I ordered the rice noodles expecting noodles 米粉 but they are really rich rolls 腸粉. The menu description is misleading. So beware. My order was in a pint container so it was it was small. It actually was a good portion and filled my frypan. And it's delicious.
After years on my bookmarks I finally got to try some goodies here! Absolutely delicious!! Need to go back and try everything!
Win Son Bakery is a Taiwanese-American bakery with savory eats and drinks. They are well-known for their scallion pancakes. There was a bit of a wait and tables are limited (you have to place an order and get your table number before they let you sit). The inside was very chatty and lively. My friends and I got the Pork Fan Tuan, Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Scallion Pancake, and Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Scallion Pancake. I was pleasantly surprised by the Pork Fan Tuan. It is kind of like a small sticky rice burrito with egg, pork floss, and more! It had a good salty taste. I was excited for the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Scallion Pancake, but I thought it was a bit too cheesy and kind of heavy. I could not taste the scallion pancake at all. I had a bit of my friend's Shrimp, Egg, and Cheese Scallion Pancake and the shrimp patty was great. It tasted like one of those shrimp patty dishes at dim sum. However, her scallion pancake was even cheesier than mine. I also thought the scallion pancakes were a bit pricey (almost $20) but it is NYC. The scallion pancakes came with this sauce that was really good! It was a bit tangy. I still liked the food here but it did not meet my expectations. I think I would get their regular scallion pancake next time just to really taste the scallion flavor.
Solid spot- definitely will have a line but moved quickly. Went with scallion pancake, milk bread, and shrimp burger. Shrimp choice was ok- should have gone reg burger. Pancake and milk bread were delicious- great flavors. Really loved the milk bread but overall recommend
Omg easiest 5 stars ever. This place is insane. Everything is phenomenal. The bacon egg and cheese scallion pancake sandwich is insanity. So buttery. The dipping sauce impeccable. The pastries were so good too. The mochi donut was particularly special. The peanut butter rolled pastry was so crispy and yummy. Pork fan tuan was a 4. Not sure I'm a total fan of the crispy stick in the center but loved the sticky rice with it. Easily returnable for me! I'll be back. Plenty of outdoor seating. Water colldddddd to drink while you wait.
Ordered the Taiwanese scallion pancake BEC (bacon egg cheese), the portion is enough to share between 2. A fun twist on a "breakfast burrito" but can't see myself returning. The braised pork belly rice dish was good but for $22 I'd pass. The total bill was about $44. Self service stations where you can grab your own water, utensils, and take-out containers.
The Jasmine Mango Milk Tea was absolutely stellar. It was so refreshing on a hot day. If you've ever had those thick mango juices, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. It has that same rich, fresh mango flavor, but without the heaviness. It's actually not thick at all and was incredibly refreshing. I usually don't reach for milk tea during the summer, but this honestly felt more like a refresher than a traditional milk tea. The space is also absolutely beautiful and honestly kind of magical. I loved all the flowers, greenery, and natural light. It felt like walking into a little garden, and it made me want to stay long after I finished my drink.
there was a short line when we got here, the seating system was confusing as you had to tell them you were dining in when ordering, and they would find you a seat. but there wasn't an obvious area to wait. I got the rousong (pork floss) scallion pancake, it was pretty greasy and quite heavy but it tasted good. I'd love to come back and try other items!
We came here on a sunday around noon. It was quite busy, but we only wait about 10 minutes in line to order and were quickly seated and brought our food. We ordered the pastrami beef tongue scallion pancake and a pork fan tuan to share. We enjoyed the pork fan tuan more, but found the portion to be quite small. The beef tongue in the scallion tongue was very tender and flavorful, but the cheese was very heavy and we would have liked it to be crispier. Don't expect to find authentic taiwanese food here, as it's definitely a fusion spot. The scallion pancake was served with some sort of mayo sauce, and they didn't have soy sauce.
Long lines but they move at a decent rate. Seats and tables are very tiny and it is beyond loud in there. The volume of the music and patrons can easily overstimulate a person especially considering how close the tables are to each other. The food is really good, I would do takeout next time. They provide really cute to go boxes for your leftovers.
