I hired M&M to remove a distressed tree from my backyard. This tree removal was high level of difficulty: 1) huge tree; 2) uneven terrain; and 3) inaccessible to vehicles (every piece was cut up and carried to the truck parked in the front of the house; and 4) tree was close to my house The crew was super careful working around my house, removed the tree and related debris in under 2 days. Just remarkable! Their quote was very competitive. I am glad I found these guys and will use them again! read more

We hired M&M to do a whole lot of work in our yard...removal and stump grounding of eight bradford pears that had developed fire blight, removal of a volunteer privet that had taken over, and challenging thinning of our beloved 200 year old coastal live oak tree, and removal of an overgrown hedge. The crew arrived this morning and worked really hard and amazingly got everything done in one very long day. The work looked great, the crew cleaned up the beautifully, and at the end of the day the crew leader walked the site with us to be sure nothing was missed. They totally exceeded my expectations, and did so at a very fair price. I will definitely use M&M again! read more

Wonderful service, comparatively affordable; thank you so much! Will definitely work with the m&m team again

I called M&M Tree Service because I knew they were experienced at what they do. I had a 20 year old pine tree that had grown too big for the space and did not look healthy. I had ignored the problem for too long and knew the roots would eventually encroach on my driveway and cause damage (it was in pristine condition). I had seen them around the neighborhood working. Could I afford the cost? Yes the quote was very reasonable. How long before they could come to estimate and schedule the work? The job was estimated and completed within 48 hours. From my first call to the office through the end of the onsite work was coordinated and very professional: Tree removal, grinding the stump out - that took an extra amount of time due to its size - and then a thorough clean up. Well done. Reliability and excellent communication is important. Thank you M&M. read more

I am glad I found M&M Tree Service to remove 2 trees with roots causing property damage. They provided prompt and professional services. I was highly impressed when I didn't have to ask but automatically received my estimate with the company's proof of insurance and license info. Mark if very knowledgeable and shares information so a lay person can understand. He is a nice person and doesn't engage in pushy sales tactics. Everyone who works for the business that I talked to were also very pleasant and professional. I highly recommend M&M Tree Service. read more

I definitely recommend M & M Tree Service. They were very professional and efficient. They did quite a bit of work for me and got me on their schedule for the day after they received my deposit. They showed up on time and the entire crew worked to finish the job quickly. I was amazed at how fast a huge avocado tree was able to be taken down. They also were able to do my hedges while they were here rather than have me schedule another appointment. The work they did was awesome and I was very impressed that they kept working even when it started to rain! I highly recommend them and will use them again in the future ! read more

Got a quote when they said they'd give me a quote. Got a contract when they said they would. Got a team earlier than I thought they could do it. Efficient, thorough, cleaned up nice. Could not have asked for more. read more

M and M Tree Service is fantastic. Both the owner and the office contact were friendly, clear communicators. Estimate and work happened incredibly quickly at a good price. I was not home during the work, but upon return to my house, I was stunned: they had removed a large fig tree, several smaller trees, and had left the place much cleaner than they found it. I wouldn't hesitate to work with them again! read more

I have used M & M Tree Service a number of times. They do exceptional work. The crew completely cleaned up all debris. I am so pleased with their professionalism and their expertise in pruning my trees and removing a couple of other trees as well. The staff, Mark and Anastasia, at M & M are always courteous and friendly, and I highly recommend them . For the amount of work they did this week, I believe their estimate was fair and worth it. read more

I looked for a tree service that knew how to properly prune my fruit trees, including 3 avocado trees. The crew came out and did an excellent job on all my trees. The crew was experienced, had a great attitude, and cleaned up nicely. Besides the great job, I felt the price was fair. I will use M&M again read more

M&M has been taking care of our trees for years. Just recently they trimmed a huge silver maple tree in our yard. They did a great job, as usual. No more worries about large branches crashing into our garage or house. Our yard was left spotless when they were done. A lot of hard work done for a reasonable price. I highly recommend M&M for all of your tree needs. Robert S. read more

We called Mark at M&M Tree Service to remove a bunch of trees from our new property, 3 of which were considered high risk according to an arborist who said we should expect limb drop within 6 months (some of the limbs are the size of an average tree). Mark knew this was a priority for us and got a crew out to start work. The M&M tree crew were amazing. They took down the tallest of the trees on day one and even worked through the rain. They were done with all the work in 4 days and this included removing a fallen tree which I didn't think could be done so quickly. I'm still amazed at how hard these guys worked. They also left the job site everyday cleaned up like no one was ever there. Mark is very professional, knowledgeable and was the most affordable compared to the other services we reached out to. Thank you Mark for making our backyard safe for the kids to play in. I appreciate you and your amazing crew. read more

Mark the owner came to my parents home in SF and was right on time at 8am. I showed him the huge tree that needed to be cut down in the back yard. This tree was a t least 50 or 60 years old and was unstable. I got a fair estimate and his workers ( 6 or 7 ) came over early in the morning and the entire tree was down to a stump in about 3.5 hours. They were very professional, did a great job, cleaned the garbage up, and even air hosed neighbors cars which may have gotten some dust. Highly recommend this business. Thank you so much. read more

Mark has been our go-to guy for removal of two very large trees and pruning of another very large tree. I respect his knowledge and helpfulness in evaluating a situation with a neighbor and overhanging branches. read more

