I got an unexpected opportunity to eat here last night. My flight to the islands was significantly delayed, so I missed my connections at HNL, had to unexpectedly overnight it and needed a dinner plan. The silver lining was my chance to eat at Win's! That I could have gone to any number of great local or tourist spots for a great meal but elected to go here should tell you something. I have been here several times since my original review. I can confidently say that everything I wrote 7 yrs ago still applies and is in full effect. Same place, modest decor, generous BYOB policy, awesome staff, and fantastic food. Given that, this place remains my one "don't miss" eatery when I am in Oahu. I'm still amazed that I have to travel over 4,000 miles from my home base to get a meal like this, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean no less! My tactical plan to approach a meal here is this. Go to their website and make an auto Google reservation. I did it from my flight when I realized I was spending the night in Honolulu without a plan. Arrive in the area early and stop at Fujioka's Wine Shop to get something awesome to drink with dinner. Have Fujioka's put the bottle in their Quick chiller for several minutes and it will be the perfect drinking temperature. Walk up the slope to the restaurant, sit at the table they have diligently set aside for your reservation, have them open your great bottle choice and be prepared to feed your face. On the short walk up from the wine shop, there will be no doubt about where you are going because you can smell the cooking garlic wafting all over the place drawing you in like a moth to flame! Years after my first discovery visit and this place still delivers an outstanding meal with one of the best clam sauce, linguine dishes around! It hasn't changed in 7 years and I hope it never does. If you are local, go support this community gem. If you are visiting, take a break from the tourist district food and go eat in the local neighborhood. I always do so here and they still get all five stars from me!
Located in Market City near Foodland up the stairs by Thai Issan, Win-Spuntino is an Italian spot with a variety of pastas, salads, and more. They have a pretty decent offering size of pastas from pastas with seafood to chicken, vegetables, and more. The place is on the smaller side with a few tables inside. It has a pretty casual and clean feel with dark wood red and white plaid tables. The people working are nice and efficient with the orders. We got the pasta with meatballs and sausages, and the pasta with chicken and vegetables. The portions are quite large, and usually last us a couple of meals. The pastas were solid and a little on the sweeter side with the sauce. I prefer a bit more of a salty pasta. The pastas were about $20, which seemed to be a good value for the amount we received. We'll try another of the many pastas next time!
This is one of the family's favorite spots. Very family friendly, simple and quaint- casual dining location. We have dined in with a large group, many times and always receive great service. The menu is very large so we always have a hard time choosing what to try on each visit. Portions are super generous and we leave "fat and satisfied" and with leftovers for later! The cheesecakes are homemade with a fun wide variety to choose from. All were delicious and great tasting sizes for sharing with the group.
What a delightful surprise! I visited this spot years ago when they first opened, and today I was lucky enough to return for lunch with a friend. We arrived at 11 AM to find a bright, fresh dining room that immediately felt welcoming. It's BYOB, and the menu is both creative and reasonably priced--a rare find these days. I ordered the chicken piccata, and the moment it arrived, the rich aroma of garlic, capers, and Parmesan filled the air. Every bite was perfectly balanced, and the pasta was cooked just right. My friend had the chopped clams, which were just as delicious--and we both had generous portions to take home. This is definitely going to be my new go-to spot for lunch meetings. The owner and his son were both on staff, and they couldn't have been more warm and welcoming. I'm so grateful for the experience and highly recommend you give this place a try. You'll be glad you did!
First of all clean, bright, small restaurant. For my fellow Christians who wants to support a Christian restaurant this is the place. Server and owner gave us service and it was great service no complains always checked on us. Food was wonderful, tasty and LARGE portions. We also ate bacon cheese bread delicious and camprese salad, crunchy tomatoes...My fave! We sadly didn't have room for dessert but they have a wonderful variety of cheese cakes. We will definitely be coming back and bring the family. We left with a happy dance after all this great food.
We arrived with no reservations and limited expectations. I was super hungry and over traffic so we pulled in to Market City to try this place out. Lots of people were doing take out but we opted for dine in. We were greeted and seated at a cozy table near the windows. This is a small spot, but they have a lot of options on the menu. Our server greeted us, took drink orders, shared the specials for the day and let us peruse the menu. We opted on the clams casino and garlic cheese bread for appetizers. The clams were hearty and rich, the bread was perfect for sopping up extra clam toppings. The special seafood diavolo and chicken marsala were our appetizers. The special pasta was filled with seafood but was missing something I couldn't put my finger on. The Marsala was delicious. Parking at Market City is always kind of a pain, but it was worth it for this dinner,
