I tried to cut down a tall maple tree on the border of a property myself. It was near houses and a power line ran straight through it, so I couldn't just fell it down. At first, it looked like I could do it. The bottom branches went down easily to a pole saw. Then I had to start climbing ladders, and then onto roofs to reach more branches. Holding a long pole saw overhead while maintaining balance on a roof is dangerous and tiring. On the third day it was time to cut the super high branches. The only way we could do it was with a Arborist sling slot, and alot of rope rigging and a rope saw. It was a headache and the equipment seemed expensive. Thankfully Willy's Tree service drove by and saw us struggling and took pity on us. We negotiated a fair price based on the work we had already done, and what we were quoted from other arborists (which was so high that it lead us to try it on our own originally). He said he would be back in two hours, but actually ended up late. I'm not going to dock any points for this because I knew we were a side job after his main job, and it was spontaneously scheduled. After his other job was over, he came over with his crew, a bucket truck, and a wood chipper that eats 12 inch logs like potato chips. And the entire job was done in the time that it would have taken me to cut 1 branch. At the end of the day, as his crew drove away, I was thankful that they came in and helped at a very fair price. So lesson learned. Save yourself the headache of expensive equipment, dangerous risk to life and limb, and call in a professional like Willy's Tree Service. read more

Willy's Tree Service - Tree Services Near Me

I've used Willy several times. Can't recommend him enough. He and his team are extremely professional.

Willy's Tree service did an amazing job with my residence. My backyard was over grown with weeds & Willy's team came in earlier to tackle the job. They cut down all of my nasty weeds & cut down 3 trees that I wanted to get rid of. For the front of my house they trimmed my huge oak tree and got rid of an olive tree that would always make a mess. Why hire Willy's Tree Service? They have a big crew that works as a team so that means they can get the job done fast! They also have a lot of trucks, tree bucket & industrial wood chipper to accomplish the task as hand. Very friendly & very competitive pricing. Highly recommend! read more

Excellent service. He knows a lot and his crew is efficient and clean. His prices are fair and he is very honest in his evaluation and follow through. They did a great job. read more

I used Willy recently and about 7 years ago. Importantly, he has excellent equipment: cherry picker truck (lift up into the tree), amazing chipper and so on. He also has an excellent crew. The small project was to take a pittosporum down about 5 feet and enhance the canopy shape. They did a very nice job on this. Meanwhile, the bigger project was being done by the rest of the crew. We have a very large Monterey Cypress. It needed to be cleared or dead branches, a good deal of weight, and a large lateral "window" created to allow a clear view from a back deck. With guys on ropes and a guy on the cherry picker truck (bucket truck), they go the job done. All of this was completed in an afternoon and within about a week of my contacting them. Additionally, I enjoyed interacting with the crew and with Willy. Certainly worth getting an estimate! read more

We used Willy's Tree Service to remove a massive eucalyptus tree that probably rose 40 feet. Willy's highly efficient crew took down 2/3 of the tree with thick branches in a day which for us onlookers looked scary and risk laden. Nevertheless, the crew completed that and removal of the remaining trunk and root the following date with incredible efficiency and safety precautions to protect trees from falling. You're in good hands with Willy the owner, who is practical and understanding of the emotions around trees and his crew polite and exceedingly hard working. It was well worth the amount we paid which was competitive. It helps them out immensely when you can clear out space for them to work and secure parking for their chipper and truck. read more

Willy gave incredibly prompt and professional service. When I received notice from my insurance company that branches needed to be cleared in order to renew, my neighbors recommended WIlly's Tree Service. When Willy showed up to give a free estimate he said his crew could squeeze me in the very next day. They performed the work in a quick and thorough manner, following my guidance about the amount of pruning I preferred, cleaning up after etc. When my neighbor and I asked his crew to add a significant amount of work in clearing old wood, he agreed and gave a reasonable cost for the additional work. I highly recommend! read more

Willy is a life saver. I'd been worried about some trees in our backyard for a while and with the upcoming storm, I decided to call and have Willy come take a look. He came immediately on Monday - I think I called at 4:30 and he was outside by 4:50. He came to our backyard and pointed out several areas that should be tripped back to make it safe. When we asked when the soonest he could come, he said tomorrow. By the next day, an entire team of tree cutters arrived and they were in and out within a few hours. They cut back the trees, opened them up so wind would go through them, and still kept the privacy of our backyard. Sure enough by Wednesday, we got more rain and wind from the storm than expected and I'm so thankful Willy and his team made us a priority. I don't know if our trees would have made it through the winds. Thanks Willy and team! We will definitely use you guys again and refer you to our neighbors. read more