This ripped. Mortadella egg and cheese on a scallion pancake?? !! So sick. Possibly the best fried chicken sandwich I've had in recent memory ?? ! ? So sick. Sweet corn custard bun ? ! So sick. Really nice cappuccino??? !!! So sick. Absolutely will be back.
No wait on a Sunday morning. The original Win Son on the other side of the river is always jam packed on weekends. So much so that I don't go as often and when I do it's always takeout since I don't have as much patience as I grow older(who does?), to sit and wait on a line. These scallion pancakes are definitely better when eaten right away, not layered into a box to steam and get soggy. LOL. They are also definitely a little more greasy than you normally breakfast sammie but as a treat, it was delicious. The crisp oniony pancake adds a layer of flavor. The shrimp may not have added as much to the bite, I think next time I'd try something different. As I said up top, no wait did add to the experience. Once you order you are on your own to find seating inside or out. You take the table number to your table and your breakfast will magically appear in 15 mins. Definitely a more comforting experience.
They have a pretty efficient system at this location to get those orders moving and making sure everyone gets a seat! I've been multiple times but I still obsess over their mochi donut. It's just such a good texture and not too sweet. Their scallion pancake breakfast wraps are always solid but so so heavy and this time around it felt extra greasy. Overall, I think it's always worth trying Win Son bakery at least once!
I think Win Son is a very solid 4 star bakery and cafe. It's a Taiwanese-American fusion spot with yummy scallion pancake sandwiches, and very good espresso based drinks. It feel very cool and bright inside, with lots of happy plants and good music playing (electric relaxation ). I got the egg and cheese scallion pancake, and a xiao guai guai (cortado). The pancake was pretty expensive, at $15, and not too big. However it tasted really good- not greasy as I feared but nice and chewy, with fluffy eggs and cheese inside the pocket. The hot sauce that comes with it is a game changer... it isn't too spicy, and gives the pancake a delicious burst of flavor. The xiao guai guai was very well made; smooth, creamy, and slightly bitter in the perfect way. I can't speak to the quality of their pastries, but many people seemed to be getting a sweet treat with their scallion pancake or fan tuan. If I come back I'll definitely try out the mochi donut or pine nut sun cookie! read more

solid breakfast/brunch spot! we got there on a saturday around 11am and there was a bit of a wait, but the food came pretty fast once ordered. i really liked how the fried egg had a runny yolk in the fantuan! drinks also weren't too sweet which i appreciate. only complaint is that it's a bit pricey for what it is read more
The food was delicious, especially the Pork Fan Tuan. The rice had the perfect texture--similar to mango sticky rice--and the crispy pork inside was a great addition. There was egg as well, which brought everything together perfectly. If you visit, you have to try the black sesame latte. It was incredible and made to perfection. Although it's a bit pricey at $8, I definitely think it's worth it. I also ordered the BEC scallion pancake, which was excellent. It came with a ginger deluxe dipping sauce, but honestly, it was delicious even without it. The pancake arrived warm and crispy--super tasty. I really liked the interior, too. There are plenty of tables, plus side areas on both ends of the dining area where you'll find to-go boxes, utensils, napkins, and water--super convenient and a great touch. Note: I came early in the morning when it wasn't busy (no line at all), and I thought it might be a cute spot to get some work done. However, after asking for the WiFi password, I learned that laptops aren't allowed here. So if you're looking for a place to work, it's better to check out a nearby park or library instead. Heard a lot about win son so I had to check it out as a fan of taiwanese breakfast. I really enjoyed their fan tuan, the you tiao inside was crispy and crunchy- as it should be! Executed very well. The rice was nice and chewy, the pork was savory, and the addition of the eggs made for a nice protein-ed start to the day. I would definitely order this again. The tian doujiang was refreshing and perfect. Good soymilk flavor. Not too sweet. It came with a fresh you tiao which was tasty when dipped. The rest of the items I tried were pretty subpar unfortunately. I tried the side scallion pancake as I didn't think I could eat an entire sandwich (and also heard they were a bit greasy). Unfortunately the pancake was pretty hard and it had an unpleasant flavor imo that was oddly shrimpy. The chili oil dip it came with was tasty though. The pancake itself wasn't very flavorful. The millet mochi donut was pretty much like a butter mochi- very chewy texture. A bit dense, very heavy feeling and greasy. The flavor was alright. read more