We grew up in Kaimuki and this was a hidden gem then. Fast forward after living on the mainland for four years and recently moving back home, it is a treasure to see that this gem is STILL here! I love that it's casual and BYOB. It means they are focusing on the meal and that IS the reason you go out to eat right :) With super friendly service, we were warmly welcomed when we arrived for our dinner reservation. Without any hesitation, they graciously brought wine glasses and a bucket of ice for the bottles of wine that we brought in. Our server mentioned the two entree specials for the evening and gave us a moment to decide. Since we were there for early dinner, our order was cooked fresh and served expeditiously. Hard to believe that such delicious entrées were served so quickly. And yes, we smelled the aroma from their open kitchen and observed them cooking away. We started with the salad sampler and garlic bread. Those were great appetizers and perfectly sized to share among four. I was pleasantly surprised with their lamb chop and pasta special. Grilled up just right and served with a smokey tomato sauce, loved it. Famous for their huge slice of lasagna, this was also fresh with melted cheese and we added mushrooms. Big enough for two people to share! We also had a scallop capri which had large tender scallops over pasta with a white wine sauce, super good. Our favorite was the shrimp and scallop over pasta with a lobster creme sauce. On point! Incredibly tasty and not too thick with heavy cream. Everyone at our tabled enjoyed this dish the most! As most of the positive reviews shared, these are large portions and we gladly packed up leftovers so we had space for dessert. No joke, if you appreciate tart passion fruit, their fresh batch of lilikoi cheesecake is the winner! We also had their mud pie ice cream slice, which was also completely finished by the end of our delicious dine in experience. Thank you for another great dinner. It was recommended by my very Italian friend so of course I had to try it. I had the daily special. Honestly I was not blown away. It was a typical tomato based pasta with seafood. Service was good, chef was pleasant. Pretty low key in the decor so I consider it pretty casual. We weren't rushed so it was nice to be able to hang out and chat.
This place is always consistent with amazing Italian food. I'll order clams casino as well if i had more room. Service is quick and friendly. Very nice place for low key family dinners. They have promotion right now for gift cards $80 for $100.
Hidden above Thai Issan in market city shopping center. Large portion Italian food and desserts. We usually order takeout because there's limited dine in seating that can feel a little claustrophobic. Service is always friendly and prompt. They have a huge menu that can pretty much cater to any of your request. They also have yummy cheesecakes that are worth checking out.
Seafood Pasta We haven't been to Win-Spuntino for a while, we finally had a chance to have Italian food again and were not disappointed. The chef came out and described the special that he had and we were sold. Seafood Pasta with Lobster, Shrimp, Scallops on Pasta. We shared the dish and also ordered their Salad Sampler, A little of all their salads. The food is just as I remember and will definitely be back again. The location is at the Market City Shopping Center and up the stairs next to Thai Issan restaurant.
It's time for me to update my review and I note that it's been 5 years since I've dined here last. A few things remain constant and the same and they are 1) parking, 2) Chef and Owner Ken still pleasant, 3) price point... $25, 4) BYOB no corkage This visit, I had their shrimp alfredo and my dining partner had the chicken and sausage marinara. We shared an appetizer, their bread with bacon and cheese. Yes, we had our own wine. It never ceases to amaze me the quantity and size of each order. I ate what I could and carried with me 2/3 of my meal. I'm still nibbling away at it. The bacon and cheese bread was okay. They may want to char the top a bit as the bacon (at least on my piece) didn't seem cooked enough. Go early so you can get a seat. Parking available on the lower deck area (outside Mezzo and Ben Franklin Crafts). My suggestion for 2 diners? Order ONE entree, ONE salad or appetizer and share... Call it good with that.....
The first time I tried their pasta was by take-out. Normally I feel like take-out portions are smaller than dining in, but the portion was huge! I shared the shrimp scampi with my friend and it was enough to feed us both. The pasta was cooked perfectly and for someone who loves lots of garlic, this pasta was chef's kiss. I also liked that the container was wrapped so sauce wouldn't spill out especially when scampi sauce is very oily. The second time I tried their pasta was at the restaurant. It's a little hole in the wall located upstairs of Thai Issan Cuisine. I came on a Saturday and luckily there was no wait and got seated right away. This place is BYOB with about five tables. This time I had the Penne Ricotta and it was super filling. I love that they add a lot of ricotta and mozzarella because I love my pastas extra cheesy. I even ended up eating some of the sauce. This place is perfect for a pasta date or lunch/dinner with friends :)
It's been a while since I've been here since cutting back on high caloric pasta meals. Almost walked by Win-Spuntino on the way to Foodland. The tempting photo menu distracted me. Quickly called in an order before small kine grocery shopping. Ever since Judy C turned me onto just how delicious garlic anchovy olio is at another local favorite Italian restaurant, have been craving it. Ordered one serving of chicken anchovy olio and one of the shrimp scallop diablo on takeout. Did my grocery shopping then returned to pickup order. Food was delicious. Regret didn't get an order of my favorite side salads. Will just have to go back again soon for it! Do I wish there was more protein on the pasta dishes? Yes. Though at a considerable discount over competitors, I can add more in later. Or, wonder If I can buy a double portion of protein? Hmmmm...must ask. Mike O previously mentioned huge portions at low prices in his review. Tho prices have gone up a bit, still a great value. Five Stars for value! Good food, but we had to wait awhile for our food because there was only one cook. We went during lunch on a Saturday. Waitress was very courteous and gave us refills on ice tea. It's a small cozy restaurant upstairs near Foodland Market City. I would go there again! read more

