamy corn, 3 beef, and 3 chicken. They were all so flavorful and filling! I ate 5 back-to-back without moving from my couch! If you asked me to pick my favorite I would tell you that's like picking a favorite child or Paul Rudd movie... I LOVE THEM ALL EQUALLY! Hooray for my new favorite local place to eat! Actually, "Clueless" is my favorite Paul Rudd movie, now that I really think about it. read more

One of my new favorite places. Not good for the waistline but so good for the soul. They call this place World Empanadas but they should call it Empanada heaven because the aroma, flavor, and look of these little clouds are so heavenly! read more

I've been to this place 3 times. The first time I ordered one cheese & spinach empanada and nothing went wrong, it was overpriced but delicious. Second time I went I ordered 4 empanadas, they charged me for 5 and gave me 5. Two were what I actually ordered the other 3 were just randoms. Also, I asked the lady which were what and she looked at me like I was stupid for not knowing. I don't have empanada X-ray vision. I need to know what's what. I guess they don't even know since they screwed up my order. The last time I went we waited 20 minutes and hadn't gotten our order. Finally, I went and asked about it. They said it would be right up. Then, at that point they realized my order was not in their system so they added it. Took another 10-15 minutes gave me my order and didn't ever even say "sorry you had to wait so long." So point of my story is...this places customer service sucks and their only good empanada-from the 6 flavors I've tried-is the cheese & spinach. Also, they are blatantly over priced. If you want someplace that will get your order right, with good customer service, good empanadas, and reasonable prices, go to Cafe Tamal or any Argentine restaurant. read more

I work at at marketing firm right around the corner from world empanadas so me and my co worker have been wanting to try it for quite some time. We decided to try it on our break. Since it was our first time we winged it and ordered the spinach and cheese empanada and the sante fe chicken empanada. While we were ordering and having a friendly conversation with the owner, we caught a staff member making what looked to be like a pizza, right in front of our eyes. AN EMPANADA PIZZA! The curiosity killed us so of course we had to ask what it was. The owner said it was just lunch for him and the staff. I was ready to order one at this point if I could but it's obviously not on the menu. We said our good byes and left the establishment with our empanadas in hand. While at a crosswalk walking back to the office, the owner runs out of his restaurant holding the empanada pizza me and my co worker were eyeing the whole time we were there! I couldn't believe the customer service I was experiencing. Not only did he chase us down when we could have been long gone, but he gave us a sample of something that nobody has ever tried there. That made us feel really special. Not to mention the empanadas were ridiculously good! Highly recommend this place. 5 stars from me. read more

The empanadas were big and come with choice of sauces. I gave 4 stars because I had better. I tried the beef, carne con chile, and chicken.

Went here for the first time yesterday. I have had many empanadas. The ones I tasted here were like little tiny pockets of heaven. Soo good like a dance party in my mouth. Will return whenever I'm in town. I brought some home and they were just as good for breakfast. read more

Chicken empanadas were good, beef empanadas were ok and the spinach and cheese tastes like they forgot the cheese. I also tried the dulce de leche which tasted like chicken and beef empanadas, I guess they cook them all together it tasted nasty. The service was poor. The guy at registered looked annoyed to be there. Poor customer service, I hadn't even tried the food and it already left a bad taste in my mouth. Definitely not going back =\ read more

Enough can't be said about how delicious these Empanadas are. I just happened upon this place one day when I was in the area looking for a new car and I am so glad that I discovered this place. Even though I live an hour away, I still make the trip up to Burbank whenever I'm craving empanadas. They are that good. I would highly suggest trying their Spinach and Cheese + Nutella and Banana Empanadas. The owners have crafted something very special and I hope they start opening up multiple locations! If you're in the area, I would HIGHLY suggest stopping by World Empanadas. read more

Love this place. Best empanadas ever! They have both savory and sweet. Great lunch combo! Awesome sides as well.

Wonderful assortment of excellently prepared empanadas estilo Argentino... The Masa (dough) was prepared and cooked perfectly and the choice of fillings is impressively accommodating to anyone's palate and dietary needs (Quinoa? Corn?). We tried 5 fillings and all were wonderful in their own way. Their Pino (Beef stew filling) is convincing even if not my own remembrance of Chilean Pino from my childhood. Some have written negatively about its location in a liquor store, but any avid eater will recognize the signs of real restaurant craft past the humble surroundings... The cheerfully painted counter to eat at by the window, the lovely and carefully prepared takeout boxes... The thoughtful menu and the pies themselves "coded" with special folds or shapes to denote the filling inside make this a fun and delicious experience with the added charm of its secret unexpected location. read more

I was really excited to try their empanadas because I've tried so many varieties in LA. Bought a mix of beef, chicken, and ham & cheese with chimichurri. Paid almost $30 for it. What a disappointment! My whole family didn't like them. Beef tasted liked plain boiled beef with pepper. Chicken was tolerable. Ham & cheese had cheap cheese. Bummer! read more

If your looking for a quick lunch spot this is the place. They have a wide variety of different flavors and cater to vegan and vegetarian guests exceptionally well. I recommend the biscuits and gravy, Santa Fe chicken, bean and cheese, creamy corn, and pinto beans and rice empanadas. Oh and the lentil soup is delicious. Lastly the food is baked to order so it takes on average 10-12 minutes for your order to finish so I think this is the perfect place to pickup on the various food service apps that exist. read more

I tried the cashew cheese and mushroom + chicken empanada. Both were $7.45. I am glad I tried only two. The price does not match the quality. The first one tasted off, in every way-- flavor, texture and proper balance (filling and crust). The chicken empanada: the worst I have ever tasted and I have had the Argentine and Filipino styles, so I do have a basis for comparison. Price: too high. Flavor profile: not good at all. Service: curt and hurried. Parking: tough. read more

Great spot with fast service! Love to get at least one savory and one sweet option for lunch.