Bec scallion pancake and egg and cheese pancake both delicious and served hot and crispy both come with delicious ginger dipping sauce and my favorite thing was the seasonal jasmine mango tea I had to get two. Went during the week so it was quick and no line service was friendly and quick. Inside is cute they have lots of plants all alone the shelf which is lovely. read more
I had a pretty good experience here! Despite coming on a Saturday afternoon, I was able to order, get a seat, and dine in within 45 minutes. There's a single stall bathroom straight in the back. There was a line out the door when I got there but it moved fast. The longest time I had to wait was for a table. After you order, you stand in a different line for a table with your number. J didn't realize there was a dine in component here with servers bringing your order and giving you water. So tip your servers! There are 2 areas where you can get utensils, napkins, and hot s I got the bacon scallion pancake ($17.42 with tax). It came with this orange sauce that I really enjoyed. I don't know what it was to be honest but I really liked it. I also got hot sauce to dip it in. I would say that it's a solid sandwich (?), but not worth $17. I love scallion pancake anything so that's why I enjoyed it. read more
Win Son continues to serve things that surprise me in flavor and innovation. Seasonal nian gao: they've turned the usual Chinese New Year item from steamed glutinous rice cake to a superior competitor to the donut. It carries the summer berry compote on top really well. The pine nut cookie is sticky, flaky, and caramelized. read more
This bakery in the heart of NYC's East Village is a must try and for many good reasons! The millet mochi donut (go) had a great texture with a slight chewiness and dusted with ginger, cinnamon and cardamom. It also paired nicely with the hot mango milk tea with a nice creamy foamy top. One thing that was shopping deelish was the scallion pancakes. They were cooked to crispy perfection and my wife said it reminded her of the kind she used to have in Hong Kong as a child. The chili crisp hot sauce was irresistible for dipping the pancakes into! The menu has so many unique dishes with some with an Asian twist and will definitely put this place into our rotation on future visits! The vibe and ambiance was lively with each table filled at lunch time but the turnaround is quick and the servers have it down to a "t" to make sure you're seated when a spot opens up. read more

4.8 STARS So happy that Win Son finally opened a location in the city! Since I visit out of state a few times a year, it's somehow out of the way to trek all the way to Brooklyn. This is a much easier location that is close to a lot of other cool spots. Vibes= 5/5. I came here at around 3 pm on a weekday and was surprised to see it was full. Plenty of seating so that wasn't a problem. I love the bright and clean interiors. Just an overall vibey atmosphere! I also wanted to commend the to-go area on the side where you can grab a box and bag if in case you want to take leftovers. Food=5/5! As amazing as I thought they would be. They have so many options of both traditional and modernized Taiwanese items like scallion pancakes, pastries that I'm also impressed were still available fresh in the afternoon, etc. The sweetened soy milk I had was so delicious and is very similar to authentic ones in Taiwan. The chicken wings were delicious as well. read more

I was finally able to head to the much hyped Win Son Bakery. And it delivered. Although the line was very long--out the door--the establishment worked relatively fast and the manner in which it is very impressive. First you order your food after being in line, then you are assigned a number there is a separate line for tables. This avoids situations where a one person takes over a table while the other waits to order food. Very efficient and fair. I had the scallions pancake breakfast burrito and it was so good. The scallion was so flavorful and it complemented the eggs and bacon so well. Especially with the sauce. The star of the show, however, was the mochi donut. Wow. It was truly the best donut I have ever had. It had a cotton candy like texture to it when chewing. So unique! This is great spot for brunch with friends and you are guaranteed a great time with their amazing food. 5/5. read more