Aloha Ahiahi :)...... Good tasting Italian food served here, in fact come here Hungry & you will surely enjoy their Yummy food here!! The portions here are huge, where you could actually share your choice of your Ono Italian Grinds/Selection with your Spouse, Friend, Girlfriend, Boyfriend, etc. For reals, I'm telling u the truth about this place. Lol. My Hubby ordered a Lasagna & I ordered Chicken Asparagus w/Garlic Butter & White Wine Sauce, Omg!, when all 3 of our plates arrived to our table, I felt Full already!! Haha. Oh, our Good friend Gregg ordered an Eggplant Parmigiana dish, I neva take a picture of his plate, since I felt let da guy eat & enjoy this time! Lol. Getting back to our Onolicious Food/Grinds, I kept on asking my Hubby David if I could dip my piece of Garlic Bread into his Meat Sauce, it looked so delicious! Honestly, I wanted to switch plates when I saw his Huge Lasagna meal & I saw my Chicken w/Asparagus Pasta, only because I know my Husband, he loves Asparagus & I heard him say when my plate Arrived to our table, Wow!!, your Food looks so good, which btw my Food was Super Duper Good Tasting! Although I do admit that I do prefer DA "Red Sauce" more :) As all 3 of us were eating & enjoying our good tasting Italian Food this evening, I knew that I wasn't going to even eat half of my dish, I still had one eye on my Hubby Lasagna! Lol. I forgot to mention that we did order a Side order of Garlic Bread, which I ate 2 pieces. Oink! Mahalo Nui guys for letting me eat 2 of 'em & the both of you only ate 1 piece of Garlic Bread. If you've never tried some Garlic Bread from here @Win-Sputino, order the "Garlic Cheese Bread", I prefer that one way more, it'll melt in your mouth, it's that good!! We were pretty much almost done eating & the very Coolest Guy (Tony/ One of the Owners) asked us if we needed any Containers for our leftovers, yes please, 1 ea., for the Hubby & I. Both of us will enjoy our leftovers for our Lunches tomorrow, much Mahalo Nui Loa to Win-Sputino. Tony, then asked us if we wanted to order any Desserts, but neither of the guys wanted to order any, as I was thinking about maybe ordering a Coffee Gelato, but I changed my mind, since hello I did have 2 slices of Garlic Bread! Lol. Lastly our Bill arrived, Hubby & Gregg pd. their portions, etc, & Tony asked us if we needed a pkg for our leftovers & I responded, yes please & Mahalo! Tony brought back to our table 2 pkgs. (Lge & Sm) one's & I thanked him for everything & told him that our food was Good & Delicious, it was really nice seeing him after all this time we haven't seen him during the past 2 1/2 yrs. (Covid!!)...... Then the next thing we knew, he brought over a Cute nice piece of one of their "Oreo Cheesecake" & told us that was for us & he wanted to thank us for Supporting them (Tony & Danny), all the times in the past we used to come to his "Cellphone Kiosk", 8+ yrs ago which used to be located on the 2nd Flr, same area were there *Win-Sputino* Restaurant is now located at. I felt that was such a nice gesture on his part, thank you again so much Tony!! Your such a very nice Owner & person!! **In my mind, I still wanted to pay for the "Oreo Cheesecake". I know my Hubby & I will definitely be back to *Win-Sputino* again in the Future, & I will definitely order that Coffee Gelato & Onolicious "Garlic Cheese Bread" for sure the next time when we come back!!! Win-Spuntino Italian Cafe located in the Market City Shopping Center. Appetizers Clam casino consisted of clams, mushrooms, bacon and onions sauteed in garlic butter white wine sauce. Delicious! The sauce was so delicious we dipped our garlic cheese bread in it. Garlic cheese bread, its crispy edges, biting into it hearing that delightful crunch! Soft in the center, cheesy and garlicky delicious! Deep fried calamari was moist, perfectly cooked served on a bed of chopped romaine lettuce, and marinara sauce for dipping. The size of the calamari was like a mozarella cheese stick! Yum! Entrees Ribeye & shrimp alfredo pasta. The 8 ounce steak was ordered medium rare but it came out well done. We did not fuss, ate it and it was good and still tender. It came with mushrooms and onions cooked in a white wine butter sauce and a side of broccoli. The two shrimps were jumbo size. Chicken piccata with spaghetti was delicious! Two generous portions of perfectly cooked chicken breasts, sauteed in lots of chopped garlic, capers, butter and white wine sauce. Seafood combo with linguine in alfredo sauce was good but not enough sauce to coat the pasta. This dish had a few strips of calamari, two jumbo shrimps and a lot of clams, which the latter made up for the sauce. Lobster special had two pieces of scallops, a couple of shrimps, mushrooms, spinach, and chopped tomatoes in a lobster creme sauce, which was good. Although, we had expectations of lobster meat in it. Dessert Chocolate oreo cheesecake was delicious! Oreo cookie crumb toppings, cheesecake and a blend of chocolate and cheesecake and a chocolate crust... divine. Black sesame ice cream. The black sesame was very subtle. I could hardly taste it, but the ice cream was creamy and refreshing. The restaurant is small and quaint, simply decorated with a painting and bunches of artificial grapes hanging from the ceiling. If seated in view of their small kitchen, you can watch them cook. It was a two man crew that night we went but they were still attentive in checking on us and refilling our water. The food came out quickly too. They are so on it. They are located near Foodland and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, upstairs of Thai Issan Cuisine. Walk up the stairway at the right where there's a sign KJ's hairstyling. Parking is free but very busy as there are many other restaurants and establishments. Their dish portions are generous, some dishes with lots of sauce, to my liking. Their cooking is very tasty. As I reminisce, I am salivating and wondering when our next visit will be. read more

