Nice place that has a good variety of wings and flavors...I have never had anything but wings here but they have a pretty typical bar food menu with the addition to poutine...They also have a full bar and plenty of beers on tap. It's on the small side but then that is what you would expect in a strip mall. Parking is fine and there is some outdoor seating with televisions. The decor is full on sports bar. You are always near a t.v. and it seems like a good place to go for a game. The wi-fi is good and I've seen people there watching a game while surfing on the web. The emphasis seems to be on football but I've seen everything from hockey to collage hoops and even golf on the screens. I'm sure they will tune to whatever you want. Just ask. The wings themselves are big and meaty with lots of choices in sauces and styles. My favorites are the regular wings and the smoked wings. The smoked wings are very good and I have not seem them anywhere else in Austin. The sauce choices are very expansive and unique. The curry sauce is good but a bit heavy on cheap curry powder. (I know good curry powder) The original sauce is probably the best they have and I still prefer the sauces at Pluckers. The problem with the sauces is that they seem to taste all the same. I had a sample platter once and I couldn't tell the difference between the teriyaki and the Jerk...The Jerk were not hot at all and the teriyaki were bland and sticky in a odd way. The service is really nice and they take care of you and your needs. They don't hassle you to much seeing as though it's a sports bar and they seem to be happy to let you order beers and watch the game. Although I have never come for something big, maybe the policy is different then. I still prefer Pluckers and Buffalo Wild Wings, but I like to support local places. Came here randomly on a Sunday afternoon to grab a quick early lunch. I'm still trying to discover a go to place for wings in Austin I had high hopes from Wingzup. I ordered 10 bone in medium buffalo wings, standard sauce, and a Lonestar draft to wash it down. The service will from the bartender was fantastic, as he was eager to refill seconds before I finished my drink and was and he was incredibly accommodating. I wish I could give this place 4 stars, however, their standard medium buffalo sauce highly as highly disappointing. While the wings were good in terms of being cook to the right texture and of decent chicken quality, the flavor was the weirdest standard buffalo sauce I've experienced in recent memory, tasting more like a combination of top Tapatio and Cholula Hot sauce than anything resembling Frank's. It's very concerning to me that a place with a wing is in its name doesn't have a solid medium buffalo wing. Prices were reasonable would consider coming back but not with the expectation expectation that a traditional buffalo wing was anything more than subpar at wingz up. read more

My buddy told me about this place as I am a frequent pluckers patron and told me these wingz blow pluckers out the water. I must say my buddy was correct. Ordered 10pc with parmesan fries (they charge you 75 cents if you want 2 flavors which i was thought was weird) but the wings were fried perfect after my request for extra crispy and the flavors i chose were spicy lemon pepper, spicy garlic, and sweet korean chili. Omg they were amazing and the Parmesan fries are worth leaving your breath smelly. HH M-F 3-7 and 10 to close which is super dope. I got to wash my wingz down with beers on tap. Definitely recommend. Only feedback is tables were a little dirty and had to find an attendant to clean it off. But Bear was out waitor-he was amazing. Will be returning. read more

It's been 3yrs since my last review and this place is still amazing. We come to Wingzup a few times a year when we make the drive up to Austin. I still love the jalepeno ranch send spicy garlic. This place is soo good!!! Their wings are really good, and im not even a big wing girl. My boyfriend had the hot wings and i had the texas burger. The texas burger was great! The meat itself was small but they layer on the guac, lettuce, tomato etc to make it look big. So wish the meat was alittle thicker. But it tasted delicious and the wing sauce they make from scratch im pretty sure and it was really good. Our waiter was pretty on top of things which i really appreciate. I'd heard good things about their smoked wings but the skin was very chewy. The flavor was good though. Their garlic parmesan fries were AMAZING! So delicious, and worth the extra $. I can't comment on the food because we didn't get that far in the dining process. We came in on Sunday the 18th to try out their wings for the first time. Typically, I go to Pluckers, but I wanted to try something new. My buddy and I walked in and saw the "please seat yourself" sign and walked to the section on the right. People were dining there. A server walked by as we were figuring out where to sit and said, "section's closed -- you walked by the sign that said that." He had a really rude tone of voice. Fair enough though, our bad for not seeing the sign (probably obscured by the "seat yourself" sign). No big deal, we just walked to the other section