I asked Willy for a quote on checking out our trees since it's wind and rain season coming up. We didn't specify a time, so when he didn't get back to me in a day or two I thought he had forgotten. But before I got around to contacting him again (I'm terrible at this stuff), he got back to me with both text and a phone call to schedule a walk through. He gave a reasonable quote and explained all his recommendations, and didn't give me a hard time when I said I'd think about it and get back to him. Well we decided to go for it so he and his crew came and took care of it all quickly and everything looks good to me. He takes Zelle and check. Actually this was the third time we've used Willy's Tree Service. He's cut trees out of our yard including the stumps when we wanted to change a part of our yard. He also came by on a rainy day when large tree in a different part of our yard fell over, blocking things (same day that time!) -- which is why we decided this year we were gonna do preventative work. We have always appreciated him and his team's work. If there was a bit of a slower response on our non-urgent work that is totally ok since he made time for me on a rainy day when I really needed it. Also sometimes I am the one who's slow to respond! Thanks again! read more

This was an amazing experience. We reserved a time of 8AM. Willy and his crew were there right on time. We have a fairly large backyard. Including trees from 10 to 50ft. They did a fantastic job of following our wishes and by 11AM they were all finished including limb mulching and debris removal. The price was very reasonable and we would hire Willy and his crew again. read more

I called Willy to get an estimate to remove an old Magnolia tree that was just one foot from my new custom redwood fence. He came the next day and gave an estimate that I thought was fair. I agreed and he and his crew of 6 guys come the next morning and did a quick and VERY careful job of removing the tree. They did a thorough clean up job too. I can't say enough good things about Willy Tree Service. read more

Today Willy and his hard-working, pleasant, and conscientious crew took out four way-beyond-their-prime Cypress trees for us. These were 30-40 foot monsters that were impeding access to our driveway and garden. The 4 man-crew arrived bang on schedule, carefully prepped for the work, and methodically carried out the job for us. It was actually riveting to watch them work. After cutting down the trees and grinding the stumps, the crew spent all the time that was necessary to clear and rake the work area and cleaned up everything very well. We are extremely pleased with Willy and his team! Thank you so much! read more

Willy was so helpful removing a big chunk of our ash tree that had a large branch drop during the storm in March. The same section of the tree had also dropped a branch into the yard in January and it was clear that the whole section needed to be removed. Willy showed up within 24 hours to inspect it and had a crew there the following morning to complete the work, which took until about 2pm. I also approved them trimming some of my other trees while they were on site and the overall bill was a lot less than I feared it would be. The only reason I reduced the rating to 4 stars instead of 5 is that later in the day the crew had a careless trimmer up in the tree and another on the ground. The one in the tree cut and dropped a large branch onto my beautiful pineapple guava, breaking off a large section in the middle of the tree. Shortly after that a different trimmer cut off a significant amount of my blooming ceanothus tree, which didn't need pruning and shouldn't have been touched. All in all I'm glad I had the work done and they did a great job on my giant ash tree, but the training and supervision of the crew must be lacking or these errors wouldn't have left me with two of my smaller trees damaged. read more

Willy and his team came to our house to trim a large backyard Italian Pine Tree that had grown tall and wide. We received a timely callback after first contact, followed by a same day estimate. The job was completed the next day and we are very happy with the results. Make no mistake, these guys are pros. Thanks Willy! read more

Willy answered my call and came out the next day to give me an estimate of removing a large pine tree in my back yard. The tree is large and started to lean so, it may pose danger to people and property during the coming wet season. We came to an agreeable price and Willy and his team was able to come out the next day. They were professional and efficient. They got the job done in less time than promised. Willy even did some trimming of a couple of other trees for better health. They cleaned up everything before they left. I recommend Willys Tree Service. Don't know how yelp got Hawaii as my location. It should be Alameda CA. read more

Willy's Tree Service has always been my go-to tree company. My fire insurance company required that I cut back all vegetation around my house. It was a big job but Willy gave me a very reasonable quote and his team arrived the next morning and did a wonderful job. I also asked him to also cut down a very large tree that was dangerously leaning. He recommended that I not cut down the whole tree so that I keep the privacy, but cut only the large limb that was the cause of it leaning. Willy works fast, his prices are very reasonable and best of all, he gives me great advice. read more

Willy and his crew were on my street doing a larger job. I asked if they could tack on a small amount of additional work, and they were able to take care of all my tree stress immediately for a reasonable price. I recommend them for jobs large and small! Another neighbor saw them working and they did some trimming for them as well. I suggest teaming up with your neighbors to have one big visit and get everything taken care of. They have vehicles with a picker for reaching high places and disposal vehicles to haul everything away. Willys card includes a license number and arborist certificate number. I didn't cross check these, but they seem to be a professional and reliable business. read more

First time customer of Willys and I was very happy with the experience. I got an estimate in 1 day and they came the next day to cut down a small tree including the stump. The best part was the price. They mentioned they were the ones who cut down a big very tall tree across the street and I remembered I was very impressed watching that operation. These guys know what they're doing and great price too. read more

We used Willy 4 years ago and he did a fantastic job, so we called him back to do some more trimming and removal. Very responsive, he called the same day and set an appt the next day. Was on time and brought a crew of 4 with him. Within an hour they were done thinning our redwood tree and trimming several fruit trees and the removal of another. Paid attention to cleanup too. Fee was very fair and affordable!!! read more