we came around 1:55 on a saturday and ordered/ got seated by 2:15. the line builds up and got pretty long after. you grab your own water and utensils millet mochi donut 8.5/10 the chew is the best part of the donut. really good texture. it's not insanely sweet. i would order this again pork fantuan. 6/10 i like pork floss on bread but not sure how i feel with the rice. a little bit dry. would not order again bec scallion pancake 8.5/10 - came out super fresh and hot. i would def get this again. the flavor taste pretty american fusion given the bec but still reminds me i'd taiwanese breakfast overall 8/10 i would def come here again if the lines were shorter and try different scallion pancakes. Good atmosphere, good staff, and decent food, but buyer beware... INSANELY OVERPRICED! I ordered a banana tart and a caramel jujube iced latte, IT CAME OUT TO $17! For the tart I somewhat understand the price, but the coffee is insanely small and costs $8. I thought it would've been a lot bigger for such a price but was let down. I understand inflation but $17 for only two items which are quite small, this is robbery. read more

Made the trip to Win Son on a Monday afternoon after hearing so much about it! The line was short and we were lucky to find a table immediately after ordering. The workers were so kind and helpful the whole time. We ordered the egg and cheese scallion pancake, pork fan tuan, and the vanilla cream bun. The scallion pancake was my favorite, although the sauce is slightly overpowering. Next time I would add the bacon. The fan tuan was my sisters favorite. The pork is sweet, salty, and crispy! It balances perfectly with the chewy rice. We also tried the vanilla cream bun which was absolutely stuffed with custardy vanilla bean filling. The bun itself was soft and not overly sweet but it just wasn't an item we'd order again. Would love to visit again to try different things! I'm not sure how I'd feel if we had to wait in a very long line or wait for a table like I've read. read more
I've been to the original location a couple of times and really enjoyed the food every time I've been, but the location and lines meant that I rarely go. I have eagerly awaited the opening of this new location in East Village and went during their first week. The space itself is very open and bright, making it feel very welcoming, though laptops are not allowed and there's no WiFi. I think they still have some kinks to work out with the ordering because I waited ~15 minutes after ordering just to get a couple of pastries (they didn't require reheating). But I'll say even with the extra wait, the food is worth it! The red date cake is a MUST TRY -- I didn't try this until my third visit but since then I've always gotten it. The mochi donut has great taste and texture. The fan tuan is a delicious savoury snack if you're looking for something other than a pastry. The only "miss" that I had here was the custard toast (it's the only thing I managed to get a photo before it got completely devoured), I thought it was too bready and had not enough custard. read more
I tried a bunch of different menu items after seeing hype around this spot and left thinking that some menu items were better than others. For drinks, I tried both the Mango Jasmine Tea and the Alishan High Mtn, both of which I thought were relatively weak (even after seeping the Alishan for a while). For the food items, my favorites by far were the fantuan and the custard toast - I would recommend these to anyone trying this spot. Unfortunately those are the only two items i would recommend - the scallion pancake had the texture of a cracker than an actual scallion pancake and I didn't really care for their egg and bacon scallion pancake sandwich, which is supposedly their signature item. Service was exceptionally nice and helpful and I did enjoy the fantuan and custard toast which is why I rate this spot as a 4 star instead of lower. However I personally wouldn't want the other menu items again. read more
Went here on a Sunday around noon and there was a line outside the door. From my understanding, their lines are consistently out the door, but it moved fairly quickly for me. They are very organized in terms of seating so we were sat before we got our food which was nice. The food was pretty good, but both dishes we ordered were walking the line of being too salty. The scallion pancake for the BEC scallion pancake could have been more crispy. The imperial glaze chicken box was also very good and saucy, but the fries were the star of that dish. The sauce for both the fries and the scallion pancake was also very good. It was a tangy aioli. I had the 5 spice latte and didn't really like it. It wasn't very sweet and this spice is used primarily on meats so it reminded me of savory dishes. I'd come here again to try some of their pastries. I would definitely try ordering on the app to order ahead or depending on the line because I checked the to-go app and it showed that I could get the food within 20 minutes. read more