and took a seat. A moment later, the same server walks towards our table, menus in hand. I figured the rudeness had passed and was glad that he was so quick to grab us some menus. But get this: As he walked passed our table, he straight up threw the menus at us! He flung them on the table forcefully, without saying a word, and walked past us to attend to another table. We were pretty taken aback by this. "Did that really just happen?" A few minuets pass and our antagonist returns to the table. Staring off into the distance he says in the most sardonic tone I've ever heard, "What looks good to drink, gentlemen." He said "gentlemen" in a way that suggested he meant "idiots." We said "water" and after he ambled away, we promptly got up and got out of there. We went to Pluckers. tl;dr - Had possibly the worst service experience of my life. Despite giving a low star rating to this place I still LOVE coming here for wings!! This place is by far way better than pluckers when it comes to chicken wings. Having the option to have Fried wings, grilled, or smoked just beats pluckers out in my opinion. Unfortunately, the low star rating comes from the quality of service. It's pretty disorganized most times and the servers typically tend to have too many tables to wait on affecting said service. As a wings fanatic, the wings here are definitely 5 stars! I've had wings everywhere, from Buffalo, NY (a lot) to NYC, out of country, the south and Texas. Yes, it's better than Pluckers! Yes, it's most definitely better than Lavaca St. Bar! I don't know what the rest of you Austinites are eating or maybe all the bbq and tacos have numbed your taste buds (lol I kid)? The combinations of wings and sauce options, coupled with the accurately labeled spice levels gives it the top spot. I often get the garlic parmesan or the ghost wings and I've never been disappointed. Wings are perfectly larger than the average wings offered in Austin (which are usually the size of quail wings - wtf!!!). On top of that, they have perfectly positioned TVs for sports. He finally took our order, and later brought it out as expected. Then as we're eating, he never came by to check on us. We had to ask another waitress that walked by to get us a water. Before I even talk about the wings, I need to inform you of the fried mac and cheese bites. That's right - they bring you little bite-size triangles of perfectly golden fried mac and cheese goodness. Crispy on the outside and warm and gooey on the inside. Dip that little triangle in the ranch provided and put it in your mouth - chew slowly to really savor the food party in your mouth. Let all those flavors dance across your taste buds. Try not to let your eyes roll into the back of your head from pleasure, but if it happens, everyone will understand. It just doesn't get better than those little slices of heaven. Well, you know, as far as fried foods are concerned. The wings themselves were pretty good. Tuesday nights are 60 cent boneless wings which is perfect for me because I don't particularly like the messiness involved with bone-in wings. (I'll still eat them because I love wings, but I just prefer boneless.) There is a minimum order of 10, but that will still run you less than $7. And these aren't little tiny boneless wings, either - they were all decently sized and some of mine were huge. (You do have to pay extra for ranch, though, but only 50 cents. I don't know if they charge you extra for ranch on nights where wings are regularly priced.) I went with Tony B. and Monica G. and we all got a variety of flavors. I ordered the cajun flavor and I was able to try the hot and spicy garlic flavors. Spicy garlic was probably the spiciest one of the bunch, even though they are all under the three pepper level of spiciness. Cajun was good, but not that spicy, and hot was basically what I expected. All three flavors were good, though, and I'd order each of them again. It got me questioning, though - these were all three pepper spiciness and my mouth wasn't burning, my nose wasn't running, my eyes weren't watering - nothing. The Ghost Challenge is set at a five pepper spiciness level. That's only two more peppers and I didn't feel a thing for three. Ghost Challenge, I'm coming for you. Prepare to be dominated. read more

I called in an 20 wings and one side of fries. They told me the typical 20 minutes. Well I showed up and ended up waiting right at an hour for my wings. I don't ask for free things but I didn't even get an apology. The fries were cold, but I'll admit the wings did taste pretty good. I'll probably continue to go to pluckers because of the service. I will preface this review with "I don't like wings and I don't really care for sports." That being said, I do like chicken tenders, hard liquor, and a captive male audience and therefore, I like Wingzup. Throw in attentive bartenders and Monday night specials, and you've got a five star experience from someone who wouldn't normally be caught dead anywhere near wings or sports. They even have purse hooks! Though as I observed, and Joe C. confirmed, the one closest to us had buffalo sauce on it (maybe run a rag over those once a week WingzUp crew?). No matter, the bar stools