Millet Mochi Donut, red Date Cake, and peanut butter Chocolate Bolo Bao
    Matthew W.

Taiwanese fusion bakery/restaurant. Much longer line and more crowded than at the Brooklyn location, although there's lots of outdoor seating. While I won't repeat my review, I'll generally say that the scallion pancakes, mochi donut, and snow peas are the things to get here. Unlike the Brooklyn location, they had all the bakery items available, so we were able to try the red date cake and peanut butter double baked bao this time. Both lived up to the hype and were my favorites, so I'd recommend both (as well as the previous menu selection above). Not really a complaint, but I do find it a little odd that at neither location did I see a single Asian employee either serving or cooking, given they're supposedly Taiwanese.

Ordered quite a feast for brunch delivery. FAVs- Mortadella Scallion Pancake - we ordered 4 different scallion pancake and this one stand out the most, tasty and balanced. San Bei Ji Chop'd Cheese Scallion Pancake - the only different approach one that's kinda interesting. Fries was meh. Savoy Soy Milk - love! SORTA LIKE- Fan Tuan - pretty good but Ho Foods' flavor is more on point. Xia (Shrimp) Bun - pretty good. Jiucai Scallion Pancake - indifferent. Pinut Cookie - YUM DISLIKE - Pastrami Beef Tongue Scallion Pancake - This was the worst dish, the pastrami beef tongue was dry and just not good.

Was so glad that this location opened in Manhattan. The cleanly decorated quick service spot has lots to offer. Since the last time I had tried a pop up with mostly pastries, I opted to try the BEC scallion pancake and a matcha (almond milk). The matcha was very smooth. The BEC SP is a very large portion. I prefer the pastries and fan tuan (several other diners had those too) over the scallion pancake. The table next to me had the chicken bian dang which looked delicious.

Tried Win Son Bakery and it didn't quite live up to the hype. The BEC scallion pancake was average and overpriced and the pork fan tuan was just okay (uses pork floss, not real pork). The rou bao felt like a smashed XLB. The millet mochi donut was the highlight -perfectly chewy. Overall, I'd still pick Chinatown or even a deli over this. Not sure I'd go back.

The food is just as good as the original location in Williamsburg. I've been to both locations now many times and I prefer how much more laid back and spacious the East Village spot is. Maybe I've gotten lucky but during mid-morning on most days there's plenty of seating and food comes out super fast. I'm always getting the pork floss fan tuan with egg and cruller. It is the perfect breakfast, so delicious, filling and affordable. The scallion pancake sandwiches are obviously incredible but the fan tuan is the real star imo. I'm always so excited to see the pastry case here, they change things up all the time. It's always worth getting one of the sweets, but I will always recommend the millet mochi donut. When it comes out warm, the texture is addictive and it's a perfect balance of sweet and salty.

Win Son Bakery is such an absolute gem - I already want to go back and try everything else on the menu. I ordered the iced black sesame latte and it was incredible - smooth, perfectly balanced, lightly sweet, and so unique. It's one of those drinks you keep thinking about after you leave. I also got the scallion pancake with egg and cheese and it completely lived up to the hype. Perfect texture - crispy and golden on the outside, soft and slightly chewy inside - and the sauce it comes with is perfect with it. Everything was so thoughtfully made. The space is also beautiful, filled with plants that make it feel warm, cozy, and inviting. I really loved that they have outdoor seating too - it's such a nice option. Service was excellent. The gentleman at the counter was super friendly and gave really great recommendations for both food and drinks, which made the experience even better. No lines on a Friday morning at 10am which was a bonus. Overall, everything from the food to the atmosphere to the service was amazing. Highly recommend!

Food is delicious . Good mixes of ingredients. Service - ok. Self service cafe-like. Order paid at register and they'll bring to the table. Ambiance - simple modern clean. I love their friend chicken with Cajun fries- delicious Their scoop ice cream is a "packed 10oz cup" size -- good for sharing. I have yet to try the pancakes - Asian twist. Will try next time.

My friend and I came here during dinner hours to try their BEC Scallian Pancake. Inside was super moody with dim lights and a candle on every table. It is also spacious with free seating and decorative plants. We got in line to order at the front, and got a Jasmine tea and BEC Scallion Pancake. The jasmine tea tasted weird. It did not taste like typically floral tea, but we couldn't drink it after a sip. The BEC Scallion pancake is exactly what you order. It's bacon, egg, and cheese on a scallion pancake. The bacon was a bit too crispy for me, but it was not a bad bite. I am glad I got to try!

