We recently hired Bay Area Tree Care Inc. for vegetation management and hillside cleanup in Pinole, and I truly cannot say enough good things about Fernando and his crew. From start to finish, Fernando was professional, responsive, and easy to work with. The crew showed up early to make sure they could start as close to 8:00 AM as possible, which I really appreciated. Everyone was extremely friendly, professional, and respectful throughout the entire process. We had a steep hillside with a lot of overgrown ivy, lower shrubs, and areas that needed cleanup, including the patio area, along with selective tree pruning. I was very clear that I did not want the hillside overly cleared or stripped, as keeping the ecosystem intact was important to me, and Fernando listened carefully to exactly what I wanted. The crew worked incredibly efficiently, did an excellent job clearing the underbrush and ivy while preserving the natural feel of the hillside, hauled everything away, and left the entire property -- including the patio -- immaculate. It's hard to find companies that are this reliable, communicative, and respectful of your wishes. Fernando and his team delivered excellent work at a fair price, and I would absolutely hire them again! read more

We have worked with Fernando for 15 years and they have always done great work. This past week we had a dangerous situation where a large branch fell very close to our backyard patio - Fernando had 4 men out to work on the trees within a few days and they really worked hard and trimmed a lot from our backyard trees. They also cleaned up nicely. And all of that for a fair price. I can highly recommend them! read more

Fernando and his team was superb. He was extremely knowledgeable about the types of tree and how to best manage them. His team was efficient with the trimming and clean up all the debris in the end. Very reasonable quote. Highly recommended if anyone needs trimming project for your home. read more

Mr Caldera (owner) and crew removed a large incense cedar from my front yard here in Berkeley, CA. They did an OUTSTANDING job. The bid was fair and reasonable. The team was professional and accurate. Mr Caldera orchestrated the details with great acumen. This large (40') tree with 3'+ trunk diameter was removed within the span of 5 hours. Everything was clean and tidy after. I can't say enough good things. Thank you, Mr Caldera and Crew! read more

I had wanted to get several ornamental trees trimmed at my rental property for a few months. They returned my call in a timely fashion and Fernando and I met at the property soon afterwards to assess and a few days later, the pruning was done by his son. I am very impressed in the quality of the trimming of my trees--they really know what they are doing. I am an avid gardener (hobby) and was concerned about "hack" jobs by unprofessional tree companies that would permanently disfigure the trees, so I was present the whole time the trimming occurred just in case. I'm sure they would have done a great job if I wasn't present. I highly recommend them and will use them again when needed. (they were recommended to me by 2 of my neighbors). read more

Fernando Sr. and Jr. and team do tree care work that exceeds expectations in all respects. They respond to emergency calls immediately, provide a reasonable quotation without hesitation then conduct the work on or ahead of schedule. Their rare level of professionalism and work places safety extends to gracefully managing the unique demands of neighbors whose properties have also been affected by severe wind storms that leave tree debris on their roof top requiring special care and respectful engagement. I would like to thank Fernando and his men for the great services they perform taking down my Huge Cedar tree on my property and hauling off all of the debris. Actually, Fernando and his crew was working on my neighbor trees and I ask Fernando how much he would charge me to remove my cedar tree he gave me a comfortable price . I was a happy camper, cause someone else quoted me an higher price. I would definitely recommend Fernando and his crew to all of my family and friends. Sorry for the late response Fernando. read more

I am very happy with the work done and the fee is reasonable. I am happy to recommend their service.

I have used this service 4 times now. Every time they showed up as promised, even if it meant they might have to work late as they did this last time. Original review from 1/11/19: Excellent Service at reasonable price. I had 2 oaks trimmed and several stumps removed. Fernando gave a good quote and even a neighbor said they did a great job on the trimming. They removed all the smaller branches so I did not have to clean them up and were kind enough to cut the larger pieces into firewood lengths for me. The stumps were removed well below grade - I think close to a foot below grade. Thank you for providing such great service. I would like to include current update: I have now used your service 4 times over the years. Every time I received great service including clean up. Came as agreed after finishing another job - even though late in the day - and completed same day. quick, friendly and helpful. Fernando and crew understood and did what was needed. Very professional. The trees look well trimmed. The trees that needed removal a year ago have not returned. Thank you. read more

We have been working with Fernando & his team for at least 12 years now and they always have done a great job, from trimming to the removal of huge trees. He is a great guy who puts his team's safety first and quotes reasonable prices. I can highly recommend Bay Area Tree Care! read more

Bay Area Tree Care absolutely the best team for large tree removal. Best price, best service, on time, experts at removing large trees, no damage, and cleaned up my yard and my neighbors yard. The trees were 45' tall. Tree limbs were tethered, sawed, and guided down to the ground. Fernando, Fernando Jr., and the crew communicate well, work with integrity, and care about you and your property. Don't need to call any other company, BATC is the best priced and service. read more

Fernando and his crew showed up on time and removed a very large dead tree from my backyard that had some limbs overhanging neighbor's property. They observed all safety requirements and all wore face masks. After removing tree down to stump they cleaned up my yard and my neighbor's also and brushed up sidewalks. Honest fair price for very demanding work. Highly recommend read more

This company was on time, friendly and extremely professional. Before making our decision, we had several companies come out and give us bids but we felt that Fernando was the most knowledgeable and by far the friendliest. We couldn't be happier with our decision. We HIGHLY recommend Bay Area Tree Care :) read more

We recently became homeowners, so this was our first experience with a tree company. I see absolutely no need to find anyone other than Fernando and BATC for all our future tree needs. Fernando was very responsive, timely, friendly, and knowledgable. Absolutely no complaints, and we'll be calling them in the future for sure. read more