We are back again, we love this place for take out, the portions are enormous and one order can feed 2 people. This time we tried the sampler salad special, scallops & shirmp, seafood combo pasta with side of garlic bread. We tried the alfredo sauce on the seafood combo, it was good but a little runny (maybe from the heat condensation), pink sauce on the scallops & shrimp was okay, maybe we should have tried the garlic butter or regular marinara sauce. But overall great meal. The sampler salad special was really good you get to select any three salads we choose the beet, curry and greek, it was a great selection (could have had as a meal, so much salad). Service is always on point, only one time we had a short wait for our order, but most times it ready or they packing up when you get there. We don't normally dine it, its a tiny space and for us convenient to pick up. read more

I've been coming go this place for years! It's right next to the Market City Foodland on the second floor above the Thai restaurant and nail salon. I don't think there's any wheelchair access, unfortunately. Food: I usually get the chicken parmigiana or the spaghetti with meatball and Italian sausage. Love the flavors and the portion is huge! Make sure to get the cheesecake when you're there - it's always fresh and tasty :) Service: Staff has always been nice and I've never had a bad experience with them. Sweetest people ever Ambiance: Chill environment, place is really casual and nice. You're on the second floor so you can look outside and people watch as you're enjoying your meal Parking: Free! Park anywhere in the market city parking lot This place needs more recognition and more foot traffic. Perfect place for comfort meals with friends and family :) read more