Soo yummy. My favorites were the pork fan tuan, mochi donut, and xian bing (which had a delicious broth inside). But honestly everything was amazing--the scallion egg and cheese pancake and the bolo bao. Pretty long lines at 11 on a Saturday, and then there's an additional line to get a table. Line seemed to get longer by the time we left too.

This bakery was a warm refuge on a cold day. We waited about 20 minutes in a long line, but once you get to the register, they take care of you from start to finish, from seating you to bringing you your food, which is much appreciated when you're in quite crimped quarters, and you don't want to get up and down often. The bakery has some delightful breakfast fusion foods, such as a traditional scallion pancake use as a wrap for a bacon, egg and cheese! My favorite was the fan Tuan, which packed a punch of both flavor and texture. It was a little crunchy on the inside that thing, and I expected, but the crunch really added to the entire tasting experience. I felt that the stallion can take bacon egg cheese had a lot of texture and was gorgeous, but not as flavorful. They also have solid coffee, drinks! I will absolutely be coming back because everything was unique and delicious, and I would love to try more of the menu

I've had BEC before and I've had scallion pancakes, trust, but I was not expecting how greasy the scallion pancake BEC would be. The number of napkins we needed to use to hold the pancake before it got soaked in oil was wild (see pic). The final product did not taste better than the core pieces imo It's definitely a chill place to hang with friends in the neighborhood though so I'd recommend trying if you're in the area and interested in fusion food

((4.25 stars)) Win Son Bakery is a Taiwanese-American cafe in the East Village. it serves a variety of small & large savory dishes, sweet baked & dessert-y items, a coffee / tea menu, and adult beverages (beer & wine) from morning to evening. the location is a good-sized space for Manhattan with additional sidewalk seats during warmer weather. the interior is bright and clean with modern vibes. the coffee program is pretty solid and i've enjoyed iced americanos and drip coffees here. recently, had the BEC Scallion Pancake. it's made up of bacon + eggs + havarti cheese wrapped up in a soft scallion pankcake. the sandwich is unsurprisingly rich because of the bacon, eggs, melty havarti cheese, and scallion pancake. the bacon is fairly firm and crispy with some chew; the eggs are kind of compressed but are still soft; the havarti is a creamy with a little bit of tanginess and sweetness; and the scallion pancakes are pretty soft without the typical expected crispy exterior. the sandwich is rich, but errs on the oily side because of the scallion pancakes and the other ingredients. the flavors are savory and comforting but they all kinda get lost in each other because they are all competing with one another and get somewhat muted. the sandwich does come with a "ginger deluxe dipping sauce" which is essentially an aioli sauce. the sauce is a nice touch, but i do wish the sandwich got a some refining so the flavors come together into a more memorable bite that reflects more Taiwanese flavors than just a take on a classic bacon-egg-and-cheese. while the BEC scallion pancake isn't a huge sandwich--it is very shareable and i recommend splitting it with someone, so you can order some things off the menu that are a bit more Taiwanese in flavor and conception like the fa tuan or the turnip cake OR any of the excellent pastries like the millet mochi doughnut, vanilla cream bun, or the chocolate bao bolo. the service is friendly and upbeat. there are definitely lines on the weekend, so heading to Win Son Bakery is a better bet during the week and will be less crowded. Win Son Bakery is a nice option to have in the East Village.

When I saw a scallion pancake bacon egg and cheese I knew I had to have it. The staff were sweet especially after there was a little mix up where I received a shrimp scallion pancake instead of bacon. If you love cheese, this has a great cheese pull. It was pretty big, so I recommend sharing unless you have a big appetite. Super cute interior, nice lighting, and many little cafe tables.

For my entree, I ordered the vodka rigatoni and a side of buttered broccoli. The vodka rigatoni was really good - liked the flavor and a decent size of pasta. The broccoli was really good for some reason to me. Also tried the truffle mac and cheese which was incredibly rich and tasted great. As a dessert, we had the chocolate pie which was dense, rich, and topped with a huge dollop of whipped topping. I really liked the atmosphere of the place, loud roaring 20s style with jazz playing. Plus I kept finding myself checking out the mural on the wall. Try it for yourself - but worth the fight to get a table.