had backs on them that were ideal for purse, cardigan, and umbrella-holding. They have sports on but the volume is not so high that it prevents chatting up your neighbor or companion. Even if you are just chatting with your neighbor because they were totally eavesdropping on your conversation about how you wish basketball players still wore the short shorts from the 70s and that the basketball hoop should be 12 feet high now and that when you were in JV basketball in junior high, your free throw average was higher than most college athletes (that's just physics and muscle-memory, not a true "talent"). Even if you neighbor later Facebook stalks you and claims that you met 10 years ago and says they like your dress (it's really short and one of the buttons kept coming undone, everyone likes that dress, that's not a real compliment). They have wings but they also have tenders. And on Mondays, 5 tenders are $5. I think. And they are huge! And good. They don't have any weird sinewy tendons or fatty bits or anything. All white meat, juicy, with a variety of sauces and accouchements. Well, if ranch dressing counts as an accouchement. Hey, where was the celery? The ranch was good, but didn't taste like it was made in house or maybe because it was more like ranch dip vs. dressing so the viscosity affected the flavor? They have a hard liquor license and that was enough to get a "Yay! I'm so glad we're leaving [from Hopfields that has no such license, $9 mocktails, and rude bartenders]!!" They have Monopolowa vodka which you might not expect from a wing place in a shopping center, though Mono is becoming pretty ubiquitous but still, I didn't have to drink Tito's and that's alright with me. Joe, the bartender, was really nice. He really made us feel welcome and even after he closed our tabs, he said that it wasn't the end, that he would still be around if we needed him. After the string of crappy service I've gotten at more upscale places, it's refreshing to feel like someone actually cares--whether they are faking it or they genuinely mean it, the effect is the same. And the rest of the staff was really nice too. They all said goodbye and thanked us when we left. Talk about service! read more

I had an original-style wing basket with the "hot" sauce. The sauce was really tasty - not your everyday buffalo flavor - and the meat was quite tender. Would love to come back and try some other items on their menu. But that's where the good ends. The "baked" beans we got as a side were, without a doubt, Campbell's Pork 'n' Beans. Yet our server had the nerve to try to pass it off as something they "pre-bake" and then reconstitute when we order. Sorry, not believing it. I can recognize Campbell's when I see it. I just couldn't believe they have the nerve to serve that at all. And furthermore, we chose to not leave a tip due to unremarkable service. Not that the service was bad, but we're counting pennies, and since we were in and out in thirty minutes with a very small order and the service was just average, we just didn't tip. Anyway, as we were getting in our car, the server decides to come out the front door and yell at us across the parking lot about it. I know we're not the first people on this planet to not leave a tip, so if it's such a big deal to him that he feels the need to make a scene outside, maybe he should find a job where that can't happen. No theme nights. Just great food. Stopped here for the first time tonight and now regretting not having come sooner. This place has the wings restaurant formula down pat. TVs with sports? Yep. Great variety on the menu? Yep. Friendly service? Yep. (Thanks Scott!) Awesome appetizers? Yep. Chips and salsa are some of the best outside of a Mexican restaurant. And one of us (Ok, it was my Dad.) got two appetizers for dinner. He raved about the frito pie and the mini corn dogs. I got the basket of boneless tenders and waffle fries. Let me just say that Spicy Teriyaki sauce sold in a bottle is better than Prozac -- whatever's making you feel down goes away. This is your place then; locals everywhere, awesome servers, few patio tables out front and inexpensive prices. Pass on the nachos as they are not impressive and neither is the interesting guacamole served with them. Thanks to our waitress who comped them from our bill because we each took one bite and said not thanks. The mozzarella sticks are worth a go though! The way it works: 1. Pick your wing style: original, boneless, country style, golden, grilled or smoked. (Keep in mind your sauce choice to make sure they combine well) 2. How many do you want (10 gives you a choice of 2 sauces and 15+ gets you a choice of 3 sauces-5 wings per flavor) 3. Wait anxiously to see if your self crafted wing choices paid off or not. We did: Golden Style in Spicy Teriyaki (Note: Sauce comes on the side for Golden Style) Smoked Style in Jamaican Jerk Original Style (Extra Crispy) in Garlic Parmesan Pass on the Spicy Teriyaki sauce or at least that is my advice. The cooking style I liked the best was the original and ask to have them extra crispy. The best sauce by itself was the garlic Parmesan but, the best combination by far was the Smoked Style with the Jamaican Jerk. Those babies will keep me coming back to this place! read more