Italian takeout dinner from @winspuntino at Market City in Kapahulu. They are located on the right side of Foodland on the 2nd floor above (I believe) a Thai restaurant. They were recently featured on Cheap Eats as well. This place gives a lot of food for your money & was very tasty. It was meant just for tonight's dinner but we had enough to carry us to tomorrow's dinner as well. We both got their Vegetable Pasta dishes; one with Marinara sauce, and the other in a Garlic sauce & both were onolicious! We will definitely be back to try their other dishes. One thing to add - they even wrapped up my marinara sauce pasta plate in a plastic wrap so that it wouldn't get messy in the bag. That's a thoughtful owner thinking of their customer's welfare. Support this local small business. We Enjoyed ordering take out for dinner. Went up to order, shopped at Foodland and picked up food within 20 minutes. Location: Market City next to Foodland, Upstairs from Thai Issan Restaurant. What we ordered: Garlic Cheese Bread Chicken Casino Chicken Saltimbocca Chicken Sorrentino Prices are better/ affordable Compared to Assagio. Taste is just as good. read more

A yummy hole in the wall kind of place! The staff was fabulous and so very kind. They were quick to help us & we also got our food very quickly. The garlic cheese bread was very cheesy which I like! A slight crisp, maybe would have even like more crisp but still very good. Lasagna was full of flavor. The sauce was delicious and as a whole it didn't feel like too much. There is parking since it is located by a Foodland. Also it's up some stairs so may keep an eye out! read more

Where do some of my reviews go? I know I've written one for Win-Spuntino many years ago but it's not there anymore. Is there a Yelp ghost stealing reviews? Ok, maybe quarantine is getting to me when I'm not working. Seriously though, my review just disappeared. After I posted a pic, several of my old pics popped up so I'm sure the review was done. All good since I have time to write another review. Win-Spuntino is located in Market City above Thai Issan. They are up the stairs next to the Thai Issan entrance. You can dine there or you can get takeout. Most of the time we get take out but have dined there a couple times. Portions are generous and the prices here are great! Flavors are good and they are very consistent in their dishes. Customer service is always friendly and with a smile. My sister loves this place and orders from them often. I'm happy to see them going strong after so many years. Check them out if you're craving Italian in the Kapahulu/Kaimuki area! Support local! read more

First time We visit this restaurant. It was so good food. Recently, all restaurants have been increasing their prices, making it difficult to eat out, but this place was very reasonably priced and had good service, so I really liked it. read more

Definitely the pluses outweigh the negative. Here goes. Pluses: 1) Prices are reasonable and the food is good. 2) The food is fresh and is served steaming hot. 3) BYOB. Nuff said. 4) Free parking in the Market City Shopping area. 5) Friendly service. Minuses: 1) There is no bathroom on premises. You have to walk a distance to the next building, about 2 minutes away. But once in there, the bathroom is well lit and clean. 2) The lighting in the restaurant is too bright and gives the place a cafeteria feel. It would've been nice if they lowered the lights a little bit. I enjoyed the food and will return to try other dishes. read more

