Coming into Minneapolis to work for a couple weeks my wife found Wise Acre on Yelp and it was the first place we tried. It is absolutely incredible! We tried a few other places out but nothing else compared to how delicious and healthy Wise Acres plates were. We travel all over the US and look for the best breakfast spots all over and this spot is absolutely Top 3 across the US for us. If we will miss one thing about Minneapolis, it is definitely eating the CSA Hash at Wise Acre! And the coffee was surprisingly good too! Go here if your lucky enough to be close by! read more

My family stopped by Wise Acre to see the menu a few months back and saw what seemed like a very limited kids menu, which had a $9 corn dog. That turned us away until recently I looked past that after hearing so many good things. I went for lunch on a Friday and the prices are a bit higher than I normally like to pay for lunch. But I went and I loved it. I had a homemade soda, it was pear and mint, and it was amazing, refreshing, perfect. I normally don't drink soda but this reminded me more of a pear cider. I had the CSA hash which was also absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked fresh veggies and a small piece of delicious bacon, what a treat. I will be going back, hopefully soon. read more

I have eaten here several times since Wise Acre opened. Always fresh, innovative and delicious! Today's Farm vegetable and lentil stew was amazing. I also had the house salad--enough for two--Fresh and delicious! Did I mention cookies? oatmeal raisin are to die for! Last weeks Curry vegetable was sublime. The grilled cheese was the perfect accompaniament to the soup and perfect for this freezing weather. I want to like Wise Acre. On both of my visits, the ambience was cozy, the service was friendly, the food was beautifully plated. The farm-to-table practices are admirable, something I love supporting. But upon the first bite, disappointment set in. One example is this season's springtime palette. As a vegetarian, I'm all about vegetables, but the flavors were somewhat bland and the dish was not filling for an $18 entree. Hoping the third visit's the charm. read more

I have been to Wise Acre before and had a wonderful meal. The last two times the meals have not measured up. Here is my biggest complaint, it is a restaurant with a seasonal, changing menu but the website does not reflect the current selections. When you only have 4 or 5 main entree selections it's more important to know ahead of time if there is something you want to order. My dinner companion and I ordered the green pasture steak at 32$ and it was terrible. The steak was so tough neither of us finished and at one time my guest left to remove meat that he could not chew enough to swallow. My other diner had the chicken which was dry and overcooked. Our bill for 3 people was $132 and for that amount, I expect better food. The waiter was nice but the food was lacking. This is the second time this has happened and am not sure if I will return to see if it improves. read more

I've been to Wise Acres many times and the food is quite good and farm-fresh. However I think I need to stop going. It's just too expensive. Today for lunch I had the beet risotto special. It was good, not outstanding, and as always fresh. But for the Beet risotto alone ,after-tax and before tip- $18 . The time prior to the that I went with a buddy and we each had the burger and a coffee and it was $45 with tip. For lunch. If money was not an object and I would eat here weekly but it's just too expensive. read more

Far more style than substance. CSA hash was bland and soggy; Lutheran basement bland. Wise Acre salad was okay, but not worth a special trip. The service was similarly lacking in enthusiasm. The vibe was "Since you have already disturbed us, I suppose we will allow you to enter and eat here so you can demonstrate your faith," not "Glad to see you! You have to try this!". The defining features are locally sourced foods and an obsession with trendy drinks. This might be the perfect place for you, especially if you dine to assuage your white guilt. For me, I found myself wishing I had gone elsewhere to get more flavor and more energy for fewer dollars. Locally sourced, quality ingredients are great, but what was delivered was big on ideas, weak in execution. Given the relatively high prices, I have to say keep on walking. read more

I absolutely love the concept, but was disappointed immediately! A friend of mine went for brunch and were hungry for breakfast... The menu is a very limited. They offer eggs only one way; as if they are unable to cook an egg to order.. I haven't eaten scrambled eggs since I was s kid or perhaps at some lame buffet style brunch.. Not only that, but their prices are a joke! I ordered the "if you must" which implies that I'm somehow boring for wanting a normal breakfast. The best thing on my plate was the bacon, which was amazing. My friend got the burger, which came well done when he ordered it med rare... We are not the type to send food back, but when it costs $15 and comes so dry you can't even choke it down, something has to be said.. The worst part is after saying "oh, we're so sorry, let me take care of that got you." They bring the bill with two $5 coupons for next time... Let's do the math, a $15 dollar burger that was so over cooked it couldn't be eaten, gets you coupons that doesn't even add up to the price of the burger... Not only that, but when he asked for it to be taken off the bill and that she could keep her coupons, he was lectured about how next time he should mention it sooner, so they could make another one! That might have happen if the waiter checked back within 10 minutes of getting our food. One word comes to mind, PRETENTIOUS!!! read more

