If you're closed for renovation, that information should be clearly updated on Yelp. You also should NOT allow people to join the waitlist while you're not operating. We're visiting New York for just 4 days and went out of our way to come here for breakfast, only to find out you're still under renovation. This was extremely disappointing and a frustrating experience.

First off, what a cute name for a pancake place! It is home of the original soufflé pancakes. It is a Japanese style of pancakes. This place is cute when you go upstairs that is where all the tables are. If there is a line you wait downstairs. The waitress I had was nice and answered my questions I had. I had the pancakes with fruit and whip cream. There is syrup on the table already, but if you want butter you will have to ask for it. I ate all of it so it was pretty darn good. And I had a side of scrambled eggs which too were very good. If you are in the area I highly suggest stopping in and trying some soufflé pancakes.

Ambiance - good, they have 2 floors. 1st floor was a small space for waiting after you checked in from kiosk - yes reserve ahead!!! once our table was ready, we went to 2nd floor. the space was pretty awesome! lots of windows and bright. We were seated next to a corner windows and we get to enjoy the street view. Pretty and relaxing even when the dining area was full of ppl. Service - they were nice and polite. they get you what you needed. Food - was fantastic. everything was super yummy and the pancakes was fluffy. yum yum yum. Don't leave without trying to truffle mayo, especially with fries. it is a perfect match!

For breakfast on a Saturday morning, we set our sights on a well-known place somewhat nearby but of course - there was a long line around the block. In a scramble we walked elsewhere which had a line. While waiting I found this place on a random search and looked good so we hopped an uber and came here. What makes this place great is the ability to join the waitlist on Yelp- which I did. We pulled up and walked in right as our name was being called. Sat upstairs - bright colors, large windows, and a good crowd. We ordered coffee/matcha and a couple orders of their soufflé pancakes, as well as splitting hash browns and sausage for the table. My soufflé pancakes were very good, topped with maple cream and had syrup to add. I will say that the pancakes came out very slow, but that is indicated on the menu. The hash browns were good - spicy Mayo, and the sausage was standard. I really liked this place - and would highly recommend it.

Flipper's/Soufflé Pancakes: These Japanese pancakes were light and fluffy. Because of the texture, it took approximately 20 minutes to prepare, but it was definitely worth the wait As a bonus, there is a viewing area to watch the chef cook them first hand.

If you're a pancake lover, and especially if you adore banana and chocolate, you NEED to try the banana chocolate souffle pancakes here. Seriously, I'm still dreaming about them. The texture? A light, airy, slightly sweet cloud that just melts in your mouth. Each bite was like a delicate, warm hug. And then, the perfectly ripe banana slices and the decadent chocolate sauce drizzled on top? The service was also fantastic. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to answer all our questions. If you're looking for a special breakfast treat, or just want to experience pancake perfection, this is your spot. Just be prepared to be amazed by the light, airy, and utterly delicious banana chocolate souffle pancakes. You won't regret it!

Flipper's has been on my list of places to eat at NYC, especially that they specialize in brunch!! They don't take reservations however they do have a waitlist option. We arrived at nearly 9am on a Saturday and were seated instantly. There was an abundance of seats and we were provided the corner seat. Didn't even have to ask for the window! Amazing service already upon crossing through the doors. The whole dining area had an open concept. They have tables that can cater to various group sizes. They have a 14 seater dining table in the middle of the room that I'd love to be on one day! Service was very efficient that we were able to have our fill and be out in an hour. We ordered soufflé pancakes and eggs Benedict with lemonade and tea. The eggs Benedict were over pancakes, tomato and greens and can come with either ham, bacon or smoked salmon. The eggs were absolutely divine!! The soufflé pancakes were fluffy and delicious with fruit and sauce. The ice cream was a nice touch. I would have that for dessert rather than breakfast since I enjoy the savory foods more than sweets. Thanks for having us!

After waiting perpetually for forty-five (45) minutes for a table as party of one, disappointedly it was certainly not "well worth the wait" as my experience was blatantly malevolent. This business uses Yelp platform for waiting list via text message notification. The male waiter Sebasitian G. ASSUMED I was part of my seat neighbor male party of one when clearly my utensils were still wrapped and untouched. Why men who see a single lady dining alone at a restaurant the customer service is malevolent? I feel worse when leaving than upon entering to be debased. Judgment provokes strife roiled. I was clearly invisible to this waiter. I waited, waited and perpetually waited to be greeted and serviced by a waiter. I sat waited, waited, waited and perpetually waited exactly as "Waiting for Godot," a play by Irish writer and playwright Samuel Beckett, but there was no intervention. Then, I had to flag his attention to be provided menus and water. I already had my order in mind as I did not want to stay in his aggravating presence much longer since he was visibly reluctant to serve me with utter disdain. Extreme utter acquiesce. He serviced this party of one male, to my right as I watched and observed who also spent the time, effort and passion servicing a party of two (a couple) to my left. "I thought you were part of that man's party." Oh! By the power of observation this restaurant was not entirely busy on a Saturday afternoon lunch as it was not full capacity where every seat is occupied as Flipper's clearly does not have the staff nor the resources to service a full house. Sebasitian G. was utterly intentional oblivious to my presence as I, obviously do not rank high for importance in priority. I was lured to Flipper's for Yelp reviews praising their signature "soufflé" styled pancakes, but my blatant BAD experience left a bad taste to become dispirited and despondent to eat anything. Sebasitian G. is bereft and devoid of empathy for the smallest measurement of an apology. There was another party who sat far and remote with a 2 year old male child wailing boisterously loud continuously for the entire duration of their meal in a stroller that echoed the restaurant. I saw this same party during my initial perpetual wait for a table and this same 2 year old male child was also wailing boisterously loud. Oh! The male waiter Sebasitian G. continued his indifference with me when I inquired directions for facility direction: "you should go downstairs as there is a line, only one restroom" fending curtness. Oh! To retaliate I choose NOT to issue any gratuity of the suggested intervals 18%, 20% and 22% written on the bottom of the claim check/bill, oh hell no! I paid $25.00 in cash for my $22.86 bill. I ejected a rude scowl look for reaction to his stolid look. Salmon cream cheese sandwich, $21.00 My salmon sandwich was a messy consumption. The sourdough bread was hard for staleness as the edge was hard. I always have a predilection for the classic French baguette bread as a better replacement for substance. I enjoyed the red onions. The salmon was very fresh. My sandwich was accompanied with tomato and lettuce which was standard. The salad was also average accompanied with sufficient ranch dressing. Bye, Felicia!

