Then, when I decided it was finally time to replace and upgrade, he worked closely with me to select and quote a new Trane HVAC dual system. He and his team removed the old systems, installed the new systems, and programmed the thermostats. This included the complete interior and exterior a/c components, heaters, and thermostats. The only components he did not replace were the ventilation duct work. He was always respectful and conscientious, even sweeping up my floors after the work was complete. He's a true Texan (accent, boots, and all) who was true to his word and fair on costs.

(Our bad also for not asking - lesson learned.) Cool: After calling his partner, we were able to get his cell number and called him. He returned in less than an hour and fixed the problem for good, apologizing for missing it the first time. It all worked out and Don is the nicest guy ever. Wow! I had a HUGE job I needed an extremely experienced electrician to accomplish. We demo-ed the…read morekitchen and we discovered the electrical line for the island was about 3 feet off from where the new island would be. That means the concrete slab needed to be sawed in to, chipped away and a new route run. Most electricians I contacted don't do this type of work or told me they would jack hammer my foundation...yikes! Enter Tomas at Central Texas Electric. Wow! Fast, knowledgeable and friendly response with an initial bid based on pictures right away. He completed the job within two days of me first contacting them. AND so professionally! Tomas completed the work as a complete expert. Everything I read online said not to jack hammer into your foundation, and when Tomas explained how he would run the new line when he came to the job site he explained they diamond cut into the slab and then chip it away, exactly how all the experts recommended online. I was thrilled. Tomas kept the job site perfectly clean, which was a bonus since my daughter has asthma. And concrete sawing kicks up an amazing amout of dust. He tented his whole work area! He also noticed the previous electrician did some faulty work and fixed it for a per hour price on the spot. Amazing! When he finished the job we happened to have a Round Rock city inspector on site to inspect the gas line we just moved and the city inspector looked over the new line in the foundation and all my exposed electrical Tomas had just fixed and said it looked fantastic and passed my inspection with flying colors. I can't thank Tomas enough for what an amazing job he did. He will be my electrician for life! I already have him coming back to do the final electrical when the cabinets are installed and then back to do all the can lights. I'm also pretty sure his guys closed off the propane tank in order to safely dig trenches for new electrical lines (good!) but forgot to turn it back on, resulting in no hot water for my guests (not so good). Wow. In one word, Pete and his team are RELENTLESS in solving a problem. I can't possibly recommend…read morethem more. We had a wild storm and a bolt of lightning found its way through our home (and myself, but that's another story). Nearly everything in the house with a circuit board was fried, including the A/C unit, furnace, zone control boards, and the physical air conditioner's contactor. Literally blown up! I called at 8am and Logan showed up three hours later. Basically, everything was busted or malfunctioning. Left was right, up was down, hot was cold. This lightning did a number on us. Seeing this mess, Logan called in for backup from Pete, the owner with decades of experience. Pete made it his mission to "hack" our system to making A/C for the night. It didn't seem too difficult for him, but you could tell he wasn't leaving until our baby daughter had A/C in her room (it's July). The next day, the men showed up with the replacement parts and a few hours later, we were back up and running 100%. They documented everything wonderfully for our insurance claim and even took a ton of time to chat and give me tips for the house we're building right now. I'll definitely have Pete come in and make sure the next house is configured properly. I had called another highly ranked Yelp Trane business and their salesman tried to snow me with a…read moreridiculously expensive quote (initially over $20,000) for a new Trane Heat Pump System for my 1,400 sq ft house, and who didn't listen regarding my issues with NOT getting cool AC into my bedroom and didn't tell me why my 8 yr old Trane failed. Luckily, I had requested an appointment with another Trane HVAC business, and that was Summit AC and Heating out of Buda, TX, who were highly reviewed on Google and Yelp. Rich with Summit AC and Heating listened to my two issues -- namely the lack of cool air going into my bedrooms, and Austin Energy having a power outage -- causing a power surge to destroy my coils in my heat pump and assured me that my new Trane heat pump wouldn't suffer another power surge ever again. He came up with a heat pump package, partial duct work replacement, the replacement of three moldy plenums in that attic, and adding two new surge protectors that met my needs and price point. And of course I am not happy that all new HVAC systems now cost more than double than what I paid in 2018, but this isn't just a Trane issue but with ALL HVAC BRANDS that has happened since the pandemic. (FYI, I got six quotes from Trane, Carrier, Bryant and Lennox heatpump dealers in the Austin area before settling on a Trane heatpump system and Summit AC and Heating). As for the install, Summit blew my socks off with their thoroughness and professionalism. The previous installer in 2018 left a mess in my garage crawl space and ignored a collapsed ductwork. The two Summit heat pump installers replaced two of my undersized ducts, replaced three new plenums boxes, added two new surge protectors (one to the air handler in the attic and to compressor outside), vacuumed up all the debris, garbage and nails left by other people who had worked in the crawl space over the years. The two new larger ducts they installed now give me cool airflow into all my bedrooms and the two surge protectors will ensure that an Austin Energy power outage, power surge or lightning strike will never blow out my heat pump coils ever again. I also bought a 10 year labor warranty to cover any high value repairs, which doomed my previous 8 yr old Trane, which was supposed to last 12 to 15 years. All in all, I highly recommend Summit AC and Heating, who were a pleasure to work with, especially now that my house is cool EVERYWHERE.

I would have never known if I tried to fix this myself. I am always hesitant about calling a company to come do work because even the smallest little thing would cost me a few hundred dollars at least. As John was fixing and replacing things, he would also give little informational tidbits and explain what things were and what he was doing along the way. I can't say I didn't learn anything because I did pick up a few things here and there. He was very knowledgeable and definitely knew what he was doing. At no point have they actually diagnosed or repaired anything - they add coolant and say it is fine. Now, they can't even look at their schedule until Monday, so me and my seven pets get to live without AC for who knows how long. They have lied to my face about return times, told me they've inspected the coil and everything was fine, told me they can't get to the coil because of ducts, and complained about how hard it would be to clean the coil on my house. None of which get my system fixed. I do not recommend them at all.