I was walking by when I realize this is the bakery from Williamsburg. As a Taiwanese American, I appreciate how the owners have highlighted the cuisine and based on the reviews I was super excited to try. Since we were on our way to movie theater, we decided to take out. Upon going into the bakery, the place is very busy though the line moved fast to order. The place is clean, new-ish and diner like. We decided to order BEC Scallion pancake & Lou rou Bao. The wait was about 10 minutes after order then receipt of food. After 20 minutes arriving at our destination we ate our takeout. While the Lou rou Bao was delicious, it was greasy. The BEC sandwich lacked salt and do was bland than I thought. Unfortunately I had greater expectations. I will not go out of the way to try again. But if I happen to pass by, we will see. read more

We ordered the Fried chicken milk bun with wasabi salad (fried chicken and veggies were fantastic, milk bun tastes like a bun), San bei ji chop'd cheese scallion pancake with fries (super flavorful, but tasted the least healthy), Pork bian dang (well flavored), Pork fan tuan (pretty standard), Snow pea salad (refreshing), Almond chocolate Bo lo bao (didn't taste the bolobao, tastes like a very sweet pastry). We also ordered the jasmine mango milk tea and the caramel jujube latte - I think I'd skip the latte next time. read more
I was so excited to see the bakery down the block from me and didn't know when it would open for dine in. I walked outside this morning and there was a line already at 8:45AM! They opened at 9AM and the line increased and died down towards 10AM. The menus don't have pricing at the moment which makes the $30 breakfast a surprise. I've never been to the Brooklyn locations so I got the BEC scallion pancake ($15), the pork fan tuan ($7) and a regular latte with oatmilk ($5). Definitely forego the regular latte, I'm not partial to black sesame or the specialty flavors but if I were I'd go for those. The BEC is a really decent portion - a bit oily for my tastes and it overwhelmed any of the flavors inside. The Chipotle Mayo (?) sauce it was served with helped a lot. I think I could really enjoy the pork fantuan - don't forget to peel off the plastic wrap! The rice is soft and the pork floss is quite good. It comes with a tasty chili oil! My only gripe is that there was an extremely hard piece of pork on one end that I couldn't chew through and had to shove the whole thing in my mouth to use my molars haha. There is a decent amount of seating, mostly geared towards party of 2s but you can push a table together. It's fast casual but it got a bit awkward bc they basically have you sit in the same order that you ordered in, which for the first day I understand they want to optimize serving as quickly and easily as possible. What I didn't like was that I had to sit next to a couple that had just very obviously came from a run and not to be rude, had an odor. There was other seats that opened up as the pace of customers eating outpaced the order being served, but it didn't feel like I could move. Hopefully another time I can sit where I want instead of all packed in like sardines. read more
Love this bacon, egg and cheese scallion pancake! Definitely enough to split, the sauce is delicious too. Love all of their donuts! Line goes pretty quickly and we got a seat outside. Service is great & food comes fairly quickly. Super packed for Saturday brunch but still good vibes. read more
Love that there's a Win Son in Manhattan now! Ive been wanting to try this bakery for the longest time. I stopped in as a post dinner treat and there was still a decent selection of baked goods. I really liked both pasties I tried, super tasty. Highly recommend! read more
Pretty delicious. I'm Taiwanese- it's a fusion cafe but the flavors are authentic. Got cold brew and a rice roll with tofu. The tofu reminded me of the braised tofu my mom used to make. Cold brew was good too. Came on a Friday afternoon- it was crowded but eventually found a table. Really nice clean cafe and roomy enough. read more
The Taiwanese fan tuan was so yummy! taste exactly like Vietnamese xoi lap suong. it has pork floss, eggs, and I think chinese sausages rolled in sticky rice. Very yummy. their mochi donut and the red rice donut was also great but texture of these two was similar. I would just get one next time. I got the caramel jujube but didnt care much for it. The place was a short walk from now now noho hotel. I love this neighborhood, very close to good food. read more

