A 40min wait starting 9.30 am on a Sunday morning for what turned out to be a wholesome 2x2x2 - a full plate of griddle cakes, sausage, and scrambled eggs. I definitely didn't miss the syrup! Ingredients were super fresh and service was friendly! The wait outdoors on a hot sunny day, and slightly cramped and busy interiors is why I docked a star, but truly, this brunch spot deserves all the attention it is getting! Go brunch!
Most perfect soft scrambled eggs I've had. The sausage patties were seasoned/spiced great. Unique pancakes with a crispy exterior and gooey interior that truly did not need syrup.
The hype is real, but come early. I've never had oatmeal griddle pancakes before but these are AMAZING. Literally my favorite pancakes in the city. I got the 2x2x2 for $18. I stuck with OG pancakes, sunny side up eggs, and chicken sausage. The pancakes have such crispy edges and the inside is gooey oatmeal batter. I wish i could buy the mix and make these at home. Come early to not wait in line for hours. We waited ~30 min around 930am.
Came here on a random Tuesday and did not have to wait on a line at all. Now I know when I have passed by here there is always a line on weekends here though. You order and pay at the counter before sitting down at a table or the little bar seating area they have. There are not too many tables here. I wanted to try the og griddle cakes. I had no idea what to expect and didn't even think I would be able to have them due to all my food allergies. But I was able to try them. Came with melted cinnamon molasses butter which gave it alot of flavor. I also had a side of scrambled eggs. I would not get them again. Tasted a bit odd to me. But I would come bacl for the griddle pancakes but I would not wait on line for more than 20 min for this place. But, I would like to come back.
Pancakes are always on my mind, and when I saw the oat griddle cakes I knew I had to give them a try. We came around 11am on a Friday and there was a shortish line outside. You order at the counter before seating yourself. We got the griddle cake combo that comes with eggs and your choice of protein. I chose a soft scramble and the pork sausage. I also chose banana chocolate chip pancakes and my friend got the original. The oat cakes are delicious. My recommendation is to go with the original. It's a thin, but very flavorful oat cake with molasses butter. Because of the nature of the pancake, it doesn't hold things like banana and chocolate chip very well. Still delicious, but it turned into a mush. The soft scrambled eggs are the most rich and beautiful yellow I've seen. I wonder how they do it. The pork sausage is a must, so good. Definitely try this place out during the week so you don't have to wait in a super long line. Definitely a nice spot to grab breakfast with a friend on a weekday.
These pancakes totally fit the hype. They were so moist and flavorful, even without syrup. The sausages were also seasoned really well. And the home fries were crispy and great. The 2x2x2 is a great deal to try a bunch of stuff, and the banana walnut pancakes were an amazing flavor. We got on line at 10:30 on a Sunday (Easter Sunday!) and waited an hour to get seated. After that, the food came pretty quickly and was so worth it.
{Overall: 4; Food: 4} Ambiance: 3.5; Service: 4 Breakfast by Salt's Cure is known for its oatmeal griddle cakes. The texture is much softer and more mushy than a traditional pancake. We tried both the original and the blueberry versions and preferred the original, especially with butter. The scrambled eggs and sausage were also solid. We went on a weekday afternoon, which was ideal since there was no line. The environment is casual. You order at the counter, get a number, and seat yourself. Everyone was friendly. This feels more like a novelty than something I could eat regularly like typical brunch. It's good, but I wouldn't wait in line for more than 15 minutes. If you can go at an off time, it is a nice little treat.
This place had been on my list for ages, but the dreaded wait times kept me away--until now. I finally gave in and arrived early for brunch at 9a.m. Even then, it took about 30-40 minutes in the cold before I was seated. I ordered the 2x2x2 with the OG pancake stack, eggs over easy, and chicken sausage. My table also had a version with banana walnut pancakes, scrambled eggs, and pork sausage. The pancakes were phenomenal--fluffy yet hearty, with bits of oats adding a satisfying texture. I liked the OG stack but preferred the salted butter that accompanied the banana walnut version over the cinnamon butter. The pork sausage edged out the chicken, both salty against the sweetness of the pancakes but it seemed to work out just well. Coffee arrives in classic diner mugs and is refillable--a nice touch. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable breakfast spot.
Had friends visiting from Texas so of course we took them to Salt's Cure. Always a crowd-pleaser, and today was no exception. There are no reservations here and by 10am there was already a line. Waited about 25 minutes then ordered up front, were seated and had our food in minutes. We went with the combo (get everything) and it absolutely delivered. The OG griddle cakes are perfection. It's great texture, just the right sweetness, honestly don't even need syrup. Total staple and 100% a place I'll keep coming back to.
Ordered: 2x2x2 (~$18): 2 OG Oatmeal Griddle Cakes, 2 Soft Scramble Eggs, 2 Chicken Sausage Patties 2x2x2 (~$20): 2 Banana Nut Oatmeal Griddle Cakes, 2 Soft Scramble Eggs, 2 Chicken Sausage Patties Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice (~$6) Home Fries (~$5): crispy golden potatoes Aya's take: Finally trying the famous Breakfast by Salt's Cure! I waited about 20-30 minutes in line for a table for 2 which didn't seem too bad compared to other spots in the area. Once you enter, you place your order at the register, and then find a table. Service was fairly quick after that as we received our food ~10 minutes later. I love the 2x2x2 since you get a little bit of everything and it's just the right portion! The eggs were a perfect soft scramble and so delicious with a touch of hot sauce. I honestly didn't care for the chicken sausage patties flavor-wise but I highly appreciate the fact that there's a non-pork option available! The best part was definitely the Oatmeal Griddle Cakes. They're thin and crisp yet soft and sweet - arguably better than regular pancakes. The OG comes with cinnamon molasses butter which was so rich & tasty! The Banana Nut was slightly sweeter from the banana and super satisfying! I would highly recommend adding the Home Fries. I feel like it completed the meal with that crunchy & salty bite. Their Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice was super refreshing and actually freshly squeezed! My only complaint is the cup is too small to be charging $6! Nonetheless, loved having brunch here and I totally understand the hype!
Went during the week in the morning there was a line outside even though there was lots of empty seats. The person letting people in is the same one taking the orders and making drinks hence the long line outside. I got the pancakes and chicken special the pancakes were good and the chicken was crispy and great flavor. The service was ok but not the best. When I went to place my order another employee interrupted for a drink he forgot and the bathroom has mold.
Everything is reasonably priced here, and tastes delicious! We came on a Friday morning at around 10:30ish, and there was a bit of a line out the door, but only because there is a small waiting area inside - I was second in line outside, but got in after maybe 20 minutes max. They make you order before you seat yourself, but their menu is not too overboard, which makes it quick. By the time we left (around 12:00 pm), there were quite a few tables that were empty and no line. The interior had pretty good natural lighting and felt very homey. We got the 2x2x2 (2 pancakes, 2 sausages, and 2 eggs where we customized the pancakes for one to have chocolate chip and one to have banana), and it tasted amazing. I really liked the molasses butter on the original one, but I wished they had given more on the side. The edges of the pancakes were pretty crispy, but once you got to the middle, it was a bit more gooey and moist. Overall, really liked the pancakes, where the flavor of the oats makes it taste incredible. I got the pork sausage on the side, and it was also pretty flavorful and crispy, as well as two scrambled eggs.
Ahh-mazing!!! Yes, yes, yes! I was visiting and had to come here due to TikTok. Salt's Cure delivered tenfold. Oh my, talk about melt in your mouth goodness. Service was exceptional and the establishment was clean, welcoming, and received a lot of natural light. I would come back in a heartbeat, can't wait until next time.
Decided to grab a last minute brunch with a friend. Always wanted to try this place. I got the 2x2x2 breakfast with the OG pancakes. Food was good Because of the lines I've seen for this place, I was expecting a bit more frill. The counter service made for a quick experience. Unfortunately, this is not my favorite setup. This can be a good go to spot for a casual and simple breakfast. read more
I've been to their locations in LA & NY, and I'm consistently surprised by how undercooked everything is. I've never personally ordered their sausages, but my friends have and they are consistently scared to eat them because they are a tad raw. The eggs are served as wet scrambled eggs and the middle of my pancakes are consistently runny (not just overly buttered but like actual raw batter in the middle). The flavors are great and I like the oat base of the pancakes - I just hate that I can't leave without watching for food poisoning symptoms after. I will say if you go nice and early before work you can avoid the rush and not have to wait in line! I think it's a little more popular in NY than LA but definitely worth trying (even if you can't eat the middle) at least once, especially if you can avoid the busy times! read more