Just for some background I've managed an apartment complex and multiple properties in the Bay area for 4 years. My standard procedure is to have a vendor list but it's not uncommon to get multiple bids on a project. So this one is no different, grab a few bids for a single-home family unit front yard only (couple of trees, some minor work). He came in at $2,000 - nearly 3x the other 2 bids. When I asked how he got to this number he said he charges $450 an hour and my front yard is not easy work (I doubt he pays his workers anywhere near). It felt like when we met that he was sizing up whether he could gouge me or not. I choose not. Enjoy the review. read more

THESE FOLKS ARE THE BEST! If I could give them a higher rating I would. I needed a tree removed. I talked to some others who were fine, but Bay Area Tree Care was the most straightforward and personable, quickly giving me an easy to understand estimate and description of what was needed. Fernando and his crew did an AMAZING job at a reasonable cost. On time, efficient and they go above and beyond. They even scheduled me in quickly, I could tell they did their best to accommodate. Once again - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bay Area Tree Care, without hesitation. GREAT JOB and thanks guys. read more

The 40-foot canary palm in my backyard was looking shaggy, and badly in need of a cut and styling. Called around for estimates, which were all over the place (including one for $2-3K - for one palm tree?). Found BA Tree Service on Yelp, and they did a great job. Their website had before and after photos of canary palms the company had worked on recently and estimate was really fair. They arrived around 8 AM - 4 guys, a truck and a big chipper - and were done before noon. If you've never seen a palm tree cleaned up, it's awesome. One of the guys straps on a harness, and using spiked shoes scrambles up the tree like a monkey (with a chainsaw!). They trim off dead leaves on the underside, shave loose bark from the trunk, and shape the leaf stumps to look like a "pineapple". There were mounds of debris all over the lawn, but they cleaned everything up, so all good. They even rescued a poor squirrel that had lost its home after the trimming. Awww ... Palm tree looks all dolled up and ready for Hollywood. Trimming done efficiently, and worth every penny. read more

Fernando and his crew are great. We hired them twice now. Both times for tree removal and stump grinding. The work was quick and efficient, they cleaned up afterward. I highly recommend Bay Area Tree Care. Should we need more tree help we are certainly contacting them. read more

Fernando and his crew went above and beyond for me when cutting down 4 giant Eucalyptus and Pine trees near my fence line, and another elm tree that was wound up in the power lines. I got 3 quotes for this work and Bay Area Tree Care was not only the lowest bid, but by far the nicest guy I dealt with in getting tree-trimming quotes. They were on time, and were very good natured even when my neighbor started yelling at them because I forgot to tell my neighbor they'd be on the road for a time (my bad.) Don't hesitate to give these guys a call, they're great! read more

Fernando quoted a down tree and committed to a date a week later. Two days before they were supposed to come be pushed it back another week and told me it was my problem. Terrible customer service and integrity. read more

Above and beyond the job I expected. These guys are a kick ass no bs company. And affordable too. Friendly, responsive, fast.

Anyone with a yard full of giant, old, dying/dead trees will no doubt eventually need a tree-cutting service. I called a number of local businesses; 3 responded out of many called. Estimates from everyone else were higher. These guys did the job, and more besides, and left the place looking great. They were pleasant and hard-working, and shredded all the remains, which I wanted for compost and mulch. (We have a pretty big, organic garden, so that was perfect.) read more

I had Fernando cut down my beloved tree yesterday, a move that was emotional to say the least. I got 4 quotes from area businesses but settled on BATC because he seemed to care and understand how I was feeling. I can't tell you how pleased I am with their work. They did everything they said they would do, better than they said and more. The previous reviewer hit it right on the money, they were pleasant, neat, careful and just did a wonderful all around job. I, too, took much of my mulch and he shared the remainder with a neighbor who came by expressing an interest. It's wonderful to hire someone to do a job and have your expectations so greatly exceeded. This is the only tree service I will ever use, and you should, too! read more

Fernando and his crew were outstanding! They provided a detailed estimate which was very reasonable, showed up on time, worked hard and did an excellent job. They cleaned up all of the debris and left the yard looking great. The communication from the beginning to the work being done was in my experience way above average. I would not hesitate to recommend Bay Area Tree Care to anyone !! read more

Fernando and his team are the best! I had an emergency and his team were able to come to take care for my clients. The big branch of tree felt down on the neighbor's car. Fernando was able to use the crane and lifted the huge branch off the top of the tree without scratches. The team was professional and thorough. They took care the business well and in a timely manner. I was so happy and relived that I can trust Bay Area Tree Care to take care for my clients. I was able to inform my clients to enjoy their vacation, and everything was fine. I highly recommended Fernando and his team!!! Thank you for the great service from the heart!! read more

Came out and gave me a physical bid that I lost due to circumstances. The cost to remove 2 trees was reasonable. Would have been nice if they had followed up with an email bid and a phone or email check but this was done immediately after posting a review. I think could be a good service I just need more follow up personally. read more

The Owner of Bay Area Tree Care provided me an affordable quote to have two trees cut down to 2 ft stumps, have ivy removed, and trim my palm tree. The quote was originally for $1200, but the gentleman stated they were a family business and would like to provide me with a $200 discount so I would consider them for my future jobs as well. I am all about small businesses, so I appreciated his approach and hired his team to do the job. When I got home to see the work that had been done they had completely cut down the two trees leaving no stumps as per my request for the asthetics necessary for the yard, and the ivy had only been trimmed and not removed per the agreement. When the owner of Bay Area Tree Care came to collect his check I discussed my absolute disappointment in his men's performance, and direction. The owner apologized deeply and stated he would ensure that two stumps of good quality would be delivered to me within a week. I had called every week for the last month and every week he stated they would drop them off. Now the asthetics in the backyard are completely off, and I will need to spend a few hundred dollars to replace on my own. I would not recommend there services to anyone. read more