I'm craving some empanadas...but can't go back to this place. Last time I was there, the young male behind the counter asked me if I wanted a receipt. I said no....so he proceeded to charge me a different amount. I saw him key in $12.00 instead of my amount...it was $11.something. I asked him why he keyed in something different and he said - oh, we round up. I know that was crap, and it's no fault of the company, but when you lose a customer's trust, you lose a customer. The empanadas lost their touch a year or so ago...so my craving will fade. read more

Very disappointed!!!! I called in an order at 1:00PM and the person on the phone who took my order told me 15 minutes. I sent someone to pick it up at 1:15 and it is now 1:35 and he just got the dozen Empanadas! More than half of lunch break was spent waiting around, completely unacceptable!! Here's a tip to the owners: If it's going to take 35 minutes to make the Empanadas, tell the customer to come in 35 minutes so no time is wasted waiting around!! Completely unacceptable!! As far as how the food taste, the one I had was actually pretty good. Unfortunately, I was only able to eat 1 (Spicy Santa Fe) since I had to run out to go to a 2 PM meeting. Would I go back again? Probably.....I'd just call in an hour ahead of time or maybe as soon as they open to tell them I'm picking up at a certain time. read more

World Empanadas - Amazing with Chimichurri - Latin American Near Me - Burbank, California

Your empanadas cost $2.75 each. So why was i charged $6 for two? Are you that desperate for money that you have to scam your customers? Sorry, but $2.75 for a small pie is rather pricey as it is. I don't think i should be scammed by your lousy workers out of my 50 cents. The guy who served me was kind of a shady character. So if you are planning to buy something from this business make sure you look at the prices, count your change . Watch your purse ( you never know). Update: Next time before calling your customer "ignorant" take some time to learn that MOST businesses do not charge 9% tax on hot bakery goods which are sold TO GO. If you are the unfortunate one who on top of your high price have to charge 9% sales tax, be so kind and write it on your menu - $2.75 + tax. And get into the habit of giving sales receipts to your customers. Don't worry i will never come to your store again. I don't want to pay $3 for a pie that would cost me .99 cents in McDonalds and .30 cents if i make it at home. read more

I tried this place several months ago and liked the empanadas. The ham and cheese had good flavor and the dough was cooked just right but I noticed on my 1st visit that the guy helping me didn't look very clean and made me 2nd guess my choice but it was ok, no food poisoning and I went back for some yesterday. When I walked in the counter was covered in crumbs, a different guy was behind the counter and wasn't very friendly. My other half was irritated by his lack of a greeting and the dirty counter and we walked through the liquor store and out the door. Impressions are everything when you walk in to buy food. Note to restaurant, put a smile on and clean your counter tops. read more

"Em-pan-a-das!" VERY vegan-friendly empanada place! Woot woot! They have 3 savory vegan empanada varieties and one dessert empanadas variety. Well, if it's only one, is it a "variety"? At any rate, have I mentioned this place serves empanadas yet? I just like saying "empanadas!" It rhymes with enchiladas---well, not really, but they have the same number of syllables and both start with "e" and end in "das." We tried the following empanadas: 4 quinoa and lentils empanadas (they were so inexpensive we figured we'd just order up!) and 4 pinto beans and rice empanadas. We also got 2 vegan tortilla soups. Everything was super tasty, hearty and filling! The empanadas came with some empanada dipping things---I think one was a chimichurri which my wife liked and I didn't care for--too oily, and then some very zippy salsas---green tomatillo and salsa fresca, which we both loved on our empanadas. Also the different flavor empanadas each had their own little empanada shape and architecture, so if you know your shapes, you'll always know what you're about to bite into, right here at this empanada restaurant. In addition, they're just so cute and pretty---the empanadas, that is. They just look nice--like little golden turnovers that the Pillsbury Doughboy dropped down your chimney as an early Christmas present. After the empanadas, the soup was tasty too, but the star of the show for me was the empanadas. I talked to 2 empanada guys on the phone and both were very friendly, helpful and generous with their empanada information. In summation: how lucky are we to have such an excellent empanada emporium in Burbank, ready to empanada-size anyone who wants any, with enough empanadas to satisfy the hungriest empanada appetite! This restaurant is the real enchilada! read more

I tried the straight up chicken empanada and the spicy chicken empanada. I found the chicken & filling to be of better than average quality & freshness but, not for a sophisticated palate. The dough had much to be desired. I cant finding love in dried dough and found the ratio of dough to filling uncomfortable( a common mistake). if your really hungry, and are comfortable with clean and slightly better than average empanadas-World Empanadas may fit the bill. If your looking for a diamond in the ruff it is not-not yet. If you are really looking for special empanadas you'll always Jones for and that will break your willpower to budget your calories then continue searching. We Will revisit this place in another six months. Fixing the dough may certainly deserve the granting of another star. read more

Who knew we'd find good grub in a Liquor Store? I got the combo (3 empanadas + side salad) - Potato, Santa Fe Chicken and Beef Con Carne (they didn't have regular Beef that day, it was a spicy blend) The chicken and the beef were made up of big meaty chunks (sometimes it's cut up into a slurry, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out this had big pieces!) The potato was like a mashed potato mix, but...a little spicy. Not a lot, but a little bit of a kick. Got chimmichuri salsa to go with, a little more watery than I normally like, but all in all, pretty tasty. I WOULD recommend calling ahead to check that the empanadas are made (and what flavors he has in stock) as they get quite busy and can be out-of-stock. read more