I would love to support a local restaurant but this place fails in two huge ares. The service is substandard and way too many people don't know what they are doing. It is slow and lots of times people look totally perplexed. The food, while good, is way overpriced and portions are too small. My five year old had possibly the funnies reaction to her one scoop of chocolate custard for $2.50. She looked at me and said, "this is really small." I told her it was and that we would have more when we got home. Not a lot for kids on the menu and my kids do not like the place. Really disappointed and think this place will fail quickly if they don't change quickly. read more

I was really looking forward to taking my kids here and I ended up being completely underwhelmed. It's a pretty restaurant and seems like it would be cozy even though it was December but it was so drafty we kept our coats wrapped around us the whole time. I will say one of my kids had the best chicken tenders I've ever tasted made with real, moist chicken. But my other son had the hot dog which was dry and kinda hard. I had the black bean burger which fell apart as I ate it and they were really stingy with the sauce. The final blow was the service. They gave us the crappiest table in the restaurant even though we got there at 5:15 and there were only two other people in the place. Our server was really nice but pretty inattentive and seemed strangely unwilling to give us more than one container of ketchup. To top it all off, it was way overpriced. I love the restaurant scene in Minneapolis. My family and I mostly eat at restaurants just like this - local, organic, unique dishes, get the flavor naturally, etc. But Wise Acre didn't live up to the others like it, as far as I was concerned. I found the host (manager?) to be off-putting and pretty rude - plus he was clearly worlds above us. Less than accommodating, which I'm pretty sure is his job. The food was EXPENSIVE (like I said, we go to restaurants like this all the time, I have no problem paying for good food). But $9.00 for a kids meal corn dog with carrots - really??? My burger with brie and a fries was $16.00. I just think that's ridiculous. The service was slow, once we received our food the next time we talked with the waitress it was when we asked for our check. I gave it three stars because the food was good, but that was about all I really enjoyed about our experience. I'd try Birchwood, Pat's Tap, Peoples Organic even, Brasa, any of those before Wise Acre. I've heard good things about the brunch, our experience was dinner. I think I'll have to take other peoples' word for the brunch at this point. read more

We were excited to try this new restaurant, especially this time of year when all of the ingredients are fresh. We took our family including our 2 grand children, ages 2 and 5. I ordered the pork special and found the ribs to be wonderful but the pork loin was really dry. We really enjoyed the pea pod appetizers and most of the other adult meals but when the check came and I saw that the children's meals were $9.00 each and an additional $3.00 for their drinks I was shocked, $24.00 for 2 children is outrageous! If the owners don't want family business this is a great way to keep them away. We won't be returning! read more

Otherwise, if you value your time with friends and family, don't go. I love the Wise Acre eatery. I love their concept, the plantings, and most of all the FOOD. I went with a friend to brunch and had a nettle egg roulade-type thing along with some amazing cold press (it is very strong, so if you don't like a strong taste, the sweet espresso bar attendant will give you extra water without any judgement!). The menu is changing all the time, as the seasons change, so if something isn't to your taste, you can come back another day and find something else you like. The setting is wonderful. But the food is just OK. On my first visit I had the gourmet corn dog which was smokey and kind of juicy, well not all that juicy, but it was good. I do think it needed more corn batter. The fries that came with it were very yummy. They were skin-on and well seasoned. My husband ordered pork tenderloin which he really liked, but I thought it was kind of boring. I ordered homemade soda which was lemon, ginger, mint and it was thoroughly disgusting. But I love that they make home made syrup, so they get kudos. On my next visit I went to the walk-up window and ordered the chicken salad sandwich. Again, I thought it was really boring. It was generic shredded chicken in a thick mayo and herb base. I couldn't really taste any herb seasoning and the whole grain mustard was applied so lightly I couldn't taste that either. I think the sandwiches are made for lunch because when I got my sandwich at 6 p.m. the top piece of bread was stale, like it had been sitting in the cooler for a few hours. The side of coleslaw was also very boring. But the homemade pickle slices were good. The food is hit or miss, but I'm willing to try it a few more times. read more

Friend of ours took us here back in June and he talked it up. So we were excited because we are all foodies. At first it was good with the kombutcha and the beet hummus. However the lunch menu left a lot to be desired. They must have had an abundance of sausage they needed to get rid of. Because three menu items were basically hot dogs. No thank you so the other option was a Brie and bacon burger. I'm not a fan of Brie but I like burgers and nothing else sounded good. I asked if we could sub blue cheese on it but was told no. So I got it as Is thinking if I didn't like it one way I might like it this way. I also like my burgers cooked on the medium rare side. So I ordered it rare and when it came out it was well done. The bacon on it was a 1/2 inch thick chunk that I had to cut to pieces to eat on the burger. The combination of the flavors was not great especially with the burger being so over cooked. On top of that the server was inattentive. I wanted to like this place, I love the farm to table aspect. My experience just was not great. read more