M & M has been trimming my trees yearly since at least 2019. I have no issues with their price or the quality of their work. Unfortunately their ability to communicate and schedule in a timely manner has fallen off in the last 2 years. I signed a contract in Dec 2022 for trimming to be done early in 2023. After not hearing from them to schedule the job I called them in February only to be informed that because of all the storms they were too busy doing emergency work to service a long time customer. Fast forward to October 2023 when they called and wanted a deposit on the 2022 contract (which I sent them). I called on Feb 4, 2024 and inquired as to when the job might be scheduled. The answering service said they have Mark call and schedule it. In the first half of March Mark left a message on my phone early one morning giving me about a 3 hour notice to do the work that afternoon. I didn't retrieve that message until it was too late to respond. On March 25th I called again to see when it was to be scheduled. I was informed they had tried to get hold of me, but now it was too late to trim my trees (???). Bottom line, if you want a company that will communicate with you and schedule jobs in a timely fashion I'd suggest looking elsewhere. read more

Have tree issues? This is the service to use, without a doubt! They are responsive and experienced and offer clear explanations of what needs to happen. The professionalism and cheeriness of the people at M & M beginning with Mark and including Anastasia made the loss of my trees MUCH easier to bear. I encourage you to call them first. read more

The three man crew were wonderful! I needed a large orange tree thinned and the canopy raised and two lemon trees raised. They were done in an hour and a half and my yard looks better than it did when they got here. They were great about saving all the fruit for me which I appreciated very much. read more

My landlord contracted M&M to clear a small stand of volunteer black acacia trees at the back of my patio -- thank goodness since they create so much pollen that it was impossible for me to sleep for months! The M&M crew showed up and kicked some tree ass! I have never seen such an efficient group of workers. The guys who climb the trees were so strong and capable - and there were small men lifting giant sections of tree and taking things out to the truck on the street. So strong! They cleaned up and did a really fantastic job. read more

Poor customer service. Had an appointment for an estimate, they moved it last minute to the next day, then no-showed that day. We called a couple weeks later to make another appointment (one last try); again, day of, no show, no call. They clearly do not want our business, or are understaffed and overpromising. read more

Never returned call - that gives an idea as to how communication and or service will go...

Set an appointment. It was a no show and no call to reschedule or apologize. If they can't keep an appointment or have communication, I don't trust I would get a good and responsible person. Wouldn't suggest to anyone else. read more

A+. M&M are masters of their craft and great to work with. We had a huge cedar tree in our yard that had its roots cut and they came out on short notice to assess the situation and got the work done that same week once it was determined it was a fall risk. From the owner to the office to the workers everyone was great to interact with. While it was sad to see our tree go I'd highly recommend M&M for any tree related assessment or project. read more

From a few years ago, looking to remove a tree but its not going to be M&M. After removing several trees (Big pine and bunch of privets) and after doing the work they left one large privet right in front of my entrance. It was an oversight on their part for which I paid for in the estimate. When I contacted office the lady said she would come out an see it and "collect payment" a check. She took the check, full amount cause Im not a cheat and lied to my face. Said someone would contact me. The guy that did the estimate blamed me for not supervising their work. read more

I want to thank Mark, the owner for sending two real good tree trimmers to trim my White Oak tree in Alameda. They did a great job without me having to tell them what to do. This is a review for their customer service not actual tree cutting. After hearing good things about the service, I placed a call. They have a long crazy customer service dispatch system. basically you get put on hold then transferred then put on hold then transferred to somebody who can simply take a message. And if you miss their call back, you get to do the whole thing over again. I understand small businesses are juggling but the experience is slow and frustrating. I did all that anyway. And set an appointment finally. I missed the call confirming the appointment the day before but called back confirmed that I was expecting them. There were no additional calls the morning of. I rearranged my schedule and those of my children, two of us with the flu. Service never showed up! in their follow-up comment below, they suggest that they called twice to confirm before estimator came that morning. Not true. I was home all morning. I even left a note on my front door for them, which was untouched. In fact, later that day I got a phone call from the estimator apologizing because he had gotten caught up in another assignment and wanted to come later. I appreciate that, but it would have been nice to get a call beforehand. So even their follow-up is inaccurate & doesn't show much accountability. I have no interest in waiting on hold to tell them about how they inconvenienced me. Moving on. surprised and delighted by two other well-reviewed companies in the area who have friendly, fast dispatch system that set an appointment same day. read more

Zero stars if I could. We had an M&M estimator out this morning to meet my wife for a look at a dead pine tree in our back yard for removal. He was brusque, insisted on looking at all the other trees in our back yard even though we have a regular arborist who's already checked them out, and informed us that they had pine bark beetles even though our other arborist just said they don't. When my wife said she was only interested in getting the dead tree removed, he got upset, yelled at her about his job including assessing all the other trees, and stormed out, leaving her almost in tears. Whether he was right or wrong about the beetles, his treatment of my wife was appalling. There's no reason to hire a company who employs someone like that. A giant thumbs down to M&M. Addendum a few days later: we had a pine bark beetle specialist from Cal Fire examine our trees, and he said that we do *not* have pine bark beetles, just signs of past turpentine beetles that have been gone for some years now. The trees M&M wanted to remove are healthy. Can I give negative stars? read more