Always a hit! This was my first time at this location (I typically frequent the Carroll Gardens one). We arrived at around 9:30/9:45 and there was already a short line of about 15 people ahead of us. We waited for probably 30 minutes, at which point there was a very long line behind us, before getting seated. We were a party of 5, and we made sure to decide what we wanted to order while we were waiting outside. You have to order at the counter before sitting down, and we each ordered the OG pancakes (with one dairy free). We sat down and got our food within 10 minutes. As per usual, everything was delicious!! The pancakes are perfectly made, and the cinnamon butter is such a nice touch. This is always a must when having a city day! Make sure to get there nice and early if you want to beat the crowds, though! read more
Came here strictly for the oatmeal griddle cake and was pleasantly surprised that it met expectations. They come out piping hot with melting butter and crispy edges. The portions are pretty big so I just got one serving of the original for myself but I would definitely want to return with friends to try more flavors. It's counter service so the table turnover was pretty quick but then again, I came on a random weekday. Wouldn't wait in line again for this place but it's definitely delicious and worth the try! read more
4.2 / 5.0 This popular restaurant serves delicious pancakes! Reservations are not accepted, only walk-ins.You order first and then sit at an available table. I went at 10am on a weekday and it was already full of customers. But after waiting for about 5 minutes, a seat opened up! I ordered the classic breakfast. I also added two Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Griddle Cakes. I thought that having savory as well as sweet would keep me from getting bored of eating them! I recommend eating them this way! I love that they bring out freshly baked pancakes so quickly. They're thin but filling, and I was full to the brim! The atmosphere is perfect for a morning meal. read more