We usually go here for brunch on a weekday so it isn't busy. The food is very good and a little different. I can find healthier options, which I appreciate. I love how they prepare their veggies! Staff is typically pretty helpful. And the atmosphere can sometimes be loud, but isn't bad at all. The bathrooms are lovely, on a side note. read more

A pleasant, hip Portland-like vibe. I appreciate the lengths they go to assure high-quality product, but it is simply overpriced for what you get. A huge disappointment was the caramel roll. They were clearly left from the day before and about the size of a tangerine. And they cost $4.00. I could buy an entire loaf of bread at Rustica for that, and for .95 more I could get one six times the size at Hell's Kitchen fresh from the oven I can't say I am sorry that I went, but probably would not rush back. read more

I've been here twice in the past 6-8 months. The food is very good, though I think, overpriced, but it is local, fresh, organic, etc, so I'm willing to pay a bit more. It's also creative and has wonderful flavors. Here's why I would hesitate to go back: The service. We were greeted by a person who maybe wasn't having a great day. He looked a bit annoyed at having to clean off a table for 2 and seat us and he actually just came back and pointed us to the table across the room and told us to go sit down. We came early, a bit after 5 and it wasn't busy. He came by in a while with the gratis popped corn but never came back for a drink order. I tried to get his eye while he was chatting with other staff, but after 15 minutes from the time we sat down, I stopped a waitress at the table next to us to see if we actually did have a waiter. She was very nice, and very accommodating, took our order and ended up keeping our table. But then the food took forever, close to another 30 minutes and we ordered salads. We were never asked if we wanted another drink. That kind of stuff is distracting from the dining experience. And this was my feeling after the 1st time I dined here but I was going to give it another chance. I don't think I'll give it a 3rd chance. There are lots of really great restaurants in Minneapolis and lots to choose from. read more

Off the beaten path from downtown or the mall of america, this place has always been a great stop for me on the way back to the airport. Last visit I had the burger with brie and bacon. Done to perfection with a lot of juices, it could have used a sturdier bun but that was just a minor detail as I'm rather picky when it comes to soggy buns. I wasn't as big a fan of the fries as I was originally and the homemade ketchup didn't really do it for me. I usually love any place that will serve me chocolate milk but imagine my disappointment when I got to the bottom of my cup to discover the remnants of chocolate mix...like nesquick or whatever the mix with the rabbit is called that your mom used when you were 4. Give me real chocolate milk. No mixes allowed. But I'll give them credit for just giving me the option. I sat outside on the patio and service was kind of abysmal. I saw someone 3 times. When I ordered, when they dropped off the food and when they brought the check. Food was good but I always wonder when no one even bothers to ask about the meal how good quality control is overall. I love the concept. I love the burgers but a few missteps that could easily be corrected are making a big difference here. read more

I came to this cafe on a whim with my boyfriend since we were in the area, and we were seated right away on the beautiful patio which was adorned with flowers from the neighboring nursery ( they also get most of their ingredients from the nursery's farm). It was fairly busy, but that was expected on a Friday afternoon. We both ordered the bacon and Brie burger with the farm fries and a cup of the roasted red pepper soup. The soup was definitely the highlight of my meal, I highly recommend getting it! It was savory and the added goat cheese made it memorable.The fries were decent not very crispy but the burger made up for that. I have never seen a thicker piece of bacon on a burger in my life! The Brie cheese paired so nicely with the saltiness of the bacon. My boyfriend ordered his medium rare which turned out be more medium with very little pink but he still enjoyed it. I will definitely be going again to see what else they have. read more

I have only had custard at the window so far, but it was the most amazing I have ever had. With the natural sweeteners and ultra high quality ingredients it is at a completely different level than the former Liberty custard that was previously there. I really love this restaurant. OK this has nothing to do with the food but those weathered, timber shelves behind the bar are beautiful. I love them. Actually the whole space just feels good to be in. I've had dinner here twice and breakfast once. And the food and service have been great every time. Things that stuck out: the cottage bacon on the breakfast dish, the fritter appetizer, the pickle app (yes weird I know but pickles are underrated and delicious), a few of the 'soups of the day'... I haven't struck out yet. It's a small restaurant and it's often full but I've never had to wait too long for a table. Clearly I recommend this spot. read more

I want to love this place and it is absolutely adorable from the pig sitting on the doorstep to the hanging light fixtures. I was very excited to eat organic local food, but I eat very little meat. That said the menu is limited with most chicken dishes cooked in bacon or with bacon. I opted for the kale salad, and it would have been great if it was just steamed a bit.
