I am a regular customer and typically love coming here, I am a huge fan of the Hobo Hash and I was excited today for it. Until it took a turn for the worst... My hobo hash comes out and I began eating until I noticed a nice little black hair that did not belong to me nesting gently upon one of my home fries, the little guy startled me so bad that I lost my appetite and left a good amount of my hobo to be consumed by the trash. I am unsure when the next time I will be back because it was a traumatic experience, so for the time being, Broken Yolk let this loyal customer get away. read more

A place open at 6a.m. for breakfast! I have been eating there for a couple time since it opened no long ago... It was always packed during lunch time on the weekends whenever I go. Lunch menu doesn't serve during weekends though. I have had their "The Motherload" with Biscuits&gravy with 2 sausage links, 2 bacon strips, 2 eggs, hash browns and toast. I liked it! Especially, their jam in ketchup bottle, I can add as many as I want!! =) This is one of the restaurants I have been that is "kid friendly".. We went on a busy Sunday morning. Wait time was only 6 minutes, except they won't seat you if your whole party isn't present. Which seems silly to me. I would've ordered my mimosas while waiting. We had simple breakfasts of eggs, hash browns and bacon, as well as a hobo hash. All were very underwhelming. The hash had almost no flavor to it, which is bad considering there is so much in it. Very bland. My friend asked for extra crispy hashbrowns and they were barely warm, let alone crispy. Service was good, thus the 3 stars. I doubt I'll go back. read more

Five of us came in at an extremely busy time and only had to wait about 10 minutes for seating which was expected to take about an hour based on the looks of the environment. Absolutely terrible service. The food was unseasoned . The eggs were undercooked. The wait staff was standing around talking with each other while folks waited at the door for tables to be cleaned. There was ONE young dark haired gal bussing tables and working her butt off, but the rest of the staff ignored them. Our waiter, who looked like something out of a bad 60s hippie nightmare with high dreads and many piercings and extremely baggy pants, disappeared shortly after delivering our tasteless food. The place was dirty with cob webs all over the windows and our table was sticky and gross. Oh, and the booth padding was so broken down that I sank into a black hole and had to dig my way out to reach the table. Do yourself a favor and cross this place off your list if you want to taste your food and avoid sickness. We decided to stop for breakfast, on our way to the coast. It was early and it was very busy. (to me, that says alot about a business, busy is a good thing). We only had to wait for about 5 minutes, and were seated by some very kind servers. All the wait staff were outstanding, kind, knowledgeable and helpful. (Thank you). I come here almost every time I come to Corvallis. They have a great selection on their menu. I appreciate being able to grab a Bloody Mary if the whim hits. Have gone as a party of anywhere from 2-6 people and have always had great service and food. There is a book to sign in on when you arrive which is good to know when it's busy if you haven't been here before. Don't be discouraged by any negative review. There are people that don't know about the sign in and then complain because of their wait, or they come in the back door and don't know why they aren't being seated right away. As for those that complain about the food, I just don't get it. We've been here a dozen times. If something is wrong with your food let them know and they'll fix it right away. We've never had any issues coming here. The negative thing I've seen are patrons with attitude, not the staff. You're not the only people in the place and even when the place does get slammed I'm always impressed with the speed and quality of their food and team. read more