I have been hearing about this place from Amy D and decided to take my old wing loving buddy here tonight. He was enthralled. It's the Disneyland of chicken wings. The Wingzup menu is vast and I think it will take some time to get bored! But in my lonesome opinion on my first night here - come for the exotic. I absolutely loved my friend's daring order of curry and jerk wings. They were substantially hotter than the X-Hot flavor I ordered. Even the fire breathing experienced South Asian that he is complained about the heat. And in some odd way, just a couple of those wings he shared with me enhanced the heat on my X-Hot and even the limp Honey Mustard. This is going to be my go to exotic flavor wing spot. With beer on tap and full bar at that. Yee-haw! Of more interest is the mention on the menu they have smoked wings. Sounds healthier by just a nudge. And that nudge should get the wife into Wingzup trying the saucy curry wings. Service was excellent. read more

A much deserved update. I originally gave them four stars because the smoked came out a bit dry. I've since tried the smoked at least four more times and they have been spot on. I can honestly say that all their wingz are spot on! This is the only place to get perfect wings. I will take this a step further and guarantee that if this place opened up near any other wing joint, it would close them down. Seriously people, these are some damned good wings. I had seen that this place had opened up and was looking forward to trying out a new wing place! I love to try new sauces and test my limits on how much spice I can handle. This is the perfect place for anyone to try it out. We went and it was in a nice location, with a ton of tvs for the avid sports fan and the staff was way, way friendly. I don't think that I have ever been talked to so nicely by so many staff members. We went on Wednesday and it was $1 tender night. And just so you know, Monday is 50 cent wings and Tuesday is 50 cent boneless wings too. So there are some great specials. We decided to get our monies worth and go for the tenders. They allowed us to try the sauces before we ordered. I was intrigued with the ghost sauce, but just couldn't bring myself to even try it. We went for the mango habanero, spicy garlic, parm, and raspberry bbq. All the sauces have a TON of flavor in them. The habanero was spicy but there was so much tastiness to it, I found myself trying to ignore my burning mouth and push through to eat more. Spicy garlic was wonderful, and parm and bbq were quite tasty for the wing goer that doesn't care for spice. The waffle fries were way fresh when they came out, they were still burning hot and cooked perfectly. They were nice and crispy on the outside and starchy inside. They had a nice pepper on them, making me want to order more. Our waiter was great, he was friendly and seemed to understand that me and my friend were not good at making decisions on things such as, wing sauces. Another worker was also very friendly making recommendations for next time we go. At the end the waiter was curious to know what we thought of all the flavors and asked for any suggestions that we might have for them. Wingz. I love 'em. I was pretty excited when I heard about their 50 cent wings on Mondays, and I had to check it out. Plus, I needed some stuff from HEB so it worked out perfectly. Wingzup is your typical sports bar joint but on steroids. Is it normal to have about 10 screens in a room? The wing flavor list was full of interesting choices, but I ended up picking curry and buffalo ranch original wings (they were out of smoked). My bf ordered spicy garlic and BBQ. After trying all four flavors, I have to say I liked the buffalo ranch the best. Not that the other ones weren't great; all of the wings were really flavorful and came with an adequate amount of sauce. The curry wings were my second favorite; they didn't really taste like curry though. It was more of a buffalo flavor, but still good nonetheless. Service was pretty good. Our server checked in with us periodically, and was trying to get us to add on all these extra things, but we were here for one thing and one thing only: wingz. This is a great local find for wings. We used to go to Pluckers because the corporate standard of wings and service seemed to be ok. We've tried everything else too, Buffalo Wild Wings, Hooters, you name it. The service however, was perfect here, not your glorified order taker asking for a tip. Merry was on the spot with timing, not hassling too much, and the suggestive upselling was appropriate but not pushy. We usually get straight up wings, everything else on the menu can always be a crap-shoot but the wings by far have been the best we have had in town. The chicken was quality (unlike Pluckers) and the sauce was complex and perfect. Lone star was on special for $2, which doesn't make you cringe when you realize how much cheaper it would be to buy beer and drink it at home (we love tap beer.) We are definitely not sports fans (unfortunately just wing connoisseurs), and although the atmosphere catered to that, we didn't feel out of our element eating there.
