Came here for lunch, and was surprised at how good their food is. Going to come back again with the family.

The empanadas are actually excellent! And I'm argentine. I should know. Plus the owner was a gym, he gave me and my wife to beautiful espressos the tasted delicious. Also, there are constantly expanding their empanada options which are all tasty and interesting. I love the place. read more

Stopped here after looking up a small Mexican type restaurant on my Next Exit app for a late lunch. A real nice find. Mom and pop / Indie feel that specializes in empanadas. Great variety with something for everyone - from carnivores to vegans. I had a vegan tortilla soup which was very tasted and nicely spiced. I tried two different empanadas - one was with spinach and cheese, the other a mushroom/vegan cheese (from cashews I believe) option. Which there was a place like this where I live (I was just passing through town). A very enjoyable lunch. read more

Great little spot. The empanadas are very good however I actually come here for the breakfast burrito. It is one massive & delicious burrito that is very underrated. The sausage they use with their house salsa make it one of the breakfast burritos i ever had. read more

The lunch/dinner special is a great deal, 3 empanadas and a small caesar or pasta salad for $6 something. So far, I only had a spicy potato empanada, a spinach empanada, a beef empanada, and a caesar salad, all very good. The second time I had a spicy potato empanada, the potatoes weren't cooked enough for my taste. But, the dough is way better than Porto's empanadas by far, and not greasy like Lala's on Ventura Blvd. You can tell these guys take great pride in their product. It's easy to drive past. It's connected to a liquor store, so look for that. It's take out only. But, it's a must try. read more

I went in looking for a sandwich and was met by the chef who asked whether I'd had one of their empanadas yet. No, lets try one of each, why not? Light flaky pastry with delicious filling; each was a beautiful flavor bomb baked with loving care. Not the least bit greasy and ideal for feeding a scout troop or team after a game. Give this place a try. It's in the back of a liquor store but totally worthy for a good meal. read more

This place is awesome! There is a nice selection of different empenadas all of which are tasty. The outter pastry crust is delicious and flakey. The different salsa and chimichurrie are both flavorful. The most important part is that it's cheap. You get plenty for 7 bucks. Well worth the trip. could have better seating but when it moves locations, hopefully that changes. read more

I came across this place because I was referred by my friend. Let me start by telling you this place is amazing. Best empanadas I have ever had hands down. They are the perfect blend of spices. Friendly staff/owners. Wonderful food. The fillings are savory and wonderful but the crust really makes them. Often, empanadas will be wrapped in dough that is too tough, too thick, too hard. The dough at World Empanadas is structurally sound yet flaky, light, and pliable. I would absolutely go out of my way to return. So glad that we stopped in today for lunch. I had the spicy ham and cheese, spicy chili con carne, and the spicy chicken santa fe. All three were delicious! read more

Just ate lunch there and I would like to eat lunch there...for the rest of my life. Lunch combo 2 empanadas with soup and a drink. First the simple stuff: Tortilla soup-just the way I like it. Chock full of veggies, not creamy, total comfort. To drink: Hibiscus horchata. I need a heart emoji for that one. I had never eaten here before so I asked for a recommendation- I got the spinach and cheese and santa fe chicken. The Santa Fe chicken had a little zip but nothing crazy. The filling in both was exactly what it should be. What puts it over the top for me are 2 things: 1. The empanada dough itself- slightly crispy, but mostly bready. Warm and delicious. The salsas 2. I got chimi and a red salsa Dump a little of those on ohhhEVERYTHING. It's the icing on the cake. The cherry on top. The sauce on the empanada. I'll be back to try the rest. read more

YUM!!! I always passed by this place on my way home from shopping so I decided to stop in. The man behind the counter was really nice and when I told him what I liked he made WONDERFUL reccomendations. My favorite was the chili con carne, ham and cheese, and the spinach!! read more

I just want to say, I am a fan of empanadas and hand pies in general... and I was super excited to see that World Empanadas was pretty close to where I work so I decided to take a stroll and walk there today. It did not disappoint. The shop is very cute inside. 1 communal table and 2 wall counters. I kind of wish that communal table was placed another way because it was very cramped trying to sit at the counters so I ended up sitting outside. It was warm today so the ac would have been nice. It is very bright and welcoming though so plus there. I tried the biscuits and gravy empanada (I KNOW! It was delicious!) and then the chicken, which was also yummy. The combo meal is the way to go: 2 empanadas, salad and a drink! So worth it. I am going to have to go back and try the other fillings because they had like 10 fillings to choose from. The guy at the register just seemed kind of tired and not in a good mood. I mean, he wasn't horrible but he also wasn't feeling working at the register. So, I hope he is having a better day. Overall, pretty delicious and I hope they don't spit on my next order when I go in because I said the guy was tired... read more

Ok- what can I say but Delish!!!! They are my favorite healthy quick meal on the go - breakfast empanadas are out of this world. I enjoy the spicy chicken empanadas! The sauces are great!!!! I recommend this place - Burbank's hidden secret - but now the cat is of the bag read more

Awesome vegetarian and vegan options. I got the empanada combo with the potato and cheese empanada, soyrizo empanada and vegan tortilla soup. The tortilla soup had a kick and was delicious. All of it was amazing and would definitely recommend! read more

