I had ignored the problem for too long and knew the roots would eventually encroach on my driveway and cause damage (it was in pristine condition). I had seen them around the neighborhood working. Could I afford the cost? Yes the quote was very reasonable. How long before they could come to estimate and schedule the work? The job was estimated and completed within 48 hours. From my first call to the office through the end of the onsite work was coordinated and very professional: Tree removal, grinding the stump out - that took an extra amount of time due to its size - and then a thorough clean up. We called Mark at M&M Tree Service to remove a bunch of trees from our new property, 3 of which were considered high risk according to an arborist who said we should expect limb drop within 6 months (some of the limbs are the size of an average tree). Mark knew this was a priority for us and got a crew out to start work. The M&M tree crew were amazing. They took down the tallest of the trees on day one and even worked through the rain. They were done with all the work in 4 days and this included removing a fallen tree which I didn't think could be done so quickly. I'm still amazed at how hard these guys worked. They also left the job site everyday cleaned up like no one was ever there. Mark is very professional, knowledgeable and was the most affordable compared to the other services we reached out to. Mark the owner came to my parents home in SF and was right on time at 8am. I showed him the huge tree that needed to be cut down in the back yard. This tree was a t least 50 or 60 years old and was unstable. I got a fair estimate and his workers ( 6 or 7 ) came over early in the morning and the entire tree was down to a stump in about 3.5 hours. They were very professional, did a great job, cleaned the garbage up, and even air hosed neighbors cars which may have gotten some dust. Highly recommend this business. Thank you so much. read more

The three man crew were wonderful! I needed a large orange tree thinned and the canopy raised and two lemon trees raised. They were done in an hour and a half and my yard looks better than it did when they got here. They were great about saving all the fruit for me which I appreciated very much. read more

M & M has been trimming my trees yearly since at least 2019. I have no issues with their price or the quality of their work. Unfortunately their ability to communicate and schedule in a timely manner has fallen off in the last 2 years. I signed a contract in Dec 2022 for trimming to be done early in 2023. After not hearing from them to schedule the job I called them in February only to be informed that because of all the storms they were too busy doing emergency work to service a long time customer. Fast forward to October 2023 when they called and wanted a deposit on the 2022 contract (which I sent them). I called on Feb 4, 2024 and inquired as to when the job might be scheduled. The answering service said they have Mark call and schedule it. In the first half of March Mark left a message on my phone early one morning giving me about a 3 hour notice to do the work that afternoon. I didn't retrieve that message until it was too late to respond. On March 25th I called again to see when it was to be scheduled. I was informed they had tried to get hold of me, but now it was too late to trim my trees (???). Bottom line, if you want a company that will communicate with you and schedule jobs in a timely fashion I'd suggest looking elsewhere. read more

My landlord contracted M&M to clear a small stand of volunteer black acacia trees at the back of my patio -- thank goodness since they create so much pollen that it was impossible for me to sleep for months! The M&M crew showed up and kicked some tree ass! I have never seen such an efficient group of workers. The guys who climb the trees were so strong and capable - and there were small men lifting giant sections of tree and taking things out to the truck on the street. So strong! Poor customer service. Had an appointment for an estimate, they moved it last minute to the next day, then no-showed that day. We called a couple weeks later to make another appointment (one last try); again, day of, no show, no call. They clearly do not want our business, or are understaffed and overpromising. read more

From a few years ago, looking to remove a tree but its not going to be M&M. After removing several trees (Big pine and bunch of privets) and after doing the work they left one large privet right in front of my entrance. It was an oversight on their part for which I paid for in the estimate. When I contacted office the lady said she would come out an see it and "collect payment" a check. She took the check, full amount cause Im not a cheat and lied to my face. Said someone would contact me. The guy that did the estimate blamed me for not supervising their work. read more

This is a review for their customer service not actual tree cutting. After hearing good things about the service, I placed a call. They have a long crazy customer service dispatch system. basically you get put on hold then transferred then put on hold then transferred to somebody who can simply take a message. And if you miss their call back, you get to do the whole thing over again. I understand small businesses are juggling but the experience is slow and frustrating. I did all that anyway. And set an appointment finally. I missed the call confirming the appointment the day before but called back confirmed that I was expecting them. There were no additional calls the morning of. I rearranged my schedule and those of my children, two of us with the flu. Service never showed up! in their follow-up comment below, they suggest that they called twice to confirm before estimator came that morning. Not true. I was home all morning. I even left a note on my front door for them, which was untouched. In fact, later that day I got a phone call from the estimator apologizing because he had gotten caught up in another assignment and wanted to come later. I appreciate that, but it would have been nice to get a call beforehand. So even their follow-up is inaccurate & doesn't show much accountability. I have no interest in waiting on hold to tell them about how they inconvenienced me. Moving on. surprised and delighted by two other well-reviewed companies in the area who have friendly, fast dispatch system that set an appointment same day. read more

M+M removed my five story high black acacia today. I could not be happier about their service. Their work was very professional and the price was fair. Most importantly, they did no damage to the bushes under the tree even though they had little space within which to work due to a fence and adjacent building. They also expertly thinned out an adjacent tree, cleaned up very well after themselves and were most responsive to my request for cutting the wood to fire place length. Luis the foreman is an excellent communicator and whole crew worked very well together. They completed the work in just four hours! read more

Zero stars if I could. We had an M&M estimator out this morning to meet my wife for a look at a dead pine tree in our back yard for removal. He was brusque, insisted on looking at all the other trees in our back yard even though we have a regular arborist who's already checked them out, and informed us that they had pine bark beetles even though our other arborist just said they don't. When my wife said she was only interested in getting the dead tree removed, he got upset, yelled at her about his job including assessing all the other trees, and stormed out, leaving her almost in tears. Whether he was right or wrong about the beetles, his treatment of my wife was appalling. There's no reason to hire a company who employs someone like that. A giant thumbs down to M&M. Addendum a few days later: we had a pine bark beetle specialist from Cal Fire examine our trees, and he said that we do *not* have pine bark beetles, just signs of past turpentine beetles that have been gone for some years now. The trees M&M wanted to remove are healthy. Can I give negative stars? read more
