Madriz Tree pruned a large oak tree in my neighbor's backyard. The branches extend over to my property by about 8-10 feet. They cut an extensive number of branches from the oak tree and let them free-fall on my property, which is full of plants. The branches damaged my plants extensively. My backyard was probably 4 feet high with branches, and 8 feet deep. When I talked to one of the workers, he said the plants were "OK", but that wasn't true. When I asked to speak to the supervisor from Madriz, the workers said he wasn't there. No one from Madriz told me that they were going to prune the tree and let large branches free-fall into my backyard onto the plants in my garden and garage roof. Completely unprofessional. With respect to your request for a video, I do have a video of your Madriz worker in my backyard pulling piles and piles of branches off of my plants in my garden. With respect to your comment that I was "yelling and screaming" and "harassing" your workers, you are gaslighting me. I don't yell, scream, or harass workers. It's offensive and untrue. If you wanted to dead-drop limbs from an oak tree into my backyard, onto the plants in my garden, you should have contacted me first and discussed it. You never did. read more

I had quite a few trees to be worked on in my garden, 5 of varying types, including one 3-storey or more Pittosporum with many dead branches on it which had never been touched in 40 years, and a Bottle brush or two which were by a fence and the sidewalk. Jose came out the day after I looked for bids. He was very pleasant to speak with and walked around making notes, drawing on his cell phone while he listened to what I wanted. He was one of three bids. Ultimately he was the one I chose being able to meet the other bid, but come out within 2 days to do the work, instead of one month!!! They arrived on time, the crew of three, with a big wood chipper etc and did a lovely job, with the best vibes, and did all the work in 3 1/4 hours. I would highly recommend them. The Madriz team did an absolutely fantastic job on our trees! We had overgrown maple, liquid ambers, olive trees, and a lemon tree. The team was punctual, very communicative, checking in frequently to review their work, and all I had to do was show a couple photos, and they were able to thin out and shape the maple exactly how we wanted it! They have a great aesthetic eye so all of the trees looked beautiful after trimming. They also did a wonderful job cleaning and hauling everything away, so it looks like they were never here! You showed up for our estimate appointment 45 mins late, if you need that much flexible time it's best to give a time window than an exact time, because most people can only tolerance 15-20mins waiting without further notice, you can call or send a text message to let us know that you're going to be late, that works too, showing you respect our time too. You didn't respond within a few hours to my question like you said on your Yelp reply but DAYS, and I reached out to you first after waiting for DAYS. I like you, I can tell you are a good person, a good father, and I love the performance of your crew, but I also hope sharing my experience of how I feel during this process working with you can maybe somehow help you do even better with the business, not trying to criticize you. Fast and friendly service! A large tree in my backyard fell because of the high winds we've been experiencing in the bay. The fallen tree was leaning against my garage and a neighbors shed. Within minutes, I was in contact with Jose on the phone and within a couple of hours, he was at my home assessing the situation and providing me with, what I think was a reasonable quote. Jose talked me through how his team would approach the removal safely for both his team and the structures in harms way. Within only a couple of hours, I had a quote and a time the next day for his team to come and remove the tree. Jose's team arrived early the next day with the first limb cut promptly at 8AM. He came on the same day to provide a quote and was able to confirm a price $2250 right away. I had another quote for $2440 so I knew his quote was competitive. The other company requested access to my neighbor's yard though, which I could not get, so I felt Jose was offering a better service. Scheduling was easy and he had availability the next week. Jose the owner will take a check from you in full at the time of service, then destroy your check, then come back to your property over a year later, stand on your doorstep and refuse leave till you answer the door. Then when you scream at him to leave your property he will refuse until you scream over and over and threaten calling the police. We moved to a new home with an avocado tree way too overgrown - overhanging the neighbor's house and yard, and dropping large avocados from ~80 feet. Jose and the highly skilled crew from Madriz Tree service did a phenomenal job fixing our problem while saving the tree. We chose Madriz because Jose gave the most honest estimate and seemed the most knowledgable and considerate of our needs compared to other services. The Madriz crew were able to remove huge branches without dropping them in the neighbor's yard, shaped the tree beautifully, worked around an old fence and buildings without damaging them, and cleaned up our entire yard before finishing up. Terrible service! Didn't hire them for a job but called with some questions. I assumed that this company is knowledgeable or has experience, so I sent a picture of a tree in my backyard and asked for a quote and had few questions. I asked if it's OK for us to possibly trim the tree ourselves, he responded "if you want to die, go ahead". Like who responds like this? Despite that, I chucked and then asked if legally we were allowed to trim our own tree, he responded that he's not a lawyer (OK that's fair, but a simple yes or no or maybe some info would've been helpful since he literally works in this field and must know legality around this topic). Right after, he said "you're trying to get a freebie" "goodbye" and hung up.... What on earth? Even if we wanted some info and don't end up hiring you, does it hurt to share knowledge or information? If we decided it's not worth us doing ourselves, we may have wanted you to help do the job -- but no, you treated us terribly and acted super rude. The call literally lasted less than 2 minutes, and I was super nice and respectful. What kind of business operates this way? Do people need to confirm/sign a contract and put down money for you to be helpful? Jeez what a terrible experience! It doesn't hurt to be kind in this life, dude.