Win-Spuntino is one of my go-tos! They give very generous portions for great prices (you're basically getting two meals when you order any one dish for about $15) I had the penne ricotta, which is coated in a rich, cheesy sauce. I don't know if this is the best Italian spot on the island, but as someone that comes from an Italian family, I would definitely say this restaurant measures up to the authentic dishes I've had. The customer service here is also superb - everyone's very friendly! The space inside is a little small, but I've never had to wait for a seat. Overall, Win-Spuntino is great for a quick bite to eat or if you want to take-out something tasty! read more
Win Spuntino is a true hidden gem. Many of my friends didn't know about this place until I introduced it to them, and they are all bringing their families here from now on! It's located to the right of Foodland in Market City, and there's a narrow staircase that leads to the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is pretty small, as I would think most people do takeout, but they were able to put two tables together for our party of 5. I had a piece of the garlic bread, penne ricotta, and a lilikoi cheesecake. The penne ricotta was huge and lasted me two meals. The pasta itself was super cheesy and flavorful. I wasn't going to get anything at first because I was so full from trying to finish the pasta. But, my friends and I peer pressured one another into getting the cheesecake. I decided to get the lilikoi flavor, while one of my friends got the original. My lilikoi one was super rich and the crust was amazing. I tried a bite of the original cheesecake, and it has to have been the best cheesecake I've had. It was so good, it's too hard to put into words. The guy working was super duper kind and working hard. He was very sympathetic for making us wait, but honestly my friends and I were having a good time anyways and were in no rush. I love Win Spuntino and will definitely be back for more delicious Italian food and the original cheesecake! read more

Came here with the family for Restaurant Week Food-A-Go-Go. I haven't been here in years so when I saw them on the list, we had to go. The place looks like it had a little makeover from my last visit, but I recognized those red checkered tablecloths. We started with the Greek salad and garlic bread. The salad was nice and refreshing, but the tomatoes were a bit mushy. Garlic bread was yummy. For dinner we ordered the shrimp scampi and chicken, shrimp, broccoli Alfredo and added mushrooms (for $2.50). Both were tasty, but the portions were smaller and the prices were higher. I guess everyone is trying to make up for the loss during the pandemic. We ended our dinner with key lime pie and lilikoi cheesecake. The pie was light and refreshing and the cheesecake was nice and rich. Perfect ending to our yummy dinner. If you dine here, don't forget to BYOW! They don't charge a corkage fee, so drink up! Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be back again. And if you're dining during Restaurant Week, don't forget to let them know so you can get 10% off your entire meal. read more

This restaurant has been opened for as long as I can remember. I remember always coming here when I was in high school for some delicious, HUGE portioned pasta. Decided to check it out again when a friend came to visit from California. It's located next to Foodland on the second floor, above Thai Issan Cuisine, at Market City. There's a parking lot that can get full and really crowded. The stalls are relatively narrow, so be careful when parking! There's additional parking in the back where Ben Franklin's is located. I got the seafood alfredo pasta that came with shrimp, squid, and clams. The portions were a lot smaller than I remembered them to be... but the fragrance of the food smelled soooo good. I couldn't wait to dig in! Took one bite, and it was bland. I added a bunch of parmesan cheese, and it was still relatively bland. I can definitely taste the seafood flavor but there wasn't a really "savory" flavor that stuck. My pasta did get a lot tastier overnight, surprisingly! I loved how there was a lot of seafood. TONS of clams and squid which was great! My friends all got the Lobster & Shrimp Creme pasta (odd man out). It was also kind of bland too. Didn't really taste the lobster flavor as it said there was. My friends also thought it was kind of bland even after drenching their plates with parmesan cheese. We all shared a fried calamari (super oily and chewy, which showed it was kind of old) and the garlic cheesy bread (used to be soooo good; now just eh). I did love the cheese pull though. The food I had this time around compared to the what I remembered was different. The flavor was alright and wasn't as amazing as I remembered it to be.