I absolutely love Salt's Cure. I eat either here or at the Brooklyn location at least once a month! The oatmeal griddle cakes are delicious! Keep in mind that there is no syrup served here, but don't worry, with the cinnamon sugar butter it's not necessary at all! The soft scrambled eggs are always cooked to perfection, and the sausage is good as well! I recommend the 2x2x2 if you're looking for a more balanced breakfast! There can be a long line on weekends, but the service is always quick once you're seated. The interior is very nice! I highly recommend stopping by! read more

SERVICE - located in west village - expect a long wait of over an hour especially on weekends - seating for smaller groups of 2-4 people - tables are close together which does give a cozy atmosphere - order at counter and then find a table - food served relatively quickly - restrooms available for diners MENU - brunch menu with a spotlight on oat griddle cakes - vegan/vegetarian option available for an extra charge - gluten free options available for an extra charge - well priced ($12 per entree) FOOD - vegan and gluten free banana nut griddle cakes (7/10): three oat griddle cakes filled with bananas and topped with candied walnuts and dollops of plant based butter. Out of the five griddle cake flavors, this was the only one that could be made vegan and gluten free for an extra charge. Although the plate looks small, the three cakes are quite filling. I liked how the bananas are mixed into the batter as they get caramelized during cooking and become sweet and jammy. I would have preferred the walnuts to be raw as I thought the candied ones were too sweet when paired with the powdered sugar on the pancake and the bananas. The color of the butter looked sketchy but once it melted it added moisture and richness to the dish. If you do not have a big sweet tooth, this can be hard to finish so I would recommend getting pancakes and a savory side and splitting with someone. WOULD I GO BACK? Not sure. There was only one vegan menu option and the wait time was really long. read more
Breakfast by Salts cure is the best breakfast spot in the city! They have a variety of breakfast items with the most notable being their oat based pancakes. I highly recommend the OG or the banana nut. They're light, crispy, and served with a delicious butter. For side dishes I'm a big fan of the arugula salad and the home fries. The arugula has a faint hint of lemon and pairs nicely to help balance out the heaviness of the other main dishes. The home fries are super crispy and I love the small onion bits that it comes with. The staff here are all really nice and the inside feels like an old school diner. In terms of the wait, usually on Saturday's it's about a 1 hour wait after 10am but it can be much shorter the earlier you come. Definitely stop by if you have a chance! read more

The star of the show really are the griddle cakes! I was able to try all the flavors which was helpful for my first time here. We came in when they opened at 8am on Sunday morning to avoid waiting in line. We ordered and grabbed a table right away. I had one blueberry, chocolate chip and banana griddle cake. My friend had the 2x2x2 with og griddle cakes, eggs and sausage. After trying all the griddle cakes I really did love them all, but og and banana were my favorites. The cinnamon butter on the og is amazing! We also shared the home fries which I thought were ok. Overall this was a great breakfast spot and I definitely want to be back. It's totally worth coming early to avoid lines. read more
This is probably the best pancakes I've ever had. Honestly very different from every pancake I've ever had. The taste is very oatmealy and honestly it's kinda mushy but specifically with the cinnamon butter it's really good. I kinda love how oatey and mushy it is. Super soft and moist and did not taste dry at all because they were so thin. Pork sausage is also good and scrambled eggs were fluffy. But the highlight is by farrrrrr the pancakes. Would definitely come back and eat the exact same thing. Came on a weekday at like 11 so no wait but still the restaurant was basically full. Beware of long lines as the restaurant isn't super big. Service is good and decently fast. read more