My google review from 2 months ago: I've been searching for my dog, and a lead led me here... I originally came to just sus it out. Didn't mean to actually try anything as I recently went raw-ish/ vegan (besides Greek yogurt). Going in, I realized it would be weird if I didn't order anything. So I ordered a random side dish--still just sussing out the place in clues for my dog. The man (who turned out to be the owner) asked me if I had tried the empanadas--I said I hadn't, and he gave me a "how dare you" face (jokingly) and I explained I was vegan. He said "we have vegan empanadas!" -- oh, well in that case... give me the mushroom/ nut cheese one, to go. I dish out some salsa and the traditional empanada sauce (idk what it's called). The order comes up. I go to my car, a little disheartened to not find any clues about my doggo, but to keep up my energy, I start to eat.... and holy wow! Maybe it's because I hadn't eaten anything hot in 4 weeks but this empanada was heaven in my mouth. The salsa was balanced, and the traditional dip that I can't remember the name of was perfect. I feel like other places "water" it down with extra oil--not them. Perfect balance of oil and seasoning. It's been another two weeks, and I'm still looking for my dog, but I went back again for two of these mushroom/nut cheese empanadas. The crust is golden and perfectly flakey. They were large, and perfectly balanced on the inside... And the two cost me $7 and some change. I'm always looking for the silver lining in any bad situation... and in the case of my missing/stolen dog, finding this place is one of them. P.S. the raw vegan thing didn't last for more than a couple months. But I would still opt for those mushroom but cheese empanadas. read more

Amazing Argentinian food! Breakfast burritos are bomb. They now make fresh pasta - reminds me of Buenos Aires.

A friend was ordering take out and offered to pick me up a couple to test out. She's always on the lookout for vegan friendly items at places she regulars and gets excited for me. I have amazing friends! Anyway, this isn't the place to review friends. How funny would that be though! So back to it. Got to try the cashew and mushroom empanada and the quinoa and lentil. The spices tasted good but both were a bit too salty for my taste and threw the rest of the flavors off. I'd probably give the cashew one another go if the opportunity presented itself. I also think maybe I would have enjoyed the empanadas more if I ate at the restaurant instead of ordering take out. I followed the directions on the box for heating up/cooking them but I don't think either came out the way they should have. The dough felt like it could have used more time in the oven. User error perhaps? read more

This is a cute little place that has amazing empanadas. I ordered a couple of meat, vegetarian, and vegan empanadas and all of them had great flavor. The staff was friendly too! read more

Empanadas when done right have a hint of crunchy bite to the crust on the outside, filled with savory delights on the inside, and leave you in a blissful state of happiness inside and out after eating a good one. Unfortunately, this place isn't the place to go to to find empanadas made like that. The empanadas are handmade - which is great, but their oven baked textures are soft and don't have that requisite crunch that comes from a good empanada crust. I tried the potato and onion, as well as the spinach and cheese. The spinach and cheese is the most popular while the potato and onion is the spicier veggie option. The potato was lacking in the mixture and it was hard to find anything spicy once you got into the filling. The spinach looked blended and lacked flavor. The chimichurri sauce, which is one of my favorite condiments, was extremely watery and again lacked any flavor or texture that gives the sauce the tangy bite that I was craving. I am appreciative of the fact that each one is handmade; hence, the three star rating vs. two star rating. If you are desperate for an empanada fix and have nothing closer or better, this may sate the palate for a brief moment, but it will do nothing to quench that craving. The hunt continues for that elusive great empanada in Los Angeles. read more

Great food!!!! Will definitely go here again and they were so fast at putting together my large order very quickly!

Omg...I just ate 4 Vegan Empanads & im literally STILL craving more! I'm vegan so when I found this place on Yelp and said "Hooooold on. VEGAN empanadas?! Come to momma!" The spices inside are a nice burst of flavor, along with the perfectly warm, crispy-edged yet soft empanada crust was out of this world, as far as the texture. They said they do indeed cook the vegan Empanads in a separate oil fryer than the meat. From now on, when my family goes to Portos, you know I'm taking my butt down the street to World Empanadas. I got the Bean & Rice Empanads . + the Quinoa Empanads. Soooooooo good...I'll probably buy the 1 Dozen Pack of Empanads and freeze what I don't eat immediately, for later. read more

DELICIOUS. I'm not vegetarian (by any means), but I could easily be vegetarian if I could eat World empanadas every day. I don't work too far from this place, so I came by and grabbed a lunch box (2 empanadas, green goddess salad and agua fresca). The best lunch for under $10! The spinach and cheese was so creamy and the empanadas aren't too heavy. The sweet corn was my absolute favorite, especially with their house chimichurri sauce. The green goddess dressing on the salad was packed with flavor, too. I also snuck a spicy potato and cheese into the order, just for kicks, and I'm so glad that I did. The spice on the empanada was just hot enough to make me take notice, but it never overwhelmed the other incredible flavors. I couldn't recommend this place enough, especially if you're too lazy to drive to Culver City for Gran Casino (like me)! read more

We were finally able to try out World Empanadas and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is clean and the decor is really cute. Seating is available both inside and outside and you can watch the empanadas being made over the counter. There were so many options in the display case that it was difficult choosing just one, so obviously we tried several options: Meat, chile con carne, chicken, spicy beef, biscuits and gravy, pinto beans & rice, nutella & banana and mixed berry. The standouts? To my amazement, biscuits & gravy, pinto beans & rice and the BERRY! I thought I only liked the meat empanadas. Who knew? I can't stop craving the berry empanada. It's like a fresh baked pie and the dough is amazing! There is also a salsa bar with three options. You must try the salsa. There was only one thing that bothered me about my visit. I told the employee that it was our first time visiting the restaurant and I asked for suggestions and by the time we were finished ordering, we ordered twelve. My total was around $44 for the dozen. As soon as I finished paying my husband told me they offered a dozen assorted empanadas for $36.72. Why wouldn't the employee mention this to us being that it was our first visit? I asked the employee if they offered an assorted dozen for $36.72 and it was confirmed, but there was no effort to adjust the amount of what we paid. read more