We didn't encounter any issues with service, the staff seemed pretty nice. Music was loud, couldn't have a proper conversation without repeating myself a gazillion times LOL. Food took about 15 mins to come to our table. I had this place on my list for so long and unfortunately nothing we ordered hit the spot. Overhyped, overpriced. The food was greasy, underwhelming, and heavy. Both scallion pancakes we ordered gave us quesadilla vibes. I could see how some people would enjoy Winson as is, but because it's marketed as Taiwanese-American I personally wouldn't return (more American than Taiwanese). Jiu cai egg cheese scallion pancake ($17): mild and relying on the cheese, no scallion pancake flavor. San bei ji scallion pancake ($21): no scallion pancake flavor, no san bei ji flavor. Has that familiar breakfast burrito flavor though. Pork fan tuan ($7): I may be wrong but the pork is referring to just pork floss and not actual pork meat. Bland, small portion, thin layer of rice. Sweet soymilk ($4): thicker consistency than expected, but not grainy. I'm the type to order 30%-50% sweetness for drinks, and I didn't taste sweetness at all in the soymilk. read more
Win Son is so good. There is lots of seating both inside and outside. Service was quick and they bring your food to your table. We got the bec scallion pancake and the mochi donut. The sauce they give along with the scallion pancake is really good too. Also love the ambiance at this bakery. Lots of plants inside with the aesthetic of an Asian bodega. This place is pretty viral online, so I was really excited to try it out. Unfortunately, it came in way below my expectations. The inside of the bakery is cute with a good amount of seating. There was no line when I arrived on a Thursday around noon, so I ordered right away. However, it took me a long time to get my food, and several customers that came in after me got their food before me. When my bacon, egg, and cheese scallion pancake finally arrived, I was disappointed. Firstly, the scallion pancake was slightly soggy rather than crispy like I would have expected. Due to the floppiness, the sandwich started to fall apart. The best part of the sandwich was the dipping sauce that came on the side. Without the sauce, the sandwich wasn't very flavorful. I probably won't be back to this East Village location, but I might go give the original in Brooklyn a try. read more
Win Son is a unique fusion Taiwanese cafe, with a big selection of both savory and sweet pastries. The egg and cheese scallion pancake was so good, it's fresh and crispy. I also loved the sauce that came with it. The fan tuan was also really good, with pork floss and egg inside. It's mostly self-service, with lots of tables. It can get crowded, but people come and go pretty fast. It's very casual inside. read more
Checked out the new location of this bakery in the East Village after being a regular at their original Williamsburg shop. The new spot has the same cool menu, but I think the Williamsburg location edges out a bit in execution. Tried the Millet Mochi Donut here, which is definitely the standout--unique texture and really different from your typical mochi donut. The Red Rice donut is a staple I've had before; good, but not as memorable as the millet one and doesn't stand out much compared to other donuts in NYC. My favorite bakery item has to be the Pine Nut Sun Cookie. Even though it's not mind-blowing at first bite, I honestly just keep reaching for it and snacking without even realizing as I chat--kind of addictive! The vanilla cream bun, however, was underwhelming. Prices are on the higher side, but that feels fair given the creative flavors and limited options for this style of bakery in the city. Popular in Brooklyn and seems to be picking up in the East Village, too. We could easily find a table for our group of five in the afternoon, but there are definitely times when you'll see a line out the door read more
The chicken sandwich is the truth. Food came out relatively quickly, they bring you the food and there's an area with cups/utensils/water pitchers. Love this spot. Go to order is bacon egg and cheese scallion pancake - it's really filling. I usually only eat half and save the rest for later or split with a friend. The sauce they give you is addicting. The fan tuan is also incredible. Plenty of indoor seating. read more
Been wanting to try for a long time. Came on a Wednesday for lunch and didn't have to wait in line. Ordered the scallion pancake egg and cheese and enjoyed it! Wish it had some more veggies or something but it was delish and the sauce was amazing. Yum, I def need to come back and try the pastries.