When it comes to breakfast, I'm usually a protein and fruit kind of girl. I've never really cared for or craved pancakes or waffles, but after eating here, I know I'm gonna start craving their griddle cakes. The menu is pretty limited, but then you know it's because their food slaps and they know it! They don't need anything else to appeal to the masses. And they do appeal to the masses! Going on a Saturday morning, there was a bit of a line, but it didn't take too long to get through quickly. There are other bakeries and coffee shops around if you wanna grab something before getting into line while you wait. As for the food, the griddle cakes are thin and crispy on the edges but soft in the middle. It's so flavorful, and the butter is addicting! The OG in itself is solid. Some places you need to order the specialized flavors in order to actually get something good. But for here, the original can stand on its own! That being said, I'm sure the other flavors are probably amazing too. One of my friends for the banana walnut and it was sooo good. The eggs are also so amazing. The yolk is so orange and beautiful! I prefer over easy or sunny side up, but the scrambled eggs were also so good here too! I got the pork sausages and thought they were a little too salty for me, but not sure if the other sausages would have been any better. read more
i truly don't understand the hype behind this place. we waited an hour in the cold (which was our choice), expecting to be blown away by the food after hearing so many good things. the eggs were too soft for my liking, and the pancakes were below average. crispy potatoes were good but definitely won't come back. you place your order at the front and then get seated and they bring you your food. overall, 2-3 stars. read more

First time having oatmeal pancakes, and they were delish! We came around 1pm on a Friday and didn't have to wait at all. I tried the original and the banana nut both were yummy. They don't serve syrup which was fine with me! However, I wasn't really a fan of their sausage patties - dry and a tad bit too salty. It's definitely a cute brunch spot. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Price was very affordable as well! read more

My friend wanted to come here so we waited 35 minutes in line outside before we got to the front. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. There are cups and bottles of water for customers. Food from the kitchen is brought to your table. There's a single stall bathroom in the back. We shared: - chocolate chip pancakes : 6.5/10. I thought I would like these more because who doesn't love chocolate?? But I wasn't the biggest fan. I felt like there could have been more butter too. - original pancakes: these were 9/10. I loved the butter it came with and the entire combo worked. I would maybe come back if I was in the area and there was a short line! read more

We go to Salt's Cure all the time in Los Angeles and I think the pancakes are 10x better. This was my first time at the NY location. After waiting 30-40 mins in line I was so bummed about the quality of the pancakes. They were soggy and unenjoyable. The middle is completely raw. Again, the LA location is so much better so I'll be going there instead! read more
Finally made it out to try!! I walked straight in Wednesday morning, no wait. Ordered at the counter and chose any table inside to sit. They give you a number and bring you your food once it's ready. I got a combo with banana griddle cakes, chicken sausages and soft scramble. It's the perfect hearty breakfast. I loved everything except one end of the griddle cake tasted charred. They looked black too but looking around to tables next to me, they were also the same color. I guess that's a griddle cake for you. It was my first time trying them. They were just the right amount of sweet too. I'm very curious about the blueberry ones. Solid place. Will I ever wait in line for it? Hell no. But if I'm passing by and it looks quiet then I'd definitely pop in. read more

I live in DC and travel to NYC often, and there has never been a single trip where I didn't make a pit stop at Salt's Cure. At this point it's a non-negotiable tradition. Yes, there's usually a line. Yes, I've stood in the rain, in freezing cold, and in the middle of a sticky summer morning waiting to get inside. And I'd do it again without hesitation. The reason? The blueberry pancakes. I order the exact same thing every single time. No experimenting, no switching it up, just the blueberry pancakes. They're unlike any pancakes I've had anywhere else: hearty, oat-based, perfectly crisp on the edges, fluffy in the middle, and packed with warm blueberries. They somehow feel both rustic and indulgent at the same time. The space is cozy, the service is always friendly and efficient, and the food is consistently incredible. In a city full of amazing brunch spots, Salt's Cure still manages to be the one place I refuse to skip. If you see a line outside, just get in it. It's worth the wait. read more
No syrup! My friend and I decided to check out Breakfast by Salt's Cure around 12:30pm on a Wednesday. The concept of an oatmeal griddle cake was new to me, so I don't have a point of reference to compare. You order and pay at the cashier, then find a table to sit at. There were no check-ins or water refills, so it's not necessary to leave a 20% tip. I asked the cashier for recommendations, and he said he would recommend the OG because it's the original, or the blueberry, his personal favorite. Since I had never tried a griddle cake before, I thought I should stick to the OG ($10). My friend got the banana nut ($14). I thought the prices were very reasonable for the griddle cakes. However, I would HIGHLY recommend getting something with flavor in it. The OG is served with cinnamon molasses butter, but the portion of butter was tiny, and it was overall very flavorless. This is worsened by the fact there is no syrup. I tried my friend's banana nut, and it was worlds better than the OG. My friend does caution that it is a lot of sweetness, but that's not something that bothers me. I would come back to Breakfast by Salt's Cure to try the flavored griddle cakes on an empty stomach and update my review accordingly. read more