Willy's Tree Service - Tree Services Near Me

I had such a great experience with Willy in the past that I've decided to request his service again for a different property recently. I called him and he came over the next day and provided me with a quote that was better than other tree services. We both agreed on a price and date for him and his team to get to work. All was great until the day came and he was a no show. I waited 3 hours and no call or text from him. I called him and he didn't pick up so I left a voicemail. No response from him since then. What a huge disappointment. Looks like I won't be using Willy's Tree Services anymore nor will I recommend it. read more

Really great tree service. Willy supervises everything meticulously. He has Arborist credentials. Punctual, courteous, terrific workers. Everyone seems to love their work. And the work is artful. One doesn't really need to instruct them as they know how to thin out and mold the trees to a beautiful image. But they always ask for your preferences or requests. They have all the equipment; Lifts, chipper trucks, harnesses and they completely clean up and haul everything away. He has a very good reputation here in North Berkeley but I think he services the whole Bay Area. Highly recommended. Dave Korman. Happy Customer read more

Willy's Tree Service thinned, trimmed and cut back excessively grown heavy branches on our 75-year-old large Magnolia tree in the parking strip. This tree had never been professionally maintained. (I used to cut some of the lower branches until I could no longer safely reach any.) Willy and his four-man crew expertly took on the task -initially I wanted to cut back away from the roof, gutter and low branches hanging over the driveway (I had to duck to get into the car) and to have some lower branches over the neighbor yard removed. Willy did an assessment of the tree condition, and I am very pleased with the completed work. The tree now looks great (see photo- I didn't take a before picture, but you couldn't see the sky through it!). Willy addressed with me the heavy branches on this old tree, and I feared the possibility something could come down in a heavy storm. I am glad to have the excessively heavy branches thinned and removed. My wife and I both think the tree has a far better appearance now. His price was reasonable and fair; with two men in the tree, two on the ground, with Willy observing, directing the workers, and keeping any traffic safe during the work, it was an efficient crew. Everyone hustled. I will look forward to Willy's Tree Service doing work for us in the future. read more

I highly recommend Willy's Tree Service. Willy came out to give us a free estimate to cut down 6 trees that were lined up against our fence. He was incredibly professional, knew exactly how to price the job. I had been quoted by another person at a much higher rate and less experience than Willy. Willy responded very quickly and arrived with his trucks and equipment ready to go. In a matter of 3 hours they took down 6 trees, arranged a pile of firewood and cleaning up my yard. It was very impressive. read more

Overgcharged and underperformed. NEVER! again. He apparently knows how to do it - but he was rude, dismissive when he showed up for work when he decided, not when I asked. Left without finishing the job. Maybe he's not so obnoxious to men - but a male friend had real problems with him too. read more

I called Willy for an estimate on Monday morning and he stopped by in the afternoon to look at my redwood tree. He was able to fit me into his schedule Tuesday. Willy came out with his crew and knocked out a big job in just over an hour. Yard looks great!

I have used Willy's Tree Service twice now and have been pleased both times. He is usually quite responsive coming over to give you an estimate and arrange for a time for the work to be done. His prices a reasonable however he is amenable to some negotiations which I appreciated. I was able to keep him at his previous job's prices. He arrives with a large enough crew to complete the job in a timely fashion, usually about 6-7 workers and 4 specialty trucks. He was amenable to my suggestions as to how much to cut and to the style and shapes I wanted, which is important. After all, I have to live with the job performed. I would recommend Willy to anyone and intend to use him again. We have even discovered that we both appreciate certain German high performance sports cars. read more

The fire department asked us to trim an oak tree that was touching our house in preparation for the upcoming fire season. We live on a steep slope, so fire preparedness is a must. It had been 30 years since we last trimmed some of the trees on our property, so they were quite tall. Willy is knowledgeable about which trees are fire prone (in our case acacia and pine). Willie is also a certified arborist and has a California Contractors License bond. He was able to recommend how to trim an oak tree that was growing into an outdoor stair banister so that it wouldn't put as much weight on the banister in the future. In addition, he noticed that a black oak that was poorly trimmed years earlier needed to be trimmed because it was overhanging an area in the street where it would eventually be dangerous to passing cars and pedestrians. His crew removed lots of dead branches on other oaks on the property and topped two oaks that had obstructed a view of the bay. On the day of the work, Willy arrived with a crew of 10 people and a forestry bucket truck to facilitate work on the steep part of our hill, along with 2 other trucks. Willy was there to oversee the work the entire day the crew was there and checked in with me frequently to show me the work and make sure that all was well. I highly recommend him. read more

Willy's helped me with cleaning up the trees at my mother's house after she passed away. We are in awe! Willy and his outstanding crew removed three huge trees and ground out the stumps in about half a day. Two of the trees were oaks that some clever squirrels had planted in a tight spot between houses, so that they were looming over both of our rooftops, a big hazard. The other was an old and dying locust about 60 feet tall. These men were clearly professionals, and it was amazing to watch them work together. So efficient, they went to work immediately and cleaned up both properties so all was immaculate when they left. Willy supervised the whole time and made sure we were happy. Willy was very responsive, and charged a really fair price. We will not hesitate to call him again. We were in good hands. Our neighbor said, simply, "Five stars!" read more