The atmosphere at Broken Yoke is fun and fresh. It's unique and driven with personality. Anyone can fit in here and you'll notice while you're here that anyone does fit in. The food is fabulous. I'm an omelette girl so I usually opt for that portion of the menu. The Cisco kid and the Western omelette are pretty good. My boyfriend's Hobo Hash with home fries was much better than my breakfast. Our friend got the Athens skillet with red pepper, artichoke, kalamata olives and capers was also good, but I agreed that the eggs should have been mixed in rather than on the side. The decor is cute and the service is pretty decent. This is the type of place I would have brought my parents to when they came to visit me in school. We didn't even have to wait for a table during our visit. Prices run in the $8-$10 range. I told our friend we went here and only thought it was okay. The food is good and I have eaten here several time. I would recommend it if you are looking for a descent breakfast. They are really busy and you will have to wait. Also not a lot of room to wait. I do have a few issues to address. 1) A glass of orange juice is like $5 and you get a small glass not enough 12oz with no refills. A really big rip off an its not fresh, its store bought. 2) The wait staff is bad. They are slow and a odd bunch. One waitress was wearing yoga pants that were rainbow and weren't inappropriate for work. Her butt seem to always be in your line of sight. I tired to pay my bill with another waitress but she refused and told me to wait for mine. 3) They have a kids area but I have never seen kids playing there. Not sure why they can't hire more people and open up the back section. We waited probably a half hour for a table, luckily there is the cutest little play area for the kids. Tony went and asked how much longer and the guy had scratched ours names off the list even though we were inside waiting the whole time, that was irritating. They should look into getting the pagers or something if they don't want to come look for someone when they're table is ready. Kayla was our server and did good except for a couple things. I asked for no tomatoes and still got them, there was no extra plates or napkins for our little ones and she never came around with more coffee. The food was very good and good portion sizes. We stopped in on a Saturday morning for some much-needed breakfast and we weren't disappointed. The wait wasn't too bad and the service was alright by me. I had the chicken-fried steak and my gf had the Eggs Benny. Both were delicious! I'm kind of obsessed with CFS and their version was tasty with a nice crispy, flavorful crust and the gravy had a lot of sausage chunks in it. I was happy and stuffed. This is the third time I have been to Wise Cracks and left disappointed. There is almost always a wait because there are very few breakfast places in Corvallis. The food and coffee is overpriced. I come from Moscow, Idaho where we have The Breakfast Club which is literally the best breakfast place in the world in my opinion. Today was my first time in The Broken Yolk Cafe and I am happy to say I've found another great locally owned breakfast place to fill the void. I came on Easter Sunday and was able to get a place at the bar immediately. The coffee here is so good. I ordered the Greek omelet and it was great. Grandma's house-made strawberry jam was a nice sweet addition to my breakfast. The food came out quickly, even though they were busy and the server Kayla C. was attentive and very nice. I have been to this establishment a few times and, coming from the service industry, I'm a pretty laid back and empathetic customer. That being said this place is terrible. If you have 3 hours to spend on an overpriced breakfast then you will probably love it. The waits for tables aren't generally that bad, pretty normal and I'm used to it coming from a big city. However, the wait for service is horrific. Each time I've been here, I have waited no less than 20 minutes to be greeted by a server, the food takes over 40 minutes and getting served between the initial greeting and right when the food arrives is impossible. The food is mediocre and not worth the price, so I would suggest amount it up in the service side so I can justify spending money on it. The last time I was here with my boyfriend. Long distance relationship and he flew out that night so we thought we'd grab a quick breakfast and spend the day together. After waiting a half an hour for the table it then took another 25 minutes for the server to come to our table. We gave him food and drink orders at the same time. It took 15 minutes for the drinks. We didn't see the server again. I asked for eggs scrambled easy. He came out right after the food and asked if we had everything, I told him the eggs were missing. He went back to the kitchen, came back with the eggs 15 minutes later and just dropped them off and left. The eggs were dry and cooked way over, and they were cold. It had died down a lot during our meal (considering we were there a while) and I tried to get the servers attention but he never came back to check how everything tasted. Finally, when a majority of the place cleared out another server was cleaning tables and I asked for new eggs. Eggs still didn't come back until we both finished our meals. Then we had to pretty much tackle (not really) the server for our check. I didn't even eat the eggs, and I didn't care, usually I'd feel bad. I refuse to go here anymore. If Corvallis had more breakfast options it would either put this place out of business or challenge them to have higher serving standards. I just wish I didn't go there and spend all that time on breakfast when I could of enjoyed some quality time with my boyfriend for the few times he visits. read more