    matcha souflee pancakes

Came here in the morning on a weekday and there was no wait (weekends here get crazy). We had the matcha souflee pancakes and in my opinion they were alright. They had a heavy taste of egg in the batter and I didn't taste the matcha much at all. Was kinda disappointed since it did cost $19.... It's two stories but the seating is only on the second floor.

Flippers is modern, bright and cute. Those were my first impressions of Flippers when I got upstairs. Their brand is consistent and it shines through from its yellow-themed decorations to the bright yellow cups. It's fun, clean, and it totally reminds me of Miss Little Sunshine. It makes you feel happy the moment you go upstairs. The menu is simple and but not too versatile since it's all about pancakes and waffles. It occurred to me glancing over their menu that their most popular pancake is their Soufflé pancakes, which looks very fluffy. (PS: I personally think that if you add a lot of baking powder, you can make this at home!) On their menu, they also gave you instructions on how to eat it - wait 10 minutes and use a fork to split it. I will end with this since I didn't try their selections of pancakes, I try their waffles eggs, and fries. All taste pretty good and I would recommend coming here for a good brunch. I would caution that you would need to wait at least 30 minutes to get a table on a busy day. When we first arrived a little before noon on Saturday, we were told that our wait time would be 1.5 hours. It is not very accurate. As a family member of ours were there 10 minutes before us and put her name in, we were seated in half an hour.

This bi-level cafe located in the SOHO Lower Manhattan area of NYC is famous for Japanese Soufflé Pancakes and that's just what I ordered. I had the Flipper's Soufflé Pancakes with fresh fruit and maple syrup $19. It was so delicious and a real treat. The ambiance has a nice decor and is modern and clean. The service was very friendly and efficient.

I came here specifically for their Japanese soufflé pancake and I loved it! Coming here later in the afternoon on Saturday meant that there was no line so I was seated right away. I got the strawberry and would love to try their matcha next time!

Order of bacon with Flipper's soufflé pancakes in background
    CeCee S.

The staff was a bit short and robotic with their responses. We arrived just after the brunch rush and were seated upstairs. We ordered and our server let us know the food comes out one dish at a time. I asked could they hold until all is ready but he sd no this is just how it is. We ordered the soufflé pancakes with a side of chicken and traditional pancakes with blueberries and a side of bacon. Didn't like the wait time in between plates. You could finish ur pancakes before getting your protein. Everything was just ok and warm or cool but nothing was hot. This place just didn't live up to the hype for us.

Why are the fluffy pancakes not available for pickup or delivery orders?

I have ordered a soufflé pancake to go for a friend who couldn't make it there that time but I did it while eating there.

    It is, yes.

    Yes

    Any Vegan options?

Not really--all the main items have either eggs or meat. The soufflé pancakes are fluffy bc of eggs. Regular pancakes also have eggs. A few of the sides might be vegan but I wouldn't recommend this spot for vegans.

    Yes, open on Thanksgiving

My favorite is the strawberry. It's not too sweet. The original plain one is not sweet you decide how sweet you want it by adding syrup.

Lady Blue has saved me twice now, when needing to grab dinner before a Broadway show. Yesterday (Sat) we got last minute tickets to an 8pm show and had to quickly find a place for dinner. Many of the spots in the Theater District were already booked from 5:30-7:30. Some were just way overpriced. I had been to Lady Blue before and liked it, and they had 6pm availability. When we arrived, it was lively but not unbearably crowded. The place is small with a few booths, but surprisingly the hostess brought the two of us to a full booth. It felt nice and luxurious! And we did not have to wait or fight for the table at all. Our waitress was very attentive, checking on us multiple times. As others have mentioned, this place is much more than a cocktail bar - they serve a wide variety of American food (flatbreads, burgers/sandwiches, entrees) - however the cocktails are fun and interesting too. My friend got the Magic Mermaid and I got the Chai Fashioned cocktail. Hers was so fun - blue in a fishbowl looking glass with a tail fin sticking out. Mine was a unique take on the typical Old Fashioned filled with spices. Next we got bacon-wrapped dates to start - absolutely delicious. Perfect mix of sweet and savory flavors of bacon, blue cheese, and date. For mains, we both got the Lady B Burger, which was a step up from the regular burger - we were able to order as we liked it (I got the bacon on the side). It also comes with a salad but you can pay extra for fries or tots. I got truffle fries, which hit the spot. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed - the music was kind of a remix of 70s hits and newer stuff. We were able to eat at comfortable pace, pay, and leave with plenty of time before our show. I will definitely be back!
